We rented a pontoon boat from Yarrow Bay Marina for the blue angels today/Thursday. They called us last night at 4 o'clock and cancelled our boat saying there was an issue with a prop. We had to cancel with two other couples coming out on the boat and then when we got to the dock this morning, we saw them putting the boat back in the water and we said well if it's functioning, can we take the boat out and they said yes. Well the Boat went no more than 6 knots which is below the speed limit in Lake union and we had to go all the way across from Kirkland to Andrews Bay it took an hour. We almost had to call twice for a tow. They still charged us. They gave us a discount, but they still charged us a good chunk of money for that boat, even though it wasn't functioning properly and they claimed we were out for eight hours what were we supposed to do? Just not go out in the boat and not go watch the blue angels? The boat barely ran - literally if we tried to go over 3000 RPMs the boat would just spin out in the engine wouldn't work anymore. When we got there in the morning at 10:30 AM, the entire bathroom was out of toilet paper when we came back at 6:30 PM, was out of toilet paper again. L A very sad excuse for a Marina! Do not ever go near this place to rent a boat that's all I can say. They'll give you a boat that doesn't run and charge you anyway. Stay away! read more

Showed up at 3:55 to get gas for my 40 ft boat.. the guys where here leaving the station and I waited about 10 minutes for them to come out like they usually do. I finally went in and they where leaving. I asked to get gas and they refused. Looks like they're missing out on $1,000 I'll go to another gas station and won't be coming back. TUCKED WAY back in by the shore is the gas dock. If you're out and need some fuel, this was pretty handy. anything larger than 40 might have a tight squeeze though. The dock attendants were all very helpful and guided us in. Prices were in line with getting gas on the lake - pricey. They do need better signs to the fuel dock from the water side, we had a tough time finding it initially. read more

Favorite place on the lake to buy gas or get service. Friendly staff, easy in and out, nice shop for snacks and basics. They also did our annual service and didn't up-sell stuff we didn't need on a well maintained boat. read more

As many other reviews have called out, service is not great. The manager Cameron really sets a horrible tone and I was shocked at how he spoke to customers. Owner should really consider replacing management, I've never had an experience like that, extremely hostile and abrasive. read more

I rented a runabout from Yarrow Bay Marina twice this summer; both times were for 8 hours--a full day. Each time the staff was polite and helpful, and the boat, a Sea Ray Bowrider, was clean and in very good condition. The price has recently gone up to $695 full day rate, which is about $850 when you add in tax and fuel. I recommend getting there an hour early to get through the required paperwork, boat check, and basic instructions before you set out on the lake. Also note that all drivers must be present for the instructions. I give 4/5 stars because the price is reasonable but not a bargain, and the Sea Rays are very good but not awesome. It's so nice to have a boat whenever we want without the hassles of ownership. read more

It looks like almost all reviews are about their boat rental experiences so I thought I should write a review on their service department. First of all, owning boat is very rewarding and also very expensive. Having said that finding a mechanic you can trust is a very important aspect of the boat ownership. This is where Jim comes in. Jim is the main mechanic in the shop who I work wiht and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. People say how expensive things are in Lake Washington which is true but before you blindly trust other shops because they are far from Lake WA, please do your homework. I wish I could find a car mechanic like Jim in this area who I can trust 100%. read more

I've been a loyal boat rental customer for five years. Especially for SeaFair weekend and we always book well in advance. Staff have always treated us wonderfully and the equipment was always in excellent condition. This year, the owner has chosen to increase the SeaFair weekend rental rate to over $800 for an 8 hour rental of a small boat. That's a $300 increase just for SeaFair! This greedy price gouging has cost them a recurring customer, for any day of the year. read more

BACKGROUND: I have a friend who is a frequent customer here and experienced boat driver. I asked him where he would recommend for boat rental. He gave me Yarrow Bay Marina's website. I looked it up. Everything seems pretty legit so I decided to book with it. RESERVATION I called a week in advance to make my reservation. On the website, it says "If you're 25 years of age or older, you, too, can find out why boat rentals are so popular with Yarrow Bay Marina customers." Right before my call, I thought maybe I would be unable to make this reservation since I am not 25 years old just yet. However, I decided to call anyway because the age restriction was not mentioned under "How do I reserve a boat" section. I called and the first thing I said on the phone was something like "hey I want to make a reservation for next week. But can I still make a reservation over the phone since I am not 25?" The guy who answered my call was like "Oh yea, this is not a problem." I followed up "Well my friend who is over 25 years old will be our boat driver. Should I have my boat driver friend call you instead to make this reservation?" The guy told me it would be okay and he took down my name, phone number, and credit card information. The guy was really nice. He asked me which kind of boat I would prefer. I was so confused and I was like could you explain the two different models you have? He said no problem and basically V8 has a stronger engine. So I went with V8 engine. My card was charged $54 deposit a couple of days after my call. I thought everything would be okay. PARKING I called a day before my reservation for parking instructions. I selected option 1 and was ready to listen in for pre-recorded parking instructions, instead, a staff picked up. I asked if there are any parking lots nearby, he just said yeah there is one paid lot right next to their business and he thinks it is $5 for two hours or something like that. I was like oh okay and can I also just confirm my reservation for the following day. He said no problem. He looked over my reservation and asked if my reservation was under "Maria George." I said no, my last name initial is "G" but my last name is not "George." He said oh that's okay but we do have everything ready for next day. BOAT RIDE The place is not too difficult to find. You go in and tell them you have a reservation. They ask everyone to arrive at least 15 minutes before reservation. Confusions started before our boat ride. Since the reservation was under my name and deposit was charged on my credit card, they were going to take my driver's license information down. I was cautious and asked again "well, I am not 25. Do you want to take down my boat driver's license then?" This staff was like oh yeah we will have to change your reservation name and he took down my friend's license information. The boat ride was absolutely fantastic. The boat was safe to navigate. My friends and I had a blast. PAYMENT This is where everything got really confusing. After the boat ride, I went up to this older guy (I think he is the owner?) and told him that we were ready to pay for our boat rental sessions. He seemed confused that my credit card was charged since I am not 25. He told me his staff was not supposed to charge my credit card. I was like okay well that's fine and can I just pay with my credit card? He said no and he could only accept credit card from our boat driver and everyone else has to pay cash. I was not prepared because I told my friends I would make full payment on my credit card. I also told everyone else to bring cash so they can pay me back that way. So at this time, I didn't have any cash with me, my boat driver friend was caught off guard as well because he only brought so much money with him. My friends and I were also confused. The owner did not seem happy and re-iterated how his staff should not have charged my credit card in the first place. I was like okay but also told him I asked his staff up front when I made the phone call. He told me then this staff should be fired because that is against the policy. I asked him then what about my deposit charged on my credit card. He said you can't get it back. I was so upset and asked for clarifications. He was like yeah we will subtract your deposit from your total amount. I was like oh okay then that is fine because initially he made it sound like I would never get my deposit back. So in the end, my friends all paid cash. My boat driver paid with his credit card. I later re-funded however much I owe my boat driver friend. IMPROVEMENTS 1. Have pre-recorded instructions for nearby parking lots when customers call in and select 1 as an option 2. Clearly note on the website that you must be 25 years and older to rent a boat. I hope his staff does not get fired because of this. read more

Great service and responsiveness. Great prices and terrific experience overall with renting speedboats every time I've had guests in town. Definitely recommend speeding around lake WA with a tube.... Only venture into Lake Union if you have plenty of time on your hands, since you have to boat sooooo slowly while getting to lake union. If you do go in there, be sure to dock at Ivars and grab some chowder... it's kinda a neat unique drive-through (up) experience. read more

Enjoyed walking along the docks after a wonderful meal. You can rent boats for a fun time on the water, but its a tad bit cold to do that. I'm certain in the summer it will be a blast. Very clean and quiet. We enjoyed our time taking in the sunset and walking. read more

I first started using the shop 18 years ago for our family boats and it had been 9 years since I've had my own boat. Last week I had to bring in my boat for repair and Jim recognized me with a smile and said he hadn't seen me in a long time. A few hours after drop off they had my problem diagnosed and started figuring out a plan to get me back on the water. Enjoy all the trappings of having your personal speedboat, without really having to own one. A small company with great customer service. With gas and taxes the boats run about 150 to 200 an hour but it is well worth it. Take it out for a day or just for an afternoon lunch on the water. All you need is a drivers license and very basic knowledge of boating, and they will give you a temporary boating license. read more

Yarrow Bay Marina is a very well run operation. The runabout boat we rented was pristine, and the staff was excellent. We were having a wonderful time until we experienced an injury due to a rogue wake. The staff was very helpful and bandaged up our daughter so we could leave for some further medical assistance. I rented boats from these guys twice. I had called in June to make a reservation for the Fourth of July and for Seafair, as there are not many options in the area to rent boats. The one who took down my reservation was fine, I had two boats booked for the Fourth and two for Seafair. Unfortunately, we were not going to have enough people for the Fourth, so I called back to cancel one of the boats. The guy I spoke to was pretty rude and dismissive, but said that he handled it. I called back to confirm the time of the reservation a few days in advance and the guy on the phone (I think his name was Cameron) informs me that I had canceled my reservation and did not have one. I explained that I canceled one boat but still needed the other. He says, "Okay, I've got you down for the Fourth, one boat." We show up and as I feared, there is no reservation. I explain to the manager what happened. He says it will be okay and we get a boat. The next day, they call me and tell me that I have a reservation that day. Looks like they had messed it up and reserved for the 5th, which is why it looked like I had no reservation on the 4th. Fast forward to Seafair. My friend's car breaks down with 4 of our riders and they won't be able to make it on the boat before we have to go under the log boom. I call to let the manager know this. When we arrive he informs me there will be a $270 non-refundable charge since we didn't cancel in advance. I get that they have a policy like this, but there is no wiggle room, considering their car broke down? I also show him that he has charged 3 $54 charges on to my credit card. He says, "You have to call Monday. We aren't dealing with that today." He basically called me a LIAR in front of other customers 3 times before I pulled my Chase app up on my phone and showed him. He then informed me that this was all MY fault, because I called a couple of times to change my reservation. I had called once to change the time, once to book out more boats for Seafair, and once to confirm. However, I'm polite, so I apologize to HIM for the inconvenience. At the end of the day when we return the boat, he tells me, and I quote, "We're just going to charge you for the boat you had today, since the other policy is kind of new. I refunded $54 back to you for the other deposit." 2 days later, $270 comes out, regardless that he said he wasn't going to charge that, and still no reverse charge of $54. If you have an issue free rental, where you just go out for a day and your boat is fine, it's probably fine. HOWEVER, lord help you if you need ANY customer service, because you will not get it from here. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Not very impressive when you rent boats with ripped upholstery, dented fiberglass, no stereos and after market replacement seats with little padding that are 6" off the ground. When you are then blamed for damage you never caused and charged $100 for it? Pretty sad. I guess this explains why I was the only one who rented a boat on a 90 degree August day. My wife and our family recently rented a boat from Yarrow Bay! While we had a wonderful time out on the water, the staff was not helpful in answering my questions or my wife's. My wife and I have never boated before and we some basic questions about how to operate the boat and the person helping us did not help us at all. I forgot the name of who was helping us, but he had long black hair and an ear bud for music plugged in the whole time. My wife had to repeat herself many times asking what to fill out since this was our first time here. He barely answered the questions and if he did he said very brief things or said everything will be "okay". Behind the counter also was an older looking guy which I would assume would be his boss or manger and he did not help with answering the questions either. Instead we went outside an had a cigarette. Now fast forward to the boat, he went over the boat very quickly. In the end everything went good! We had a good time out on the water and docking was easy since they help you! Our family just had an unfortunate start. I would still recommend to rent a boat here! read more
