The food was excellent but the service was absolutely exceptional. My sandwich came out initially a little bit cooler than I would've liked, but I asked them and they heated it up perfectly and it tasted so delicious. They checked on us to see how we were doing multiple times my daughter had a spill on the floor and they were very gracious and kind about cleaning it up for us. This is an excellent place to eat, kind staff and I don't think that they get enough credit for the effort they put into it. We have to give people the opportunity. I could see the team working like clockwork making sure they were quick to respond and make sure everyone was being taken care of. McAlisters can be busy during the lunch and dinner hours so it isn't exactly fast. However, we visited at an off time after the dinner crowd and got our food within about five minutes or so. The food tastes good and portions are decent. They have a large selection of items to choose from including sandwiches/salads/soups and spuds. The spuds are potatoes that are baked and can be loaded up with a large array of toppings. The inside of my potato was nice and soft but the skin was dry and hard like it had been sitting a while in a heater. The kids menu has some good options for the little ones and they just added the pretzel hot dog bites which my daughter loved. Recommendation: chipotle chicken spud with extra chipotle sauce. The dining area is clean and the service was great. The staff were very friendly and polite. It can be a bit pricey though. For two adults and two children the total was 42 dollars. Which is about the price to go out to eat at a sit down restaurant. The large specialized lemonades are over 4 dollars which seems a bit high. They are also well known for their sweet tea and it is good. Just a bit too sweet for my taste. I would need to have half sweet and half unsweet. Will be back for sure and always enjoy it. read more

I ordered the the garden fresh Turkey sandwich. Its listed as Turkey, cheese, avocado, tomatoes and spinach. It was very disappointing. The Turkey and swiss were good. The avocado was pathetic, two little leaves of spinach hardly counts as a topping. The bread was basic, I could have got better bread at the grocery store. Tomatoes were mush. I got a cup of vegetable soup. It was room temperature, and had long slimy pieces if mystery vegitables. I would give one star, but the customer service was great. Very nice employees read more

Let me start with the food is really great. I've never had any complaints about that. But, NEVER EVER go here if you are in a hurry. They never have enough staff to handle rush hours. And ordering online for pick up doesn't really make a big difference. I sat there for 20 minutes past my confirmed pick up time only to find they'd had my food ready almost the entire time. When they brought my order out (yes I was there and waiting for it), they didn't call my name. The yelled, "Order for DoorDash!" and set it behind the counter instead of in the pick up window. It wasn't a DoorDash order. I ordered to pick up. Also, they were at the beginning of their lunch rush, the line for dine in was getting long. One of the three people they had taking orders decided it was a good time for a bathroom break. She took literally 15 minutes while the other two people were trying to cover for her while also packing to go orders and delivering food to tables. Manager? No where in sight the entire time I was there. I keep giving this location chances because I do like their food. I always think of McAlister's as a tastier version of Panera Bread. They have a lot of the same menu items (soups, salads, sandwiches, etc) but McAlister's just has more flavor to their items. They also offer other menu items such as nachos, "spuds" (baked potato loaded with your choice of toppings), desserts, etc. Some of my favorites include their broccoli cheddar soup, lemonade, loaded spuds, and cheesy dip. read more

I ordered online for delivery, and it was faster than expected. The driver followed instructions for the drop off, and the food was quite fresh. However, the restaurant staff work was not as good. The service here was fantastic! We sat outside on the patio which was very nice, and the server brought our food out to us, and offered to take our cups for refill. Very nice! Their sweet tea is my favorite in the area. I tried the chicken bacon spud (baked potato) and I couldn't believe the portion size. It comes with butter and sour cream. The prices are reasonable and usually the wait is not too long. My husband is gluten free due to celiac and had no problems eating here; he had the spud as well. McAllister's has been here for a while. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. This location has a large seating area and it is always busy around the lunch hour. You might have to stand in line for a while but it does move fast. The counter clerks are for the most part friendly and helpful. If you have not been to a McAlister's, you order at the counter, your drinks are poured for you, and you choose a table where your food is brought out to you. The food is good, and good quality. I had the Chicken Avocado BLT and it was very tasty. I like the choice of sides here and recommend the cucumber and tomato salad. Been here lots of times and very likely to return. read more

I have been here multiple times and I feel like it's usually a hit or miss visit. They are usually packed during lunch but the staff are typically nice and welcoming. Some of the staff have been unwelcoming and the most of the food is mediocre. This was a great location to stop for lunch between Indianapolis and Chicago. It's a chain restaurant, but it's done well. The menu is extensive - soups, salads, sandwiches, and huge baked potatoes. Their tag line is hearty deli fare with Southern charm and it's evident in their menu. I had soup and a sandwich. The chicken and sausage gumbo was flavorful and hot with big chunks of andouille sausage. The turkey melt was good, but was delivered to our table at room temperature. So once again my experience here was horrible. First I witness the manager screaming at an employee, cussing him up and down .I thought he was about to hurt the young man,who clearly was so embarrassed and emotional. Absolutely chaos, very unprofessional. He needs to be fired ,I will not be surprised if they get sued do to his actions. Gone were the crowds that normally pack the place at lunch, and I found myself one of only a handful of customers. I'll agree with the other reviews claiming the menu is extensive. Everyone that I've taken to McAlister's has a different favorite. They sandwiches, salads and potatoes (as big as your head) are all great, but I typically opt for the McAlister's Club sandwich. It's the perfect size, has everything I like on it, and comes with a side, which is always potato salad for me. We went to the new restaurant in West Lafayette. The service was quite good, but the meal disappointed. Hubby had a Reuben, which was overloaded and soggy on toast which disintegrated. I had a baked spud, which was good enough, but did not have the quantity of veggies I have had at other McAllisters. The coffee was AWFUL: burned. I suggest they pay close attention to the coffee and put it in an urn for self-serve, and put the Reuben on a good bun where it belongs, or cut down the meat a bit and be sure to have an excellent rye toast base that can stand up to the kraut and dressing. I do appreciate, as a person following a vegan diet for health reasons, that one can get a pretty good vegan meal here. read more

Good food, poor customer service. I ordered from the app and paid ahead of time so I could just go in and pick it up. When I went in to get my order, what is presumably my bag is behind the counter. A lady was ahead of me and being helped by an employee. At this point, I've been waiting for a few minutes. I catch the employee before she moves on (because she is clearly ignoring me) and tell her I'm waiting on a to go order. A manager (?) steps in, checks the bag and verifies it's mine. Asks the employee if there is any reason my order is still on the back counter even though it has been paid for. Employee cluelessly, almost giggling, says no. Apparently, ordering ahead doesn't save you much time at McAllisters. Now that you've read this review, save yourself some time and go to a different restaurant. read more

Lafayette, Indiana. French Onion soup was old, cold, congealed and inedible. The sandwiches were mediocre at best. The staff was totally unprofessional. I thought they were having a frat party. The kitchen staff was loud, and the wait staff (all female) were vulgar and profane. We heard several profanities, and one "f" bomb. The second "f" bomb was literally shouted from a female employee at the front door. It was 40 minutes to closing, with customers in the store; it wasn't after the store was closed and the doors locked and the staff was letting off steam. When the girl shouted "Oh, f____k!" from the front of the store, I'd had enough. I gave the manager an earful, and left the restaurant with our food barely touched. Unbelievable. Was contacted by management via email, identifying themselves as "Store 1222". I was offered a sandwich, tea, and a cookie for my trouble. Obviously upper management fully recognizes the egregiousness of the situation and is willy to take prompt and decisive action. Hah! Do yourself a favor, get a subway sandwich and some canned soup; and you won't have to put up with mouthy college students having a bad day. read more

I just went to this location and ordered a club sandwich, a large coke and a cookie, the total was 17 dollars and change which is crazy but after paying that amount you would expect the best club sandwich around but instead I get home and unwrap the sandwich and when I picked it up I could tell the bread was stale, this is the important part because right when I picked it up I could tell it was stale which tells me that whomever made the sandwich absolutely knew the bread was stale yet they still made it and gave it to me, I have had a club sandwich from there before and never encountered that, plus I don't remember this place or any other place that builds a club like the one I received, first layer had just bacon and tomato and the second layer had all the meat, I not a sandwich builder but I know I would never build a club like that, I expect a whole lot more from this location and a lot more for $17 from anywhere, I might understand if the place was slammed or even a little busy but it wasn't so there really is no excuse whatsoever, somebody at this location needs to do some quality checking whether it's the manager or someone who has been told to check quality especially for these ridiculous prices. read more
