Best pizza ever! For the number of years we've been coming to Lafayette, I've heard nothing but rave reviews from my wife about how good Arni's pizza is and about their awesome salads. Unfortunately, on the occasions in which we ordered pizza, it came from Pizza King. This time was different, however, and we actually went to the restaurant and I was treated to some of the best pizza I have ever tasted. The brick oven baked, thin crust pizza was amazing. We ordered the deluxe, cheese, and pepperoni and sausage pizzas. Piled with meats and veggies, each one was cooked to perfection. I could not get enough of the deluxe, and my two kids nearly ate a whole large alone! Also, the tossed salad with blue cheese was the perfect appetizer before the main course. Arni's has now been around for 50 years (1965-2015), and I hope it's around for 50 more! read more

Arnis Quality has been going downhill for years! From the ingredients used to the service! We have decided to never eat there again. The final straw after numerous carry out order mistakes and nasty tasting pizza and not so fresh Arnis Junior. I think people eat there mostly because of nostalgia. The taste that kept people coming back has changed. The service is lacking. We won't be meeting at Arnis' or using their carry out after being a customer for over 50 years. Was in town for work and this place was recommended by some friends. A little skeptical about going for pizza when it seems like there are so many good middle eastern places I decided to trust their advice and am SO glad! The pizza was wonderful! I got a 10 inch with the gluten free crust and you would never have known the crust was gf. The pepperoni was crumbled with the perfect amount and the pizza was just plain old fantastic. read more

Washing the lettuce for the salads and keeping food at proper temps so that when we get home an hour later we aren't in the bathroom all night would be wonderful. Proper staffing levels, such as only two people in the kitchen and one overwhelmed server in the loading dock would help on a Saturday afternoon. Additionally, very rude and ignorant lady in the kitchen and a manager that wouldn't give her name when there was an issue in the waiting area with another customer. Never again! The original Arnis!!!! I love coming back into town to get an Arnis Jr. or just pizza in general. The pizza and salads are so addicting and unlike anything else you'll ever have! I remember coming here on Friday nights growing up and sitting in the toy room. I always have great memories here. And writing this review I seriously want a Stromboli! That is by far my favorite thing! It's crunchy yet soft Italian bread covered with crumbles spicy sausage and pepperoni with their awesome cheese and tomato sauce. Came here while in town. The servers were very friendly. We sat in the loading dock and it was very cool. Clean space. The food came out quick, everything was correct. The salad was fantastic. The pizza was pretty greasy but tasty. The cheese sticks weren't really special but we came for the pizza and salad which were both amazing. read more

Now celebrating its fiftieth year Mr. Cohen's establishment boasts multiple dinning rooms, an attached bar, and a very healthy carry out trade. You won't find a clunker on the menu but I suggest you give special attention to the thin crust Chicago cut pizzas and/or the salads (especially the deceptively-named "Arni's Jr." or the Caesar). read more

The pizza here is so good and addictive. I've made my parents ship it out to me in California, and I hear that Axl Rose does the same thing. The pasty tomato sauce, the perfectly flexible thin crust, and the copious, finely chopped toppings... It's a lot like Pizza King, but less crude. The strombolis are not as good as the Pizza King in Delphi, which has the best stromboli on the planet (whatever that's worth). Only the Texas BBQ here has any zest. read more

My husband and I visited recently - he is a fan of Arni's since he used to live in Lafayette. We were seated in an awesome dining room that was decorated with retro children's toys and other stuff. We ordered a lot as it was a vacation and we'd be taking leftovers with us for our drive home. We had delicious cheesy garlic bread, stuffed mushrooms, I had a salad, and my husband had a small pizza. Everything was great, and my husband was pleasantly surprised with the mushrooms as he thought he wouldn't like them because he's not a big fan of large mushrooms. Our server did a great job, especially at keeping our drinks filled. Now, I think our experience could have been a lot different if we had sat at the older main dining room - the one we sat at once before when we visited town. That dining room was ugly and cramped. I couldn't quite tell if it was still that way or not, but if it is, it's like there's two different restaurants using the same building which just so happen to serve the same menu. Update: The main dining room was remodeled and is very comfortable now, just not as cool as the other room. ;) read more

This is one of the best restaurants in town for families and groups of friends. They are famous for their pizza (which I don't care for), but they also have terrific salads and sandwiches. Steer clear of most of the open-faced sandwiches, though. In my experience, they range from bland to burned. The restaurant has two main sections, plus an adjacent bar. My favorite section is the "toy room", where the walls are decorated with nostalgic toys, comic books, baseball cards, and more. This area is non-smoking. This room closes earlier than the others, though I'm not sure exactly what time. The other main room is decorated with photographs of notable Lafayette landmarks. This room allows smoking and serves drinks from the bar. It is open later than the toy room. read more

I'm new to the area, and new to old established places with great food at great prices. I was sent on a mission to KFC, but as we discovered the local chicken place closed, so we made the decision to try Arni's. I was delighted by the friendly service at the take out counter! I wanted an Italian Beef (I love Chicago style), and I ordered the closest thing. The boss wanted a big cobb salad. The food was delivered to my very comfortable waiting area promptly, and I was delighted by the customer service. My sandwich was great! It wasn't chicago style, but that's okay we're in Indiana! Arnis Lafayette Elmwood really sucks! I ordered sausage and mushroom pizzas there three times and they put maybe ten tiny slices of mushroom on a large pizza despite the fact that I complained in advance each time while placing my phone order. The FINAL TIME, I watched them pull my pizza out of the oven--same thing. I said hey put some mushrooms on that if Im paying for the extra topping. The elderly lady at the counter responded very harshly to me and REFUSED. Then she told me "You can leave without it" WOW!! That's not consistent with the customer service I've practiced in my several years of business. You suck lady and so does Arnis. read more

My all-time favorite eatery. I've lived all over the country, but whenever I visit my hometown of Lafayette I MUST stop at Arni's. (My family jokes I visit to go to Arni's, not to see them.) I love their Arni's Junior Salad and pizzas. Nobody has a crust like Arni's, or that incredible salty greasy ground pepperoni. I enjoy their pizza's. Mostly the thin crust pepperoni. The pepperoni is not traditionally sliced. Instead it looks like it has been shredded in to small bits. Very tasty! Their salads are also very tasty....and normally large. I tend to make it a Jr. sized portion. The pizza is great and the service is as well. However, do not order the BBQ Buckaroo. It is a few very thin slices of deli meat on two slabs of bread and drenched in way to much bbq. The meat tasted weird and the bread was soggy from the bbq. Couldn't finish the meal it was too gross. read more

I usually only write reviews to steer people clear of awful places, but a hometown classic like Arni's deserves a review calling it the best there is. Arni's has been around Lafayette since I was growing up. My parents used to take me and my brother there when I was a kid. After I moved away years later and would bring my wife and kids home to see the extended family it was always a point to bring my kids there. Now that I'm semi-retired and spend a few months a year all the way back where I started I my son and I take my grandkids there when they visit. They have a wide menu of burgers and pseudo Italian favorites, but the pizza is what it is about. it's crispy crust but much hardier in toppings than you usually expect for thinner crust. We always have and always will order smalls and everyone can get their own with their choice of toppings (you want the sausage and pepperoni, not sure what it is but somehow their pepperoni and sausage is different better than anywhere else). for the kids it's enough to take a box home and have at least one more lunch out of (probably two depending on exact age and if they're at a growth spurt). For me as a fat old man I love nothing more than going for the challenge of eating it all in one sitting. Amazingly my mother never gets the pizza though (in my entire life i don't think I've ever seen her get it). She always gets Arni's junior salad, which is a meal in itself and is basically the biggest the chef's salad you've ever seen. It comes in a larger "senior salad" version too. But that is just huge. My wife these days gets it as well, and sometimes my daughter. I have had. It is good. But when my wife tries to tell me to think about my health and have a salad I double down and get myself a large deluxe pizza so i have some to bring home and prove a point anout trying to deny me my favorite pizza. Maybe I'm sentimental and biased, but in my time I've lived in over a dozen states, and four overseas countries, and visited many many more. I've never found a better pizza. If you think you have, well, I don't know what to say other than that your flat our wrong. read more

We went there for a Saturday lunch. It appears the previous reviews of this place split between extremely good and extremely bad. We were curious if the food will be good or, greasy and salty, like several mentioned. The front desk girl was very nice. She briefly introduced the different dining rooms and asked us where we want to sit. The waiter was fine. We ordered delux pizza and Arni's junior salad. The pizza is thin crust, like many mentioned before. So I guess this is purely a personal preference if you like it. We liked it. The toppings are chopped fine, another personal preference. We found it tasteful and evenly spread. The salad has fair amount of cheese and ham but in our opinion, not overly heavy. It was a good salad. The food were not greasy nor salty to our standard. They have several dining rooms decorated very fun. We sat in the Toy room. There were several large groups with kids and the room was not noisy at all. I assume it is helpful that the room is divided into sections by shelfs. Overall we like this place. read more

Well, how about that: my first one-star review. We stopped at Arni's for dinner while travelling back home. When we got there the parkling lot was almost empty and you could see only one party seated in the dining area, but hey, it was 8:15 on a Sunday night. The sign on the door said the dining room was open until 9pm and carry-out counter until 9:30, so we figured we were good. There was nobody at the hostess station, again not suprising late on Sunday, but there were 3-4 employees talking behind the carry-out counter and it sounded like someone called back for the hostess when we walked in. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more, while the employees continued to chat behind the counter the entire time. After four minutes I told my wife that it pretty obvious they weren't going to bother to seat us we might as well find another place to eat. She said the pizza smelled pretty good so we should give them a bit longer, so we waited another 2-3 minutes before she gave up hope, too. So we walked out, feet away from multiple employees (who were still chatting away). Nobody ever bothered to say a single word to us. The irony of it all was that my wife and I had gone out of our way to try patronize a non-national chain that we had never ate at. Yet after being shunned at Arni's, that's exactly what we ended up at. And--imagine this--they actually seated us, correctly took our order and prepared our food as requested. Oh, well. Arni's is an important local cultural experience, right up there with the Frozen Custard. I grew up in Lafayette and enjoy Arni's pizza when I come back to visit. I am well-travelled and enjoy a range of pizza types and styles, including Arni's thin crust with its finely-chopped toppings. If you don't like thin crust pizza, try one of their sandwiches or salads. Their meat pizzas are my favorites. I like their garlic bread and the Arni's Jr salad is a local favorite. The Toy Room and the Loading Dock bar are amazing 1970s interior spaces. I was disappointed to have to sit in the bland, newly remodeled front room on my last visit, but the food was still good. My only complaint is that they don't have many good vegetarian options. read more

The service is always slow, the pizza is way too greasy, never been a fan of thin crust pizza's (especially ones with too much salt on the crust), also the waitress's seriously need to brush up on their people skills! The salads were also a bitter disgrace, I mean come on that thing was mostly meat and cheese. I won't set foot in this place if I could ever help it. My wife and her family love this place and I honestly don't know why. Thin pizza crust more like a cracker than anything resembling dough. The sauce here is closer to ketchup with salt dumped in it seriously offensively sweet and salty at the same time with no real flavor. When I Order pepperoni or sausage on a pizza I don't need it prechewed for me slices are fine thanks . Square slices are just wrong as well . The salads are gigantic.....yep that's all I can say about them. This place is a Lafayette institution and a trip here really is complete without a visit however if you don't buy into sentimentality by a totinos it's cheaper and same quality . 2 stars are for the kids .... This place should be on the historic register of restaurants in Lafayette. Arni's is a staple of the area and has been around forever. It's a place that hasn't deviated from it's pizza recipe EVER. You go to Arni's and you know what you're going to get: slightly thin pizza sauced with tomatoey yumminess and loaded with what ever you like on top. My favorite is the deluxe. This stuff is so good that I've got friends who bring it back home on airplanes (and Arni's can ship as well). My kids like it. I like it. I don't know what it is about this place. It's like all the negatives combine into a positive. You walk into the place and the first thing you see is the takeout pizza counter with a bunch of guys making pizza and sliding them into ovens in a mesmerizing display nothing short of ballet. The pizza is made on pre-fab dough circles slathered with tomato sauce, seasoned cheese, and toppings right to the edge. The pepperoni is ground and as greasy as it gets. The subs have thin slices of ham, bologna and salami piled high with mozzarella cheese. (Arni's used to be affiliated with the Pizza King chain, but broke away and have their own regional chain of restaurants, yet retained the same style of pizza and subs.) But this place sells more salads than pizzas! The Arni's Jr. Salad is a a local legend. Chopped iceberg lettuce piled with cubed ham and turkey, sliced radishes, green onion, and more of the same mozzarella cheese they pile on the pizzas. Your choice of dressing served on the side as it should be. What sets Arni's apart from many similar pizza joints is the expanded menu that includes a selection of open face sandwiches, one of its well-kept secret offerings. The place also has legendary service and waitresses work there for years because of the good pay, good tips, and good benefits offered by the management. There are three dining areas. The family dining room has been recently remodeled. A second dining area is decorated with old toys and is a fun place to take kids. The third dining area is a bar. The place is always busy and always crowded. You can find a lot not to like about this place, but it's also a great experience and in the end, you won't be disappointed. read more
