Been on a mission to try more pizza in the area. Stopped by right before they closed for some slices and it was clear they were happy to sell the last of the slices as they were room temperature at best when we received them. The inside is small and unassuming with extremely minimal seating - definitely a take out only place. The pepperoni slice was ok, but a little too sweet tasting for the slice. The vegetables on the slice with vegetable and chicken on top didn't hit for me. I did like the Sicilian grandma slice but again, was not at a good temperature so it's hard to say. I wouldn't come here again unfortunately, but I do think people would have a better experience coming in earlier when the pizza is served fresh and hot. read more

Since my sister relocated back to Brooklyn, this is her closest pizza joint. She has brought it back to MD many times, but I was lucky to finally have it fresh. I called ahead and they said it would be ready in 15-20 minutes -- and it was ready right in 15. We got a pizza with onions and peppers on it, and they did NOT skimp on those toppings. I'm telling you, it's like they chopped up a whole onion and pepper and scattered it on the pizza. And the chunks were HUGE! Upon first bite, it was a reminder of just how amazing New York Pizza is. Even the worst in the city is leagues above what some consider the best in the DMV -- not to knock it, because the DMV still has some amazing gems. The prices aren't bad either. NY has many many many pizza options, but consider trying Armando's if you're in the immediate area. Oh, and they're on Too Good To Go! read more

iight so Armandos is... decent pizza. It's not the greatest, but the people are nice and it's a nice lil set up. The pizza kind of sells itself since there aren't many pizza shops close by. When I just want a pizza, I'll go here, but it doesn't hit how it COULD. Its like you can get a baconeggandcheese at any deli but that don't mean its gonna hit. You feel me? They recently got this pepperoni square grandma slice. The pepperoni square is prolly the most popular slice in Brooklyn right now, but Armandos needs to do better. I think they added honey to the crust, so it tastes too sweet. Then they use these paper thin cupped pepperoni pieces which hold more grease than meat. There needs to be a balance of salt and sweet. If they maybe made the honey spicy and made the pepperoni thicker, or just added some damn salt to the crust, the slice would HIT. Go try it and give em some feedback, I doubt I'll be the only one. Solid place for a couple floppy NY slices. I liked the sesame seeds on the margherita crust and the pepperoni was greasy but good. Both came out piping hot. My partner got a veggie and BBQ chicken slice and both were generously covered with toppings. Service was quick and prices were reasonable. read more

They served up some good old school style pizza along with some really good customer service. Even though I had tons of questions over the phone, the guy I spoke to was very nice and patient. When I finally ordered and went to pick up the food, it was waiting warm and ready only 20 minutes after I placed the order. I thoroughly enjoyed the garlic knots, plain pizza and bbq wings. Great neighborhood spot from a regular pizzeria. read more

Arguably the best pizza in Brooklyn (aside from Artichoke pizza). The customer service here is impeccably because as soon as you enter, you're greeted. I actually ended up ordering a slice with calamari to go. On this particular day the credit card machine was done and I didn't have cash. They allowed me to get my food and go and come back later on in the day to pay. There's not many places that will allow you to do that so it was greatly appreciated. A single slice of the pepperoni pizza had my stomach hurting for hours until I eventually threw up at 6 in the morning. I've had the chicken parmigiana before and it was decent (needed salt) but the pizza was incredibly oily and salty. I won't be eating here again. read more

Man do I miss a New York slice. I've found a place back home that I thought captured the taste just perfectly but Armando's confirmed it. And the prices WOW. A Large cheese w extra cheese, fettuccine with FRIED chicken WHAT? Mozzarella sticks x2 and wings DELIVERED for a fairly reasonable price? YES!!!! All of it was great too. Man I miss NYC food and in these days where delivery can be had at the press of a few buttons from so many good eateries, you guys don't know how good you have it here! Thank you! read more

I stayed at an Airbnb around the block from this place with a few friends and let me tell ya, this place took care of us all week long!! For a small place like this, their pizza and pasta are amazing, as well as their garlic bread, we gorged ourselves every evening with their food and the fact that their workers would deliver does such a cheap price and be so kind about everything added the cherry on top, real love. read more

One of my favorite cuisines is Italian. I ordered for two - the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, spaghetti and meatball, as well as a slice of grandma Sicilian pizza. Delizioso! I do not eat pork products and I know some restaurants use pork or a mixed combination of proteins in their meatballs. Out of an abundance of caution, I repeatedly asked for assurance that the meatballs were made of beef and nothing else. The fettuccine alfredo was not overpowered by the cream sauce, it was the right ratio. My son devoured the pizza slice and had the spaghetti dish for dinner. I definitely loved both pasta dishes (of course I had to sample his dish), because you could identify the flavors and knew that they were fresh. so i order from armando's on a starving friday night, they actually came pretty quick. i had the mozzerella sticks( didnt like them at all) the buffalo chicken pizza (was salty) and the Tomato soup (was ok) since i was lazy i got what i got if i had went in maybe i would of seen better selections to pick from. Havent ordered again since but this just seems like a order there and eat type of spot. read more

Maybe I caught them on a bad day but my pizza was pretty bad. On the advice of other reviewers I had the grandma slice. It looked beautiful and the sauce was great. Problem was the bread was very doughy and tasted like raw flour. Could've been a one time thing and the sauce really was delicious, so I might give them another chance. read more

I always crave pizza, even now. This take-away place seemed like it's been handles by real pizza pros, so I came in. They do have a wide variety of Italian dishes. I took the Spinach roll, the Sicilian pizza and a regular slice (I was hungry :) ). The hit them up and I took it to go. The place only has two small rounded tables and like 5 sits, so it's not really built for "eat in". Also, when I sit in a restaurant, I care about the experience, so it's more of a "pick up" place. The Spinach roll was good, also the Sicilian, but I feel like the regular pizza bit them both. The sauce was a good balance between sweet and salty, and the dough was not as pretty crusty, which I love. Overall, a good experience. read more

Very few things in life make me happy and this pizza place is one of them. I LOVE their margarita pizza. I usually trust margaritas to the greats and not to little shoddy Brooklyn shops. This is the only place I go to for sicilian or grandma slices. I wish I were kidding but I've been betrayed too many times by places claiming to have a grandma slice or even know what that is, and I get served a cold, wet square of pizza. Sad. Armando's holds it down in a way that only few other places can. I don't eat anything else from here, not because of quality, but only because I think their grandma slices are the best pizza they serve. I did try the cannoli here once and I'm absolutely certain it was perfectly sugary and also just enough to make me join a gym. The folks who work here are always very laid back, there's no games or attitude, just pizza. read more

I just got a baked ziti and a penne alla vodka from here and for one the penne is flavorless and pasty. Then the baked ziti tasted like marinara sauce. Then the bread that comes with the pasta was legit just a single small hard ass roll. When most places provide multiple pieces or a long bread to eat along side the entire pasta. Very disappointing. The pizza here is very good and it's pretty close to my house which is awesome. The prices are not bad either so that's a plus. I ordered a pie through Yelp to be delivered and the process was really easy and they delivered very fast. It was good but some of the dough wasn't fully done but they explained to me that you have to tell them that you want your pie "Well done" which I never heard of but now I know..Large pie is pretty big and it cost $13 plus extra charges like tax n they automatically charge $1 for delivery aside from whatever you tip. All in all it's very good and I'll continue doing business with them! -So remember: if you want your pie fully cooked,you have to say you want it "Well done"! Enjoy! read more

Pizza was good! And it's only a couple blocks away from my apartment. The crust was extremely crispy. And it was piping hot. The cheese was so hot it burned the top of my mouth, but I love my pizzas that way. The people were also super nice and friendly. My favorite part of the pizza here is the crust. It's not burnt unlike some places I know. Overall this was a great experience! read more

If you ever take the J train to or from the Chauncey St stop, you have taken a whiff of Armando's Pizza and found it to be irresistible. If you have the strength to keep walking by without stopping in for a slice, I salute you. The first time I gave in and went in, I was pleasantly surprised by how good their grandma slice is. The garlic knots are awesome too. Since I found out that Armando's tastes as good as it smells, I find myself stopping in here for my usual order of a grandma slice and a pepperoni pinwheel every couple weeks. The workers are always really nice. The price is definitely right too. Happy to have a pizza joint like this in the neighborhood read more

I think this place has great pizza. I'm super basic so the cheese slice is perfect for me with the crushed red chili peppers. The only thing I will say about them is that they do not answer the phone when you call sometimes. For any restaurant I give them two tries with the phone, if they don't pick up on the second try then I take my business elsewhere. I'm not saying I won't go there again but they definitely should be more aware of phone orders. read more

I had a great delivery experience which is not always the case with pizza around here! I ordered through Yelp's Eat24 app, and was able to use ApplePay which I always appreciate. The delivery minimum was very reasonable and the delivery charge was only $1 so that was great. The food arrived ten minutes before the estimated delivery time and the delivery guy was quite friendly. The pizza was perfectly cooked, and there was the perfect cheese to sauce to crust ratio. Throughly cooked, not burnt, still hot upon delivery!! I got half pepperoni, and there wasn't a ton of it honestly, maybe 12 pieces for half the large pizza, but it was so good I didn't mind! The garlic knots were also delicious! The mozzarella sticks were just okay, but I kind of expected that. Overall, l really appreciate the quick delivery, good/hot food and the pleasant service. I will definitely order from here again! read more

I am still eating, or attempting to eat this nasty pizza now as I write. It's like cafeteria pizza from a school. Gross. The pepperoni was not even cooked. Cheese not melted on my Sicilian pizza. Literally a block of grossness. The mozzarella sticks are soggy and all the cheese is in the aluminum. Disgusting. I'm literally throwing my money in the trash can right now. Yuck. This my go to pizza places. Their pizza never fails. But today I ventured out and got a calzone, it was not a look good. The Pepperoni calzones I got was over powered by cheese it was just way too much. Despite that one bad calzone I still highly recommend this place. read more

She got me set up and ready within 10 minutes. The shop was busy at 11pm to closing and everyone looked like they were having a good time. It's a bar pizza shop in the heart of Williamsburg. I really enjoyed this one, especially the thick and crispy crust. The sauce and fillings are overflowing, so it gets a bit messy to eat but can't complain. They even offer free WiFi here, which is kind of cool. The spot is filled with nostalgic tapes, movies, and games that feel like a throwback. Best to come with more people and try a variety of flavors here though.

Personally, I would not rate this pizza anywhere near a 9.3, especially considering how many great pizza options there are in Brooklyn. That being said, it is still a good slice and worth trying. I just don't think it quite lives up to the hype or the exceptionally high rating it has received.

I've been eating L&B Spumoni Gardens for as long as I can remember, and it remains exactly what it's supposed to be: loud, crowded, unpretentious, completely its own thing, and ridiculously good. The square slice is the square slice. Sauce on top, cheese underneath, crispy edges, soft center. Don't overthink it. Get one. Then realize you should have gotten two. The sit-down food is classic Brooklyn Italian comfort food, the portions are generous, and obviously you finish with the spumoni. This isn't precious food and it isn't trying to impress anybody. That's precisely the point. Brooklyn has changed about 9,625,247 times in my lifetime. L&B is still L&B. Five stars. Always.

Sometimes I do tip extra generously, but I don't want to feel like I was tricked into doing it! Looking thru reviews here, I see other people also experienced this, including people in small parties who were locked into the 20% when it should have definitely been 18%. :/ So close to a good experience, but ruined by tricksy billing.
