Dr. K did an excellent job, and I felt completely comfortable and confident in his care while having two of my wisdom teeth removed. The quality of the procedure itself was great, which is why I would still consider returning if my remaining wisdom teeth need treatment in the future. The reason for my 3-star rating is the pain management aspect of my experience. After surgery, I experienced severe pain that lasted nearly two weeks. During that time, I was unable to work, and could do little beyond resting and trying to manage the discomfort. I understand the doctor's position that studies show Tylenol and ibuprofen are often the most effective approach, and I also understand that stronger pain medications should be prescribed carefully. However, in my case, I felt that the severity of my pain was not taken seriously when I expressed concerns and requested additional relief. I don't think it's one size fits all, and everyone's bodies and pain tolerances are different, and I'm sure the infection I had prior to the surgery didn't help the pain aspect. The small amount of stronger pain medication I was prescribed was the only thing that provided meaningful relief, allowing me to sleep and function without being in constant distress, along with icing my face, but it did not last me enough to be able to go back to work and function, which was very frustrating. I'm in my late 20s, so perhaps my recovery was more difficult than average. Regardless, every patient experiences pain differently and recovers differently. I have full confidence in this doctor's skill and professionalism, but I wish there had been more flexibility and consideration for my individual circumstances when it came to pain management. That part of the experience has made me hesitant about returning, despite my positive impression of the doctor and the quality of the surgery itself. read more

I recently had a very disappointing experience at Karapetyan and Gotikyan Dental Corporation. I left work early and drove over an hour to make my scheduled appointment, only to be told--after waiting nearly 30 minutes--that the doctor would not see me until I paid an outstanding balance of over $2,000. I was never informed that I had any balance due. The front desk later mentioned that a bill was supposedly sent in August, but I never received anything. From August all the way to November/December, not a single phone call, message, or reminder was sent to inform me of an outstanding balance. Meanwhile, the office called me several times to schedule my follow-up appointment, yet still no one mentioned that I would be required to pay over $2,000 before being seen. Mail gets lost. Calls don't. If I had been told ahead of time, I would have handled the issue before coming in. Instead, I was blindsided and embarrassed at the office, and my time, effort, and drive were completely wasted. A bill of over $2,000 is not a simple copay. There was absolutely no transparency about the possibility that insurance might not cover the full amount or that I could be responsible for such a large balance. Patients' time and effort are valuable, and medical offices must be respectful, transparent, and communicative. I truly hope they improve their practices and consider the impact of such oversights on patients. read more

I had a very frustrating experience with this dental office and urge others--especially those using INSURANCE --to be careful. There were delays, poor communication, and billing issues that didn't match my insurance records. I only received my refund after multiple calls and getting my insurance involved, and there was no apology. If you're using insurance, double-check everything--your eligibility, what they tell you upfront, and your EOB afterward. I would not recommend this office based on my experience. read more

I struggled with a mucocele cyst for over a year and went through two failed removal attempts with other surgeons each followed by painful recoveries and the cyst coming back. Only come here if you have great insurance. They will treat you better. The oral surgeon was great, he's super nice. Great knowledge. But the front desk.... They need to get re trained on costumer service and processes. One, I came an hour early from request of the front desk and then sat there for so long for no reason after the checking in only taking 10 minutes. Two, Why did I need to call them 5 times why didn't they send out my authorization out. Till the 5th call they said it takes them two weeks to send out???? Why, everything is digital. After that last call, my insurance received the next day. The front desk lady, who ever it was, I feel bad, she heard my tone but she kept saying I don't know and that she will ask billing but never heard from them. Like isn't there a system with notation of what goes out and notes about my consultation. Then I find out they are charging over 2k for my wisdom teeth and sedation. No. I'll go somewhere else. My initial experiences were fantastic... However, I'm disappointed to report that my mother had a very unpleasant experience with the front desk during a phone call today. Given how much I've raved about this place, it's incredibly frustrating to hear that she was treated poorly. Unfortunately, this recent encounter has changed my perception of the practice. I'm still grateful for the care I received in the past, but after this, I'm reconsidering whether I can continue to recommend this office to others. The way patients and their families are treated by the front desk is just as important as the care they receive from the doctor. I hope this was a one-off issue, but based on some of their recent reviews, it seems like this may be an ongoing problem that needs to be addressed. My apologies to Dr Kotikian and his staff for not writing this sooner. Nearly three years ago I hit uneven concrete and was thrown from my bicycle. The good news is I was smart enough to know as I sailed through the air to not injure my hands and arms so I kept them by my side. The bad news is I landed on my jaw. Broke it in three places so it was barely attached to my skull. I went to see Dr. Kotikian and he wired my mouth shut for six weeks. And as far as I know he did a great job. But when I went to see my dentist and two orthodontist, all of them told me what great work was done to repair the damage the concrete had done. So now, a few short weeks from the anniversary of my injury, I write to thank Dr Kotikian and his staff for their services, their support, and their kindness. 6 STARS and bless them all. I went in September (2024) and spoke with Armond Kotikian about an infected tooth that I wanted extracted. Out of pocket cost for me after AETNA ppo dental insurance payment would be over $850 (local anesthesia with socket preservation and bone graft), or over $1000 (general anesthesia with socket preservation and bone graft). I told the office I didn't want bone graft and socket preservation but the office would not take these options off. I paid $24.80 out of pocket at another oral dental surgeon office with just local anesthesia. read more

Dr Kotikian is an excellent oral surgeon. He pulled two teeth and prepared my jaw for implants and the experience was fine. His front office staff, however, is incompetent. I called to ask a simple question about an upcoming visit, but before I could even state my reason for calling, I was put on hold. After 15 minutes, thinking she had left for the day or dropped dead, I hung up and called back. She answered with "Please hold." I said, "I've been holding for 15 minutes already." She said, "We're short-staffed," and put me on hold again. This time, it was 30 more minutes on hold. I have been referred to Dr. Kotikian for implants for a few years by my amazing dentist Dr. Harry Ellyass,i however, I never got the chance to go until few days ago when I had excruciating pain and my dentist said I need to see an oral surgeon he can't pull out the tooth himself. I called the office in pain, obviously they had no availability the same day. But I explained my situation still took the appointment 10 days after and was very upset. Shortly after I got a call back from the girl asking if i can go the same day at 4 pm. I agreed. Everyone was super nice and professional, extremely sweet. The minute I met dr. Kotikian I understood why. He himself was so kind, emphatic and patient. Assessed my medical background and dental history, the girls had already done the xray with their state of the art machines in minutes. We also did a quick CT scan to look at my implants situation. They prepped me for the extraction by the time I got to stress over it, it was over. He was so gentle and calm, his calming demeanor put me at ease, when I would normally be scared to look at the numbing needle. Smooth extraction and stitching done. Safe to say I left smiling with antibiotics and pain meds. If you need an oral surgeon he's your guy. Outstanding bedside manners and ability to educate about the process without scaring you with high level of professionalism. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Every time I describe my wisdom teeth experience, people comment that I probably had the best surgeon in LA. I found Armond through my insurance list, which I called and found they would offer me the quickest appointment + include my consultation and operation in the same visit. They provided a full list of safety precautions prior to my visit (wearing short sleeve top to easily inject the anesthesia, wearing closed toed shoes to avoid tripping after my procedure and having a safe driver with me). -- The office even called me when they had an open availability, which was so nice considering how much pain I was in. I'm sure healing is different for everyone. But I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed. For the next few days, I experienced no swelling and no bruising. Mostly just tightness and inability to open my mouth as much. After a week, I was full healed. I appreciated the doctors caution around prescribing narcotics and he was extremely helpful and diligent. I felt comfortable the entire time. I loved my experience there and wish more people knew about how great this extraction experience can be. read more

I walk in and ask to see the doctor cuz my face is swollen I want to see what to do about this and also start my veneers consultation. Only reason I came here was my last time doctor was nice and they called me a month or two later to ask if I wanted to come in for veneers so I always kept them in the back of my mind. Anyways I go in and the BLAND drywall personality workers in the front. Told me to go and come back at 3:30pm mind you I was there at 12pm am not from Glendale and it's a workday. Ok So I go back in at exactly 3:30pm they ask for the consultation money upfront like I'm gonna run away from your 90$ fee anyways back to the story they made me sit there for another 45 minutes while other people who would come in after me were being seen. They have an appointment? So do I! I waited around 3and a half hours already for this appointment driving around Glendale. After I tell them that I'm not satisfied with the service they tell me I have to wait another 15 mins so basically I will see a doctor an hour after my appointment with a swollen face and in pain. I lost my shit told them to give me my money back and left. I'll take my cash money somewhere else while you enjoy billing those 7 other people who you saw before me. You need a new front desk Armond. Y'all Wasted my day for nothing! My time is money and important for me so if yours is also this might not be your place for you. The pace they work at should only be for retired old folks who have nothing to do. When others were telling me about their doctors I stayed loyal to where I would go because I promised that doctor I would've returned for the veneers but then this happened. Let me start by saying my entire family has been treated by Dr. Kotikian: from my grandparents to my parents. The results for all: positive and pain free. A visit to my general dentist we found that I had to remove my wisdom tooth asap: I called the office of Dr. Kotikian and the amazing staff scheduled me the following day. The doctor took X-rays and confirmed that my tooth did need to be extracted. Long story short, we proceeded and my wisdom tooth was extracted. The process was so smooth and effortless, when the doctor said he is finished I was shocked. I am so happy with his work and so amazed at his professionalism. Terrible customer service, unbearable call center operators. They can even speak to you in a very high tone and volume. Pick up the phone and ask to wait for a minute and pick up the phone in at least 40 minutes. Contacted in August and asked for an appointment through MediCal. It was an urgent situation and ER asked to see an oral surgeon. The appointment for urgent situation was given in February. Called several times and asked to give an ASAP appointment, there was no place, suddenly something appeared in December and I was luck to take that. To mention again, it took August to December to have an urgent appointment. Today it is 12/13/2024, the office sent me an appointment pre-confirmation on other customer's name. I contacted back, saying it is a wrong name on it, they apologized and sent me another text with correct number. To keep short, they told me right now that after waiting for 4 months they cancel my appointment, saying their office cancels all the appointment with Preferred IPA (which is my insurance provider) starting from December 1. Maybe they did not know about this in August, September, October and November, but they knew it in December and it is already the 13th day of December. These people are doctors who gave Hippocratic oath and are humans? No way!!! If there is a way to rate negative number, I would definitely put it. And, the lady who picked up the phone to inform about the cancellation literally was screaming on me repeating the same questions. I had a very different opinion on Armenian doctors!!! read more

I was rather nervous about the whole thing, especially the day of the surgery, but he stayed calm and kind the whole time. Following the surgery he called the same day to check on me and provide me with more post op instructions to make the next few days more comfortable. I had very little swelling and discomfort throughout the week after my surgery and I felt as though he did a very clean and professional job with my surgery. I am now one month post op and have been relieved of the pain my wisdom teeth used to cause me and I had no troubles while healing from my surgery. Great experience! My 9 year old needed to have two teeth pulled since they were not falling out on their own. After the consult with Dr. Kotikian, I knew he was the one we were going to for the procedure. I was more nervous than my daughter, but there was no need. He did an amazing job distracting my daughter and keeping her calm while they were preparing her for the procedure. So much so, that she was completely unaware of the needle going in her arm! Recently, because of another dentist my gum was bleeding non-stop for 12 hours so the emergency room referred me to Dr. Kotikian once again and I knew I was in great hands. He was the only one that was able to stop the bleeding. I clearly remember that for both instances he called to check up on me in the evening and the exceptional care he provided has not changed over the past 11 years.
