I just happened to stumble on Lala's instagram, saw her work, and instantly knew I needed to work with her. My mother in law, who never wears makeup, was feeling herself. My mother could not get out of the mirror. My maid of honor, who loves makeup herself, could not stop singing her praises. My husband appreciated her attentiveness as the groom. I called to see if I could come in again to have it fixed and the owner easily made an appointment free of charge. I was set up to have Meli fix my hair and she did an amazing job. Meli made sure to explain everything she was doing to make me feel more comfortable before cutting my hair. She was very empathetic and caring about my bad haircut and triple-checked multiple times to make sure everything was evened out when she finished. I came in thinking that my hair was too far gone to be saved but she was able to make it feel like a brand new haircut without cutting more of the length off. After spending more than 6 hours in the chair, I left with hair that looked completely different from the videos I provided. She even acknowledged that the final result was not what I had originally requested. What concerned me was that throughout the appointment, she repeatedly consulted another stylist on how to approach my hair. While there is nothing wrong with asking for a second opinion, it left me questioning whether she was fully confident in performing the look i had asked for. Had she been upfront from the beginning about not feeling comfortable or experienced enough to achieve the look I wanted, I would have appreciated that honesty and made a different decision before committing to the service. However, because she felt the color "looked good" by her standards, she believed I should have to pay full payment. I expressed my disappointment as I would now need to pay another stylist to correct the color and achieve the look I originally requested but no accommodation was offered other than "I can give you the color formulas I mixed." Overall, this experience was frustrating because I invested significant time and money, communicated my expectations clearly, and still left with hair I didn't like and no meaningful effort to make things right. While she may have been satisfied with the final result, client satisfaction should matter just as much.
