This nursery is one of my go-to places for plants, reliable service, and soils all in one place. If you're new to gardening or need some new landscaping plants that are healthy, I would check this one out. The best part of this nursery is actually the staff. I am impressed with the crew here on their effort to help assist you with anything you might need for your next garden project. This is especially helpful for new folk to planting. On my last visit here, one member of staff, Marshall, was kind enough to greet and help me identify the needs of plants, that I was thinking of replacing in many pots I had at home. It's safe to say, I got what I needed with his help-- added some fertilizer and soil to the mix and was good to go. Today, the plants I got were successfully planted and strong. My first time here and I was pleasantly surprised at how cute and organized everything was. I will say that there was a decent variety but I did wish there were more cacti and house plants. They did try to cram as many houseplants in the one room as they could, but it does make it difficult to truly view them. I didn't explore the pots and supplements section but it seemed plentiful. The pricing seemed fair on most things and I ended up buying a couple things to add to my collection. read more

Armstrong Garden Center is on of the best, local nurseries in the area! I went to browse with no intentions other than to pick up a few plants that called to me. Their selection is huge! They have two tennis court size outdoor spaces with everything you could want. Flowers, veggies, herbs, outdoor plants, indoor plants, they really have it all! A great selection of pots too!! I ended up spending close to $100 easily. They have some really cool carnivorous plants as well!! The customer service was great as well! I've visited the Glendale Armstrong location a few times and recently came in to purchase plants and get a design consultation for a narrow garden bed in my front yard. After gathering recommendations from other employees and prepping to make my final choices, I had the good fortune of being helped by Mary--and I can't say enough great things about her and eye for design. She immediately took the time to understand my space and gave thoughtful, practical feedback that completely changed my plant selection for the better. This place is an amazing garden store! Great selection, very fair prices on the wide variety of well cared for plants. Tons of tools and equipment, even red wiggler worms, lady bugs and mantis eggs for your garden. The staff actually greet you unlike Home Depot. This particular nursery was a convenient stop while my friend & I were looking for things to do around town. I needed to see nature's beauty & I wanted him to stop & smell the flowers coz he''s Mr. Impatient (but I love him dearly). It's certainly not as expansive as Roger's Gardens in Costa Del Mar but it's fairly & neatly organized. Plenty if flowers & plants, some fruit-bearing ones but nothing exotic like Mimosa's. No one from the staff approached us if we were in need of assistance, luckily we didn't need any. It's nice & spacious, not many customers around on a warm sunny day. I just started exploring the Garden Centers out here, as I am new to California. This was a great introduction! I loved their variety of vivacious plants; from tropical, to more local floral beauties. I loved taking pictures of these vibrant rarities (to me, at least!) Their strawberry plants were quite healthy as well (shown in set.) I ended up getting a couple of pots at a great discount, and found some great glass holders for air plants. Absolutely NO customer service. I stood in the vegetable section looking for an employee to help me find tomatoes. There was one employee and she was following a customer around as she tried to decide on which color bowl she wanted. Really? They have personal shoppers here? You can only assist one customer at a time? I asked if she could direct me to the tomatoes and she said she would help me when she was done with this customer. You couldn't be bothered to call another employee over? After another 15 minutes or so standing in the hot sun, not a single employee approached me. I left furious. I won't be back. She asked me to email the picture, after an hour I received an email back explain to me what the problem is and a recommendation as to how to fix the problem. I love Armstrong Garden Center - Glendale. Great selection of perennials and annuals as well as fruit trees and garden ornaments. They have always been my go to place for bare root hybrid teas as their stock has stable strong roots ensuring great cut roses in future. I have also bought a few dwarf nectarines and apricot trees here which now matured and yields delicious fruits! On my recent visit I purchased a couple citrus trees, a kumquat and a dwarf Mexican lime tree, based on how they look, you can really tell that these trees were well cared for assuring a great start upon transplanting! Their price point is a few dollars higher than your Home Depot / Lowes plants but since they specialize in plants, you are almost assured of plant survival as they are given a good head start HOWEVER the rest depends on how you care for your crop and having the proper knowledge to care for your purchase - their friendly and knowledgeable staff are a great resource for proper plant care making sure you get to enjoy them for a very long time. read more

What a difference to go to a garden center with employees that are educated in plants! I came looking for specific succulents and a lavender plant. I was able to find one of my succulents and the employees helped me identify the specific lavender I was looking for and said they expected a new shipment this Thursday. I love their large selection! It's my fantasy garden around every corner. From house plants to outdoor plants and gardening supplies, this place is the place to go! They also have free gardening classes on certain Saturday's and I'm looking forward to trying them out! I definitely recommend this place! The process may be a little higher than places like Lowe's or Home Depot, but you are getting plants that are healthy and acclimated to the area...not just shipped in and up for sale until dead. read more

My rose buds were totally covered with aphids, black to green, wings to no wings. I sprayed neem oil several days to the point that it burned the leaves of my plants but the aphids were still there enjoying their happy life, infesting other plants and veggies. So I had to look for some ladybugs. Not so many stores have live ladybugs. After getting a cups (said appx. 750 bugs in it), I released them on my plants and only after 1 day, all the aphids on my roses were gone. Now I'm trying to move them to other more infested areas. Hopefully the aphids will completely be gone. read more

I was in search for orchids as a gift for a housewarming party. We first went to Armstrong then to Home Depot. Armstrong by far had better quality & value from all the different orchids that I saw. We went early on in the week and I returned the morning of the housewarming to buy a 2 orchid pot that was white with pink/red in the middle. The price was $29.99... It looked great. A nice young lady rang me up and informed me in less than an hour they had free hot dogs and drinks for customers. That was cool! The place was super busy on a Saturday and she had a great attitude about her. She even offered to shine up the leaves of the orchid that I had bought when she heard that it was a housewarming gift. I appreciated that. She even took some time to look for a wrap to put the pot in but she could not find any more. I was grateful for her effort. I recommend Armstrong Garden Centers in Glendale for the great gift I found there and the awesome customer service that came along with it. Parking is available in their private lot or along the side street. Saturday am was definitely waay busier than our trip there earlier in the week. read more

I bought an orange tree here a few months ago and planted it so the soil in the pot lined up with ground level, before I knew better (better to root wash first especially to check for errors by the nursery). I am now checking on my tree's roots and see that the planting of the tree in the nursery pot was catastrophically wrong. I've dug 6-8 inches into the dirt and still haven't found the root flare. This tree now needs to be dug up and replanted possibly a foot higher. Buyer beware... I give three stars because maybe other nurseries suck at this too. read more

SAFE - SECURE - SUPPORT! With the new 'normal' involving covid precautions, this location was great with safety measures. I definitely didn't feel any anxiety with our visit. Entire staff was helpful all while keeping socially distant. They've marked the floors with where you should wait in line however it seemed as those some customers didnt know where the line started, as they've also done a great job with spacing out from the queue line to the check out counter. There was a team member, constantly wiping down carts every time it was returned, also while controlling the number of customers who could enter. - Nothing seemed to have been overlooked with any safety measures. Hand sanitizer and wipes were also available for customer use. Thank you to the entire staff!!! Your care and awareness for everyone's safety, including your staff certainly speaks for itself.
