With just one visit, Manolito is my new favorite place in the French Quarter. New to me, that is,…read moreas they've clearly been charming locals and visitors alike for years, now. You know how it goes... you live somewhere and keep meaning to try a place and suddenly it's like 8 years later and here we are. Exquisite everything... atmosphere, service, cocktails and food. Aperitivo-style dinners (aka girl dinners?) are my favorite. I love a good grazing. We had the seasoned chickpeas which are fried and crunchy but not dry like baked or dried chickpeas. These are the irresistible kind, the melt-in-your-mouth with salty umami goodness kind. The saltines that come with the black bean hummus are seasoned in the same way, fried, I suspect, but I'm not mad about that. I really couldn't stop eating these and don't get me started on the perfect fries. Drinks, ah the drinks. As much as I wanted one of those frozens, with dropping temps outside, I went for a gorgeous Flor de Jamaica. Think citrus-forward, not heavily boozy (vodka). I followed up with the Mary Pickford, which has pineapple juice and normally I would fear for an overly sweet drink but this is not that. It's more on the tangy/sour side of the spectrum. Both drinks are perfectly light and refreshing. It all felt like the indulgence I needed after a frigid week. After dining upstairs, which makes you feel like you're in a chic loft space, we peeked into the courtyard. I cannot wait to return and pretend that I'm in Havana, sipping on an expertly-crafted frozen drink. It really doesn't get any better than this.

We shared and enjoyed everything it's a large portion and I had a whole serving leftover to take home. The food is very rich and flavorful. The Kabrit wasn't as tender as I would've liked, but maybe it's prepared a little differently than I am used to. The cocktails are very good and strong, you really only need one. I loveeee Green Plantains and these did not disappoint, especially with the Pikliz dipping sauce. I love the music played here, it's a very nice blend of Afrobeats, Konpa, and other genres. Customer service is amazing. They take very good care of you, are attentive, warm and welcoming. The Chef comes out himself and makes sure everyone is well taken care of.

The sweet plaintains with coco cream was life changing! No cap! It was so light and creamy and sweet and fresh and incredibly delicious! The grilled shrimp app was also delicious. It was enough to share. It was good and spicy. The plantains with the shrimp were bland but helped to ease the spiciness. The entrees were just as good. And so were the cocktails. I see why this is a local's fave and now it's one of my faves too! Our server was friendly, prompt and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant was cute and bright on the inside. It was a little spendy. But everything in nawlins is a bit spendy. GF and vegetarian options. They do accept reservations.

Honduran food in New Orleans? Definitely!…read more After Match Day, we went to celebrate at Tia Maria's Kitchen. Love, love, love this cozy mama and papa restaurant. It was busy at lunchtime, but it gave us time to reflect on the hard work that led to two of my daughters matching in great residency programs. Two years ago, we also celebrated another amazing match day with a friend who flew in from San Francisco to help our family celebrate. I had the San Pedro Maduro. A deep fried plantain filled with veggies, black beans, avocados, crema and queso. I had mine with chicken. One of my daughters did hers with more veggies. Absolutely delicious! My family ordered a wide variety of papusas and tacos. Definitely add an agua Fresca. Loved the horchata, but the favorite was the moracuya. Blackberry and passion fruit. So refreshing and delicious. Muchas gracias for welcoming our family and friends into your cocina familiar. We loved enjoying your family's kitchen on a special day celebrating another chapter of our family's journey. #2800

I've been wanting to hold back on this review because I swear every time I go, there's so many people ordering takeout or dining it! It very much is getting the attention it deserves. I will say, pricier than your other honduran joints but this one is worth it. You can taste the love and fresh ingredients they pour into this place. If you can, go with a group of people so you can try a bunch of dishes. You seriously cant go wrong with anything on the menu but my favs are: Mega Baleada with carne asada and their pupusas! I've had the pastelitos, enchildas hondurenas, combo miramar, combo lempira. Note: Anything that mentions Hondurenas (tacos and enchiladas) they're different than your typical Mexican style!**

The sangria and specialty cocktails are also great and pair perfectly with the relaxed vibe. I especially love sitting outside along Esplanade Avenue--such a beautiful spot to unwind and enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere - especially when the Nola weather cooperates. The staff is always friendly and personable, which makes the experience even better. It's one of those local spots where you can just chill, enjoy great food and drinks, and soak up the Esplanade vibes. No wonder we. the locals love it!

Back in the day, Santa Fe was on Frenchman in the Marigny, and it was the top player in the city as far as Mexican food went. Then it closed (boo-hoooo ). Santa Fe eventually reopened in its current location on Esplanade, which makes this a much more accessible place for a Lakeview girl! AND It's divine!!! There is no wrong selection here! Everything on the menu is delicious. I love the Tableside Guacamole and their Ceviche is the best ever!!! The seafood dishes are mouth watering, and so are their more traditional appetizers and entrees. OMG... the tamales!!! I do recommend that you tread carefully through their drink menu. The bartenders are some of the best in the city, and those drinks will sneak in and strait mess you up without warning... not in a polite, delicate way, more like in a wake-up-the-next-morning-in-your neighbor's-Christmas-manger-scene kind of way (I did not do that, but that's where I found my friend at 6AM. She was clinging to a wise man and holding Baby J like a Heisman trophy football!). I digress. We went back the next day for the best Sunday Brunch in the city and a little hair of the dog. You just cannot go wrong here! I LOVE LOVE LOVE SANTA FE!
