The service was wonderful. We called ahead to inquire about a wait at it was a Friday, he suggested a time, but could not place us on the list (call ahead). We took his advice and walked in and were seated immediately. Immediately, I was given quaint, New England vibes. There's a charming fireplace, low warm lighting, linen tablecloths, gold chandeliers, and no TVs in sight. The staff was knowledgeable, efficient, and prepared (both host and server). The food was incredible. We ordered the tenderloin steak tips medium rare and were so impressed. The soups were both delicious, and the main courses perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, except that I walked in without knowing the vibe to dress appropriately (I wore nice jeans, a sparkly blouse and a faux leather jacket, not terrible, but not the right fit). There were many elderly dressed in a slacks and nice sweater vibe (we visited in October). It definitely gave charming New England, cozy, comfortable, and old money (which is enjoyable if you're prepared).

I just could not help myself without giving my review of last night dinner at Arboreal Inn. It is a special place, which seems to be lacking in the Muskegon area. We ordered the Surf and Turf, which was served to perfection. Loved it. All the servers are very professional and nice. Just a very intimate great place to dine without all that noise you hear at other establishments.

Amazing food, lovely atmosphere and great service, dining area reminds you of the grand hotel decor! We got the lobster bisque, surf and turf, lamb chops, and homemade carrot cake muffins. Everything was delicious. Best carrot cake ever.

Service was superb. The owner was over multiple times chatting and making sure everything was good. Dinner was excellent. There was a great wine list. Overall the experience was excellent!

Omg our first time here. What an awesome little treasure tucked into the northwest corner of Spring Lake, MI. We will be back! The food was amazing! Service was perfect! And dessert and coffee to top it off.

Bland, cheap tasting food. Not "fine dining" at all. Overcharging guests for a fake fine dining experience.

It is an adorable restaurant, very comfortable, and smells like grandma has been cooking all day on a Sunday. Our server was INCREDIBLE, brutally honest when we asked questions or for her opinion. My husband ordered the chicken Alfredo and noted that it was very bland with "crunchy" pieces throughout. I ordered the shrimp scampi, on recommendation of our server, and the dish itself was incredible, but the shrimp were very small and so rubbery and overcooked that they were nearly hard to chew. I told my husband that I would love that dish without the shrimp, as the shrimp detracted from the dish overall. We were a little disappointed they didn't offer any sort of salad or bread service. My house Pinot Grigio was tasty and paired great with our meal. It's literally within walking distance of our home, so we may try it again down the road, but it just wasn't the local home run I was hoping for.

Shrimp scampi might as well have been a stick of butter and noodles with way overcooked shrimp. A…read moretip to know when shrimp is cooked enough is if it's shaped like a 'c' it's cooked. If it's a 'o' then it's overcooked ...well these were chewy if that helps confirming it was overcooked. The lasagna was more cheesy and noodles. Not much meat at all. It came with 2 pieces of bread and they tasted awful. FYI-They charge for bread FYI-they add 3% for credit card For as busy as they were I'm not understanding how people haven't questioned the food. Our server didn't even question that we left 3/4 plate and didn't want to take any home.

Yet we immediately saw another family dining with a stroller, and on our way out there was literally a lineup of strollers near the entrance. There also isn't a changing table, so I had to go back to the car just to change our infant. The food was equally disappointing and extremely overpriced. The calamari portion was tiny, my fish was soggy with the batter falling off and cold fries, and my daughter's sweet-and-sour chicken was mostly batter. My husband ordered a 20-ounce ribeye well done and received what was essentially a medium-rare steak. Our server, Jordan, brought the issue to the manager, Amanda, who only discounted the improperly cooked steak by 50%. When my husband asked to speak with Amanda, we were told she was "too busy" to come to our table. Jordan even commented that there were "a bunch of high schoolers in the kitchen." For the prices they charge, the food, service, and management were incredibly disappointing. Easily one of the worst dining experiences we've had. We will not be back.
