Two good things from here: the Customer Service and their Chicago Dog. I ordered the Chicago Dog Combo, includes fries and a drink. I also ordered the loose hamburger (think sloppy joe without the sauce). And added a tamale. The service was great. Super friendly, easy to understand, helpful. I used the drive-thru and it was quick and efficient and their menu is easy to read. The tamale is just awful. Meat covered in breading. Nothing like a tamale. Don't get this! The loose hamburger tasted way too salty! Not sure if you can ask for no salt or less salt, but it was just terrible. The bun was also cold. Who gives cold buns with hot food? It makes McDonald's hamburgers taste like a top of the line burger! Do not waste time on this. And - when it says loose, they do mean, loose. It's messy! The Chicago Dog was the only thing I actually enjoyed. It wasn't as sloppy as some places. Maybe too much mustard, but otherwise, everything was good and went well together. The hot dogs are smaller than I remember, but still decent. The french fries though - awful. Just soggy and tasteless. I remember Arnie's to have decent crispy french fries. But if you like the soggy ones - here you go! I won't be going back - it's not worth a trip just for a hot dog when there are better options around. I came here yesterday and ordered two sausage pizza puffs, and an order of mozzarella sticks. The sausage pizza puffs were very very salty. These are the same pizza puffs that you can get at dollar tree for $1.25. But they tasted overly salty. The mozzarella sticks were good. Service was good. Drive thru was quick. read more

Negative issues: ordered double-dog and polish. We both took 2 bites and the taste was awful. Poorly made, ton of relish, onions, and mustard, buns fell apart...after scraping off condiments, meat still tasted bad. We trashed food after 3 bites. Cola was somewhat flat. This Review is for Thursday October 15, 2020. so today we did not have such a great experience as the last 4 or 5 times that we have been hear. Honestly not sure if they have new employees or if their is some sort of an issue with serving food here with portion wise. I usually give 5 starts for service and food based on portions, flavor, and etc. Today we ordered the following: 1 order of chili cheese tator tots 1 order of the shrimp basket 2 orders of beef sandwiches 2 orders of funnel fries 2 orders of corn dogs So the funnel fries were on spot as they should be. The shrimp basket is as we had expected it to be for fast food, not a bit issues but it is fast food establishment so we should not have expected anything great. The corn dogs were not great, but not bad either. The problem was with the chili cheese fries, I am unsure if we maybe got someone else's order they did not want or what because when you see the picture I took, it looked as if the chili was sitting out as it looked dry, sadly not as flavorful as it has always been when we would order a chili dog. Our beef sandwich were not dipped what so ever, they were 100% dry, and the meat portion was very stingy for what we payed for. Te last 5 times we had been their they dipped the bread / sandwich and it was all flavorful, the meat portion was nice too, but not sure what happen with our order this time, I am honestly unsure if we will be back after this issue. Don't get me wrong as I love Arnie's and have been coming here since I was a kid. True, I don't like hot dogs and can't say anything about the quality there as I would get stuff like pizza puffs, a fish sandwich, and chili cheese fries. What I liked kept me coming back. My gripe with Arnie's is how they do carry out in the evenings. I have "lunch" for my terrible job at 8:10pm and Arnie's closes their doors at 8pm but still allows drive thru service up until 9, which you're stupidly supposed to pick up your carryout at. That's fine and dandy, a clear adjustment due to Covid. During lockdown I put up with calling ahead and sitting through a couple cars taking up the majority of my lunch time in the drive thru but in 2023 won't tolerate that nonsense. The other day I called and placed a solid order at 8:10 and told them that I would be five to ten minutes, which I was. As I arrived there were six to seven cars deep in the drive thru. Am I expected to sit through all of those cars, who may or may not have ordered and could be waiting for their orders when my order should be ready? That's preposterous. I walk up to the locked doors and the workers just stare at me like I'm supposed to wait who knows how long for an order that I placed 5 to ten minutes ago. There were no signs of anyone coming to give me any kind of customer service, I'm just expected to chill in a parade of cars. It's beyond stupid. So I called and said "I'm not waiting behind six cars. Cancel my order". How is that a business decision that dumb justified? I have wasted so much of my lunch breaks for their broken carry out system. Well never again. If I have a taste for Arnie's I'll try somewhere else and just hope that Arnie's goes back to logical practices. read more

My second trip to Munster to pick up my grandson, on our way home he asked for a chili dog(he's been here before) I must say they serve an awesome "Chicago Dog" and they include French fries. The lowest grade of fast food you can ever eat. Ground beef served as a hamburger plus a frozen chicken patty for a chicken sandwich and probably the only thing that was okay to eat was their fry's and even them were bad. Made a quick stop in here on our way out town in the late afternoon today. My craving for tater tots was satisfied! It was so delicious with chili and cheese on top. Plenty of chili (enough that my husband dumped his fries into my bowl to consume the remainder after I'd finished the tots). I also had a delightful corn dog. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his hot dog, which I think was a Chicago dog. I honestly don't remember because I was too busy enjoying my chili cheese tots. I love this place. Their dogs are excellent (and sold only with fries included) and the whole building is very branded in customized art. I felt their prices were a little high for their hot dogs. Keep in mind that they sell Vienna beef hot dogs like most places. If one is going to sell something that you can get other places then you should be market price friendly. If you're going to charge more then make it purposeful with added items to the meal like a pickle spear or something. The food is good but you can get Vienna beef hot dogs most anywhere. I've been coming to the Whiting location since I was 13 years old, I'm 69 now! I live in Porter county now but I still go to Arnie's every time I go to Whiting, and Whenever I go to Hammond or near there I make a point to stop at the store in Munster on Calumet Ave. The food is still outstanding and the prices are reasonable. I recently spoke to Arnie's son while at the restaurant, his Dad has retired to Florida now. I have even made many trips there just to get bags full of Arnie's Polish. The service is quick, efficient, and friendly. Their all beef hot dog is good, but everything does not include tomato, pickle spear,or celery salt. The fries were crispy and tasted really good. The fried pickles were fantastic. They are not too salty or sour and the batter is perfectly crispy. We would definitely eat there again. read more
