Ladies, I am SO disappointed and need to share my experience. I wanted to get gel nails done before a one week trip to Europe and went to Frances Nails and Spa the day before my flight - figured the location was great and the yelp reviews were good. What a mistake. During my gel manicure, I noticed that each coat was getting a little sloppy, maybe because of the other clients starting to trickle in but who knows. I would point it out to my manicurist and she would say that she would fix it at the end? We get to the final clear coat and she gets the coating all over my cuticles and beneath the nails. I ask her to fix it because it is all over - she tells me it will go away after I wash my hands.... I'm not a dummy and know that it doesn't work like that. After some back and forth I just deal with it and tell myself that I just need this to last one week and get ready for my trip. Attached are the photos of what my nails looked like on my FIRST day of my trip (day 2 of my gel manicure). The overflowing final clear coat was separating from my nail and my cuticles are getting WRECKED from being pulled by the gel coat. Not only did my nails look absolutely terrible on my vacation, but my cuticles are ripped and raw. Terrible experience I hope to never have again! read more

Very shady and sketchy business practices. Spoke in Vietnamese the whole entire time. Charged me $25 when it was clearly posted on the board that it was $20. When I inquired they discussed amongst themselves in Vietnamese for a while before he mustered an excuse for the extra charge "because your nails are long." My nails are no longer than anyone else that was getting or have gotten nails done here. After some more Vietnamese discussion they didn't really want to solve the problem of the over charge so I left with $5 overcharge and $5 undeserved tip. They didn't say anything during the appointment about an extra charge and brazenly over charged me and wasn't going to say anything until I inquired. Don't support businesses like this, there are perfectly legitimate businesses that don't scam their clients in the area that do better jobs. read more

Went in for a pedicure with my boyfriend. The service was very awkward from the beginning but that's not what this review is about. Unfortunately they do not practice proper safety and sanitation procedures. The gentleman did not bother cleaning the bowl after my boyfriend finished his pedicure. There was one woman waiting to go after him and the man processed to fill up the bowl after merely rinsing. I even asked him what kind of disinfectant do they use to clean the bows and I quote his response, "I rinsed it water." I'm literally disgusted and promptly left. Update: 2/7 2 stars The day before; I called and Made an appointment for a fill with gel. Right before we hung up the man commented to "be on time". I found that odd. Ok whatever. We get there 10min early. He calls me to come sit 15min AFTER my appointment time. Starts working on my fill. Then a woman walks in and says oh did you forget I had an appointment at noon? (My Appt was 1130am) all of a sudden he starts rushing on my fill. The gel application is horrible. It's funky, doesn't meet my cuticle, nor does it cover the edge of the nail. Super disappointed in my fill. I paid $30 for crap all because the dude double booked himself. Never again. Have been coming to Frances nails for the past year or so. I always make an appointment and come in on my lunch break. They are always so nice and accommodating. They do a great job and their prices are very reasonable! I always get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. They have an abundance of gel colors! Love this place! read more

2 stars for customer service, 0 stars for the job. First, I see that most of these reviews are for Daniel so I believe he is probably pretty good. Unfortunately although the woman who did my nails was relatively nice, she killed my nails. I was very excited when I walked in and Daniel looked like he was available but turns out he had an appointment coming in and I got moved to another chair. I respect the fact that he didn't try to rush through mine and make another customer wait so there are the stars! Now the gel manicure - I came in after working hard to be patient and grow out my nails. I'm a former ice hockey player and for years I had to keep my nails short. I was so happy to have long healthy nails. Hat being said, I did have to file a couple down when they broke last week. I sat down and explained I wanted to just file the long ones down and clean up the ones I had filed down. (At this time I had gel on my nails already from the last couple months getting regular manicures). File. File them down. That's what I explicitly said because I never let a manicurist cut my nails. So while I'm responding to a text from my mom and admittedly not paying attention, she takes out the clipper and takes of my ENTIRE nail! It's down past the skin. Then she proceeds to do that to the rest of the hand! So of course I have to let her do that to my left hand so that it's "even". But worse, it's still not even! They're at different lengths and some aren't even across the top. I had to point out to her that she left a hangnail on one of them after she started to put on the base coat! She cut down one of my nails so short it actually hurts. Like when you get a terrible hang nail and you break the nail under the skin? She did that to me and I paid for it... ouch on both accounts. And if that wasn't bad enough - and this is what motivated me to write the review - it's three days later and I'm still trying to get excess paint and clear cover off the rest of my fingers. It's like she painted the nail down into the skin and because he cut them so short, it's really painted down! Maybe Daniel is great. Maybe. But the woman I had gave me an awful manicure. Oh, and there are pictures... I didn't take them until today, three days later after I have mostly unglued my finger tails from the I'd go elsewhere. Update: went back after my third nail broke and Kathy was awesome. She did her best to fix the damage, did a fantastic gel job, smiled the entire time, and didn't charge me anything. I really miss getting my nails done here. I moved to the other side of town a few years ago and nothing compares to the artistry and outstanding customer service at Francis Nails. This is a family owned business and they put all of their heart and soul into making it a wonderful experience to visit this salon. There is ample parking always and a huge range of colors and techniques to choose from when it comes to your nails! If you are very lucky you might even get a free shoulder massage! It will only last two minutes but I assure you it will be the best two minutes of your day! I highly recommend Francis Nail salon for either a basic mani pedi or an extraordinary all out designer nail experience for a wedding or a special occasion. This is what you call an A+ situation always in all ways. I miss this place so much. It is not easy to find a place you can count on to be efficient and fairly priced. While I had a positive experience at the salon, I've never had a gel manicure of such low quality. I got chrome rose which required a hot pink under layer. In less than 24 hours, every single nail has hot pink exposed and 2 nails are chipped. I am forgiving of the random dents in the polish and the residual chrome glitter everywhere. This place is great! I was searching Yelp for good nail shops in the area and came across this place. Since I'm pretty picky, I try to go for the ones with the highest ratings, so I decided to give it a try. This place definitely lived up to my expectations. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted. They told me to pick my colors, and they'd be with me soon. The place is clean and the chairs are comfortable. There were a couple other people in there when I went in, so I had to wait a couple minutes for someone to finish up. Then, they started my nails. I told them I also needed a polish change for my toes, so they moved me to the spa chair where they did my nails and toes. Both employees were pleasant and super quick. It took them around 20-30 minutes to do everything. They did a great job, and I'll definitely be back. As I was getting in my car, I messed up my toes, so I ran back in and the lady fixed it without any hassle. I didn't know that customers could park in the Thai Dishes lot, so I ended up parking on the street next to the building. However, it's great that they allow you to park in the Thai Dishes restaurant, so you don't have to search for a parking space. read more

For nails, this place is great. Affordable, they work quickly but throughly. They're very friendly and wonderful people. My nails are amazing whenever I go here! The reason for my 3-Star review: they "double dip" the wax pot. For those unaware what that means, the staff here dips the stick into the communal wax pot after the stick has been on your skin. This means dozens upon dozens of people's germs are in the wax pot, brewing with bacteria in the heated kettle. Esthetician hygienic and safety standards strictly prohibit double dipping in the wax pot. A new stick should be used for each dip. While I love my nails, their lack of cleanliness standards with waxing makes me nervous what they must be reusing when doing nails. Hence I don't think I will return. read more

I'm visiting from the SF bay area and made an appointment for a gel manicure after reading other reviews about the service and the price. Honestly, this is the BEST experience I have had at any nail salon! To my surprise and delight I was even treated to a shoulder massage while they were soaking off my old gel polish. I noticed the ladies in the pedicure chairs were also given shoulder massages. I have never seen this service at a nail salon! It really helped to set the tone for even more relaxation :) My manicurist, High (sp?), was kind, gentle and meticulous about her work. After all was finished it was only $20!! (Well, it was $20.50 because of using a debit card and it costs them a bit more in fees. They prefer cash or check to avoid that.) But I've paid $40+ for half the service I was given at Frances. I use to drive to Beverly Hills to get my nails done because I'm picking about details. That is until I found Frances Nails! So much closer, less traffic to deal with and priced reasonably. Love this salon, everyone is friendly and Daniel does gel nails very well! He really pays attention to detail. Go to him if you're into coffin gel nails! Came here for a long overdue manicure and I simply could have had better. The job she did was "Just ok" the hand massage she gave me, which comes with the manicures was less than exceptional. Her work felt forced and rushed. Although the prices weren't bad, but just because the prices are low doesn't mean the services should reflect negatively. I went in when there wasn't anyone else in the shop, so naturally you'd think you get all the attention and great service right?...........Wrong! After she did my nails I wasn't prompted to dry and cure the clear paint I had on my nails. Nor was I shown where to wash my hands after this treatment. So although my nails look decent, they're still dirty and the clear coat of paint didn't get to fully dry so it looks like I had a rookie that knows nothing about how to do manicures. I walked in today around 2:05 pm to get a fill. I was instantly hit with the very strong aroma of curry coming from the Thai restaurant next door. I love curry but this was a bit much. 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4. I recently came in for a mani pedi for myself and a pedi for my 4 year old. The place was pretty packed and I had to wait until my 4 year old was done before they had time for my appointment. This despite the fact that I had called in ahead of time. I had one person who worked on me and I much prefer places where you can have one person working on your mani and one on your pedi to cut down on time. My daughter's pedi came out super cute. They put flowers on her big toes and were very sweet and caring towards her. I purchased the callous remover but it really didn't do much and my heels are still pretty rough. Would skip that in the future. The pedi turned out great but my nails underneath were still rather dirty when the technician was going to start painting them. I had to point it out to her multiple times before she scraped them clean. Then it seemed like the polish was kind of old so I mentioned it to her. It was very streaky. That was when the owner came over and he quickly, efficiently and very nicely did an amazing job of finishing my mani. Overall I would go here again but expect that it might take a while and that you might have to point out things to your technician - like dirt under your nails. Lol. read more

I came in for a gel manicure today and I did not have a pleasant experience. I was charged $25 for getting my hands dipped in cold water only, no soap or anything else. The lady who was doing my gel manicure did not give the gel enough time to cure, she kept rudely tapping me to "move" even though it was not time yet. The nail polish feels like it can be scratched right off. The gel removal clips she used looked so disgusting and after she used them on me, she simply put them back in their plastic tray and inside a drawer for the next person to use DID NIT BOTHER TO SANITIZE. My nails were filed down so much my fingers hurt and my nails are so flimsy. The only reason I give 1 stars is because they attended me very quickly. read more
