Started out with a Nissan Versa and when State Farm made the decision that it was the other parties fault, was able to upgrade to a Nissan Titan, at no cost to me. Made driving in this time more tolerable. All the staff at Hertz were courteous, respectful, and extremely helpful. I am singling out, Ethan Gallegos, who exemplified, true professionalism. Picked me up and then they paid for my return to my home, via Lyft (First time using Lyft). Highly recommend Hertz and especially the Palatine spot. Cheers!

The vehicle they exchanged it for was great until it wouldn't start the next morning and ended up making me late for my work conference. There was an electrical issue with the key that couldn't be resolved and instead of helping me or brining me another vehicle I had to wait hours for a tow truck to take the car and me to Ohare to exchange the vehicle. The most they would do is credit me for one day and this significantly derailed my trip overall. There are better rental companies for the price Avis charges. Their lack of customer service and failure to maintain their vehicles will make them a never again company for me.

The manager is absolutely horrible -- rude, disrespectful, impatient, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. There was not a single moment where I felt like a valued customer. Every question was met with attitude, and the level of hostility was unbelievable. The car itself was filthy, clearly not cleaned before I received it. There were stains, dust, and trash left inside. On top of that, the car had multiple issues malfunctioning, making me question how they are even allowed to rent vehicles in this condition. The fact that they would hand a customer a car like that says everything about how little they care. And when I left an item in the vehicle and tried to retrieve it, the staff and manager acted like I was an inconvenience and made the process way harder than it needed to be. No empathy, no effort, no respect. I will never rent from Hertz again and I strongly recommend that no one else does either. Save yourself the headache, the disrespect, and the unsafe cars. I wish they had more than one person working so things went a bit more quickly but it wasn't too bad. Very friendly staff though! With the car itself, I wish it was easier to sync up my iPhone for streaming, never could get it to work. However it was mostly clean, found a wrapper in between the seats and one in the trunk...but overall clean & sanitized. Returning the car was even easier. I was there right at opening so things went really quickly and there were no problems with the return. No hidden fees but they do put a hold of a few hundred on your card while you have the rental. Tip: It's actual cheaper to get the gas refill through them. Nice little tidbit when gas is expensive AF.

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee we rented was so comfortable and in great shape, despite a few sticky spots inside the car when we first got it. Alex said there can sometimes be soap residue from the cleaning. I was impressed with how easy it was to upgrade to this size SUV from the one I originally reserved. We loved the double sun roof too! Quick and easy return here too, even on a busy Monday morning. I would rent from this location again in the future.

Absolutely the worst service imaginable! When we arrived to pick up the 10 foot truck I had…read morereserved 4 days prior, only one 15 foot truck was parked on the lot. Upon entering, only one employee was there to take care of 4 or 5 clients and was completely overwhelmed. We and another customer were told that there were two trucks available; one 15 miles away and one with the keys stuck in the drop box. My dad being the tool man that he is, grabbed a crow bar out of his car and jimmied the key box open so that we could get a truck. The other customer, poor guy, argued with the employee (he too had made a reservation days before) just so that he could get the additional mileage covered by Budget, and headed on his way to another town. When we finally got our keys, checked out the outside of the vehicle and hopped into the truck, we were an hour and a half behind schedule. After returning the truck, and finding out there was no mileage reported on the receipt and filling the gas tank up to where it was when we got the truck (3/4 full) we found out that we were charged for an additional 40 miles and a gas charge for $40 and $11 to fill it up completely. Still waiting to get my refund.
