First and foremost: Thank you to my fellow reviewers. I read every single one. Nothing but 100% raves. I followed my gut (as I was hungry) and yall were right. This food was amazing! As pictured...I got their Peruvian roasted 1/4 chicken and my selection of 2 sides were plantains and Peruvian baked beans. For dessert..a Peruvian napoleon..so instead of cream layer it was carmel. My drink was a purple corn drink...sounds interesting right? It tasted like a cold chai tea. Unfortunately I do live in myrtle Beach and I was in the area to Uber and lyft...but when I drive through again.. im definitely stopping

8/27/23 My husband and I came here for lunch before we left town. I've been craving ceviche and this place has it. We ordered ceviche kitchen sink as medium heat and it was so delicious! A lot of flavor and not too spicy. I always order a side of white rice with ceviche because the sauce it comes in taste so good, you'd want to soak it up on your rice. We also got the anticuchos : veal hearts and those were so tender and tasty. We enjoy organ meats because of all the nutrients. This was our first time having veal hearts and they're so delicious, highly recommend you to try it here. We tried their unique drinks: guanabana and the maracuya glass, both were delicious. Lastly, we ordered 1/2 pollo solo: roasted chicken. We tried a few bites and it was so delicious, but we were full from all the other options. We planned to take the chicken to go with us but unfortunately forgot it at the table as we were distracted from all the dessert items. The food here is freshly made to order and comes quickly. The staff was very attentive and helpful in what to order. I would most definitely return here again when I'm in the area.

Appetizer: Calamari, with Yuka y Salsa Criolla

QUE RICO!!! We were visiting the area for the BMW dealership and looking for a place to eat lunch we were so excited to see a Peruvian restaurant. The restaurant is located towards the back of the shopping center with plenty of parking. When you enter the restaurant there is a bakery and shelves of authentic Peruvian items to the left and the seating area to the right. We sat in a booth and it was very spacious and of course beautifully decorated with Peruvian art and decor. We started with the Maracuya (passion fruit) pitcher and Calamari. The Calamari was fried to perfection alongside yuca frita y salsa criolla (purple onion salad). We decided to order a whole chicken with three sides and this was plenty of food for my husband, son and I. My toddler got the lunch special cheeseburger with fries which was cooked just right! Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious we will be returning this evening for fresh Alfajores and cheesecake and of course when we are in the area we will be back !! Chavez Familia

Great food and service! The ceviche de pescado (corvina fish) was delicious. We also the rotisserie chicken and it was juicy and flavorful. The yucca was crispy on the outside and soft from the inside, just like it should be. It was so good. We decided to get some lomo con tallarines. (Beef lo mein).

    Diet Inca Cola

This place is neither upscale nor a hole in the wall, but it can definitely be described as "authentic." What I found exciting was that they have diet Inca Cola, which is not commonly found in many restaurants or supermarkets, especially the diet version. That alone is worth an extra star in my book. We started with the shrimp anticuchos appetizer, which was good, but not something I would order again. There's just no replacement for beef heart anticuchos, but unfortunately, my husband doesn't eat that. Paul ordered the shrimp and fish ceviche and absolutely loved it. As for me, I had the Lomo Saltado, and it had that special flavor that a GREAT lomo should have. Not all restaurants can achieve that, but this one definitely did. It was excellent, and I would definitely come here again the next time we're in town. I highly recommend this place.

This place was busy, but staff was very attentive and efficient. The food was good. I also overheard the table next to me talking about how good the antichuchos were delicious. I also ordered a glass of maracuya. Overall I think there's a lot of potential for this place to grow in this area. Dishes kept coming out of the kitchen and everyone appeared to be satisfied w the food.

Great food and service. The restaurant itself is small and nothing out of the ordinary. However the food is great (tasty and flavorful). There is a bakery inside, so you can order some pastries to take home. If you are in the area stop by and try this place.

    Rotisserie chicken and fried plantains

Having never had Peruvian food before, but loving Latinx cooking, I had to try Aromas of Peru as soon as I learned about this hidden gem! I got the rotisserie chicken with both of my sides being friend plantains (you can never have too many!) The chicken was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The plantains were hot, fresh, and overall delicious! The atmosphere of this restaurant is very nice. I went for an earlier dinner, so it wasn't very busy at the time. I'll definitely be coming back!

    Yucca cheese bites appetizer
    April L.

This restaurant was so welcoming and Carlos, our server was top notch! I had never been here and he explained their menu and was so enthusiastic! He gave me samples of their juices. Very sweet and nice to taste test. We ordered the Yucca cheese bites to start - pretty tasty. Then we got the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with 2 sides. Since yucca is unusual we got the fried yucca and tostones. Both were similar to potato but different and tasty. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. I could have had a whole one. But we saved room for dessert and got the Mil Hojas - Peruvian milk caramel in pasty - it was a perfect ending to an authentic meal. I'll be back to try more Peruvian food soon!

This is an update to my previous review. Today (14 July 2021) my friend DZ and I went here for lunch (my second visit, her first). I ordered the Kitchen Sink Ceviche, a mix of fish and seafood. Our server made sure she knew what I was ordering by telling me it's served cold. Yes, I know. I make Ceviche at home. OMG!! One of the best meals I've had in a long time! So beautifully presented: Shrimp, calamari, fish (mahi-mahi), scallops, and thinly sliced onions in a lime-flavored sauce. The raw fish and seafood gets "cooked" from the acid of the lime juice. I had mine prepared with a medium heat, just perfect for me. This was $16.99 and I fell well worth the price. Alongside were two small bowls with a chunk of sweet potato, corn, and fried corn; and thinly sliced fried banana chips. I was in heaven enjoying each bite of the food. What wonderful flavors. I'm ready to go back and order this again! My friend ordered the "Jumping Chicken" which she loved. It was strips of chicken in a wine and tomato sauce. It was served with rice and fries. I suggested to her the next time she request the beans instead of the fries. I had a taste of her food - something I would definitely order. Thank you Aromas of Peru for a fabulous lunch; and thank you to our server who I could tell she appreciated our compliments on the food.

My husband is from Peru, and really wanted to try this place. We each had a different entree, and we all enjoyed it. We brought home some milhojas for dessert, since it's my favorite. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's not fancy- it's definitely worth a visit.

The pictures of their dishes online enticed me to come into Aromas of Peru. It's tucked away in the back of a strip mall and I never would have known it existed. Well, thank god for Facebook. The food was delicious! I always appreciate great service, which we got as well. We will be back for sure.

    Hamburger with fries

Just did a quick takeout lunch special of a hamburger and fries there (not what they're known for) and the hamburger was tasty but plain with no toppings except yellow sauce (which was delicious!) definitely will try this place again as the service was good and the food looks good, just didn't get the right thing this time.

Most people enter the bar entrance where the small patio area is .. but on the other side of the patio is the main entrance where you are created by the host stand .. You would never know how big this place is from the outside but once in... its like one of the hamster cage cages with never ending tunnels to different rooms/area... RSVP are definitely suggested since walkins are usually in Bar area or Patio area .. which isnt bad .. but its limited seating .. Staff here are cool but service can be a lil wait if they are busy . Menu is a Panamanian vibe with lots of good eats .. One of the salsas you must get is the Elote salsa its very nommm nommmm next would be the Goat Gauc which is equally amazing. The Ceviche is a must get ... yes get the Quattro which is 4oz of each one so you can sample all ! The scallops and pork belly of mash is pretty good but would be better over the coconut rice . The special of the day was a sheepshead filet over risotto which was pretty damn good ! The corvina was ok but was a little bit over done and ended up a lil drier than expected. Highly recommend asking for the homemade hot sauce ... its amazing and goes on everything! This is definitely a locals Hotspot and an interesting place to people watch... The tortillas are really hard, difficult to eat and not very good though :( Ahi tuna was seared (not raw like I asked for) and the tortilla was burnt. Half wasn't edible... Coconut rice is sublime. Id go again but make different choices.

"Good Mexican with a twist near downtown Wilmington"…read more Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner at 6pm and were seated immediately despite it being a group of 5. The place was not very large but relatively full, so be wary of coming later unless you're OK waiting. The restaurant had a bit of a rustic look but clean & well maintained, and nice local art posted on the walls. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and a lot of the food was sourced locally. We started with a sweet potato- goat cheese "guacamole" appetizer. I split the Jefe's Arroz Con Pollo and the Carne Con Ancho with my son. My girlfriend got the vegan rellenos. Food came out in maybe 20 minutes. The ACP was very good but unusual. It came with a thigh and leg of chicken on top, and a big mix of flavors of food underneath-- coconut rice, black beans, pineapple salsa. Curiously no cheese. Very different from any ACP I've ever had. Overall, it was fine-- honestly, my son and I both felt it was too many flavors that overwhelmed each other. In contrast, the Carne Con Ancho was spectacular. The steak bits were cooked rare to perfection and absolutely melt in your mouth. The flavors of the arepa below it as well as the horseradish and other components blended beautifully and made for a wonderful dish. My girlfriend said the rellenos were nicely fried and the sweet potato puree was excellent-- a very hearty dish without feeling heavy. And we all also really liked the guacamole appetizer-- unusual yet delicious flavor (and no avocado). Price was fair-- this was definitely upscale, so not "cheap", but fair for what we got. Overall, I'd happily come back, and definitely would want that Carne Con Ancho again. I recommend.

Smoky Chicken That Needs No Sauce!…read more We popped into Papi's Peruvian Chicken on a Sunday, hoping to beat the church crowd, but it turns out, the real blessing was waiting inside. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, my buddy leaned over and said, "Man, someone's smoking something and it smells delicious." When we stepped inside, his grin got even bigger as he turned to me and said, "It's this place, great choice!" We both went for the smoked dark quarter with street corn salad. My buddy chose green beans, and I went with the Inca pork beans. I asked the woman at the counter to recommend a sauce, and she took the time to explain each one, patiently answering all my basic questions. It turns out, the chicken didn't need any sauce at all. It was smoky, moist, and packed with flavor--crispy on the outside with a deep, wood-fired taste that lingered with every bite. The Inca pork beans were hearty and full of flavor, a solid sidekick to the main event. The street corn salad, while fresh, could have used a bit more kick--maybe a sprinkle of cheese or a dash of lime to brighten it up. The interior's industrial strip mall vibe is functional but could benefit from a few authentic touches--like Peruvian art or music--to match the rich flavors coming out of the kitchen. If you're craving smoky, fall-off-the-bone chicken, Papi's Peruvian Chicken is worth the trip. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Make your order, pay for it, and they'll give you a number and bring it to your table if it's busy. I was helped by a lovely young lady, we conversed in Spanish, and went to find a table. Silverware and napkins are next to the drink fountains. The decor on the walls is awesome, a mix of heritage/Latin culture with obvious military support - it's nice to see that. FOOD: I chose the Arroz chaufa (which is Peruvian fried rice) and a side of Maduros (sweet plantains). The arroz came with a small side salad which included fresh lettuce, fresh tomato and cucumber. The rice had scallions, carrots, fried egg, chopped rotisserie chicken, all stir fried together on a hot wok, and served as a very generous portion. Over by the drink fountains you will find two special house sauces there - the yellow and the green one. Both packed a punch of flavor and one had a little extra spicy fire to it. I can imagine how delicious it is with the chicken. The maduros were delicious. I used some of the house green sauce to add some fire to the sweetness. So good! Honestly though, tons of flavor without even having to dip into sauces - same for the arroz! OVERALL: Like I said, 100 stars. This place was bomb! Wish I could pick it up and take it back home with me. Would easily eat here every day if I lived close by and would be racking up them stamps to get a free meal.
