He was about to walk away and I asked if he was going to do any nail care such as cuticles as mine definitely needed some attention and he said it's always an extra charge and then sat back down, rushed through the cuticle cut and looked very annoyed. I sat there for two hours requesting a green to black ombre from the beginning. There were about 4 to 5 employees who throughout my experience there came over to my technician, spoke amongst themselves in their own language and kept repeating the word ombré without saying anything to me about it, after an hour and a half, the girl was sitting there on her merry way filing these nails and I was just like it's been over 90 minutes and you have yet to apply paint I need to leave. I have a life. As they are about to start applying the ombré which they have been so confused about since the beginning (even though it is the service that I scheduled and booked!) they then started putting light grey powder at the end of my fingertips. I cried all the way home because I paid $80 and wasted 2 1/2 hours of my life for a product that I did not ask for. The nails are fine but it is 2024. We deserve to not pay $80 for things that we don't like or ask for. there are plenty of nail salons and lounges in Medford/Somerville/ in the area. Not to mention the layout of this place ? It gave me bad vibes from the moment I stepped in. It's literally like an assembly line of nail workers. If you want to get your nails done, sitting in inch next to two other people on either side , you may enjoy this place. Not only did two nails get infected, but my nails are so weak I cannot get them to grow. They constantly split and break. Run so far away from this salon! I used to love coming here, but the service I experienced today was enough to make me "break up" with this nail salon. I usually walk in, but after the last couple times where the front desk seems annoyed by this (though they accept walk ins!), I decided to book an appointment online. I also requested my gel manicure with Daisy as my nail tech, as the last time I was here she did an incredible job on my nails. However, before arriving to my appointment, I received a notification that my service had changed to "any staff". I dismissed it, assuming I would still see Daisy and maybe that just meant my appointment would be pushed back later or it was something on the scheduling side of things. I needed to get a pedicure in addition to the gel manicure anyways. Needless to say, I wasn't serviced by Daisy. I'm flexible and I haven't had a truly poor experience with anyone at this salon up until today, so I went in with an open mind. I was seen by a male nail tech who did an awful job with my nails. The attention to detail wasn't there. I explained what I wanted color wise repeatedly and still was not given then right color. Not to mention, he was beyond lazy with the application as well. My nail shape was not consistent and he gave me attitude when I asked him to fix it. It was not a pleasant experience. Ultimately, I asked him to remove the polish as I wasn't happy, which I'm fortunate he did. I went to pay and while he didn't give me a ticket since I didn't leave with polish on my nails, the front desk man made him charge me. $80 for a $57 pedicure! Absolutely insane to me. Extremely disappointed in this salon. I even asked why I wasn't seen by Daisy and was given no clear answer. An unreal experience and waste of time and money. Overall, I hope this was a one-off thing for them, but the service today was enough to cut ties with this salon. However, Tina, the nail tech who did my pedicure, was an absolute angel. I'm always impressed by how fast they work here, no matter what condition my nails are in I'm always in and out in under an hour. The salon itself is pretty and clean, though it's a bit tight so you're pretty close to the person next to you (I'm always glad everyone here wears masks). They have a great color selection and offer all the standard services. I get a pretty basic manicure, but I've seen other get great nail art and one time the woman next to me was unhappy with her design and they rescheduled her for the next day to have it redone for free. They always fix chips for free as well, and it's easy to get a reservation so I'm happy with the service all around. I will preface this review by saying I am the most picky woman on the planet. I went to AR Nail Bar per a neighbor's reco for a pedi and dip mani. Immediately upon walking in, the man at the front desk was so nice and helped me figure out which dip powders had matching regular polish for my toes! This seems like a basic thing but let me tell ya- most places don't have that figured out so easily! They have TONS of colors and it was extremely clean and modern which I loved. Vi did an amazing job on my pedicure and a great foot/leg rub! :) The pedi chairs are spaced out nicely (although my only "complaint" would be the nail station setup- I was on top of the girl next to me and everyone seemed smushed together when the entire other side of the salon looked open? Not a problem but something to consider if you're extra COVID conscious.) Hana did my dip mani and not only was she speedy and efficient, but she did an awesome job!!!! Horrible Service. Bad Management. Believe all the bad reviews. Don't be fooled by their smiling faces. This has to be one of the worse ran nail salons I've been to. The staff and nail technicians are rude and do subpar work. Nice at first but are real nasty once they work on your nails. They try to make the place look sophisticated but it's far from it. For starters the front desk receptionist Jennifer talks to walk-in-clients like dogs when the owner is away so you kind of get what your going to be in for. As for my personal experience, I've been here on four occasions for a nail dip and each time was bad. First technician was Emma who was thirty minutes late for my first appointment. All my years going to nail salons I've never experienced this kind of lateness from nail techs. Then she ended up cutting my real nails under the nail tips because she was rushing through the service. Then there was Hanna who was also thirty minutes late for my appointment. She came over with a bad attitude and didn't bother apologizing. Work ethics here are sloppy. She removed the previous nail dip, saw the broken nail left by Emma and decided to put the nail tip over a broken finger nail. I had to stop her and ask to have my real nails filed. She argued with me but I was not letting it go until she unwillingly did it. This place charges $65 but the service doesn't reflect the high price. I had to call the owner the next day who verified that filing a clients nails when removing a dip powder is in fact part of the service. So here's were the lack of professionalism gets worse. They have this policy that if a nail tech messes up on your nails you can call it in immediately & they will fix it free of charge. However, this comes with a price. The nail tech will be rude & unprofessional. With my last appointment with Hanna she filed my nails unevenly causing each hand to look different (bc she was rushing). I called immediately, spoke to the owner and was told I could come in. Per usual, Hanna was 15 minutes late for my appointment (mind you the place is empty) and tries to hand me off to some other technician. She said she had another appointment and I asked how since my appointment was with her. So essentially, she wanted to move to a new client for more money. I pushed back & told her that I booked an appointment with her so she should fix it. At no point was I rude to her but I was firm. At this point I knew this would be my last time coming to this nail salon. Also, after several bad experiences I didn't want the hassle of starting with a new tech especially since the majority of them can't do nail at that location. So Hanna decided to run & tell the receptionist that she didn't want to work on my nails but was sent back by the rude male receptionist. So while she's working on my nails, this rude receptionist (if you read through the many bad reviews you'll see that people have complained about his rudeness before) comes over and starts pressuring Hanna to rush through the service to work on a walk in. When done, I approached the rude receptionist and told him that what he did was unprofessional and that I would be leaving a bad review. Do yourself a favor listen to all the bad reviews on google. This place is not worth the trip. They charge you $$$$ and the nail technicians are unprofessional, rude and inconsistent with doing nails. The owner has know idea how her staff treats customers or she just doesn't care. All around bad management. I found another salon in assembly that is more professional and organized. read more

I wanted my dip removed and a regular manicure. I assumed dip removal would be max $5 extra considering it's usually included in the price. They charged me $20 to remove the dip, plus the price of a manicure. Yes, it's listed on their menu which I didn't look at ahead of time so my bad I guess. But damn, I guess I should've gone to my regular place for a full dip manicure at that price! I usually never leave reviews, but am so disappointed in the quality that you get from this salon for the price you pay. This is my THIRD time having my nails chip within days after my appointment. The first time with acrylics I thought it was the nail polish, they were kind about it and fixed for free although they immediately chipped afterwards again. This time with just a plain gel manicure (that was $50 with tip) they are already starting to chip after 3 days. The salon is very beautiful inside and I especially love the pedicure area. I recently had a great pedicure here with a nice long massage. My one complaint is that I wish they did better callus treatment, however the service is pretty on par with other salons in the area. After my great pedicure I decided to come back for a dip manicure. That experience was not as good. For starters the chairs are very uncomfortable and will probably give you a backache. I have been doing dip manicures since 2018 and this was definitely one of the strangest experiences. When I first sat, my nail tech took one layer of just the color off my nail and then started doing dip on top of the old dip that was already there. It seemed like it could have been her first time doing dip. No big deal, I explained what I wanted and then she did that. Then when she was using the machine to take the nails off, stuff was flying everywhere. Pieces of nail were getting in my eyes and my hair. Even more terrible was when the nail tech was clipping my nails, and huge pieces of my nail we're hitting the two poor ladies on either side of me. It was so awkward, I kept apologizing to them but my nail tech kept doing it. The one thing I liked was that she used the cuticle clipper to clean up some of my cuticles which I find a lot of places do not do with dip manicures because they use the machine. That was the only plus. No hand massage or anything like that either. I'll definitely go there for pedicures but I'm sticking with Elegant Nails for manicures. Edit: Dip manicure started lifting after a week and a half. I've never had a dip manicure last less than 4 weeks when getting them at other salons. read more

Stopped by today to get a gel manicure. The salon has been open for 2 weeks and is conveniently right next to the Assembly Row T station/Partners building. I stopped by to look at the space earlier and was easily able to make an appointment for the same day, although they do take walk-ins too. This space is beautiful and serene. They have a great selection of colors. Everything is super clean, new instruments used and you're given the option of keeping the nail filer at the end. The staff is wonderfully friendly and professional. I'm very happy with my experience and my nails look great. As a bonus for the grand opening period, they offer 15% of all services.
