This is my favorite vegan Thai restaurant. They have the best pad Thai. They also have an amazing breakfast buffet on Sundays. It's all good! But I always get the pad Thai and the mixed veggies and spring rolls. They have amazing sweet black sticky rice. Don't knock it till you try it. You will be pleasantly pleased! Went to Araya's Place last night for my birthday and was blown away! I ordered the pineapple curry and it was the best Thai meal I have ever eaten! The price was great and the portions were good size. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us select our food. Only thing I was not too impressed with was the cheesecake. It was more like a jello dessert. Didn't taste bad, just not cheesecake-like. Our new favorite restaurant!! Too bad we have to commute from Everett just to get amazing Vegan Thai food!! read more

We ate here the other night for the first time. I'm a big fan of Thai food but I'm not vegan and love the flavors of meat and seafood in Thai dishes so I was initially a little apprehensive. There is no place like it in Seattle, or in Washington State or on the West Coast I imagine. A Vegan Thai restaurant with a great buffet, that includes fresh mixed baby salad greens with spicy dressing, fresh fruit, Pad Thai, a delicious curry with both fried and soft tofu and potatoes, hot/sour soup, brown rice, fried spring rolls, veggie stir fry, black bean dessert, and way more! Gods and Goddesses , beautiful waitresses, smiling cooks, fresh clean water. Its a dream that came true, and their new location is on the long block after 52nd Ave on University Way. They make by far the best vegan Thai food around. I've had their avocado curry, their lunch buffet (yummy spring rolls!), black sticky rice pudding, and I feel like so many other things on their menu, as I've been there more than half a dozen times. They also make a good Thai iced tea. The wait staff is so nice, and my aunt actually asked her how to say stuff in Thai, and she happily obliged! I remember "ka" is a polite way to greet people. Newly relocated on the Ave, this vegan Thai place's only Seattle competition is Thai Tom. I haven't eaten at the new location yet, but the menu is mostly the same they said. Though I've ordered from the menu and always been impressed, it's the lunch buffet that keeps me coming back for more. Soup, noodles, springrolls, spicey condiments, sweets, etc. It's all there. Come back for seconds. Go for thirds! The staff are wonderful and often painfully gorgeous, which keeps me from going for fourths. If you're a vegan, you're going to be eating somewhere within 100 paces from here anyway so go checkitout! read more

pretty solid place. I came here for dinner once. The dinner was underwhelming. Small portion. That could be due to many things. Nonetheless I returned here a second time, because someone said there buffet from 11:30-3:30 was lit. So I came and checked it out. The buffet selection isn't huge, but I almost prefer it that way. Everything was good. Only thing I didn't like was it was tofu in a lot of the dishes, but could easily be avoided tho. Overall cool place, I would only recommend coming in for the buffet tho. Heard really great things about this place so I finally decided to try it last night. Loved that is was all plant based so I didn't have to worry about order mishaps. I ordered off amazon restaurants and bought the fresh rolls, phad phirk khing and phad see-lew. The food arrived cold, no utensils, chopsticks, napkins etc and the fresh rolls were anything but fresh. They were room temp with not very fresh lettuce(took one bite and didn't trust to eat the rest), very plain and dry. Not even my dogs, who love veggies, wanted to eat them when I didn't. The other two dishes were good but didn't think anything too special of them for the prices. read more

Araya is one of our top three all time favorites here in Seattle. We always take visitors here for lunch because the food is so darn good and so consistent. We see families with kids here all the time so we feel quite at ease bringing our son along. Strongly recommend the place for vegetarians, vegans, and thai food lovers. read more

Wed 4/24/13, 6:30: Araya's Place/UD Seattle, Wa: Tried it on our daughter's birthday since she likes Phad See-iew so much, nice ambiance, roomy, friendly staff. The dishes came out pretty fast. Mango Salad: nice crispy tofu, a bit salty, could use more green mango; Phad See-iew: great dish, nicely done tofu and veggie. Drunken Mushroom: over seasoned, heavy salty sauce, and default to veggie meat which was not done well. We preferred tofu but this was not given the options. Waitress recommendation. Neh.... Classic Thai Snow Pea: could use a little more thread noodle, again default to veggie meat, tofu was not given as an option, salty. A house Merlot: warm, could be sitting around a while, no zing.... Clean, updated and roomy restroom. $50 for 3. Overall, great seating, good service but not excellent, good ingredients but skip the spongy veggie meat and the heavy salty sauce, ended up drinking lots of water then skipped desert. A no return. We'll learn how to make Phad See-iew instead. 2 stars read more

Delicious, fresh-tasting, all vegan, actually spicy food, with Chinese and Thai dishes. I love Thai food and as a vegan it's hard to come by especially good tasting food! Great service, plenty of seating, very clean, reasonably priced, plenty of food, great ambience. Need more spice? They offer a 4 spice table dish consisting of a dried spice mix, chilis in oil, chili sauce and mixed peppers in oil. read more

Our favorite Thai restaurant in Seattle, well this and their other location in Madison. We had our first meal in Seattle at Araya's (old location in Bellevue) and truly liked the restaurant. Every dish has been delicious. Favorites: Papaya Salad (Som Tum), Tofu Tod Gatiam, and desserts Sweet sticky rice with mango (seasonal) , and Black sticky rice pudding. Just delicious! read more

I had the pleasure of ordering the Noodle Curry. It had a great flavor and came in a very large bowl. There is a good mixture of curry and vegetables and would recommend it over some other dishes (such as the cashew tofu). Overall not bad for a vegan restaurant, but does leave something to be desired afterwards. read more

My wife and I ha Araya cater our wedding, it was fantastic. However, since they moved the food has not been nearly as good. The Phad Prik Khing seems to use green beans instead of the Chinese long beans that really make the dish. The bean composition has lost it's appealing texture and the Phad Thai has degraded to be comparable to the several other Thai restaurants on the ave. read more

I'm bringing my review up to 5 stars. I have, since my first 3-star review, gone back 2 times for lunch buffet. I have learned that most dishes need the added spices located on the backside of the buffet line. Once added, the food tastes much better! I also have not noticed any more "chemical" taste to the egg roll dip. Their entree mushroom soup is also delicious, which my fiance ordered last time I ate here. read more

The food and service have really gone down in quality over the years. We came here for dinner. We went there with our parents and we ordered the cashew delight, the green curry, and the eggplant with fried tofu. It was overly sweet and salty and both stir fried dishes tasted the same. They have a lunch time buffet here!!! Omg! I usually don't like phad Thai, but this place definitely gave it another chance. They even had a vegetable dish that went great with rice. Only downside of the buffet was that they didn't have pad see iew, if they had that during the buffet, I think I would've died and made this my favorite Thai resturant. read more

Pretty good food for reasonable prices. My only "beef" is that when paying up front separately (I was with a group), our server just told me the amount I owed, neglecting to mention that gratuity was included. The credit card signature slip didn't mention this either, but had suggestions for tipping 15%, 20%, etc. I only figured it out when I asked her why the amount was so much higher that food+tax. I'm sure the restaurant made some extra money that evening by her not being up front about that detail. read more

My rating is for the food, as the waitresses are friendly and the ambiance pleasant. I'm a vegetarian, and I've never enjoyed the food in the four times I've been there(different friends have taken me there because I'm a vegetarian and they've assumed that I'd like it). Also, I have an allergy that I told them about and one of the times it wasn't omitted in my dish. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but want to give my two cents as the rating is so high for this place. I have had lovely meals for half the price that taste much better. But I do enjoy the ambiance of this place. Maybe just a nice place for a cocktail and maybe appetizers for me though. read more
