Tucked into the corner of a strip mall, it's not very attractive inside and has a very plain, basic atmosphere, which can get really loud, especially if you're entertaining guests. We took my mother there to celebrate her 84th birthday and had a party of about 20 people. The side room we occupied was too dark for my liking. The employees were nice. As for the food, Rosebud Steakhouse is known for its steaks, and the 13-plus people in our group who ordered steak said they were good. However, one steak did have to be sent back because it was overcooked. I ordered the chicken sandwich, crab cake, macaroni, and broccoli on the side. The macaroni and chicken were oversalted, the broccoli was over-peppered, and the crab cake was undercooked. I packed my food up and took it home, where it ended up sitting in the garage. I thought I had already reviewed this restaurant and would have to update my review. These folks need to get it together. We took my sister in law here for her birthday. We were seated on time and then everything went down from there. It took over an hour from when we ordered to get our food. My brick chicken had been sitting under a heater too long and was no longer served with asparagus. See my previous photo from 2 years ago. My husbands chicken calabrese was rubbery. My SIL's chicken Parmesan's breading fell off. Our server was too busy with 2 large parties and we were neglected. Not really his fault as he was left overwhelmed. Other employees stood around chatting with a couple seated next to us rather than assisting waitstaff who obviously needed help. The other tables had birthdays and they sang to them. They didn't sing to my sister in law. The manager took $20 off of our $250 bill for the inconvenience after my mother in law spoke to her regarding the wait. My husband was a server for 9 years at a busy restaurant during high school and college and was livid. We left incredibly disappointed. Rosebud The worst dinner experience I can remember. The server, Pam, was good. That's the end of the good. The food? Garbage. The crowd inside? Much worse. Nothing but ghetto, entitled trash bags. Rosebud caters to them and encourages it. Table of 4 next to us was loud as hell. Big Bertha with a Lilo & Stitch shirt on, playing videos on her phone with the volume all the way up. Scumbag dude next to her sat with his chair out in the middle of the aisle, on his phone the entire time. Seriously, check the photos. He sat like that the whole time. On his phone. Not one ounce of respect for the public. And they let this happen. Grandma and grandpa scumbag sat there b*tching up a storm about everything. Rosebud allowed it to happen. They comped most of their bill (after they licked the plate clean, of course) Scumbag in the middle of the aisle tipped $15 (shocker, right?) on the $210 bill that was left. And he made a big scene about it too: "here this is for you!" Rosebud caters to these idiots. Dude was in his ripped up jeans which are expressly prohibited on the website and sign by the door, but can't yell at them or it'll be a fiasco. Trash. If it was me who dressed and acted like that, I would be told to correct it. Guess it doesn't apply to all. Then the food: The "bread" they offered was comical. Cheap, oily grocery store Hawaiian bread (in the 4-piece format) with Kraft Parmesan sprinkled on top. A place that charges $9 for a piece of shrimp should offer real bread. The mashed potatoes were decent and chunky, which I enjoy, but they destroyed them with garbage bread crumbs and whatever else. And really they were no better than a 13 year old could make at home. Trash. The steak? Dogfood. It tasted like bonfire ash. I wanted the cowboy ribeye but of course they were out of it--shocker. I went with the dry-aged Kansas City. The inside was alright. Cooked medium but I'll live with that; nowhere knows how to cook a steak anymore. Flavor from dry-aging was there, sort of. But the char overpowered everything. It was horrible. Not good char, straight up bonfire char. My girlfriend tried it and said the same. Even our server agreed it smelled horrible. Pathetic for $40, let alone $70+. I make a better steak at home while sick with the flu and blindfolded. And not to mention, my girlfriend wanted a mojito. They were out of mint. Not the end of the world but in the aggregate, from a place that wants to act like a fine Chicago steakhouse, it's annoying. RPM & Bavette's don't run out of mint. Don't act like those places if you are clearly not close. Charge $9 for a piece of shrimp, you should have mint. But this pales in comparison to the other failures. The spicy mule was good..... Overall the worst dining experience I could imagine. Stay far, far away from this place. It's only getting worse by the look of it. *had to come back to edit for comedic purposes. Rosebud is a great place that adds a fine dining establishment to the neighborhood. Overall, I was very impressed by the caliber of the food and the service. Most importantly, I find that often times, food can be overseasoned or outright salty. This place kept the delicate balance of having enough flavor in the meat but not oversalting to the point of wiping away the taste. In addition, the ambiance was just the right balance between feeling fancy but not stuffy. The sides were also great and I thought the portions were adequate so that you were full but also had enough to bring home. Cocktails are great too! read more

I went to Rose bud's to treat myself to a solo date on Sunday 07/13/25. Everything was great! Service, cocktails and the bartender referred me to the filet mignon lollipops which were amazing! However for my entree I ordered the salmon piccata. It was ok, but I got violently sick afterwards. I was vomiting from 11p-4a I vomited approximately 14xs. Something about the salmon was off and it got me very sick! I contacted them the following day, they told me they'll contact corporate and get back with me. I haven't heard anything since! Great hostess, wonderful staff, damn good ambiance, oysters were pretty damn fresh (a treat NWI), cocktails were really tasty. The led to the two stars. Everything else was mediocre and overpriced (a chicago steakhouse, this isn't). Shrimp cocktail was fine but calling the cocktail sauce atomic is laughable, chicken parm was flat, chicago cut ribeye was way too damn charted and covered in seasoning, spinach floating in garlic, mashed potatoes flavorless. I applaud the effort of this place existing and trying to save us 30 minutes from driving to Bavettes, but it is not the same. Perhaps it was the chef/cooks on duty on a Friday night? read more

Was in the area for an extended family member's birthday again. Compared to the last steakhouse I went to in the area (see my other reviews), Rosebud was amazing! The service from the beginning to the end was fantastic. Everyone was super kind, and professional, and oh man the food! Not a single person had a complaint about their food, and when you have a party of 10, that feels pretty rare. I got the Delmonico Ribeye, and not only was it cooked to perfection, seasoning was spot on. The quality of the steaks was top notch as well. The restaurant definitely has a more modern steakhouse vibe to it, and not that old school dimly lit dungeon feel that some other older steakhouses have. We absolutely loved the dining experience here, and will keep it in mind the next time we all come to the area to visit family! read more

Terrible experience tonight. My service was great but the food not so much. My family frequents Rosebud in Munster. In fact I took 13 people to dinner on my birthday 2 weeks ago and we had an enjoyable experience. However tonight the steaks were lacking in flavor and served cold. We order truffles butter with the steak which came cold in a big lump in a separate container next to our cold mushy steaks. I'm not sure what the point of truffle butter is if it's served cold in a separate dish. Honestly, I can make a much better steak and more favorable on top of my stove at home. Needless to say, I was very disappointed as this is an unusual experience at Rosebud. I decided to share my concerns with our waitress, who was excellent by the way, that we were not satisfied with our 2 steaks. At this point only one steak has been cut and the other one remained untouched. She said she understood and would inform the Chief about our concern and would have the second steak removed from our bill. We waited for an extended time for a response and finally a manager showed up at the table. Without apologizing, he told me that he could not remove the untouched steakfrom our bill despite what we have been told by our waitress prior. This suggested to me that normally the waitress is authorized to make this type of decision, but that the manager was not willing to honor it. I told the manager perhaps the chef should try or examine the untouched steak to evaluate it. By just looking at the steak you could tell that it had not been properly cooked. Instead, it looked like something that had been baked in an oven and then left sitting around before being served. However, after waiting for over 15 minutes a manager finally arrived at our table to tell us that he could not help us and that we would be charged for both steaks dispute our dissatisfaction. I was very disappointed. We literally had just spent $1400.00 just 2 weeks ago at this very resturant. In fact in the past Rosebud in Munster, IN is a restaurant that my family and I frequent regularly. I hope this is something that will not be continued. We don't have very many steakhouses in the area and Rosebud has been the very best option for quality food up until now. Recently dined here for a birthday celebration. We had the petite fillet, delmonico rib eye, chicken parmigiana and chicken calabrese all were very good along with sides that were generous portions. But my reason for 4 stars as we were asked by the server if we wanted water. He gave two choices (spring or sparkling) I didn't know tap water was nit a choice. Buyer beware- 2 bottles of spring water $9 ea. These servers are trained to push the bill higher. This was a turn off. Plus we asked for rum/coke and the waiter responded we don't have that drink. My roommate decided he wanted to celebrate his birthday at a Steakhouse since he recently just started eating red meat again. This whole establishment did not disappoint! Steaks were perfect and the spicy jalapeño mule was a great before dinner cocktail. I laughed at the thought of ordering Mac and cheese here but holy chedda was it fabulous. Bit of a downtown after hours ambiance. The place was full for a Wednesday evening which made it a little hard to carry a conversation at the table but this wasn't a bad thing since this allowed me to mingle with the awesome people around me. That's really my cup of tea so I'll definitely toast to that. Everyone around us was celebrating either a birthday or anniversary and it truly set a great vibe. I have to majorly shout out the staff because they really do go above and beyond the call of duty, hardly noticed the understaffing issue, except that I was seated almost directly in front of the kitchen door and being a process person, you notice these things. So shout out to them for a phenomenal dining experience. I saw upper management continuously step in to help or compliment staff on doing a good job. Always love to see this! *I would like to nominate Juan as MVP because he was the epitome of an all around team member.* Excited for their Windy City Social place to open, I'm sure this will get some of those overly excited drinking locals to move their party over to a more bar like setting. I stopped in here August 3, 2024 for dinner. Having previously been in Rome in July I had a taste for one of the 4 renown pasta dishes from there. Dinner began with very greasy rolls being delivered to the table. My suggestion is just give out very good bread and if I want olive oil or butter on my bread than I can put it on myself. Also, a sure bet at Rosebud's is the steaks. I ordered a filet and as usual it was outstanding. I also ordered Roman cacio e pepe which could only be described as a greasy mess. It as soo greasy and cheesy with no pan fried bits of guanciale or guanciale flavor. It tasted more like pancetta was used which is a big no no in Rome. It looked more like an Italian/American fettuccine than cacio e pepe. In Rome it's more about balancing out the flavors with just the right amount of each. While I did not grab the best of pics this time around the restaurant is definitely a stand out addition to the area and should not be missed. Great variety of options on the menu. We ordered the wet aged Ribeye, Chicken Parmesan and Roasted Salmon for main plates. Sides are shareable for the table. There was a creamed spinach special which was the best I've had in a good while. The restaurant has all the standout traditional steakhouse side dishes you would expect and each of them did not miss. Husband and I stopped here without a reservation on a Sunday night, first timers. Sat at the bar and it was not over crowded in the restaurant. Parking was still a little tight as it is shared. Bathrooms were nice, the place is new so that helped. The ambiance is on the fancy side but no so much so that you need to dress up but certainly can and wont feel out of place either way. Bartender Jules was great! Gave recommendations on menu items. Full bar which is always nice. We eyeballed the dishes as they came out of the kitchen. I settled on the Filet Trio and my husband the Chicago ribeye. Sides were the cauliflower smothered in cheese and the brussels sprouts. He loved his ribeye and it was cooked the way he liked it. My trio was more than enough for me, it came with a small helping of mashed potatoes. Husband was skeptical of the cauliflower but dug in and claimed he enjoyed it. Both sides were delicious and we brought some of everything home. Everyone there was friendly. Since we were sitting at the bar, employees were working behind the bar grabbing their drinks and such so an occasional Hello or asking if we needed anything was appreciated. Customers at tables that we salivated over their food were nice, passing along their recommendations as well. I asked the bartender if reservations were needed and she advised if the weekend for sure but during the week it was a toss up. Hidden gem. My first time at this steakhouse so I felt obligated to order a steak. I went with the petite fillet. Medium since I'm not a fan of seeing red on my plate. I understand this makes it difficult to get a tender and tasty steak. BUT the chef did it! I was very happy with my steak. If you or someone you love is handicap Read this before going. Recently went here with a couple of buddies for a late lunch. I need a walker to walk and sit in. Getting out of a regular chair is very difficult. We were seated in the dining room and I sat in my walker at the table, the restaurant had only about 10 people in it as it was 3 o clock in the afternoon. We were handed dinner menus by the hostess. My friend who is a regular there asked for the bar menus. We were informed that you have to be seated in the bar to order off of the bar menus . Okay, no problem. I asked if they had low top tables in the bar because I can not physically sit at a high top table. The hostess said No, they only have high top tables. I explained to her that I can't physically sit at a high top , and could we please just sit were we were already seated. She said No because the computer knows where you are sitting. Read that again. Did I mention there were only about 8 people in the restaurant. I asked if she could ask the manager to make an exception for me as I physically cannot sit at a high top table. She rolled her eyes and said she'd check but the computer knows where you're sitting. She was back in less than 2 minutes and said....anyone want to guess?...No because the computer knows where you're sitting. So I didn't want my friends not be able to get what they had come here for so I said Fine and went and sat in the bar area in my walker with my forehead pressed up against the high top table like a baby at the big table at Thanksgiving. Obviously I couldn't eat as I would have had to use my lap as my table. Needless to say our afternoon was ruined. You know you think there'd be a law about treating people with handicaps this way...oh right, there is. The single loudest restaurant I have ever experienced. We were literally shouting at each other. We were originally going to stay for dessert, but left because we all had headaches. It was freezing, in fact, one of our guests wore their winter coat the entire time we were dining. The service was absolutely terrible. We had to ask for butter four times, and drinks twice. We don't mind paying a premium price for a great experience...but if you are going to charge $70 for a steak /no sides then it should at the very least be comfortable. My brother invited me to come out with the family for an Easter brunch and the place of choice, Rosebud Steakhouse. I don't get out to Indiana often to eat food, so I was excited when I saw it was a steakhouse. The ambiance is charming; located in somewhat of a strip mall area, but Rosebud has its location. Everyone was dressed very nicely, of course, because it was Easter. The wait staff looked professional and wore bunny ears for the theme. My family started with mimosas and wine. I kept it simple and got some water. I will note that I was originally given dirty glass, which was quickly replaced. I would suggest giving glasses a second whip down after they come out of the dishwasher. Those that read my reviews know that I am a lover of steak, so once I saw all of the options, I could not wait. For the Easter celebration and I also think for just in general, all of the items on the menu come à la carte, which made the meal very expensive. Things like baked potatoes and asparagus were $10 on their own on top of whatever steak or entrée item you get will be over $30, so be prepared. Our food was delicious. My niece got the hamburger which she thoroughly enjoyed after they took the cheese off. My sister-in-law Got the crab bandit, a brunch item she also loved. My mother-in-law got the exquisite lamb chops, and she enjoyed them and even took one of them to go because it was a good amount of food. My sister and brother-in-law both got variations of the salmon, one with asparagus and the other topped with avocado, which they both loved. I got the Chicago-style bone-in rib-eye side of Asparagus and a baked potato. I asked for it to be medium well, and I feel it came well done, which wasn't a significant issue. The steak itself was pretty good. I would've liked to be more juicy and hot, but I understand because they were busy. The baked potato was fine, and the asparagus was cooked well. I think the only thing I was missing was a bit more flavor and seasoning. Overall it was a great experience with the family, and if you are in the area and got a bit more money to spend, Rosebud isn't a wrong choice. 4 out of 5 read more

I wanted their ribeye, but I had the option of either the filet or rack of lambs. I really don't like filet so I got the lamb chops. It turned out to be pretty good. It wasn't smelly at all. Not even the fat was smelly. The crab cakes were good and really like the salad. The restaurant is modern. Even though it was crowded, the service was excellent. The hostess promptly sat me at a two top and my server, Pam, grabbed my drink and brought me the regular menu and the menu with the specials. When she described the specials, I knew immediately that I wanted the ribeye cap steak. The steak was very good at first but got really salty. I had eaten about half of it...I let my server know and she asked if I wanted something else. I said no, the hostess came by and asked the same thing...I paid and left. The cut of meat was beautiful, cooked perfectly but a $73 steak should be perfect....the restaurant was very loud, service was excellent but I just didn't get a great steak. We decided to try out Rosebud on Valentines Day of all days. We made a 5:30 reservation and were sat promptly at 5:30. Our server was awesome. They have a large wine list but no cocktail menu but our server suggested she would bring me something tasty. I decided to take a blind leap and try it. It was tasty and was a good start to the evening. We started with a half dozen oysters. They were small but very tasty. Next came the salads. I had the Caesar and the GF had the chopped both good. The meat course arrived a petite rare filet for the GF and a ribeye for myself. Both cooked perfectly topped with herb butter. The shared sides were cauliflower augratin and the Mac and cheese both excellent options. Finally we got to dessert. The carrot cake was unreal. Warm and sweet and everything you want in a carrot cake. The downfalls are parking in the lot is getting brutal as this area gets more popular. Also the place is very loud. But the reason for the three stars is, I really didn't like my steak and I thought it would've been rude to have said so tonight, so I took it home but for a steak place that has to be the draw... the sides were far better than the steak. Other *tiny* little thing is, if you order the Caesar salad either ask for the dressing on the side or light on the dressing, mine was a little soggy and was missing the shaved cheese, so it was damp lettuce.
