We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant while looking for vegetarian options in Petaluma. Aqus Cafe actually has two menus, with plenty of meat options as well. We chose to share a delicious Spinach Fig salad, with fresh spinach, goat cheese, tomatoes and pecans with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The Veggie Friday panini contained roasted asparagus, roasted sweet peppers, eggplant, portobello mushrooms, goat cheese and sun-dried tomato spread. Order at the counter, choose a table and the food is brought out very quickly. Folks at the counter were very nice. The beer and wine choices are excellent to complement the dishes. The night we were there the poetry club was also meeting . In addition there are other community events and live music on some evenings. Overall, the restaurant has a warm and welcoming ambiance.

Aqus Cafe is located at the Foundry Wharf, just a short walk from downtown Petaluma. It's a cozy, casual, artsy cafe offering an extensive menu of sandwiches, salads, coffees, and more! And they offer free wifi. The vibe is local and community-focused with live music and other fun events. Aqus was hopping on a recent rainy weekday when we stopped in for a working lunch - there was a local writing group taking up the big table in the center (very cool!), and lots of other folks filling the inside tables. I may choose a quieter spot for getting work done in the future, but I'd definitely return for music and events. We tried the chicken pesto panini, which came with a side salad. The sandwich was substantial and tasty, and the greens were fresh. You order and pay at the counter, get a number and your food will be delivered to your table. They also have a handful of tables outside, which would be delightful on a non-rainy day.

The Veggie Friday Panini was outstanding and so delicious! The sauce was so delicious that I could not taste any graininess in the goat cheese! I loved the portobello mushrooms and goat cheese!

    Chicken Enchilada casserole

What the heck is this?! The most bland chicken enchilada casserole. All I taste is tortilla and fat chunks of dried chicken and melted cheese. No sauce, or extra sauce on the side. My work orders from this place almost weekly and the food is 1st never appetizing looking and 2nd not good at all. I'm going to start documentatiing the food I get here because it's so bad and definitely not worth 4 stars.

Great vibes, friendly staff, and good coffee! I've been loving Aqus lately as a spot to get work done. It can get pretty busy (and a bit noisy inside), but there are plenty of outdoor tables too. They also host fun writing groups, live music, and other community events. The menu has a ton of options, which can be a little overwhelming at first but totally worth exploring. If you haven't stopped by yet, you're missing out!

Aqus is one of the best cafes in Petaluma, if not the best. The service is quick and friendly, and the food and drinks are great! There is ample indoor seating, and the inside has a warm cozy vibe. Aqus is a great third space for meeting with friends, or getting some work done! The menu has lots of options from small bites to full meals. It was a nice day out today so I decided to go with an iced caramel latte. It wasn't too sweet or milky, which I loved. I also love when cafes give out reusable glass cups and plates to use within the restaurant instead of plastic. Overall I would definitely recommend!

Made a pit stop here, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it was! We loved the aqus flat bread. We also got the aqus flatbread, Mediterranean flatbread, salmon nicoise salad, and smoked chicken flatbread. The aqus was my favorite. I thought it might be too rich, but the duck and gorgonzola were well balanced, and the duck was juicy. The menu was really well priced, which was unexpected considering all the fresh ingredients.

It seems to serve some kind of purpose for goth and punk teenagers and their beloved skateboards which is sweet and added a star to this review, but I think that they too deserve a better cleaning crew. We ordered the Uncle Vido and the spicy Hawaiian, and I am still thinking about both. The crust had that perfect thin, slightly crispy bite but did not fall apart under all the toppings, which feels like an art form. The Uncle Vido was rich and savory in that "one more slice, okay one more" kind of way, while the spicy Hawaiian totally surprised me. Sweet, salty, and a little kick of heat, just chaotic enough to be addictive. You can tell they are not just throwing pizzas together here. Everything feels intentional and dialed in. The service was outstanding from start to finish, but what really impressed me was seeing Chef/Owner Tony Najiola actively overseeing every aspect of the operation. He visited tables, checked on guests, and was clearly involved in every detail of the dining experience. That's something you rarely see anymore, especially from a restaurant owner who has been doing this for more than two decades, and it deserves to be applauded. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The shoestring zucchini was a great starter, the lobster risotto was rich and perfectly prepared, and the Testarossa pizza was absolutely outstanding. Pairing it all with a Pliny the Elder made for a perfect Sonoma County dinner. Central Market isn't just a great restaurant, it's the kind of place that reminds you why locally owned restaurants matter. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Petaluma.

This review reflects my experience with the restaurant's gift card process and, more specifically,…read morethe lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability from owner Tony Najiola over the course of several months. This review is not a reflection of the restaurant's food, service, or dining experience. In November 2025 I purchased a $150 gift card through Central Market's website via Toast. The gift card was never received. I first reached out in February 2026 to inquire about the missing gift card. Tony responded the following day suggesting that I may have been scammed. After I clarified that the purchase was made directly through Central Market's website, he acknowledged that he had misunderstood, stated that this was a known issue, and told me he would contact Toast to investigate. March 2026: A month passed with no update whatsoever. I called the restaurant and spoke with Tony directly. He told me that I would need to contact Toast myself--a completely different answer from what had previously been discussed. April 2026: I informed Tony via email that Toast's customer service system specifically states that support is intended for restaurant businesses, not customers. I followed up again by email on 4/30 asking if he had received my message and whether there was any update. I have received no response since. What is most disappointing is the lack of clarity and consistency throughout this process. At various points, I was told I may have been scammed, then told it was a known issue that would be investigated, and finally told to resolve it myself through a company that does not provide support to customers in this situation. Not once was there a proactive update, clear explanation, or meaningful attempt to resolve the issue. More than five months after paying $150, I still do not have the gift card (which was intended as a Christmas present for a close friend), a refund, or even the courtesy of a response to my follow-up emails. When a business takes a customer's money, there should be some level of accountability when something goes wrong. At this point, I can only conclude that customer service is not a priority. The complete lack of communication and follow-through has left me feeling that my concerns--and my business--simply do not matter. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others against purchasing gift cards through their website.
