2025 United States Filipino Basketball Associations tournament 8/2 & 8/3.
    Rolly U.

Reflecting on an Unforgettable Weekend (August 2 & 3,2025): Hosting One of the Largest Filipino Basketball Tournaments in Arizona. I had the incredible honor and responsibility of hosting one of the biggest Filipino basketball tournaments ever held in our area--and I'm still processing just how special it was. From the moment planning began, I knew this event was going to be something truly unique. We weren't just organizing a tournament--we were creating a space for community, culture, and competition to thrive. The goal was simple but powerful: bring together players, families, and fans from all over to celebrate our shared love for the game and our Filipino roots. A massive thank you to Cason, whose partnership was nothing short of phenomenal throughout every phase of this project. From the early stages of planning to the very last game buzzer, Cason was there every step of the way. His commitment to excellence, calm under pressure, and ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently made all the difference. On event day, communication was seamless, logistics were smooth, and the vibe was positive and professional--thanks to his dedication and support. Truly couldn't have pulled this off without you, Cason! Let's talk about the facility--because WOW. With 16 full-size basketball courts under one roof, this venue was absolutely built for an event of this magnitude. From the moment people walked in, you could see the amazement on their faces. The layout, the lighting, the organization, the space--it all helped elevate the tournament to a whole new level. Coaches, parents, players, and fans all shared the same sentiment: "This place is unbelievable." Over the course of the event, we hosted 96 teams, representing different cities in the USA and Canada. The energy in the building was electric. Every court was buzzing with intensity, skill, and passion. But beyond the competition, what stood out most was the sense of community. Old friends reconnecting. Families cheering side by side. Coaches mentoring. Kids dreaming big. Basketball has always been more than just a sport in the Filipino community--it's a shared language, a cultural cornerstone, and a point of pride. To see so many people come together around this game, united by heritage and heart, was deeply moving. This tournament wasn't just about wins and losses--it was about representation, connection, and celebration. I'm beyond proud of what we accomplished, and even more excited for what lies ahead. If this event proved anything, it's that our community is strong, passionate, and capable of creating something truly special when we come together.

They claim they don't look up your personal information, then how did I get this letter in the mail?
    Daniel D.

Edit: their response below claimed they don't look up personal information from the State of AZ. Well then how did they get my personal information to send a demand letter? I have attached the letter for proof. ---- This place runs a fraudulent parking operation. As a result of several families having various issues related to the staff and/or parking issues in the past month, our teams refuse to play at these fields in the future. They have nice soccer fields but everything else is poorly run. Parking has been an issue since it opened, sometimes taking 30+ minutes to exit due to the poor traffic design and refusal to hire staff to assist with traffic flow. We all know how bad parking here can be and already try to avoid this place. But this week I received a parking collection notice for the 1 time I drove my truck to drop off my kids for a game. I did not park! Somehow, they were able to illegally obtain my name and address from the AZMVD. This also happened to another parent on the team. We will now be taking a close look at ARS 28-455 laws and inquiring about how this private business was able to access personally identifiable information from the State of AZ for a minor parking ticket, on private property, with no court order. My guess is they use a license plate scanner to cross reference those who have paid or not and scan everyone in the drop off line. This is unethical and fraudulent in my opinion.

These are the grip VB courts love them

Arizona Athletic Ground Insider Scoop: Making the Most of Your Visit The reviews were mixed, leaning more on the unfavorable side, so when I heard that our volleyball tournament would be hosted here for three days, my expectations were low. But then I thought, What would I want to know ahead of time to turn a potentially frustrating experience into a smooth and enjoyable one? Four tournaments were in full swing during our visit: court volleyball, beach volleyball, soccer, and baseball. After navigating this sprawling facility as a 3-day volleyball mom, here's your Top 14 Insider Scoop to make your time at the Arizona Athletic Ground (AAG) a win: 1. PARKING PRO-TIPS I arrived at 7 AM each day to a parking frenzy. My solution? Park near the soccer courts and walk through the grassy area to the volleyball courts. Early birds will thank me for this hack, but by 9 AM, dirt parking opens up if you're a little late. 2. FOOD TRUCK STRATEGY Day one, I made the rookie mistake of waiting an hour for coffee in the AAG food court line. Day two, I hit the coffee truck by the soccer field--quick and efficient. Pro tip: Despite the "no outside coffee" sign, no one stopped me from bringing my own cup into the volleyball courts. 3. REJUVENATION ZONES This facility has plenty of space to recharge between games. Here's how I spent my downtime: *Ran the bleachers (cardio, check!) *Strolled around the scenic soccer fields (about 2 miles of walking bliss) *Relaxed in the grassy area with a snack *Soaked up some sun *Reserved a pickleball court (some parents even brought their own gear). 4. CHAIR HACK No outside chairs are allowed, but my trusty lightweight foldable stool fit the bill. While I had no issues, I can't guarantee everyone will have the same luck--so keep it discreet. 5. BEWARE OF FLYING VOLLEYBALLS There are no barriers between courts, so there's a 75% chance you'll get hit by a rogue volleyball. It wouldn't hurt for the facility to invest in safety screens for spectators. 6. BLEACHER SURVIVAL GEAR Aluminum bleachers are rough on your back and backside. Bring a cushion or bleacher chair if you value your comfort. 7. DRESS IN LAYERS It's chilly inside and out--think coats, scarves, and even gloves (yes, I brought my mink gloves). Don't underestimate Arizona's fluctuating temperatures. 8. PREPAY ONLINE Save yourself the hassle and prepay for your tickets. Trust me, it's not worth scrambling at the entrance. 9. WRISTBAND WISDOM If you're attending multiple days, keep your wristband in a safe spot. It's non-replaceable, but it does allow in-and-out privileges for both parking and the facility. 10. SECRET CHILL SPOT The couches near the entrance hallway were a hidden gem. Quiet, uncrowded, and perfect for resting, whether you're solo, with a group, or accompanying elderly family members. 11. WI-FI VS. CELL SIGNAL The free Wi-Fi worked like a charm, but my AT&T signal was useless. Plan accordingly if you need to stay connected. 12. HIDDEN BATHROOMS AND SEATING The main AAG hall has bathrooms and ample seating, which many people seemed to overlook. Don't hesitate to take advantage of these lesser-used areas. 13. SOCCER PARENT TIPS If you're here for soccer, note that bathroom access varies depending on the field's location. It's manageable unless you have mobility challenges. Bring a wide-brimmed hat or an umbrella for shade. My foldable backpacking chair was also a lifesaver on the field. 14. FOOD OPTIONS GALORE With so many food trucks and vendors, I skipped the indoor concessions entirely. There's even a full restaurant serving beer, and water bottle refills are allowed. My favorite? The fresh-cut fries topped with barbecue brisket from one of the food trucks--absolutely delicious. 15. WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY SCORE Getting around the facilityin and out of doors & bathrooms =100% Watching any volleyball game 0%. I would not have a wheelchair or a walker or motorized scooter anywhere on the court VB. It's dangerous and someone will get hurt. The stadium has limited seating for wheelchairs or motorized scooters. A FEW EXTRAS Cashless Transactions: Bring your card, but gratuities can still be given in cash. Bathrooms: Accessible and plentiful, except for some soccer fields that require a bit of a walk. FINAL THOUGHTS I came in expecting chaos and left thoroughly impressed. The Arizona Athletic Ground is a beautiful, well-designed facility that manages to blend into Arizona's natural landscape seamlessly. From the volume of courts to the thoughtful open spaces, it's clear this venue was built with care. While I wish the bleachers were made of concrete (your back and behind would agree), the AAG earns high marks for its versatility, natural beauty, and abundance of amenities. With these tips in your back pocket, your visit to the Arizona Athletic Ground is sure to be a success.

Very nice, they charge for parking and entrance lookout ! I would say it's good but not my favorite to pay to watch my child I already paid for to play here I get to pay to support her after I supported ASC fees for tournaments and then extras...

View of the volleyball building (the one you can barely see on the right in the back) from my parking spot.
    Diane V.

I went to this venue today to watch my grandson play volleyball. I arrived around 8:40 am thinking I was there early enough to park and get to the court by 9am. as I had purchased my ticket and parking pass online. No such luck! I was in a line to enter the overflow parking lot using the one open entrance for 1 hour! Then it took me 1/2 hour to walk from my parking spot to the volleyball building. I included a photo of the volleyball building from my parking spot so you can see just how far away I had to park. It was easily 1/2 mile or more. The volleyball building is the one you can barely see on the right in the background. I missed his first two games. This place ridiculously overbooked these facilities, making it impossible to enjoy the experience. There were basketball, volleyball, marshall arts and softball tournaments going on, and probably some more sports that I didn't see. Once I finally got inside, there was nowhere to sit, and the lines for food and drinks were insanely long. My grandson, daughter and I stood in line to buy pretzels and then found an empty corner where we sat on the floor to eat them. Really?! These kids are athletes - they shouldn't have to sit on the floor to eat between games. I don't know what the capacity of this building is supposed to be but I'm confident that it was exceeded by quite a bit! Maybe the Fire Marshall should make an unannounced visit. The owners of this venue clearly prioritized making money over providing a high quality experience for their guests.

While there's a lot of pickleball courts, I've seen them full with a queue to play. I haven't seen this with the tennis courts or other sport courts. There's a playground with a play structure, swings, slides, a zip-line and more. It's on a hill so there's multiple levels to play on. There's a large splash pad for older children and a separate area for younger children, so less likely your toddler gets run over by a pre-teen not paying attention. The one drawback is there's not a lot of shady places to hide from the blistering summer sun. There's a large grass field but it's sloped and thus not useful for playing flag football or soccer. I believe it's built that way to watch performances at the pavilion. If there are flat grass fields at this park, I have yet to find them; they would be a welcome addition. At the end of the park there's a lake with a walking path around it. The largest ramada is on the lakefront and looks to 100-150 people. They have smaller ramadas around to rent as well. Overall, Gilbert Regional Park is a nice clean new park with many amenities. Everything is still in good working condition and there's a lot of open space where everyone isn't concentrated into a small area.
