This is a terrible place to bring your pet. They do not care about them. They only care about taking your money. It did not use to be this way. I have been going here for 11 years and called them in an emergency situation about my dog and they couldn't fit me in. They acted like they couldn't care less. That was the final straw for me. They don't send prescription refills into the pharmacy for you anymore and they require you to get your dog a kennel cough vaccine before even making a reservation to board your dog now. This place died when Doctor Bowen left and now is owned by a greedy corporation. Stay away! I have since found another place and will never be going back. read more

I chose the Ark for my post adoption Vet visit in search of a vet home for my new rescue dog. Don't think I have to look further. @liltacothedog is having understandable apprehension but the vet, Dr. Ware and the nurse Lanette are so awesome it is doable for the little guy. They were beyond patient with us both. Smells great inside and a nice grassy area for walking outside with a shade tree. The shelter offers a coupon for a free initial visit and being a customer service guru, I have seen how some businesses treat special price offer customers. Not a molecule of a difference here from having a free visit or paying a thousand dollars. Super thorough visit. They care about the fur babies and their humans. I can't express enough how amazing the staff was and their professionalism at the time I had to say goodbye to my 12 year old Great Dane who is my best friend, my ride or die and my soul dog! They were so compassionate and caring and they got up right back in a room as soon as we arrived (I was a absolute emotional wreck) they got up back in a room right away, the vet came in and was very caring and kind, the assistants were so caring and one actually laid on the floor with me and my baby when the time came to let her go. Afterwards they let me take as much time as I needed to say bye to her and love on her after she passed away! Once I was ready they told me I could take the back door out so I didn't have to go through the main lobby in front of everyone! Once my sweet girl was back from being cremated they called me as soon as she came through their doors and let me pick her up, they even kept her favorite blanket she passed away on and washed it and it was picked up. Just recently I received a card in the mail that each employee there signed personally! I was told that I would have had to physically mail in the Rx to Chewy in order to get it filled. Seemed like a lengthy process considering it's 2024 and technology has advanced. I am sorry to say that we have been taking our fury loved ones here for years and all of a sudden the quality of service has severely diminished. Each time I've boarded my 4 legged buddy they would always have an excuse as to why he was not at least bathed. There is never anyone there to provide grooming services when requested. When I dropped him off he did not have fleas, but when I picked him up he now has fleas. I will never take him back there ever again. The bath is suppose to come with boarding (so they say) but they have not done it and this happened at least twice, but they charged me full price. I completely understand these are challenging times because of staffing, but what I can't wrap my head around is why would you ensure these services during the reservation, knowing the services will not be rendered? No excuse for that. They just lost my business. It's sad because this was a great place for us for years, well, not anymore. As of May 16, 2022 and just before we picked up our dog, The Ark called to tell me our dog was not allowed to come back because of his behavior, which he's never acted out like that before and has been boarded there for years. The Ark also wanted to replace the collar that they allowed our dog to destroy. This tells me our dog was not allowed to move around much as this shows a dog desperately trying to get free of something. This, combined with him smelling like urine each time we pick him up tells us he was not being treated right. So, to "The Ark" this is a despicable display of treatment of animals and terrible customer service. If you don't like big dogs then don't board big dogs, period!! But, to treat a dog this way simply because you don't like big dogs is cruel and I hope one day soon this place will be exposed of its treatment to animals, which I'm sickened to say, cruel! Any dog that is restricted from moving around will get desperate and fight for their life. Your suppose to be the professional in this field, not me and I even know that. Also, you offered to replace his collar that you or your staff admitted forgetting to take off, as evidence in the photo below? I would just like to first start by saying, if you're going to bring a big dog here.. just don't. The one positive thing I have to say is the front office staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were informed at the end of our appointment that the practicing vet who is the owner of the practice was not there. They loved our big baby. He is a Presa Canrio, family of a Mastiff. Big dog, we get it. However, other vets have handled him great. He has never had any problems with behavior and still didn't today. We moved a few months ago and we were looking for a new vet home. The Ark vet ( not the owner ) who we heard great things about.. did not Handel our dog with care nor compassion. He barged in the room without even greeting us or our dog which our dog did not like because he did not know who was entering so he was skittish. He put a mussel on him when he never growled or snarled at him or the tech. They seemed very inexperienced and very scared. We will not be coming back. read more

What can I say that gives them justice! This place is amazing!!! The staff is above friendly, caring and Dr. Tillis is amazing. We were clients of another vet in Hiram and they were slowly killing my dog with the wrong allergy medicine. Since switching my dog is healthy, has his hair back, and doesn't scratch. I have recommended several people to them because of their care and love for the animals. Dr. Tillis even found a cancerous tumor on him and operated to remove. She went above and beyond to have it diagnosed and consulted with vet oncologist at UGA to get a proper care plan. I would recommend them 100%! read more

I have two SHIH TZU & the groomer at this place did a Horrible , Horrible and I mean HORRIBLE job..I spoke with the groomer and explained how I was very unhappy with another place I initially took them to and that it would be my first time using this location. I explained that I made sure that both had their distemper shot before this appointment since that it was they requested and that I was looking forward to trying them out here, since I used the veterinarians here too. I went as far as to show her a picture of a YouTube Shih tzu that i liked. She told me that she had 10 year experience so with that I thought I would be in good hands. But let me say that my dogs were butchered and the beginner that they let do the grooming will never touch my dogs again. So let me say that if you have Shih Tzu DON'T take them there. I had an emergency, so I called the "hospital" that was closest, on a Monday morning around 9am, and was told there was no doctor at the office that day. What the other place did was wrap a bandage around her midsection. Not necessarily needing a doctor. I gave 2 stars because the lady on the phone apologized sincerely, and showed concern for my doggy. Live so close, was hoping it would be our go-to pet emergency stop, now with elderly pups. Nope. 8-2020 - the support staff has really declined over the years. The scheduling is bad as you will wait at minimum 45 minutes to be seen. They have COVID policy on front door that states only 2 clients at a time yet they packed the lobby with 4 to 6 clients at a time. Having said that Dr. Bowen is awesome, but the turnover in staff has hurt the service and experience when you go. read more

"Dr"Bowman was told my dog had severely damaged knees.I was there for a consult. I gave a long detailed explanation. For some reason the x rays were not in his file so he didn't have complete information and much was unknown. I had asked about any stretching.This cruel man grabbed my poor dogs left knee and pulled it fully out. Reggie started screaming. DId it again before I could react.Didn't know what he was doing but he went ahead and pulled on his leg several times. Reggies knees need surgery and rehab. His movements have been restricted, I have been very, very careful NOT to stretch out his legs, NOT to move the knees outwards as this causes further damage. Ligaments, tendons are torn and ripped, the knee cap floats and movement causes high pain.Reggie was in pain the rest of the day and evening, barely able to sleep that night even with a pain med. He had been examined by 4 other vets and surgeons and no one had caused him to cry. Would you trust this man with your helpless trusting pet? read more

Do not bring your animals to this vet. They care more about money than the actually do the animal. My dog was diagnosed with separation anxiety and prescribed fluoxetine and told to take 2 pills a day. Everything was fine as long as I bought the medication from them directly. Once I found out that an actual pharmacy would sell me the medication for literally half of what the ark was charging me is when the problems started. At first they would call my prescriptions in and things were going smooth but out of no where they decided that they would no longer call in the prescription and I'd have to come get a paper copy myself. I show up to get the paper script and they tell me unless Im buying the Medication from them they want a full blood test for $165. When I say no (bc my dogs been on this medication for almost 2 years without having to do a blood test) the office tech Sarah begins to get an attitude. I tell them I just need the paper script bc again it's being sold at the pharmacy across the street for literally half of what the ark is trying to charge for it. So I go to the checkout and Sarah begins to check me out as I'm waiting for the paper to take to the pharmacy Sarah goes to hand me a bottle of 60 of the fluoxetine and tries to charge me for it. I simply said again, I don't need the medication, I need the paper prescription in which she rudely replies "well you need to be more clear on what you want" as if I hadn't already told them 10x I just need the paper. Sarah then shows up with a paper prescription but it's for only half of what she just tried to sell me. I point out that it's the wrong quantity and the attitude gets worse. She snatches the paper out of my hands and takes it back to doctor and then returns with the same paper with a response of "that's all you're going to get". Of course I'm frustrated at this point and I reply "so because I'm not buying it from y'all I only get a half of a months prescription?" Then I'm told if I want more medication I need to bring my dog in for a blood test or find a new vet. She is by far the most unprofessional office assistant I've ever had to deal with. When I asked for a corporate number to make a complaint on her behavior I'm told "we don't give that information out" and a doctor will reach out to me to discuss the matter. No doctor ever reached out. Instead a week later I get a letter in the mail saying they are sorry I'm unhappy with their services and that they can no longer see my pet. Now I have a dog that is going through with drawls from Prozac bc they were to negligent to wean him off the medication all over me not buying it directly from them. They brag that they are owned by a big corporation now and it definitely shows. This place is a joke. I left a google review and they responded calling me the wrong name. If you're looking for a new vet go to East Paulding or New Hope. Do not waste your time at this place. read more

Stopped in today hoping that they might have time to shave the Giz-Meister's paw pads and sani-areas . . . alas they didn't have time to take him as a walk-in for grooming / touch up - but the staff was very friendly and offered to make an appointment. I do not recommend taking your animals here ever. My dog has been pretty sick with a nasty cough and I finally got an appointment the next day to go see the vet for 9 AM. I show up 10 minutes early no big deal I don't mind waiting longer then my scheduled time but they did not call me back into the room until 9:40 and by 10 o'clock I finally got up and left with my sick dog who's non stop coughing. The vet tech said there's a few people ahead of me at 10 sovi'm guessing if I would've stayed I would've been awhile before I seen a vet. now I have to go find someone else to take care of my dog because they did not have time, nor did they care. read more

Scheduled a spaying and went for the ore check up that is standard before a spaying. I needed up waiting 2 hours pst my appointment time before I was seen, but went ahead and sat through since I already scheduled the surgery. Come surgery day, I show up at the drop off time and was then told I wasn't on the schedule for the spaying. Apparently the front office person forgot to add it on the computer. As a reminder it is very stressful to get a cat in the carrier and put them a car ride for no reason at all. I callback to reschedule and I explained the situation and the guy over the phone didn't even apologize and said it's not his fault when obviously it was the offices fault. So I go back 2 days later and the spaying is done successfully,also took an hour to pick her up when I called 3 hours before to tell them when I was going to be there. I've gotten multiple animals spayed and I have never seen an animal as sore as this one. It's very obvious they were not careful with her during surgery (crying and limping around)They also put in stitches that have to come out and didn't use glue (yay for going back). I will never be going back and I caution anyone else who goes there. Also they cut her nails to the pout of bleeding as well read more

I went to this vet after others recommended it for my senior cat, the front desk staff is nice and welcoming however I was not impressed by the vet. My first complaint is... being a new client he didnt even bother to come in to introduce himself and talk to me before the tech took my cat back. When he finally did come in, he still didnt bother to introduce himself. He seemed more concerned with the rabies vaccine then actually addressing why my cat is sick. I'm not sure he even examined my cat as he just stood by the counter and didnt touch her in the room. I will not be back. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE FOR ANY REASON. This vet killed our cat due to incompetence. We brought her in for grooming and she was given too much anesthesia and they used out-dated labs to determine she was healthy enough for grooming. She came home lethargic and never recovered - we had to take her to the Emergency Vet in Lithia Springs where she died. They should have known that you don't use Ketamine on cats older than 12 years. She never had a chance with these people. While they paid our cost to cremate our baby and waived the vet bill, they will never replace our baby. That was three years ago and we will never forget what they did. read more

We have been using the Ark for grooming for many years. They always did a great job with our shih-tzu who had to be sedated to be groomed. However, I brought our new, 5 month old goldendoodle puppy in today for her first groom, called to check on her 5 1/2 hours later only to be told that she was being hyper and would be about 30 more minutes. So, when I called back to let them know I would just come and get her, she had only had a shampoo, blow dry and her nails trimmed. They had not been able to finish her half groom because she was being hyper and kept peeing on them (nothing that seems too out of the ordinary for most puppies). Unbeknownst to me, our usual groomer was out and her clients had been assigned to a different groomer. On top of not leaving inexperienced groomers to take on dogs they are not capable of handling, The Ark needs to consider making actual appointments so that dogs don't needlessly sit there all day waiting to be groomed. So, if you have a dog that is perfectly behaved, will sit still, and not excitedly pee anywhere, and doesn't mind sitting in a crate in a strange place for hours and hours; or if your dog needs to be completely sedated, this place is great. Otherwise, think twice. read more

I've been bringing my pets to Dr Bowen for over 15 years. He's a great vet both with the pets and with you. I don't feel I'm being overcharged whereas I have felt that way at other vets before. I drive a bit to get to Dr B but I feel it is worth it. As with anything, especially medical, you need to be your pet's advocate. I would not recommend this animal hospital to anyone who actually cares for their animals. We have a 4 month old chihuahua who broke her leg while jumping off the bed. Now, we rushed to The Ark and was given two options; 1.) we could do surgery that would range from $900 to $1,500 or 2.) we could euthanize her. We had to beg to just get a splint just until we could figure out some other way to help her heal. Keep in mind, Dr. Delaney did not take an X-ray or even examine her, and he was not happy when we settled for a splint. Never again will I step foot in that place because they are so quick to give up on your fur baby... she is doing well now and has been treated for her injuries. Keep your pets safe and be sure you check all of your options before allowing them to do anything. We almost came home without our little princess. read more

I scheduled for my Shorkie to be boarded for five days while out on vacation. To my dissatisfaction, my ten month old Shorkie was removed from a paid smaller cage and placed into a bigger cage in a separate section that was hot and occupied by multiple bigger dogs apart from other small dogs. I was devastated seeing that my puppy looked neglected besides his hair falling off him from being so dry and brittle. He looked extremely stressed, tired, hot, and malnourished from being somewhat not cared for at this facility. I will never bring him back there again, for the staff neglected him and did not stop to think about his security and welfare against other bigger dogs. Their main concerns were to allowed him freedom and convenience to play with his toys but it seemed as though my Shorkie remained outside in the heat without water and food rather then in a smaller size cage inside a cooler area. I paid for him to reside in a smaller case; equally important, his penis and balls were so red and swollen. Notwithstanding the watery red tired eyes yet he looked so sad and not a happy puppy. If I could rate the Ark Animal Hospital a zero, it would be it needless to say I would rate its boarding services as a one star. read more
