I've been to this business twice I think in the last few years and really appreciate their professionalism, cleanliness and kindness of the people who are your care providers. They are prompt, efficient and explain everything to you making you feel right at home and no one has ever been rude or short with me. Fantastic service! Went in for a chest x-ray and was in and out faster than any other doctors appointment I have ever had. I mean from walk in the door to back out the door it took maybe 20 mins. The staff were super nice and helpful and explained the process. The location is very nice and clean and I like this location much much better than the one on Ben White. I will still drive to the ARA in San Marcos for my mammograms because I have certain staff there I adore, but will make this Wm. Cannon ARA location my Austin area go to for any other imaging needs. read more

My friend just had a delightful experience at the 360 location, she paid before she went In, didn't have to change clothes and had no problems. I went into this location expecting the same thing and was sorely disappointed. First, I stood there for like 5 minutes waiting to speak with a receptionist, sure no big deal. Next I get brought back and am told I have change, I said I rather not and my clothes were MRI safe (as this was not my first rodeo) and she said it was policy to have us change. I asked if this was company wide and she said yes to which I recounted my friends experience less than a week ago. She still made me change regardless of my verbal uncomfortableness and with the knowledge that her company was not following that rule else where. After the MRI I came out and they were like "you're good to go". I knew I owed money, as my insurance is the exact same as my friends, because we have it through work. They didn't even have my information about how much I owed. I made my appointment a whole week ago and you're telling me you don't have that information prior to the patients visit? Why did I give my insurance information when I scheduled then? I waited an additional 25 minutes after my appointment ended and still nothing. Learned my lesson, this place does not value your time. The office staff at this ARA location went above and beyond to make me and my three young children comfortable while we waited for my daughter's X-ray. My children were hungry as we happened to get the orders prior to lunch, and they brought them crackers. I could not find the main ARA billing office shown to as an option to review; therefore I am posting this review on every ARA Diagnostics Imaging locations in Austin, TX available. My review is not directed in any way towards the people that provide imaging services. The diagnostic staff was very professional and courteous. i would rate the service in the hospital as a 4.5 and I would rate the administration/billing as a "0" My wife received her MRI scans in December, 2015 at a local hospital. She had an out of pocket deductible of $10,000. We obviously owed a lot of money to many different agencies and physicians, 12 to be exact. I worked very diligently during the month of January to set up payments. Of the 12 agencies and physician groups ARA Diagnostic Imaging was the only place that I found difficult to work with; unwilling to accept the amount of money I could afford a month. The representative immediately informed me that according to their policy they payment I could afford was below what could be paid off in 6 months. It didn't matter that I informed them that I had 11 other bills that needed paid every month. So you do the math, if every other business had a policy like ARA, I would have had to come with an extra $1666.67/month to pay off my medical expenses by June 2016. What average working person can afford that amount of money? No one I know. After a long conversation, the ARA rep she would send me information to request a longer payment plan this included leaving a credit card on file for automatic deductions and copies tax return and other financial information. I told her I would continue to pay what I could afford. I wasn't providing them with all my personal information not one of the other businesses needed any personal information to work out a payment plan and that 8 of them had much higher balances. I learned that after 6 months of making monthly payments to ARA Diagnostic Imaging that they decided because I still had a balance due they would report my wife's account to the credit reporting agencies as "NON-PAYMENT." I find this out last month when my wife realizes her credit score has dropped and we look into "why". The ironic part of this is they have received and accepted that payment every month since January 2016. So "How is that non-payment" and "Why do companies get with reporting you to a credit bureau when you are making payments? So in closing, of the original 12, I still have 8 I am paying on but not one of them has reported me to a credit bureau for non-payment. The only way to clear their report to the credit bureau is to pay the total balance off. So what I learned from this experience is: ARA, the company, obviously feels they can bully people into getting their money or else. They have no empathy for people. It's all about the mighty dollar. I have to start this off asking - did Austin Radiological (ARA) help to save my son's life? Yes. Could any other radiological company have done the same? Probably. My problem is not with the ARA services since all work took place in Dell Children's NICU; they interfaced with the docs and nurses (who definitely helped to save my son's life!) over the 2.5 months that we were there. However, once the bills started rolling in it was a completely different story. First off, their bills come in with each chargeable service listed randomly within the bill; that's right - they are not sorted in any way whatsoever. This might be fine if you go in for a single xray and that's all that is on your bill, but my bill was 13 pages long. Add to that that each page comes separately tri-folded within the envelope so you first have to unfold each page of the bill, then try to figure it out. Oh yeah, and there are no page numbers it's just a random assortment of printed pages with no specific order. Each page contains a complete heading with patient/payee/account into. You can probably picture my eyeballs trying to jump between my insurance claim website (conveniently sorted by date of provided service) and having to look through ARA's 13 pages of transactions to find a single line item, in no particular order. When I called in to their support number and asked about this I was told "there's nothing we can use as a unique identifier to sort by that makes sense since submission to insurance and processing can happen haphazardly"; to which I asked about the DATE OF SERVICE. The patient only receives that particular service that they are billed for on a single date - an obvious "unique" field to be sorted by. They may have another xray taken, but if it's on a different date (or the same) it would still make sense to sort your bill using this field since that date can never change. On to their telephone support - I started calling them in September (son was born in mid August) because they had random days within the entire set of billed dates that had no "contractual adjustment", nor any payment by my insurance company - so the total amount due was (incorrectly) to be paid by me. The first time I called in I was assured that it was a timing issue that would be resolved by the time my next statement went out. The next statement arrived (October) and the charges were still there so I called in again. The rep that time told me she completely understood the issue and would work with my insurance company to resolve all 14 line items that were wrong. Fast forward to yesterday when I received the November statement and sure enough, all 14 line items were still there - but now I'm listed as 60 days past due as an added bonus! Dutifully I called in again, but this time I was told by the rep that the previous rep noted on my account that I was going to contact my insurance and clear everything up ... which was never a part of our conversation. I've got around 10 different service providers charging me for medical services that took place over 2.5 months; obviously there were some mistakes, and every time there was a discrepancy between the insurance company and the service provider (SP) all I had to do was make the SP aware of the issue and they contacted the insurance company and cleared it up from there. After all, this essentially put them in the driver seat to get the money owed to them, instead of waiting for me to have the time and inclination to get it resolved. Not so with ARA. Even though clearing this up would get them payment from the insurance company, I was told that it's up to me as the customer to contact my insurance company and resolve the discrepancies with these line items - and until I do I'm responsible for the charges. I've rambled on a bit here - but I can add this 30 minutes onto the numerous hours I've spent trying to figure out a chaotic, nonsensically printed bill from Austin Radiological Ass. or talking to my insurance company trying to resolve this issue so that ARA can get their money and I don't get sent to collections and have my credit report impacted. Obviously we are not going to refuse assistance in an emergency, but my wife and I have already agreed that at no time when we can make the choice, will we ever use ARA again. I don't have hours and hours to spend in futile phone calls trying to ensure my credit score isn't screwed up by their ridiculously inept billing department. It's almost 2014 - put page numbers on your bills, sort your billing line items by something that makes sense, and take ownership of a miscommunication between yourself and the insurance company. I didn't make the mistake, and I'm not looking to make any money off of this deal so I should not be the one having to play middle man between the two of you. They were founded in 1954 and the services may be great - but they need to get their accounting department off of punch card computers and up to the 21st century. read more

This is an update of my first review which was negative because of an over-billing. I received a call from the ARA office the day after my review and... perhaps because I am on Medicare, the bill had been split between the test and the reading. This is a Medicare requirement according to their office. They are looking into the programming to correct this situation for the future. The test really is $75.00. They have refunded my over payment. There may others out there who have had the same thing happen so give the office a call! They are very quick to respond. read more

Very friendly front desk staff and very professional ultrasound technician. Overall, a great experience. Will return to ARA for future procedures. (I did have to resolve a small insurance issue, but it was the fault of the insurance company, not ARA.) read more
