The chicken curry, drunken noodles , coconut water & mango sticky rice was so delicious! The food just melted in my mouth , the drink was so refreshing! typically there's a generalization that food isn't at its best before closing, this restaurant proved me wrong . I definitely recommend going the staff was very friendly and service was quick .

AROI THAI @ LA JOLLA parking is available in their plaza and it's open to anyone visiting the shops there. my friends and i came on a sunday night, and i had actually been to their carlsbad location before, so i was excited to try the la jolla one. when you first walk in, the entrance is a little confusing since the staircase is only on the left side, so you kind of have to go around to find it. once you get upstairs, the restaurant is on your left. inside, it has a really cozy, family-style vibe. we were seated right away and the staff was super friendly. they even offered free thai tea if you leave a google or yelp review, which was a nice touch. for food, i got the pad see ew with combo meat (chicken, beef, and pork), which i loved because i like trying different proteins in one dish. my boyfriend got the pad kee mao (drunken noodles), which has wider noodles, a slightly different sauce, and bell peppers. my friend ordered the crispy pork with basil over rice, and that looked really good too. overall, i'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in la jolla and craving thai food. it is a bit on the pricier side (around $20 per dish), but the food and ambiance make it worth it.

I've been here a few times before but always for take-out. This was our first time dining in and loved it even more! My party of eight was seated immediately and enjoyed our private dining area. We started with iced coffees, Thai teas, and a few appetizers. We have two vegans in our party and they both claimed that they just had the best vegan meal ever. Our meaty dishes were pad prik king, papa's noodles, pumpkin curry, panang curry, crab fried rice, and more. Every dish was delicious and customized to the diner's spice level. Kudos to our waitress who constantly refilled our drinks, delivered dishes in a timely manner, and quickly removed empty dishes. Can't wait to eat here again!

Green Curry with chicken. Spicy fried rice with beef. Drunken noodle with shrimp.

Amazing food and amazing service. Some of the most flavorful green curry i've ever had. Also highly recommend the spicy fried rice as well as the drunken noodles. 10/10 highly recommend.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants. I was in the mood for something different so I got Khao Soi chicken. It's essentially an egg noodle dish in very thick curry. A traditional northern Thai dish and was made popular by tourists who have been to Chiangmai. You typically eat it with fresh veggies and pickled cabbage. The pickled cabbage goes really well with the thick curry. Khao Soi was yummy. Some of the noodle is deep fried and gives different texture when soaked in the curry sauce. I definitely enjoy the dish. My friend ordered chicken drunken noodle and larb. Both dishes were great as usual. It was really hard for us to not overeat but we mustered up all of our self control and packed the leftover food home. They typically make really good stir fried noodle. So if you love Pad See Ew or drunken noodle, really give this place a try. Other dishes are good too but stir fried noodle is really the best.

My friends and I came here after tidepooling in La Jolla and it was honestly pretty good! It wasn't too busy so we were seated immediately. The food came out pretty fast as well. Their pad see ew is slightly sweeter than other places I've been to. I am not a spice lover, so a 3/10 spice level was perfect if you want just a little kick.

Came here 6 months ago and it's just as amazing this time! Ambiance is on point. Food is amazing. Great service!

Absolutely delicious! The shrimp dish was packed with flavor--fresh, perfectly cooked, and covered in a rich, savory sauce. The vegetables were fresh and complemented the meal perfectly. Great presentation, generous portions, and excellent service. Aroi Thai never disappoints. Highly recommend if you're in La Jolla!

Foods here are phenomenal! We ordered panang curry, it's very tasty and full of flavor. Pineapple fried rice is also very tasty. The best dish is the tom kha soup, tasted very refreshing.

The food was delicious. We shared the fried shrimp appetizer and I had the vegetable fried rice and hubby had the shrimp fried rice. The ginger lemonade was really refreshing. We visited on a Sunday evening at about 5pm and there was a steady stream of people coming in and by the time we left there was a full house. The servers were very kind, but it was very busy for two people handling orders for dining in and pick ups. When in La Jolla I will definitely come back.

The house seafood chow mien was not good because the basil was overpowering and the noodles needed more sauce. They were too chewy and bland. Then came the DTLA location pre-covid and my excitement that I was only a few hours away from a bowl of goodness. I've been to the UTC location at least 20 times since it opened and am so glad it's in my backyard. I've never gotten anything other than the regular kake udon with scallions and tempura flakes and a piece of shrimp tempura and sweet potato on the side. My husband is also a creature of habit and has never gotten anything other than the curry with a seasoned egg, adding a big fried chicken cutlet, fried cheese, and sweet potato on the side. Their self service station to pour your own tempura dipping sauce and adding a touch of ginger is a hit along with their soup spoons, chopsticks, katsu packets, and water station. It's cafeteria style so grab your tray, noodles, pick out your fried tempura goodness, eat, and hand the tray to the employee at the drop off station when done. It's delicious, affordable, and moves quickly. My only request is to add spam musubi to the UTC location so I can pretend I'm in Waikiki.

Recommendations: * Nikutama udon: my favorite. It's more noodle-focused, with that concentrated savory-sweet sauce coating the chewy udons * Sweet beef udon: what I get when I'm in a more soup moody. The dashi broth with sweet, savory beef is simple but comforting. * Bolognese udon: I tried this recently and was pleasantly surprised! You still the meaty and rich flavors of a Bolognese, just wrapped around thick udon. Fun to try if you want a sauce-forward dish. And I almost always grab some tempura on the way down the line. The shrimp and dark meat chicken are my favorites. Overall, nothing fancy, just solid udon served fast and efficiently. There's a reason I keep coming back here when I'm shopping at UTC.

After finishing the entertaining and riveting apocalyptic movie, we weren't sure where we were going to eat for dinner because our first restaurant choice Ramen Nagi closed at 9pm. My son's pahtner mentioned that the Ramen Nagi in San Jose had a last seating of 9pm, so we walked briskly to the restaurant and I learned that as long as you're in line before the closing time of 9pm, you'll get served. Three of the four members in our party talked glowingly about Ramen Nagi, so I was excited to grub here for the first time. After eating their Original King ramen, the chicken karaage, the gyoza, and receiving quality customer service, I wholeheartedly concur with my family's positive reviews and understand now why the restaurant was packed at closing time and why Ramen Nagi is highly rated with 4.4 stars and 738 reviews. Ramen Nagi is located within the shops of the University Towne Center (UTC) La Jolla mall. The restaurant is located towards the west end of the mall where you'll find Raised by Wolves, new spot Chef Fei, it's across from Katsuya Ko and Alo, and it's next door to Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. Parking is paid parking at the mall, but the first hour is free. There's bright indoor seating and minimally lit umbrella covered outdoor seating. Being the foodie that I am, I prefer indoor seating, so that the lighting would be conducive to seeing the food and taking pics. Look for the banners with Japanese verbiage and a large red lantern in front of Ramen Nagi. Adjacent to the outdoor seating, there's a water feature that gives off relaxing vibes. The customer service from all of the staff we interacted with was outstanding and is probably why it's such a popular eatery. To be completely transparent, I'm not a fan of having to make my food selections on the provided sheet of paper while waiting in line. I don't know if that's normal SOP and maybe it was because we were one of the last diners and they just wanted to speed along the process. I'd rather take my time, peruse their menu, and order what I desire. Luckily for me, my Pahtner had eaten at Ramen Nagi, so I just trusted her choices with a personalized deviation. What I ordered, through my wife's recommendations, was the following: Original King ramen flavor, normal strength of salt, normal richness in oil, normal garlic, chashu pork, green onions for vegetable, #4 for my spiciness, normal thin noodles, tamago (egg), and for appetizers, chicken karaage and gyoza. I felt rushed to pick my selections. For my spice level, #4 made me sweat, so be cautious when choosing spiciness unless you can handle a lot of spice. I really enjoyed the taste of the broth and the components I chose, but the chashu was not as tender as I would have liked. The ramen was a satisfying bowl that I consumed delightfully. Make sure to order both the chicken karaage and gyoza. The karaage was succulent, tasty, and would have eaten well with white rice. The gyoza was unique as it came out not looking like the dumplings I'm accustomed to. It came out flat and covered in a crunchy texture. That too was memorable and yummy. My family and I had quality time enjoying The Dog Stars and dining at Ramen Nagi. I understand now why my family recommended eating here and now I recommend everyone try out this delish ramen restaurant.

Our Date night done right by this cozy noodle shop. We went with the black garlic ramen (that…read moretonkotsu mayu broth is no joke with that deep, rich, and almost squid ink from the burnt garlic oil) topped with a perfectly jammy soft-boiled egg, tender chashu, wood ear mushroom, scallions, and crispy garlic bits. The broth had that long-simmered pork bone depth without being overly heavy, and the garlic oil gave it a smoky, almost umami-bomb finish plus a touch of seafood with that 燻 and 鮮. We also grabbed an extra chashu plate on the side which melts in our mouth, lightly charred at the edges. The space has a fun, energetic izakaya vibe exposed brick, big fabric noren banners hanging from the ceiling (the "Universal Noodle Creator" branding is a nice touch), and an open kitchen where you can watch the cooks in action. It gets loud and communal, which made for a lively date night rather than a quiet one good to know going in. Service was quick, water and shichimi/pepper grinders were on the table, and the seating (bench-style, close quarters) has the casual ramen-shop energy. It's just missing Naruto walking into this shop. If you like bold, funky, garlicky tonkotsu broths, this is a must-try. Will be back for the other flavors on the wall menu. This place doesn't do take out but takes your order as you wait in line. You can order the takeout after you sit and pack the food yourself.
