My absolute favorite restaurant for Korean noodle soup. No frills, you order at the counter and wait for the food and pick it up yourself. The thick noodles are my favorite. It comes in metal bowls so be careful when drinking, but it helps the soup and broth stay hot. The sides are good too, they offer kimchi and radish. The soup itself usually has some shredded vegetables and potatoes in it. The kimchi may be a bit spicy if you're not used to it! This is my favorite place to come for kal-guksu! Ambiance: This is a very small, cozy restaurant with just a few tables and chairs. You order at the counter, and all the food items are displayed with pictures. They also sell kimchi in both small and large containers to take home. The food does come with kimchi and yellow pickled radish. Service is fine but nothing noteworthy. Chicken Kalguksu: This dish is incredibly comforting. The broth has just the right amount of salt and flavor. The broth is not overpowering or any weird flavoring. The chicken is shredded breast meat. I couldn't find this place, and i called and asked where it was located... Anyways, we ended up getting a #4 combo which is a hot noodle dumpling soup and a cold noodle bowl. It was a fairly hot day, and we were craving cold noodles, but we didn't want to get two cold noodles, so that's why we got a hot soup base instead... Glad we did, since the hot soup was actually very good. As for the cold noodles, i like how simple and clean tasting it was. The noodles were very soft and chewy which made it taste super good. I will say that they do give pretty large portion sizes so it would be good to split with someone if you do not eat that much. I've only been here twice in the summer to eat naengmyeon but it's been stellar both times! Their naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon are both delicious, with a large amount of noodles for a good price. It comes with mustard and vinegar on the side so you can adjust the taste to your liking. Side dishes of homemade kimchi and danmuji were included. For the spicy noodles, the cold broth comes in a separate bowl. Only thing is I wish there were some sort of protein other than the boiled egg. We also ordered their pork dumplings (5) recently and they were great too. Made fresh and had a good amount of filling with a thin wrapper which I enjoyed. Found this gem in Carrollton for authentic Korean noodle soup! The menu is straight forward, they offer a few selection but everything was so good. We ordered the dough soup, hand pulled noodle soup, miso sauce noodles and dumplings. The dough soup really stood out! It was chewy and the broth was so flavorful. The miso sauce was fantastic, slightly spicy but delicious. I loved the dumplings too, super stuffed with fillings. Beware the portions are really big, especially with all the soup. I think in terms of flavor, this place was very good. But there are quite a few drawbacks that kept this from being a stellar experience. We came here as a group of four on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered the vegetable handmade dumplings, the pork large dumplings (wang mandu), the spicy eggplant sauce noodles, the mandu kalguksu, the haemul soogaebi (hand pulled dough soup), and the ganchiguksu (thin noodles in anchovy broth). Pros: - Good flavor of soups - Really good flavor in their handmade vegetable dumplings - Big portions Cons: - Really heavy on the portion of noodles - Very little dumpling filling (especially the pork "wang mandu" big dumplings). They were huge, but it was all mostly the exterior carb portion of the dumpling - Rather pricey in that aspect since it was so much of just the carb portion of the entrees. For example, in the haemul soogaebi (dough soup), it cost $17, came in a HUGE bowl with a TON of dough pieces, but literally only had 3 shrimps, 4 mussels, and 4 clams in the ENTIRE bowl. The rest was ALL dough. Or even the anchovy soup, which was my own, had SO much noodles (which were good) and so little of the egg and zucchini topping. - We also waited a pretty lengthy amount of time for our meal. About 30 minutes for the first entree (which was one of the dumplings), which isn't the worst in the world, but also not short. It took even longer for everything else to come out. Other notes: - The kimchi is very good but spicier than usual kimchi! - The eggplant sauce is good but spicy too! It comes separately though, so you can control the level of spice and flavor to a certain extent. Overall, if you're looking for some warm, flavorful soup on a cold day - this is a good place to go! Especially if you're in the Hmart area. But there are definitely some areas they could improve on significantly in order to become a stellar, "must go" place. read more

It's a self-serve restaurant. You place the order at the counter and receive a little pager for when your food is ready, so you can come back to bring it to your table. I didn't pay attention to the menu board at first, and was surprised to see the total was around $12 for everything!! Good thing I didn't go crazy with my usual eyes-bigger-than-stomach ordering, cuz I could barely finish the soup. The portion was humongous and more than enough for 2 people. There's also self-serve rice next to the fridge. You wouldn't need it at all unless you're sharing the soup with someone else. Last but not least, make sure you bring your tray back to the cart by the counter after you're done. They make the noodle in-house, and I love how perfectly soft and chewy the noodle is. The soup is light and hearty, but not fatty at all. It was so good that I really wanted to finish the whole thing, but my pants and my stomach were definitely raising the white flag. I loved the soup so much I ordered the same soup to go so the hubby could try it out. The menu is pretty straightforward and their main thing kalguksu (Korean wheat flour noodles--similar to udon). They also specialize in dumplings! We ordered the kimchi kalguksu, chicken kalguksu and the sesame kalguksu with water dumplings and the big buns. The portions are very generous and seasoned very well!
