    Tuna Salad Sandwich
    Mitch P.

We were going to the Hudson theater looking for a restaurant fairly close before the event and hadn't been to a "diner" in a long time so thought we'd try this out. While not too crowded when we got there lots of people were waiting by the time we left so must be very popular. Jasmin, our initial server, has a fun sense of humor and was really good. Unfortunately she went on a break and the follow up servers not as quick, probably cuz the place had every table with customers. The 3 of us got a tuna melt, club sandwich and fried chicken sandwich and all were very good. Very interesting that a "kitchen appreciation" fee was added to the bill over and above the tip suggestions and was maybe 3%. This place worth going to again should we be in the neighborhood. One last thing - I called 3 times a couple hours trying to make reservations and basically none answered and no leaving messages allowed.

Stopped in and wow so impressed with the food, service and general vibe. Ordered their cheeseburger with onion rings, everything was prepared and cooked so fresh! Can't recommend enough of how great this place is!

In Real Time Review. [3rd visit]: 9:30 A.M. Food Server: Barbara ***** Five Stars Thank you for your courtesy to serve your customers sincerely. Your production of service and attention to detail and presentation within the confines of your work section is exemplary. Thank you for communicating the "Kitchen appreciation" charge. My reviews consist of "Production of Service" and the quality of Customer Service. Part I: Production of Service Clark Street Diner, the establishment rating "Three Stars" are based on the totality of consumers experience and expectations (drive-by, walk-in, telephone and website) not being able to call and make inquires of business hours, foods and services before driving to location. This means that You, the customer have no idea beforehand to determine whether or not the restaurant is open, availability of menu and seasonal items, closed to private events and long lines which establishes a "wait list" are sufficient examples for why customers call-ahead. RULE #1 [customer is before service-- hence "customer service". If you are unable to assist customers prior to their visit (updated information on ALL third-party platforms and links, websites etc) then the business have technically failed the customer in providing services they're in business to provide. The telephone number on website and other various platforms "ring" ...so if you are a "caller" DON''T waste your time by calling as no one will answer. As far as I am aware, the Hours of Operation: 7 AM - 9 PM and until 11 PM on the weekends. I was greeted when I approached the counter / cashier and advised to sit anywhere "where there is table wear"--i.e., napkins, forks and spoons. Which is always wonderful when a business can allow customers to seat themselves and pick their desired destination to be served. This is a luxurious feature--not a necessity. I observed personnel services to be adequate not exceptional. It is a diner but...however too many restaurants are willing to be exceptional in food and beverage--and not exceptional enough for the customer. Staff are consistently moving around taking orders and clearing tables in street leisure non-uniform wear clothing or a designated Clark Street Dinner tee-shirts "uniform" for earning wage workers--and not so much for salary earners. In the mornings, Clark Street Diner appears to have an older, mature guest than in the afternoons and evenings, perhaps. The restaurant welcomes both hotel guest and walk-ins. My server was adequate and friendly ( he expressed a shortage of public relations skills ) I would choose another server next time. There is (as I understand) FREE PARKING --no restricted times but shared parking accessibility in designated areas for hotel patrons and restaurant guest. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO DINE AS A LOCAL AND TOURIST--this is a GREAT SPOT for striking up conversations with THE LOCALS and meeting someone new who lives abroad. On the receipt there is "Kitchen Appreciation" 0.78 cents charge--this "charge" increases per total amount. BUYER BEWARE of hidden items, charges and fees. It is the responsibility of STAFF to inform ALL GUEST of menu pricing and surcharges--especially for unexpected items such as "Kitchen Appreciation" or pre calculated gratuitous fees "tipping" percentages. Yes moreover, customers can customize their own tipping---but other "factors of expenses" may be non negotiable. You are hereby advised to inquire of "unexpected fees" "86 foods, beverages and products items" before ordering foods to-go or to dine in--as the production of service is at times, inadequate ---for example, when you're ill informed and charged. Often business merchants find it is easy to spend money that belongs to other people. In my professional opinion as a customer service expert: No matter how significant the itemized charges are--give customers an option to opt-out. Or properly advise them before orders are placed, prepared and delivered. Part II: Food Review I came here for the blueberry pancakes. I did enjoy them and "blueberry lovers l" will too--moreover, a true "blueberry lover" would not drive across town to order them--unlike Dupar's Restaurant in the Farner's Market at the Grove. Nonetheless, if you live in the neighborhood or adjacent to--You would make a trip whether "a special trip", perhaps... They were full of blueberries, slightly on thin side with a darker brown layer but the "soft and fluffiness"--may differ "from one day to the next" depending upon who's cooking per the waiter. The production of service includes: consistency, quality and quantity--areas often lacking in hospitality industries: restaurants and bars or any business establishment that places "service before customer" I would never discourage anyone from enjoying their own experience. Moreover, I do encourage Clark Street Dinner to do more to better their public relations and social images before customers come in to be served. Good luck!

Sometimes you just have a craving for breakfast for dinner. At Clark Street Diner, you can get that itch scratched along with other diner classics. Pull up a chair on the counter or a seat at one of the plush booths. You might remember the scene from Swingers, where Vince Vaughn jumps up on one of the tables. Diner Breakfast: They've got the textures down pat. The pancakes are crispy at the edges, and fluffy in the middle. The bacon is good and meaty. Drizzle some Zab's hot sauce on the crispy and soft hashbrowns while the yolks ooze from the sunny side up eggs.

Could not recommend clark st diner more. Most important part- BARBARA. Ask for the server, Barbara. She has been serving my daughter and our family since she was 1 years old and now she's 5. She goes above and beyond for us and everyone around her. She has planned bday parties (without me asking) for our daughter at the diner. She remembers our food and drink orders to a T. Even if we don't see her for a month or more because of busy schedules she's still on her game every time we come . She's fast, efficient, and friendly. I could go on and on about her.

This was our first visit to Clark Street Diner, and it was such a great experience. I've been wanting to try their blueberry pancakes forever, so we came early on Saturday. The booths were already full, but the host found us a warmer spot for our baby and brought over a high chair, which we really appreciated. We ordered the diner breakfast with blueberry pancakes, the breakfast sandwich, and a pain aux raisin. The pancakes were fluffy and flavorful, with blueberries in every bite. The sandwich was great too -- the bread was easily the best part (no surprise from Clark Street!). Our server, Sally, was wonderful: warm, personable, and attentive. The whole place has a cozy diner vibe with tasteful LA touches throughout. Parking was a bit tricky, but we found street parking around the block. Excellent food, welcoming service, and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

This is the perfect classic diner spot with good comfort food. I've been several times and it's always hit the spot. Beware, it is busy pretty much at all times. Sometimes there is a wait. So prepared, but it is worth it. The pastries are great, which they have at the front. I've tried the pancakes and veggie burger too.

    Nate P.

Premier brekky spot. Tons of good options and most everything looks good. Definitely can be a wait if you have a group or come at prime times. Thankfully I was alone and was seated right away at their bar. Went with biscuits and gravy, with a side of bacon, and a pancake. The biscuits were definitely homemade and thicc, gravy was excellent as well. The bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. I can't remember their style of pancakes but you definitely gotta try one. Hefty and fluffy and all around scrumptious. Parking is tough but there is a hotel connected that has small valet parking. It's only $10 but I think they validate if you go to the restaurant.

Food is a bit too traditional for me. Parking is a major pain in the you know what.
    Tim L.

A bit too ordinary. This diner serves traditional style diner food, which is quite unusual for the food scene in Los Angeles. I've been to many different diners over the years and the majority had one or two things that really stood out and made me want to go back again. Unfortunately, this diner isn't it for me. While the service was good, the noise level was excessive and street parking is very hard to find. It's a good diner in its own right based on how popular it is but it's just not my kind of food.

Came back a second weekend in a row and I am officially OBSESSED. Update on the parking: I think it's only valley towards the side of the building? $10. I seriously love everything about this place. The coffee, service, food, atmosphere 10/10. Looking forward to this becoming our Sunday breakfast spot.

This is the definition of a diner! Hands down the best diner in LA. They have all the classics plus minus the grease. They take pride in the food they serve, everything is high quality and taste amazing. My favorite is the breakfast sandwich with is packed with the most luscious greens, heirloom tomatoes, crispy bacon with perfect runny eggs with their sourdough and secret sauce. Servers are so welcoming and helpful when picking out your breakfast of choice. They are quick and always working hard to get you seated as soon as possible. The cafe decor is the classic diner aesthetic with amazing coffee and mimosas to take it over the top. Come hungry and leave fully satisfied

Clark street diner is one of the best diners still left in Los Angeles. It has such a cool retro vibe to it. We went to Clark street after our hike and the food was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend it. The service is friendly and fast. They have parking on the street or in the back. The baked goods are also fantastic. Highly recommend: Iced Vanilla Latte Croissant Chocolate Chip Cookie Chocolate Chip Pancakes Breakfast Sandwich They make one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in the city if you could get only one thing I would make it the breakfast sandwich.

Ask the Community - Clark Street Diner

Why is there no menu? I would like to see a menu before I decide to go to that diner?

I'm Not sure why they don't have it online. Next time I go, I will post it.

Do they have a parking lot or is it just public street parking? In other words, what's the best place to park to eat at Clark's?

Yes, they have underground parking, it's free

I am a bit confused if this dinner is operated by Clark Street Bakery Echo Park/ Brentwood? The menu and pictures shows no relation to Clark Street, so I guess just same name and totally different cafe. Someone can clarify?

    Yes, google confirms.

Is this same menu as 101 or totally different restaurant? They seem to close at random times, sometimes open late sometimes close at 3p. No phone number. Confused about this joint.

Not the same menu but they've said they're looking to bring back some 101 classics. As far as I know they've been closing at 3p daily. (I've been twice since they opened.) Covid is making things a little crazy for most places.

You can go to a run down old diner in any city, but this is the city of the stars. On this trip even though we were already heading to the establishment it must have been an extra slow day because someone was out on the boulevard trying to direct traffic to the restaurant. About 1/3 of the tables were full when we walked in, and it took a few minutes for us to be seen and seated. The wait staff is perhaps a bit understaffed to really be at their best. Our server did not explain much to us as far as the jukebox at our table, if we could use it and how... it would have been nice to know that. I ordered a Caesar salad and a coffee milkshake. When the server asked me if I wanted a small or large salad I asked what the difference in size was, since it wasn't explained on the menu to which they just kind of shrugged at me. Regardless of the perhaps lackluster service I really loved my food, the true, lived in vintage aesthetic and overall experience. Is 10.25 perhaps a bit expensive for a milkshake, i'd say so....but considering the overpriced reality of any trip to Hollywood I think it's something I would not regret spending my money on. Even though I can see why someone would rate this spot a 3, I simply cannot let my own rating fall below a 5 because I know the next time I'm in town it will be looming in my mind as the ideal place to feed my belly and nostalgic heart.

Now,…read moreit's not the absolutely most spectacular meal I've ever had, but considering how much of a tourist trap it is and how small the crowd was for dinner on a Friday evening, it was pretty darn good stuff. Our server was Juno and she was one of the best waitresses around! Sweet, attentive, super friendly, and her smile couldn't be beat! I ordered the short rib grilled cheese with a side of twisty fries or curly fries, and a Grants milkshake.. The food is definitely expensive the sandwich alone was something like $25 for the sandwich plus $2 for the fries being "upgraded" to curly fries. The shake was $11. For the size of the sandwich, $25 is steep. But you do get a big pile of fries for the upgrade price. The sandwich was toasted well and crispy on both sides, the short rib was tender a tad dry but great flavor, and there was a good amount of cheese! I think it sat for a while because the cheese had congealed so the timing was a slight issue but didn't ruin the sandwich. The fries on the other hand were a big miss. They were SO salty and pretty dry, like my mouth was parched for water every time I ate a curly fry. I don't know what happened there but the $2 was a waste. Now back to the good - the shake was amazing. For $11 they give you a full glass plus the extra in the metal cup. It was so well balanced between the nutella and banana flavors without being overly rich or sweet. It was thick too and had really great consistency. Sadly the sandwich filled me up so I couldn't finish the shake but I would definitely return for a milkshake in the future! Overall, a solid experience and I was pleasantly surprised, and I'd be happy to return if I was in the area!

Can't believe I haven't reviewed still! Fred's is one of the best Americana diners in LA. I am…read moreconvinced, and after you see and try their gigantic menu, and delicious food you will too. The portions are huge, the place is cute as all get out, and there's almost always seating. They have options for literally every dietary need, for an LA affordable price and quick service. Everyone is so kind and you can tell the place runs like the staple it is. The only downside is sides: there's only paid or street parking which gets crazy for Los Feliz. And I don't believe the bathroom would be accessible for a wheelchair user due to a narrow door. While it doesn't personally affect me, I could see it being an issue for anyone not in a compact chair or able to transfer/walk a few steps. You are however still able to get inside the restaurant and sit on the patio otherwise. Overall I highly recommend if you can!

Food: 5/5 ordered curly fries with ranch & an Oreo milkshake. Only bummer was the missing cherry…read more Fries were well-seasoned & great texture! Food came out very quickly & I was happy with the portion sizes. The menu had a wide variety of options. Service: 1.5/5 while the food came out quickly, that was about the only good thing about the service. Server wasn't particularly warm & we had to follow up a couple times for requested items. We didn't even get utensils when we sat & had to wait to flag someone down a few minutes after our food arrived. Things were bussed quickly without being asked if we were finished. Kind of seemed like they just wanted to get rid of us. Ambiance: 4/5 cool atmosphere with comfortable booth seating. Lighting is a bit dim.

Came here on Sunday morning for some classic diner breakfast. The wait time when we got there was…read morearound 20-30 minutes, which wasn't too bad. The staff there was hustling and moving non stop but were very friendly and accomodating. Nick's has a great classic diner ambiance. We got seated inside which was all bar seating. The lively atmosphere inside makes you feel like you're part of the kitchen, which I liked. They also had all these great vintage photos, art and merch hanging on their walls which really added some personality. They also have outside seating and tables that face spring street and the side of LA historic park. Now on to the food. We ordered the Eggs and Steak with a side of hashbrowns and toast, 1st Street Omelette with a side of hash browns and a biscuit, a grilled blueberry muffin and some coffee. Everything was pretty good, especially that grilled muffin. Also, make sure you ask for some house made blueberry jam for your toast or biscuit. You're welcome. They also have some great hot sauces to choose from. The only complaint we had was that the steak was over seasoned with salt that we had to scrape off the top. Other than that, the food was delicious, comforting, and hit the spot. We would definitely come back to try more of their popular menu items.
