The tables are all squeezed in, truly maximizing the space, but also making it incredibly loud. Chicken Salad Sandwich - 10/10. When I got there it took me 10 minutes to get the attention of the host.The host skipped me several times before I said to that person ,that's 5 people you care while skipping me.I then said go F^%$ yourself and keep the shitty ass food .I have better things to do then be treated like a fucking tourist. read more

Absolutely loved this restaurant. It's off the main drag of Grand Haven so it's not nearly as busy. They have a bar area, indoor dining and outside dining as well. We chose to sit outside which was very relaxing. My husband has the skirt steak and Brussel sprouts and I had the Asian noodle bowl with salmon. We were both blown away. It was one of the best meals we've had in a while and very reasonably priced. Our server, Liam, was very attentive and apologetic as our food took a bit to come out. It was well worth the wait though. Better prices and better food than most in the area. We'll be back soon. read more

Been coming to Grand Haven for 20 plus years not sure how I have been messing up so bad not to have tried this place. Ambiance is a 10 service is a 10+ appears they hire college kids for summer which is awesome and they were super attentive. Food was 10++ amazing steak with Chimichurri sauce at only $17 is crazy. Fine dining place or steakhouse would charge 30+. Definitely will make this a must stop Every time we are in the area. read more

Love this place. The free wine tasting on Wednesday evenings was excellent. Everyone in the shop was so nice. The wine samples were also delicious. We just had a a great meal at JWS. Our server Sophie was wonderful!! We have been here since Wednesday. This is the best meal we have had!! We went to the other upscale restaurants in Grand Haven and they all have cut back on what you get, and the prices went up. We had lake perch today, that was wonderful and came with a delicious crab soup and a side for $25.00. We will be back!!! Also had a delicious dessert that is made there! read more

Grand Haven is a nice city to visit and JW's fit in nicely. Pleasant atmosphere that is relaxed. Has two sections a dining area and bar area connected by 2 hallways. Parking is close by. The staff has always been pleasant and fun on the several we have been there. Food is good and never an issue with bar service. In summer there is some outdoor seating. read more

The atmosphere here is very welcoming and very well lit. Not the largest of restaurants, but not small either. I ordered the Crab Rangoons and the Nachos. To be frank both were disappointing. The Crab Rangoons had too much breading / pouch was too thick. Didn't love the honey soy sauce either. Much better at Asian Restaurants with Sweet and Sour sauce. However on Thursday they are $4.75. So that's good at least. I had heard such good things about JW's Nacho's, maybe my hopes were too high. The cheese was good, the beef was good, the chips were disappointing and became soggy way too quickly. Plus didn't like taste or texture of chip. Nothing was really bad it was all just ehh. The service was excellent, so there's that! Overall I give 3 1/2 stars. I can't round up, so sadly it gets a 3. Would I return? Maybe, to try their burgers! read more

A wonderful local restaurant with delicious food and reasonable prices-especially their lunch specials. Highly recommend the Mulagatawny soup and French Dip slides! Haileigh was a great server & helpful!! Their outside is undergoing a renovation but the inside is still great, they have updated inside which I'm a little sad about because I liked the retro 70s vibe but it is a nice updated feel. So, we posted a review about 12 months ago after a less than stellar visit. We gave it another try Wednesday evening after the owner had reached out to us after our last visit. I will tell you it was great. We had the prime rib, and it was exceptional!!! We also had the chopped salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy on the chilled chopped salad. We also had the BLT, bacon nice and crisp, toasted nicely. Our server, Chase, was knowledgeable and checked on our table at nice intervals. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience!!!! Good and service we top notch!!! We highly recommend JW's. And we are grateful that we decided to give it another try. Just proves that one of night should not cause you to miss out on a fabulous restaurant. I found this hidden gem doing a search and I am glad that I went. JW's has both a restaurant, and bar. I chose to dine in the bar. Drinks were reasonably priced, but the draft beer selection was small. For food, I orderd the Ribeye with demi-glaze that was on special. It was tender and full of flavor. I took a side of wild rice and a house salad. The rice was very good, and the salad was large with iceberg and romaine lettuce. The blue cheese dressing was also good. Overall, this is a good place where locals go, not too far off the beaten path. It was fantastic. read more

JW's is a traditional Bar and grill. We ordered the salad, perch dinner, and White Bean Chili Chicken. The chili was won numerous awards as seen in the attached picture. After having it, I can confirm the chili is very good. The perch was cooked very well with Tarter sauce that very balanced. For a side to be noticeable, it needs to have something unique. For the salad, the homemade ranch dressing made it stand out. Staff was very friendly and went the extra mile with samples of the soups. I will try the mulligatawny soup next time. I would say the ambiance was OK. Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Ambiance - 4 stars a bit dark and chilly with the AC. Overall a 5 Star rating. read more

I went back to JW's and ordered the perch sandwich and coleslaw for lunch. It was excellent and strongly recommend it. I will definitely be back soon! P.S. They actually serve yellow perch and not Zander Pike, like most restaurants. Legally, it can be called perch but it does not compare to yellow, or even white lake perch. read more

BRAVO and THANK YOU! After my positive Covid test came in today, I found myself without any leftovers in the refrigerator and zero energy to cook. I was able to find meals to last three days just by calling and speaking to Erin at JW's, who made sure my chopped salad was not dressed, my burrito had the lettuce on the side, and could accommodate a quart of white chili, rather than two bowls. On top of that, she walked it outside to my car and placed it in through the passenger window. She was expecting my call when someone else answered upon my arrival. And, happily, I have not lost my sense of taste or smell. Delicious and comforting. And so reasonably priced. Maybe this isolation period won't be so bad, after all. J-Dubs is my husband's and my second home! I selfishly hesitate to write the awesome review J-Dubs deserves because I want to be able to get a table! But because the people, the food and the drinks are awesome, their hard work deserves a good word! So here goes.... J-Dubs is comfortable and casual. There is zero pretense! The food is homemade, hearty and tasty served in generous portions. You'll most likely be able to squeeze another meal out of most of their sandwiches and entrees if you take home leftovers. Favorite starters are cauliflower bites and onion rings, which are hands down the best I've ever had! Their French onion soup is also phenomenal and light if you can keep yourself from eating all the yummy cheese melted on the top! Their homemade white chicken chili can be a heavier starter or a meal! It's the bomb! I often buy it from their little wine store next door and serve chips with as a dip for my guests at home. The nachos are large and well stacked with melted cheese, tomatoes, olives, tomatoes, etc. my husband and I love to share them when we feel like splurging a bit! The salsa that come with is homemade, too, I believe, and is really great!! Entree wise, the wet burrito is amazing! I always ask for extra, extra sauce which they make in house. Their French dip and Cuban sandwiches are a fave of mine, while my hubby goes for the chicken wrap. The portions equal two or three meals and they're yummy!! And if you want to go lite, the Caesar salad is great with grilled chicken. My husband loves the Cobb. My only complaint there is that they aren't always consistent with the size. A couple of times I've needed to order a little more lettuce. Cocktail wise, the beers on tap are great and the wine flows! The service is consistently friendly and attentive. You can't go wrong with J-Dubs with your family or a nice casual date night dinner. All I ask -- don't come so often that you don't leave a table for me! read more

I came here tonight by myself as I'm in town traveling on business. In searching out local places I always read the reviews and look at the menus and pictures. Most reviews are positive, some not. Everyone has different experiences for various reasons. One thing I noticed about JW's is that after every comment the owner replied. I never see that. Ever. This tells me she cares. Running a restaurant is hard. We deal with imperfect people in an imperfect world. But we expect perfection. I try to give people the be benefit of the doubt. Perfect isn't possible but caring about your customers and your business is vital. And appreciated. By the way, my chicken chili and Santa Fe salad were great. We chose JW's for dinner last night. It was busy but we were able to get a table right away. The restaurant is split in two sections. The bar side is more casual/rustic and it was louder- people were having a good time. The dining room side is dressed up a bit. Aesthetically it's a strange mix of Irish Pub and hometown Italian restaurant. But we were comfortable. The service was just right- friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We both had perch dinners. The perch is fantastic!! I would get it again without hesitation. Caesar salad was classic- no complaints. Onion rings are huge and tasted great! read more

The wrap special was great, but the Award Winning Chicken Chili left a lot to be desired, questioning who did the awarding, Chicken was minimal, just lottsa' beans and very thick compared to Chicken Chili I've eaten elsewhere, and also make myself.
