    Hot Chicken Teriyaki

Whose idea was it to serve teriyaki chicken on a sizzling hot skillet as part of the children's menu? Please take note of this--it is a very simple point: children can get burned, even if you warn them.

Jalapeño bomb was a solid 5/5 for us, it was crispy spicy creamy and crunchy! The spicy tuna was yummy on the jalapeno. Loved the textures and taste of the sauces together! The Hanabi roll was good, fish freshness was at 4/5 but I still enjoyed it! Not particularly special but it fulfilled the sushi cravings. The Hurricane was new to me and paired with softshell crab and crushed macadamia nuts, it was a nice mix of textures in every bite. Flavorwise, it was mostly eel and sauce but I enjoyed it! Rolls were both a 4/5 for us. Service was nice and welcoming. We went on a Sunday at 6:30 and the restaurant was near empty :( Ambiance was great!! I really liked the interior of the restaurant and enjoyed it as a short date dinner :)

Love this spot. My friends and I come here at least twice a month. The staff are all super sweet and the sushi is always good. I haven't had a sushi set that I haven't liked from here. They even do delivery! And it comes just as fresh as it would if you were dining in. I always bring my friends to Hanabi at least once if they haven't been here yet. The place is spacious and there's never a long wait, so if you've yet to try this place, you definitely should!

Biked over from our hotel and grabbed a table without waiting on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables inside, good lighting, and nice staff. Large sushi roll menu. We started with the spicy edamame and it was great, to an addicting point. I got the monster roll and the spicy hamachi. Good quality fish, rice was solid, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Solid spot for sushi.

My kid and I love this place! We like that their menu includes both Japanese and Korean food items. Our favorite is their vegetarian sushi rolls. The restaurant is spacious, staff was friendly, the food came out quick, and it was delicious. We'd definitely come back again!

This is our go-to place in Mountain View! I've been here more times than I can count on fingers and toes, as you can see by all the attached photos! The staff here is very friendly and efficient. They always seat us promptly and have items flying out of the kitchen at a fast speed. Between their rolls, donburi, and bento boxes, everything is nicely portioned. Prices are in the mid-pricey range, but so is rent in Mountain View so I get it!! I personally think their donburis are the best bang for your buck as they were very nicely priced and are packed with both rice and main entree. Thank you, Hanabi Sushi Team, for always serving up delish Japanese food with friendly service!!

Came here last night for dinner before a concert. Great quick service, clean and big portions of sashimi. I ordered the combo dinner of chicken teriyaki (sauce on the side) that came with soup and a variety of side choices - I got the California roll. Good food and atmosphere, reasonable prices, we were stuffed and we were happy campers before going to our show!

10/24/2024 Hanabi Sushi 1040 N Rengstorff Ave Ste A1 Mountain View, CA 94043 We went there for lunch after shopping at Costco in the same plaza. The dining area is split between a cozy interior table and chair setup and a larger patio area. We were seated promptly with fast and attentive service. We both chose the lunch combo bentos. Wifey had the beef teriyaki and avocado roll and I had the Saba Shioyaki and Combo Tempura. The miso soup had good flavor and a few small cubes of tofu with kombu. My dainty mackerel filet was moist, tasty and boneless. My one shrimp tempura was hot and juicy with a crispy panko breading. The veggies were yam, carrot, zucchini and cauliflower. The dipping sauce was a little sweet. The beef was medium rare and lean of high quality with good teriyaki flavor. A good place for lunch and conveniently located. May repeat.

We ordered two different types of sushi rolls online. First, we surprised by the large number of items on the menu and felt it was just like a Japanese izakaya:) Crunch Salmon Mango - It was spicy than I expected, but mellowed and balanced by the mango, eel sauce and mayonnaise. Scallop Volcano - I personally prefer this one. Wrapped with three different types of fish (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail), you can enjoy not only sushi rolls but also fried scallops at the same time! I would like to visit the restaurant next time!

This is a nice little sushi place. I've been wanting to try them for a long time. We ordered the Tako Karaage (fried octopus) and 2 sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were pretty good, the fish tasted fresh, and the portions were huge. The fried octopus was a bit tough but tasted good nonetheless. The staff was friendly and attentive.

This time, I used the online Yelp waitlist option and was able to get in much quicker. We were offered bar seats right away, but since we wanted a regular table, we waited just another five to six minutes, which was not bad at all. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and every time someone enters, the servers warmly greet them. Since it was our first time, the server took the time to explain the menu, which made ordering a breeze. Plus, the presentation of the food deserves a solid five out of five! Here is what we ordered: Tonkotsu Udon Deluxe (Large, Medium Spicy): The portion size is huge, and a regular size should easily suffice since I could not even finish the large. The pork kakuni (braised pork belly) was incredibly soft, tender, and packed with flavor, and the broth was really good. This deluxe version comes with everything in the regular Tonkotsu Udon plus pork belly: a rich pork and fish broth, three pieces of premium chashu, shrimp tempura (which I asked for on the side), a seasoned boiled egg, garlic, green onions, boiled spinach, fish powder, and tempura bits. Beef Sukiyaki Nabeyaki Udon (Regular, Mild): This includes sweet and tender beef, a poached egg, maitake mushrooms, onions, green onions, fish cake, and tempura bits. We actually felt the broth on this one was even better than the Tonkotsu. The beef was flavorful and an absolute delight to eat. Vegetable Tempura (A La Carte): Comes with sweet potato, eggplant, pumpkin, corn, maitake mushrooms, and broccoli. The absolute standout was the pumpkin because it was so sweet and tender. It comes with a lower-sodium, light soy sauce that makes dipping the tempura effortless and light. Hot Ginger Orange Sake: A lovely drink made with dried ginger, dried orange, and rosemary. The aroma of orange and rosemary was very calming, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Extras: They also provide a side of spice powder if you want to dial up the heat on your soup. Practical Details: Parking & Waitlist: Visiting on a Saturday means it gets very busy, and you will need to find parking before turning onto Castro Street. Joining the online waitlist ahead of time is definitely the way to go to make getting in smoother. Overall, it is a fantastic spot with wonderful service and incredible udon. We will gladly return!

We were here to celebrate a special occasion and had a reservation for 7:30 PM. We arrived at 7:25, and were told to wait outside because we were five minutes early. Fine. We understood that. What we didn't understand was why we were still standing outside 5, 10, and then 15 minutes later--after our reservation time had already passed. Meanwhile, other guests continued arriving and were also being sent outside to wait. At 7:45 PM, we finally asked how much longer we would be waiting. Instead of an apology, an explanation, or any attempt to make things right, we were simply told to wait some more. At that point, we cancelled our reservation and left. Seriously, what is the point of taking reservations if you have absolutely no intention of honoring them? A reservation is supposed to mean something. If you can't seat people anywhere close to their reserved time, then don't take reservations. And what made the situation even worse was the complete lack of accountability or hospitality from the staff. The waiter wasn't apologetic in the slightest. No "I'm sorry for the wait," no acknowledgment that they had failed to honor our reservation, and no attempt to salvage the experience--nothing. For a place charging around $200 per person, we were prepared to spend close to $1,000 for a meal for four people. That is not the way paying customers should be treated, especially when we were there to celebrate a special occasion. We weren't asking for special treatment. We simply expected the reservation we made to be honored and to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Apparently, that was too much to ask. Instead, we were left standing outside well past our reservation time, with no explanation and no apology, while the restaurant continued sending more paying customers outside to wait. Absolutely unacceptable. Poor organization, poor communication, and zero customer service. If you can't manage your reservations, at least have the courtesy to acknowledge the inconvenience you're causing your guests. Needless to say, we left--and we won't be back. There are plenty of restaurants happy to take $1,000 from four customers without making them feel like an inconvenience. I can also make it more sarcastic and devastating, with a few lines that really drive home the irony of a high-end restaurant treating a $1,000 party this way.

I was really hoping this would be a *the* place to go to if I wanted to treat myself to omakase without needing to make a trip. At $290 pp, I felt like the menu is worth it for the ingredients but the chef wasn't always able to execute properly. The menu is quite interesting as you get some unique pieces like octopus mouth, but when we had it, it felt a bit chewy. But overall, the menu felt special and there were a lot of bites we enjoyed! Most omakases follow a usual rhythm, and I was definitely surprised here as some pieces were less predictable. We got the five sake sampler and all the sakes were very good! I wish it was more of a pairing style though. I think it would have elevated the experience more if the waiter had shared what kind of bites each sake goes well with. The atmosphere was beautiful and calming - it's what I would expect at an omakase. The service was good but there were times when the waitress collected my plates while I was mid-bite.
