They let me come in same day to fix a broken crown. Built the new one onsite and walked out same day with no pain. I'm one of those that hates going to the dentist, but I will definitely be back for my check ups from here on out. His staff is also great. Everyone there is very nice and caring. Almost forgot to mention that at 7pm that evening Dr. Lanning gave me a call to personally ask how my comfort level was. Awesome.

The first time I went I needed a night guard from grinding. My hygienist identified the problem before I did. She massaged my jaw and head, and asked me how I was sleeping at night. When I told her not well, she said she wasn't surprised because i was grinding my teeth. I left their office feeling about 10 pounds lighter from the short massage, and the cleaning was gentle and pleasant as usual. I honestly enjoy going to the dentist. I look forward to my time to sit back and relax in the chair for a while.

After my appointment on 02/24/26, I was debating if I should post a review but since I received a…read moretext from Harpole to please do so, here I go... My family and I have been coming to Harpole since we moved to the area in 2023. At the time, I noticed they looked like they were a new practice with a clean and modern look. The gentleman who had worked at the front desk (Keith) was always very friendly & engaging and we always chatted for a few minutes while I waited my turn to go back for my cleaning. Since my initial visit, I have gone back every 6 months. My latest visit on 02/24/26 was the first day I didn't encounter Keith at my check-in, and I don't see him listed on their website so I assume he may no longer be working there. I think I have had a different hygienist at each visit and have been seen by no less than 3 dentists across my handful of visits, so I have never had a chance to build a longstanding relationship with any of them (as I had been accustomed to with my previous dental office in another state). As with any medical office/team, the longer you're with them, the better they know you and your history and can see trends and give you better advice/tips based on that. Unfortunately, my last visit left me wondering if it's time to look for a new dental office. This is due to multiple things that left me scratching my head (to put it mildly). The first was how little time the dentist spent with me today for my cleaning. Apart from the initial polishing by the hygienist (who was decent), the dentist didn't do prolonged cleaning and focused almost exclusively on my front teeth. I am accustomed to much more time and focus dedicated to all my teeth so to say I felt like he was in a rush would be an understatement. He also looked at my chart and said I hadn't come in since last February (2025), which I knew was not the case. I pulled out my phone to verify on my calendar when my last appointment was, and wouldn't you know it was just 6 months prior just as it should have been? Then he said, "oh yeah - I see it here now". Odd... But this wasn't the first time the team either didn't take a good look at my chart or didn't have proper notes to review from the last visit or prior visits. That never happened to me once at my previous dentist's and it's happened twice now in just a handful of visits to Harpole over the past 2+ years. Lastly, the dentist burned the inside of my lower lip with his cleaning tool (whatever it's called). Although he casually apologized, admitted there was a burn, and asked the assistant to apply a gob of Vaseline on it and to increase the flow of water into my mouth for the rest of the cleaning, it still stung and was very swollen 2+ hours later...to the point where eating was not easy/comfortable. It took 3 days before the burn & swelling subsided enough for me to be comfortable. As the appointment concluded, the dentist gave me the usual tips on flossing and how to brush and shook my hand at the end so kudos to him for being a nice fella all in all. I was really hoping to stick with Harpole for the foreseeable future because I don't like to change my medical/dental practitioners (unless I am forced to because of a change in my insurance or because of moving to a new area) but I think it's time for me to make that change now. It's too bad because Harpole is conveniently located for me, but I think too many things that could have gone better during my recent visit is the final straw for my family and me.
