Love this spot. My friends and I come here at least twice a month. The staff are all super sweet and the sushi is always good. I haven't had a sushi set that I haven't liked from here. They even do delivery! And it comes just as fresh as it would if you were dining in. I always bring my friends to Hanabi at least once if they haven't been here yet. The place is spacious and there's never a long wait, so if you've yet to try this place, you definitely should!

Biked over from our hotel and grabbed a table without waiting on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables inside, good lighting, and nice staff. Large sushi roll menu. We started with the spicy edamame and it was great, to an addicting point. I got the monster roll and the spicy hamachi. Good quality fish, rice was solid, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Solid spot for sushi.

This is our go-to place in Mountain View! I've been here more times than I can count on fingers and toes, as you can see by all the attached photos! The staff here is very friendly and efficient. They always seat us promptly and have items flying out of the kitchen at a fast speed. Between their rolls, donburi, and bento boxes, everything is nicely portioned. Prices are in the mid-pricey range, but so is rent in Mountain View so I get it!! I personally think their donburis are the best bang for your buck as they were very nicely priced and are packed with both rice and main entree. Thank you, Hanabi Sushi Team, for always serving up delish Japanese food with friendly service!!

Came here last night for dinner before a concert. Great quick service, clean and big portions of sashimi. I ordered the combo dinner of chicken teriyaki (sauce on the side) that came with soup and a variety of side choices - I got the California roll. Good food and atmosphere, reasonable prices, we were stuffed and we were happy campers before going to our show!

10/24/2024 Hanabi Sushi 1040 N Rengstorff Ave Ste A1 Mountain View, CA 94043 We went there for lunch after shopping at Costco in the same plaza. The dining area is split between a cozy interior table and chair setup and a larger patio area. We were seated promptly with fast and attentive service. We both chose the lunch combo bentos. Wifey had the beef teriyaki and avocado roll and I had the Saba Shioyaki and Combo Tempura. The miso soup had good flavor and a few small cubes of tofu with kombu. My dainty mackerel filet was moist, tasty and boneless. My one shrimp tempura was hot and juicy with a crispy panko breading. The veggies were yam, carrot, zucchini and cauliflower. The dipping sauce was a little sweet. The beef was medium rare and lean of high quality with good teriyaki flavor. A good place for lunch and conveniently located. May repeat.

We ordered two different types of sushi rolls online. First, we surprised by the large number of items on the menu and felt it was just like a Japanese izakaya:) Crunch Salmon Mango - It was spicy than I expected, but mellowed and balanced by the mango, eel sauce and mayonnaise. Scallop Volcano - I personally prefer this one. Wrapped with three different types of fish (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail), you can enjoy not only sushi rolls but also fried scallops at the same time! I would like to visit the restaurant next time!

This is a nice little sushi place. I've been wanting to try them for a long time. We ordered the Tako Karaage (fried octopus) and 2 sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were pretty good, the fish tasted fresh, and the portions were huge. The fried octopus was a bit tough but tasted good nonetheless. The staff was friendly and attentive.

The things we ordered included: Yuzu ceviche- This was delicious. The house made chips resembled ruffles and the ceviche was actually very refreshing. I couldn't stop taking bites out of it. Hints of citrus plus tomato, cucumbers, this was the perfect appetizer for clearing the palate before a meal. Ankimo - Monkfish liver, this dish was decent. The ponzu really shined and it wasn't fishy at all. Also oddly refreshing. The liver tasted like a paste almost. Sake carpaccio- Smooth, sweet, and light. The salon was nicely seared and tasted wonderful. Yakiniku Kochijan- The pizza crust was light and flaky and the cheese had an amazing cheese pull. The kimchi was subtle but it was definitely present in flavor. Jako Mentaiko Meshi- Dried fish and cod roe clay pot rice. The rice was super crispy and the dried fish had a ton of flavor. When mixed in thoroughly with the rice it just brings out the essence of the fish and the flavor. Overall, a solid spot!

Our waiter who was genuinely lovely the entire time told us not to worry and said we could just keep it. Our kids started eating it, and then a few minutes later he came back looking embarrassed because the manager told him he had to take it back. After the kids had already eaten some of it. Super awkward and honestly not the waiter's fault at all. Then later the same manager came over to tell us we couldn't drink an outside beverage at the table. Totally understand restaurants having policies, but the way everything was handled just felt cold and uncomfortable. The food itself was decent, and the waiter did his best, but overall the experience was bizarre because of the management. With so many other great spots around with better hospitality, I don't think we'd come back.

I was really hoping this would be a *the* place to go to if I wanted to treat myself to omakase without needing to make a trip. At $290 pp, I felt like the menu is worth it for the ingredients but the chef wasn't always able to execute properly. The menu is quite interesting as you get some unique pieces like octopus mouth, but when we had it, it felt a bit chewy. But overall, the menu felt special and there were a lot of bites we enjoyed! Most omakases follow a usual rhythm, and I was definitely surprised here as some pieces were less predictable. We got the five sake sampler and all the sakes were very good! I wish it was more of a pairing style though. I think it would have elevated the experience more if the waiter had shared what kind of bites each sake goes well with. The atmosphere was beautiful and calming - it's what I would expect at an omakase. The service was good but there were times when the waitress collected my plates while I was mid-bite. This place is a bit of a love-hate relationship for me, and it's hard to explain. Things started off pretty smoothly. Based on reviews, I was excited to see that they offer both good sushi and ramen--and that part is true. The sushi is really good and solid overall: fresh fish, flavorful roll combinations, and well-balanced rice/ingredient ratios. The ramen is decent. The broth is flavorful, though the chashu doesn't quite compare to what you'd get at a dedicated ramen shop. Still, it's nice to have ramen as an option, especially when dining with a group. That said, service took longer than expected, especially considering ramen is usually quick to prepare. To their credit, they noticed the delay and offered us complimentary edamame, which we appreciated. About 45 minutes in, the restaurant started filling up fast. We were almost finished but decided to order sweet shrimp nigiri, something we always try when it's available. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. Once the crowd came in, it became very difficult to get the staff's attention due to the influx of both dine-in and online orders. At least three other tables around us were also missing items or had orders forgotten--just like us. We placed our nigiri order at 5:34 p.m. and didn't receive the two pieces until nearly 7:00 p.m. We didn't even realize how long we had waited until we were leaving. Ironically, once we mentioned it to an employee, the order came out in less than five minutes. The explanation given to multiple tables was that there were too many online orders and they couldn't stop them (??) To me, this felt more like a communication and prioritization issue. Dine-in customers shouldn't be waiting 45 minutes for two pieces of nigiri or a single maki roll. They did offer us 10% off the bill, but it didn't fully make up for the frustrating experience. The food itself is undeniably good, and this place has a lot of potential. However, I wouldn't gamble my time here again unless the service issues are addressed. I really hope they find a better system, because the quality of the food deserves it.
