The beef noodle soup is really good. Service is always on point, especially when it's Nina. Also, the drinks are tasty. Try the chili wontons as an app, you won't regret it. Parking is tough during busy hours, but you can find street parking as a last resort.

We ordered the Taiwanese Beef Roll, Chili Wontons, and Sesame Noodles. The beef roll was the standout by far - 1000% would order again. Super flavorful, great texture, and honestly the highlight of the meal. The chili wontons weren't spicy whatsoever and were just okay for me, and the sesame noodles were decent but didn't stand out compared to the beef roll. Service was friendly and efficient, and James and Aiden were holding down the fort and doing a good job keeping everything running smoothly. The vibe is casual but still lively enough for a fun lunch spot. They have bar seating and also serve alcoholic drinks. I'd come back again specifically for the beef rolls and to try a few other items on the menu, like the popcorn chicken and spicy beef noodle soup.

Parking 3/5 -Big plaza parking lot but this is a super busy plaza with a lot of restaurants so most of the time you'll have to find parking somewhere else. Service 5/5 -Friendly staff and water was served as soon as we sat down, attentive overall. Food 5/5 -Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup $20.5, SO GOOD, wow the beef was so tender and soup was so flavorful and soothing! I liked the straight noodles more than wavy noodles because it felt denser, bouncier and just more similar to the ones I've had in Taipei. Loved the soft boiled egg and just overall PORTION SIZE, the big bowl of noodles is exactly what I look for every time I want noodles. Never change this please. They also torch it lightly before serving to give a smokey taste, I think it's a nice touch of detail. -Popcorn chicken $14.5, crispy and fragrant, very yummy no notes. -Lychee 101 $11.5 and Poomelo $11.5, both drinks were delicious!! The blend of jasmine tea and soju works sooo well, I would order again for sure! Ambiance 5/5 -Bar center with seats all around with a couple tables on the outer perimeter inside, tasteful modern interior. It feels very calm, lowkey and comfortable.

I was craving for some good Taiwanese food and stumbled upon this spot on Yelp. It caught my eye because they had some happy hour deals going on even on a Friday afternoon! Their weekday happy hour is from Mon-Friday from 2-5pm. There were select appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu that I really wanted to try, so we headed on over. The parking lot is kinda small and shared with multiple establishments. We went on an off hour but even then, there were only a couple spots left. Here is what we tried: -Beef Roll ($13 - HH pricing / $16 - reg. price) -Beef Noodle Soup ($20.50) -Taiwanese Mazesoba ($18.50)* -Popcorn Chicken ($11.50 - HH pricing / $14.50 - reg. price)* -Pickled Cucumbers ($6.50) -Chili Wontons ($13 - HH pricing / $16.50 - reg. price) -Pomelo cocktail ($7 - HH pricing / $11.50 - reg. price) *denotes favorite item(s) The mazesoba definitely caught my eye. I love a good mazemen so I figured it was a similar dry noodle concept but with Taiwanese flavors and different noodle type. It was actually pretty good and even though I'm a die hard Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup girl, I found myself eating more of the mazesoba. This is perfect for those that aren't craving something soupy but want some flavorful noodles. I really liked that they added generous amounts of fried basil with the popcorn chicken...that's how they do it in Taiwan to make the snack more fragrant. I'm always sad when there is little to none fried basil with my popcorn chicken..portions were also very generous, no change in portion size just because it is happy hour. Overall, love the weekday happy hour deals and the generous portions. Pricing is average, but definitely take advantage of the weekday happy hour if you can. Food is comforting and yummy but other than the Mazesoba that really wowed me, everything was decent! I would come back if I'm in the area and I'm craving Taiwanese food.

I saw the good reviews for this place and I'm happy to say the hype lived up! We came in for happy hour and I was really happy to see that popular items were on the happy hour menu, I feel like sometimes restaurants just put lame options as happy hour but this felt really satisfying because it was stuff we were going to the restaurant to eat anyways. My favorite was definitely the beef roll. It was delicious. Tender meat. I love how the cucumbers were flavored. Everything worked together really well. James was our waiter and he was fantastic at managing everything. I am a very particular eater and like to get lots of my sauces on the side and he was so thorough and knowledgeable and I appreciated how cool he kept it every time I asked for something else to be on the side. It was cute inside. Most seating is around a bar-like high table area but the neon cow was kinda an adorable decoration that can be seen from pretty much everywhere, it was nice and cute for pictures. If you're thinking of coming here I would definitely recommend during the day and not with a large party. It's small inside and a small parking lot as well. On a weekend or for dinner I could see it being crazier because this area has lots and lots of people come through during popular times.

I can eat this every day! Huge Portion of Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup... giant chunks of beef, soooo much fresh noodles, and the broth was delicious!!! I also ordered the Chili Wontons (8 large pieces). I couldn't finish it and have an entire meal for day2. Service was super friendly and fast. James gave me a few recommendations and kept checking in. He did a great job! The interior dining area was mostly a center bar area surrounded by chairs and a few smaller tables on the outside. Probably not good for large groups with calling ahead. The decor was pretty nice, but they could definitely organize the interior of the bar area since it's what most of the dinners are looking at. Prices were more than fair given the amount of food served. Like almost every great spot near Convoy, it is located in a very busy strip-mall with a packed parking lot.

Another satisfying visit to formoosa Brought my mom and a friend with me this time and it's been quite some time since I've been because the menu had expanded from what I last remembered! We ordered a beef noodle soup, beef roll, and scallion pancake. Between three of us, it was actually more than enough food and everything was very tasty. Our server checked in often and would help refill the water. I really appreciated her service! Would love to come back to try some of the newer menu items some time! The tricky thing about this plaza though is the parking. I was very lucky I found parking driving in a circle once but Convoy is not known to be very parking-friendly.

Great spot for a quick lunch. Parking can be challenging (I've been in the area before) but we got lucky. We also went around happy hour. Service was quick but we didn't feel rushed at all. Ambiance was nice and quiet; not too stimulating--perfect for a break after a long day of errands. We got the beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, and Taiwanese beef roll, and Pork over Rice. Great portions. Skip the popcorn chicken; it was pretty basic and tad bit salty. Everything else was delicious and I'd definitely return to get these items again when I'm in the area.

I have seen this place so many times in convoy and my cousin and I decided to finally try it plus I was even more excited to try it because my favorite animal which is a cow is next to their name in the building. The inside is small but really cute inside. I really like the chill vibe that they were going for. For the size of the place they had plenty of space to sit and move around and not be in people's way which is great. The food was absolutely delicious! We got three different items off the menu to share and it definitely filled us up and we still were not able to finish all of it. The food was fresh and was so flavorful. Was not spicy at all and had a nice crunch and texture to it. The service was excellent! The gentleman that helped us answered all of our questions and he informed us what was popular as well as what he recommended. He was so nice and made our experience that much more enjoyable. I can't wait to come back and try more of their other stuff off their menu.

I was in the San Diego area around lunchtime recently and decided to check this spot out! We ordered the chili wontons, popcorn chicken, and the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and everything turned out really flavorful and delicious. The beef noodle soup was a highlight with its rich housemade broth and tender beef shank. The noodles were super chewy too! Our servers, Khang and Aiden, were also very helpful during by checking in on us frequently and gave us some great menu recs!

Solid Taiwanese food - the portion sizes are HUGE. We took home a ton of leftovers, but not for lack of trying! Only item not pictured was the pork over noodles, which really hit the comfort food spot. Plenty of meat/toppings on the each of the noodle entrees - everything is as filling and delicious. We'll definitely return.

Came here 1 day at 9:10 and another at 9:40 when Yelp says they close at 10:30 but both times I was told by the worker they were closed?

How do I make a dinner reservation? I've called multiple times and no one has picked up.

We've been and it was only walk up. Some say you can make reservations but I see no evidence of that beyond calling the restaurant.

What's their house broth made of? Is it pork, beef, or something different?

    Should be beef broth.

    Do they take reservations?

Yes :) we made reservations when we went,

    Any gluten free options?

I went with someone gluten-free as a walk-in and they said no gluten free options so we left and went to a different restaurant in the same shopping center

Does Formoosa sell boba? I was here this afternoon, but the staff told me they did not sell boba. That's strange.

They sell milk tea and it's pretty good.

I love the potstickers, they're my favorite. The combo I order always involves them in some way. This time I had the #2 with the wonton soup, because it was a drizzly day and soup sounded good. The soup was good, but the broth was a little bland so I added some of the sauces to it to ramp it up a little. I've also gotten the noodles before, which I liked. I'm not a huge fan of very plain food, though, so what I didn't eat right away got a lot of toppings added to it when I ate them as leftovers. They package everything well, so it's easy to take home. Beef noodle soup - excellent flavor overall, including a strong broth and a nice, soft texture to the noodles. This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. I struggled to slide the meat off the skewer and ended up just eating it while still on the stick. 1.5/5 Fish fillet - so good. Easy to eat texture-wise. Caution -- a bit saltier than it looks. The bell peppers in particular were seasoned spectacularly. 4.5/5 Dry fried green beans - a delicious option for vegetables to add to the table. Most people will enjoy this one in my opinion. A bit more crunch than I expected, which is not a bad thing. 4/5 Double cooked pork - I've never seen it cooked this way, and am not a fan. I'm used to a more oily version of this dish. It's in a plaza with a ton of other restaurants, so just know parking can be a little chaotic. I went on a Wednesday around 5:30PM and still found parking pretty easily, but I can see it getting rough later. The place itself is on the smaller side, but they fit a good amount of seating. Every time I pass by it never looks super packed and even this time it wasn't that busy. I ordered ahead through their website, which was smooth, but when I walked in the cashier didn't see my order at first. I showed her my confirmation text, she checked with the kitchen and let me know it was still being prepared. She was super kind about it, so no issue there. I sat and waited and it ended up being around 20 minutes, which felt a little long for just two items, but not terrible. There was also a moment where a group came in and no one was at the front, so they asked me how ordering worked. We both just assumed you scan the QR code at the table and order from there, which probably explains why there isn't always someone upfront. A little confusing at first, but it is what it is. Once my food was ready, it was packaged really nicely. I had about a 25 minute drive home and everything stayed warm, which is honestly the best part about good takeout. Popcorn Chicken ($9.50) This might be the best popcorn chicken I've had in San Diego, especially for the price. You get big pieces, like actual chicken, not just fried coating. The seasoning is kind of addicting, a little sweet, a little salty, savory, with a slight kick. Super fragrant too with green onions mixed in. The sauce tasted like a cilantro jalapeño crema, almost taco vibes, which sounds random but it worked really well. And the shredded cabbage at the bottom soaking up all that extra seasoning... so good. Only thing is I wish some pieces were a little crispier and more golden, but still really really solid. Spicy Shrimp Wontons (8 pcs, $10.80) These come in a soy, vinegar, chili oil sauce that's super balanced. The wontons themselves are a bit smaller and don't have a ton of filling, so price-wise it's a little eh. But the sauce carries. After sitting in it during my drive home, I thought it would be too salty, but it actually soaked in perfectly. The color got darker and richer and the flavor still stayed balanced. Overall, this place is honestly solid. The menu isn't huge, more focused on noodles, dumplings, and apps, but based on what I had, they do it well. I'll definitely be back to try more, but that popcorn chicken alone is already enough reason to come back.
