I went to Aqua Salon for a cut and highlight while I was visiting Manhattan and have never been so pleased. When I went back to San Diego all my friends were jealous of my natural blonde color. This place was new to me, but saw a Groupon for their Airbrush Tanning. With an upcoming wedding, I thought I'd give this place a try. Came during lunch time, no problems with finding parking at a meter. I was scheduled with Susan D. The receptionist was so sweet and said hello even though she was with someone else at the time. Susan is super friendly and makes you feel right at home. (When you stripping down in front of a stranger, you need to feel comfortable). She took her time getting all spots for an even color and I couldn't be happier with the results. Beautifully golden brown, definitely no hints of orange. The receptionist gave me a quick spin around the salon afterward and I would be open to more services based on first impression. Adorable place. I am really picky about eyerbrows...went to Ling and then Christine Chin when I lived in NYC and I have been searching forever for a good brow specialist in the South Bay. Susan at Aqua is truly excellent--she leaves your brows thick and knows what shape best fits your face...plus her fee is quite reasonable at $25/session. read more

I absolutely LOVE Suzie and Kathy! They are both AMAZING artists! Kathy does my cuts and Suzie does my color and I NEVER walk out of there unhappy. The salon is in a great location and the decor I love! If I were you I would schedule your appointment right before sunset, the view is beautiful. Also, if you are looking for a great custom spray tan, ask for Miriam! She is great! I've never walked out with streak or looking any shade of orange. This is a one stop shop! After a disaster color job from another salon, Aqua saved my hair! My hair is tricky, lots of it, and many many layers. Kathy fixed my hair big time! Ive been a huge fan ever since and wont go anywhere else. I also love the eye brow queen!! I never used to tint lashes and brows, but what a big difference! Ugh I hate that I'm writing this review because I only like to leave positive feedback. I will start by clarifying the second star is because the people that work here are nice, but I recently came in so excited to get balayage highlights after growing and caring for my hair for two years in prep...LONG STORY SHORT: two salon trips, 6 hours in the chair, and over $200 later, I have hair that is FRIED and DARKER than when I originally sat in the chair. I really tried to give this salon the benefit of the doubt by coming back in to fix the mistake, but unfortunately I'm still undeniably disappointed in my overall experience. read more

Sadly, I didn't get the name of the stylist who did my hair. I recently got a balayage and it was horrible. When looking up balayages on google, you see highlights with ombres. She just gave me highlights. VERY bad highlights. They were yellow and orange. My hair is splotchy and the highlights are only on top the top of my hair. It looks as if I had done it myself, at home, with a box dye. Also, the stylists didn't interact with you. There were two-three stylists in the salon when I had my hair done and one of them was quite rude, talking over people who were discussing what they want with their stylists. The only pro to this salon is that it's by the beach and the salon, itself, is nice. NEVER coming back. read more

The salon was nice and clean and had a lot of customers. I asked for a balayage and got more of a really detailed highlights on the top layer of my hair. It's not really how I wanted it to turn out, but the hair dresser was kind and meticulous, and took her time with it. Although I don't love the look, the place and people are nice- just be sure you are more specific, I think I should have shown a picture of what I was going for. read more

I wouldn't recommend this salon to my dog, let alone Ryan Seacrest (whatever that means). My beach hair went from baby blonde to brassy. How can a woman with that amount of experience turn my hair orange? My first clue should have been her overly negative aura! All I had asked for was a retouch on my highlights. The cut was average, but the blow dry was terrible. My intent was to save money by not driving to Hollywood, but I now have to spend more money and gas to get my hair fixed. read more

Visited Aqua Salon this week... my stylist Suzanne has recently joined the team there of extremely friendly and professional stylists. The salon's sea aired atmosphere is pleasantly zen with a sutle beachy flare! Suzanne gave me the best trim & blow out... she also added a few feather extensions that added a "fun" punch to the beach-natural highlights she's added to my hair color in the past. Whether its color, cut, brazilian-blow out, extentions or just a blow dry, Suzanne always has me leaving the salon feeling fabulous.... always getting me compliments!!! read more

Beautiful view, very nice salon. Very affordable pricing considering the area. I went in for a partial highlight and blow-dry from Jessica, she suggested balayage instead and did a beautiful job with the color placement and really brightened up my blonde. She also cut my hair and I asked for a long layered trim. She did a lovely job with the haircut as well but I will warn-if you have long hair and want to keep it that way this isn't the person to cut your hair! She unfortunately took off more than I had asked for, to the point another stylist that worked there commented on the fact I came in with long hair and asked how much I took off! I am disappointed the cut took away some progress but am still happy with the overall results. read more

Suzanne is amazing! She can dye, cut, and do a keratin treatment in less than 2 1/2 hours (time is precious), and it looks amazing. I have never gotten more compliments from people than when she does my hair. I now live in San Francisco and travel to LA every three months just so she can do my hair. Ask for Kellie! I was on vacation, looking for a great place to treat myself. A friend recommended this salon and it was fantastic! Kellie did a cut, color and highlights and my hair has never looked so great. She was so friendly and helped me find the perfect hair style for my facial features. She even helped me learn how to style my hair so that it would look like I just left the salon! I've never had so many compliments! I absolutely LOVE my hair, and Kellie was one of the best stylists I've ever been to. I would recommend Kellie to anyone who wants a friendly and experienced stylist!!! Had my first spray tan experience at the Aqua Salon back in September 2012. I was very nervous about the whole process. Myriam was wonderful; she made me feel comfortable and explained each step as she went along. I was worried about looking like the comedic version of a tanner, but the results were perfect. A natural looking shade that was just enough to take away the glare of my normally pale skin, but not so dark that it was obvious I had just walked out the tanning booth. I just returned for my second visit when I decided to participate in the Cupid's Undie Run to benefit the Children's Tumor Foundation. Once again, I couldn't have been more pleased with my results. I wish I could do this on a regular basis, but will have to reserve it for special occasions for now. I would recommend the Aqua Salon and Myriam to anyone who is considering getting a spray, especially for the first time. You will be very please with the outcome...I promise. read more

I swear everyday felt like a bad hair day until I found Nikki!! After a great shampoo, Nikki always works with me and my indecision about my hair! She is so patient with my woes and questions, and then tells me what she thinks will look good with my face shape and what my hair options are. BEST SALON IN MANHATTAN BEACH! The staff here is amazing! They treat you like royalty and always make you feel welcome and comfortable! I go here all the time for spray tans by Myriam. She is the BEST and SO SWEET. After your spray tan you can even relax & dry in a silky robe on the salon patio & enjoy beautiful ocean views! That's what I did a couple weeks ago with my friend and sister who were visiting from out of town. We all had great time and left with perfect, golden tans. My out of town guests could not stop raving about the beautiful salon, helpful staff and fabulous tans. Aqua Salon N. Idaho? They would LOVE it! Although I've never had my hair or nails done here, I will soon! During my last visit one of the stylists (looks just like a young Goldie Hawn) and manicurists introduced themselves. I am a long time customer and assumed I had good will. I am always friendly and generous to the staff and for the most part they are as well. The exception being the owner, kathy. A month ago I booked highlights and got there early. After waiting almost an hour she came in and started doing someone else's highlights-she didn't even bother to check to see that I was booked. Needless to say no highlights for me even though I was ahead of the women she started and most importantly no apology!!! So a month later I booked highlights and was late according to them-I thought I was early- but they had me booked for a tint and a hair cut-not highlights. I got the tint and when I saw her start someone else I was shocked. Nobody bothered to tell me what was going on-that I was not going to get highlights yet again. And once more no apology or communication from the staff. She runs her business in a completely chaotic fashion. No one seems to know what is happening and nobody talks to anyone to check, especially the client. Of course no highlights again. While she is a good enough stylist-she does not know how to run a business. I am never going there again and I strongly suggest avoiding Aqua if you care about having the service you booked! read more
