But this time, she came home and has been her normal, energized self. The staff is very kind, and understanding, and take the time to know your pup. I went in today for an orientation and a walk through at about 10AM. IMO, there were way too many dogs in each area. The dog rooms are small and dimly lit, and all connected, so the atmosphere is very loud. I was shocked at how many large dogs were in such a small area. As we walked through with the staff, a fight broke out between two dogs. Others joined in because there was no where to go. One staff in the room for about 20-25 large dogs. No wonder. There is simply not enough room for the number and size of dogs in that space. I would never leave my dog there.

I left him on vacation for four days once, and even though my roommate was home, Crow meowed himself hoarse and lost weight while I was gone. He was only 5.5 lbs to start with, so we couldn't have him lose more. The next time I had to leave, Anne dropped in on him each day to play with him and make sure he was getting adequate amounts of his prescription food. He loved her, and I swear her weighed more when I got home! No hoarseness, and he's at happily on her lap when we were following up on how he had been. I know she has cats of her own, and she really does have a gift for making them happy. I can't thank her enough for the care and love she gave Crow!

We purchased both of our labs from Jeff La Tour at Elk River Kennels and they are the best dogs…read more Also, he trained both of them for hunting and retrieving and basic obedience; both are wonderfully trained. On Oct. 1, 2020, Erin DeMars made FALSE allegations of abuse against La Tour and Elk River Kennels. She stated that her bulldog Olive had blood all over it and was bleeding when she picked it up. In Nov. 2020, a district court Judge determined that DeMars' statements were fabricated and grossly exaggerated. The judge issued a restraining order against Erin DeMars to stop her defamation against the La Tours and their business, Elk River Kennels. Be sure that this is a very reputable dog trainer and your dog will be well cared for while staying at Elk River Kennels. We board our dogs here too when we go on vacation and they've never had any issues.
