This place is great view and ambiance! Staff is amicable and genuine. I ordered caprese salad , shrimp pasta and key lime pie as well as coconut martini. I really enjoyed the salad and dessert. I thought pasta needed some more flavor and shrimp was not tasting very fresh. My drink was very strong, tasted like rubbing alcohol. I ended up asking the waiter to take it back and dilute it. He came back with same glass but better taste. I appreciated the service although I was a bit thrown off by waiter saying he used a straw and drank some of my drink to taste it . This place could be a gem. We staid the night after going on a cruise. It's sloppy, not taken care of. Bad leadership- the outside needs lights on and clean up the beautiful lounge areas, fluff the pillows or at least have someone do it. Unfortunately the manager has no idea what she's doing with this place. It's like you handed over a Porsche keys to a taxi driver. They wouldn't know what to do with car but fu it up. My family and I ordered some appetizers to start off the night - carpaccio and a caprese salad and sushi roll. It was delivered from the manager Jodi which I asked for bread to go along with it. Her response was that they didn't have bread, but I could get you some crackers!!! Wtf what am I a pigeon!?! We ended the night which we felt bad because the only one that was very helpful Jonathan and truly tried to accommodate and offered us bread or focaccia bread if we were willing to wait a few minutes. I only hope here for this place is that management reads this and takes the little action and to get rid of the (Jodi) manager out of the position and puts her back in dishwashing. My advice is to invest in your staff someone like Jonathan and move him in to the position. He was truly helpful and accommodating. By the way she never came back to apologize. Nice leader. We came here for my sons birthday over a year ago while we were in town. We had made reservations for 8:45 and we were told we had to wait 30 to 45 to be seated, even with a reservation. We were told they were short staff and behind on reservations. We went to the bar to grab drinks while we waited, which was overall disorganized. After waiting 30 minutes we got a message that our reservation had been canceled because we didn't show up????? Despite the way our evening started. The food and our waitress were great. I came here a few years ago for my birthday, and LOVED it. I still have the pictures. I had a mini anniversary to plan and decided that I wanted to do it at Aqua, as long as they were still operating and had outdoor seating. I went online, made my reservation, and was thrilled at how easy it was; the menu online looks pretty much the same as it used to. I was so excited to show my date the little mini beach and beautiful interior, but after walking inside things took a turn. I couldn't find a hostess, the waitress who sat us didn't care about my reservation (I had asked for a special table and written that it was an anniversary, which was not acknowledged and she was just like "sit wherever you want") and she was not friendly... the whole vibe of the place was off, it used to feel like fine dining! Her demeanor combined with the lack of staff attending to us as we stood unknowing what to do at the hostess stand made me feel like I was at an Olive Garden. Then when she got us menus and sat us, I was immediately further disappointed. They have a limited menu now. It is common due to covid, but I was shocked and upset that there was no mention of the limited menu anywhere online or on Yelp. I wouldn't have made the reservation if I had known they didn't have their sushi, which is what I was looking forward to. This place was awesome for late night food after we got in from our flight. It is in the Westin and is gorgeous. Bar area looks out on Tampa Bay and you can sit out on the patio and have a drink to take it all in. Seafood linguine was delicious and so was California roll and dumplings. Loved the open kitchen concept and that the chefs still cooked my meal at 10:00 pm. Beer menu is sufficient but the wine cellar and list is amazing. Causual/upscale so don't dress like a slob or in gym shorts and flip flops. I also loved the darker and blue lighting in the lounge/bar. Very relaxed atmosphere and the bartender/server was very attentive and nice. I highly recommend checking this place out and hopefully I will get a chance to enjoy the full dining experience before I leave. read more

My third time coming here with my husband and the first two times we really enjoyed the food and the service. Last night was another story, let me start with the hostess, terrible personality, she greeted us with a "oh wooow " why? I have no idea and got the menu and didn't even say follow me or anything. I was with 6 people and there was only 1 person who's food stood out and it was the shrimp and grits. Other than that I would not expect anything special from this place. Regrettably, if you are a foodie like me, you may only get that opportunity on a special occasions if ever. I for one do not want anyone to refinance their home to pay for a gourmet meal. What if I don't like foie gras? Well my fellow frustrated foodies, have I got a deal for you! Aqua can make your dreams come true without breaking the bank. Aqua is located in the Westin Hotel right off the Courtney Campbell in Clearwater. It's a waterfront restaurant and it's sexy as hell. They have an open kitchen so you can watch the action going on in there or get one of their kick ass drinks, chill, and look at the view. Sundays they have a 3 course prix fixe menu for two which cost $25.00 per couple. You must ask for the prix fixe menu or you will get the regular menu which is very expensive. You can look online at their website and see what's on the menu for the Sunday you choose to go. This menu allows you to pick 1 appetizer to share, 2 entrees, and a dessert. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell they are proud of their establishment. For our appetizer we chose Wagu Beef Carpaccio. The presentation was stunning. I have never eaten anything carpaccio so I don't have anything to judge this against. All I can say is that it was delicious. It was garnished with tomatoes, capers, arugula, and shaved Parmesan cheese. The Wagu practically melted in my mouth and the capers and cheese gave it the right amount of salt and pop. It also came with onion rings which I did not like at all. The crust was too hard and the onion was tasteless. I just didn't eat them and devoured the beef. Fabulous! For my entree I chose Yellow Pepper Paella. It had little neck clams, shrimp, mussels, and grouper over a bed of Sardinian Fregula. Sardinian Fregula is a little know Italian pasta that is similar to  couscous but the toasted Fregula gives it a nuttier, taste than its couscous cousin. I was in heaven with all my favorite things in one bowl and my new best friend , Sardinian couscous. My friend picked Tecumseh Farms Roasted Chicken. These are totally organic chickens and she says it may be the best chicken she has ever tasted in her life. She only likes white meat but ate the thigh as well. I tasted a piece of the breast. The skin was crispy good and the chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Honestly I could have eaten a whole bowl of just the skin! It was time for dessert but we were both stuffed and took it to go. Well I did, she skipped dessert. I had the Bananas Foster Cheesecake. I enjoyed the flavors. The banana was truly the star but it didn't have a cheesecake consistency. That didn't stop me from eating every drop. We looked at the regular menu before we asked for the prix fixe menu. The meal we had just eaten would have cost about $80.00 before taxes and tip. My friend had a $10 gimlet martini and I stuck with water. Our bill for that wonderful meal was $35.00. Hot damn! My only complaint was the service was slow. We counted 9 wait staff and there were only five tables with customers. It took 20 minutes to get water. I have no idea why. Other than that I will rate this place a love,love,loved it and can't wait to go back. If you are watching your budget but want a gourmet experience definitely give Aqua a try, you won't be sorry. read more

At a first glance, Aqua seems like a fancy dinner spot, to be frank, I wasn't impressed. The service was mediocre and it's first impression flashiness quickly wears off. We sat at a booth for a few minutes, our server came right over, his insight on the menu was near to none. I was debating between two meals, he had zero input or suggestions. This was my first time to this restaurant and I really had only gone in for desert, but decided to grab dinner as well. I was interested in a smaller portion, server's response was "well it depends on how hungry you are". Dude, I said small portion indicating I wasn't too hungry, you work here, you should at least have an idea of portion sizes. To be fair, the server was polite and nice, but I found his lack of menu knowledge to be quite annoying. We heard this was a good restaurant, so we made a reservation for New Year's Eve with friends for 8:00 pm. The management and staff could not have treated us worse..and we've eaten around the world!! We sign in and were told they overbooked New Year's Eve and couldn't guarantee we would be seated. When we asked to see the manager, he said things were as they were and told us if we would sit in the bar area, they would have full service there for us...no table, tho. We sat in the bar 40 minutes and asked 3 servers if they would wait on us. All said in 5 minutes, and no one came. When my husband went to speak to the manager again, he was as rude as anyone who has totally lost control of his restaurant. We then heard that 7:30 reservations were still waiting to be seated, and we left at 9:10 pm. Had an 8:00 reservation. So..good food maybe, but we will never ever go there again! FYI! read more

Aqua is the restaurant that's in the Tampa Bay Westin. The food is fjne - we tried the sushi, the breakfast, even a light dinner while we stayed here for 4 nights. We came in to AQUA for a light lunch to start off our bachelor party weekend. We ordered a couple of flatbread pizzas, calamari, and the beef carpaccio. The flatbreads were a good size and tasty. And the calamari was your standard breaded calamari, nothing too special. The carpaccio was delicious, the white truffle oil was a nice touch along with the shaved paramsan cheese on top. The only thing I would recommend to future guests is if you are considering Aqua for breakfast before you need to be somewhere, just order room service. My company holiday party was at Aqua this year, and I was extremely excited to try this place out! I often pass it on my way to Clearwater but have never had the chance to actually stop there and eat. Upon arriving we were greeted pleasantly by the hostess who offered to show us to our reserved area. The view of the water was beautiful and the space has great light! I loved the open kitchen and the fact that everything was clean and well organized. We were seated immediately and I requested a dark color napkin from our server so that I wouldn't get white lint all over my pants. I was very amused when the server returned with black bar napkins I couldn't help but giggle at the situation, as I pictured myself creating a "puzzle" of napkins to cover my lap! In my opinion, a restaurant of that caliber should have dark colored linens available for those wearing dark bottoms. I ordered the steak and asked for medium rare and it came out more like medium to medium well, however it was still quite tasty. It was seasoned perfectly and my vegetables were al dente, just as I like them. The service was a bit slow in my opinion,seeing as we were the only party in the dining room, however we were enjoying the view, the conversation and the wine! Delicious, fresh seafood in a beautiful ambiance. We had oysters, stuffed flounder, and several sides. Although the food was a bit salty, the quality was excellent. The drinks are overly sweet, stick to the wine list which had some lovely selections. Our service was great, although our server was a bit goofy. We came in for an early dinner so the place was not full, however, I still think even when it's busy, that the servers are attentive. We had our last dinner in Tampa at Aqua locates in the Westin. My friend comes there every time she is in town for work. We warmly greeted by Roberto Lira. He has been there many times when my friend has come to Aqua. He knew exactly what she likes on the menu and her wine selections. He was very attentive and fast service. He checked on us often and was very intuitive to his customers. We ordered a hodgepodge of items. We had the oysters half shell, it had blue point and a Texas oyster. The blu points were delicious but the Texas oysters were not my favorite. My friend ordered the fig and berry salad, it is outstanding. We than chose an entree item, she ordered the scallops with the forbidden rice, I ordered Neptune roll. We than had a side of the Brussels sprouts, that is a warm salad with bacon with maple, miso and soy dressing which was so good that I could have drank the sauce. We ended our meal with the ganache donuts which I have to say the best fried donut I have ever had. The outside is perfect crisp and the inside soft and nice amount of chocolate. Lost my reservation I made a couple hours before dinner. Host was almost trying to talk us out of dinner. We assured that we didn't mind waiting for food as she said it would be a wile. We sat in the empty restaurant with no one greeting us. No water order. Once we waved someone down they gave us menus that were printed with low ink so barely readable. We tried to order a app after a wile and then were notified that their raw bar was down and they didn't have the wagyu app.... so like half their menu was 86'd. We ended up walking out. The atmosphere is great and the service is excellent, but I think you definitely come for those two things and not necessarily the food. My berry mojito was sub-par and I ordered the stuffed beignets which weren't really light and fluffy like they were supposed to be. They also looked kinda flat and little wrinkly. My girlfriend ordered the sushi, which I commend on everything being fresh, but even that fell flat of being eye appealing. After trying the food from Aqua at various events and parties over the last few years I am amazed that we waited so long to try it out. Complimentary valet parking at the Westin hotel and a beautiful entryway into the restaurant with a waterfall wine bottle wall that is stunning, this is definitely worth checked out! Gorgeously set with wide open spaces and plenty of large and also intimate seating, the kitchen table/chef's table seats overlook the sushi and main cooking areas which is always a nice treat for foodies. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the last bit of warm vs hot air for a relaxing lunch overlooking the calm waters. It would be ideal for the umbrellas over the tables to be easier to shift to keep the sun away but nonetheless it was lovely and a few fans /misters would make a world of difference in the summer months. Service was fine, nothing exciting but certainly nothing to complain about. The food was more of a star than I could have hoped for, especially at a "hotel restaurant". The Steak Frites was extremely tender and perfectly medium cooked slices served over arugula and onions with crispy and gently salted tator tots. The California rolls were very fresh and a nice 8 piece portion. A little hint - before you go - reserve with opentable and also sign up for their email club for $10 off your meal. They offer sunday brunch which I look forward to coming back to try out. This place is perfect for a business dinner or a casual or nice lunch on the water. They also offer boat and waverunner rentals at their tiki hut as well. Their Prosecco at $8 a glass was refreshing although they have a nice size wine and cocktails list as well. My wife and I love to come to 'Aqua' restaurant for it's location (water view); the convenience to travel there; the ambiance (a beautiful and relax environment); the friendliness of their professional staff; and especially their food (the quality, the preparation, presentation and the flavor). We live at approx. 40 min. away and any chance that we are in the area, we would stop over to Aqua, either for breakfast, lunch or dinner (we have done all three, either with reservation or without). Great view. 5/5 -Drinks are good, however not near as quality as their competitors such as Ruth Chris and Charley's. Drinks need to be cold 4/5 - I would give the food a 3.5/5. It was quality, nicely prepared but missing something - the biggest ding is on service. While at the bar we had excellent quick, friendly service Once we were seated however, It took 32 minutes to get our drinks, additionally an 35 minutes longer to order dinner. We planned on going to Bahama Breeze, but when we got there, it was so crowded, we couldn't take it. My wife and I had passed right by Aqua, and said let's give it a shot. Some of the other Yelp reviews helped our decision. Not many people here for a Saturday night, and it seemed like a nice atmosphere. We braved the 62° temperatures out on the patio, but it was very nice and relaxing. The house music was just the right volume. The wait staff was very friendly. It took a little longer than we would've liked to get our food, but the sushi was fantastic! All fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. The creme brûlée was a nice finishing touch. Bar/restaurant located in the Westin Tampa Bay. We really only stuck to the bar side, although some had breakfast in the restaurant a few of the days. Most said it was average at best. The bar is actually really nice, reminded me of a cool spot on a cruise ship. The only issue was the lack of service. We saw our server only a couple times and our glasses were empty for a long time, unless we went to the bar ourselves. Drinks are pricey ($5+ for domestic bottles, $10 for mixed). Our friends from out of town didn't mind, but I knew they'd be a tad more than a typical Tampa bar. read more

I have lived close to AQUA for close to two years and had only recently eaten here. I visited during lunchtime and had the fish tacos. They were actually much more reasonably priced than the dinner menu items and were delicious! I opted for the sweet potato fries, which was a healthy portion. Definitely recommend them as a side. I didn't have the opportunity to try anything off the drink menu this time around. The views are absolutely gorgeous. If you have the opportunity to sit outside - take advantage! Although my server was attentive, he was sort of zombie-like, less than enthusiastic/monotone. Maybe he was hungover? That's the only reason I'm taking away a star.
