There were also way too many locks, so you don't really know what clues go to what; you just gotta try everything. The only thing I truly liked about this place was the complementary photo they took after completing your room; they encouraged you to grab a prop from the room and it just added to the experience. read more

We've done two different rooms here and thoroughly enjoyed each. It is modestly sized but well designed and maintained. I've been to escape rooms where paint and electronic contacts haven't been maintained, often ruining the experience. They appear to do regular upkeep on the rooms, because we just did the Houdini room and everything worked well and looked only as weathered as the props were intended to look. Additionally, this last time was my goddaughter's first escape room and she had a great time. She's a precocious eight year old. She noticed a bunch of things that my wife and I missed and ended up being key to us escaping in time. There were some mildly creepy aspects to the Houdini room (skeletons and being in a dark room at one point) which was perfect for the little girl who enjoys scary movies. Awesome!!! My 4th escape room in 4 different cities and the best so far. First and foremost your experience is your experience. They don't lock you in a room with strangers for an hour! I have found a mixed bag of strangers that have both enhanced and greatly detracted from the fun. When you book a room it is yours. Regardless of the size of your party. AKA: this place is purely about the experience not greed and revenue. Our hostess, Kellen, was great. She gave us all of the right information and intrigue before we started. Everything in the rooms worked. The clues made sense and stuck to the theme 100%. We escaped just in time and really felt victorious since the challenge level was just right. SO. MUCH. FUN! My sister and 10 y.o. nephew had never done an escape room before. We lucked out and got last-minute tickets for Tesla's Secret. We were told it was the most challenging room, and it certainly was! Leigha was our guide and she was so friendly and helpful. She gave us clues when we asked for them and was super encouraging the whole time. We made it out with 22 seconds to spare and got to take our victory picture with props from the room! My nephew is obsessed now and we can't wait to go back! We also got our victory pictures back very quickly, which was nice. read more

We did the Orient Express first and loved it. We then went to dinner and decided to come back to do Tesla. Tesla is challenging and you have to be willing to ask for a few hints when you get stuck. We had an amazing time. I loved talking to the staff. Be at least 15 minutes early. It takes time to find and pay for parking, then walking to the location. read more

As a first time 'escaper' I appreciated the assistance from the director. With 5 of us, (only two with prior experience) with various puzzling skills and good-natured disagreements (our normal dynamic) we managed to solve (though at the last minute). A lot of locks and keys, clever coded writings, surprising mechanics, and really great decor and 'clues' made for a fabulous and fun time. I'd say though that the room felt a little crowed with 5 adults. Our director Shania was great and very accommodating. As retirees, we visited on a week day and had the place to ourselves. We were a group of four and did the Bonnie & Clyde room. You have to ring the doorbell to get in. A staff member lets you in and explains all the details to you. If you have never done an escape room before, they explain it very well. Our gamemaster Bethany was very helpful in her explanations. There are some very basic ground rules but they're very easy to follow. The rooms look very simple but they have so much depth. There are many things that could be clues. We solved it with 17 minutes to spare! Our crew worked well together. We will definitely be returning to do the other ones later on. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a fun group challenge. read more

Made a last minute booking for my brother and cousins to do their Houdini room. They're young - 9,10 and 12 and 2 of them had never done an escape room before. Our game master was amazing! She was very patient with us, went over all the rules, what to expect etc and the kids LOVED it. She handled our experience really well, I'm bummed I didn't get her name. I haven't encountered many places that allow younger kids to participate in escape rooms so finding this place was great. The room itself was small but still very cool. For the most part, the puzzles were linear and not super difficult so the kids were able to do a lot of the work. We were just barely able to escape with literally no time left on the clock. We all had a great time and look forward to coming back ad trying their other 2 rooms. And a HUGE thank you to our game master for helping our first timers have a fun experience. read more

All I can say is wow. John, Jacqueline, and the rest of the team at Architect really went above and beyond to rectify an unsatisfying experience. While most businesses will occasionally leave a somewhat insincere reply, Jacqueline's thoughtful response itself demonstrated how professional they are and how they genuinely do care about their player's experience. Architect invited us back and we got to play the Orient Express. We were searching all over the place and probably did some (...a lot of) nonsensical things, but unlike last time we weren't interrupted and it was great. The Orient Express room was especially riveting since you had to play detective. It was a lot of fun with cool surprises and all of us had a terrific time. John was an excellent game master, giving clues only when asked for and delivered it in ways that weren't too obvious. The speech he gave for the room was also quite entertaining. By the end, we had better teamwork and got out with 6 minutes left. Overall, my friends and I were very impressed with the whole team at Architect and will definitely check it out again once they open their new escape room. Took my son and his 6 friends for this escape room, the staff was very nice from the very first call and all the way to the end. The facility was nice especially the free back area ( Nicely set patio area for b days / parties etc.) where we ate some pizza after we escaped :-) and had the bday cake etc. They were pretty competitive price wise. They don't group you with other people, which I like, but a definite challenge if you're only a group of 2. What a unique experience! This was our first escape room ever. My husband booked the escape room for my birthday. We went with two other couples before dinner and had a blast. The host Bethanie, explained everything well and answered all of our questions. We did the orient express, it was challenging but very doable in one hour. Once inside the room the clues flowed from on to the next, we did struggle at one part and Bethanie saw us get behind on time and offered one tip to help us go in the right direction. The puzzles were challenging and it definitely helped to have multiple people to use all our combined brain power. Overall we ran a bit long at one hour and 9 minutes but Bethanie let us finish and that was awesome. Overall we had a very positive experience and would come back to do the other rooms. read more

I wanted to personally command Brittain for her hospitality and attitude when we came in. We were a group of over eight people initially but she still accommodated us to the best of her abilities. She was very helpful and answered all of our questions, not to mention had a good sense of humor. My group and I were laughing the entire time when she was explaining the rules to us. What a great place. We took the kids (ages 17, 13, 12, and 9) out last Friday night. It was my son's idea the 9 year old. Didn't think that we would all be so immersed in the ESCAPE. We did the Orient Express room. Our host was Josh. He was Super! We will be back to do the other 2 rooms. I highly recommend having this experience. An Amazing evening. What is better than playing a totally-immersive historical escape room? Successfully escaping a totally-immersive escape room that respects the era in which the story is set, of course! Located in Reseda, "The Orient Express" by Architect Escape Rooms is a super-ingenious room that transports players straight to a page out of Agatha Christie's novel and the board game Clue. Our first experience with Architect started with parking. This time, we decided to actually pay for parking because it was hot and we were too lazy to walk. If you don't want to pay the buck for parking, you could park off-street in front of the homes behind the businesses and walk a little. Parking cops mean business around here, so ... Architect Escape Rooms has one of the cutest facades of all the escape rooms we've been to: you can recognise it as an escape room from the golden key sticking out from the signage. The drama begins upon being let into the dimly-lit corridor to the lobby. We were anxious to start our game, which was the first of the day, so we did not spend time enjoying the hospitalities and checking out the merchandise. I was quite impressed with the picture in the restroom, though! Entering the room was exactly like stepping into the actual train compartment circa 1920s. Music of the day was piped in throughout the game, but other than that, most of game would be considered low-tech, compared to other games we've played. This actually lent a lot of authenticity to our hour there, because we found ourselves literally scrambling for clues! There are two parts to this puzzle: to figure out the murderer of the artist Johann von Schmidt and to stop the train from derailing, i.e. escape - and perfect for the two of us, because, with the possibility of derailment heeling closer with every tick of the clock, I completely forgot about the murderer ... but my husband figured that part out! There were a lot of locks in the game, but if you keep in mind the ... keys ... to winning the game as listed on their website, Exploration, Team Work, Creative Visualization, Logical Inference and Realism, this is a linear, logical game that had us, at the end of it, feeling very satisfied, with our intelligence much validated! You never felt cheated by the red herrings because there was always a clue in there with the red herrings. Bethany, our game mistress, was terrific: she waived the 3-clues-only rule for us, which we really appreciated, because we needed five clues to get out with 50 seconds left, and that was two more clues that we were, haha, supposed to have. If you are new to the escape room world, this is actually the room I would recommend, especially if you are already familiar with the aspects of the game: the Orient Express, Agatha Christie, detective stories ... I was totally transported back to my Eurailing days. Someone else here said this was a room that had you thinking about it for days after the game, and I have to agree. I remember all the rooms we've ever done, but this one - maybe it was the music! - had, not just props and pizzazz, but also puzzles cognate to the era. The green screen victory photo was an original touch that an ussie hound like myself really appreciates, even if it took a week to get to us! Kudos to Architect for their effort! read more
