I had a great experience at Arroogas. This is a new spot in East Brunswick and I never knew what it was until I walked in. I instantly loved the place and imagined game day there. Everywhere you look there is a TV and a different game on. Which is great if you don't want to miss anything. Each table has a TV and even in the bathroom there are TVs. The food was great as well, a bit greasy but what can you expect from a sports bar/resto. I'd love to come back during a sporting event to fully take advantage of the atmosphere. read more

New restaurant to the route 18 strip. Set up for sports fans. TV screens everywhere including in the booths. The menu has a wide variety of "healthy" food choices. The tables are made from recycled wood. Kitchen is slow to get the food out. At 2:30 on a Thursday, there were about 10 tables taken. The food was served hot and it was tasty. Large beer menu. Servers were not friendly. Our waitress gave us the check and asked if we could pay her before asking if we wanted dessert. It seems she was going home and wanted to close out her tables. It's worth going back to try it again. I imagine it's very busy on weekends. read more

Back again today! My favorite bar restaurant in our area! Good food -great drinks-and great service from girls like Emily and Amalia! Decided we would try this place tonight. It was a nightmare from start to finish. We will not return. Servers are amateurish. Servers walking around with bins of dirty dishes. Never really tasted anything we ordered other than the Stella Artois beer my husband ordered which took 20 minutes to arrive. At least we could watch the TV's until my husband's first course never arrived. At that point we decided to leave. The manager did try & apologize but it was way too late. read more

Definitely needs improvements. Been here 2 times. First was on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Sat immediately. While our server was attentive, he got my friends order completely wrong. She is allergic and had to send back her food to be corrected. His fault or the kitchen? Not sure but someone messed up. Second time was Saturday night for dinner. Huge mistake. It was insanely packed. We were told 45 mins to an hour wait, we waited for much, much more than an hour. Hostess Suggestion: put your name down on the waiting list here on Yelp! It won't truly determine how much time is cut from waiting for a table but at least you get the ball rolling. The hostesses were polite and apologetic as I kept approaching them for an update on our table. This place is huge and there were many, many empty tables. I asked why hostess responded "Short staffed. Workers just aren't showing up". While we waited, my BIL went to the bar to get a beer. He made contact with one of the female bartenders after waiting a significant time to be noticed. She asked (rudely) what he wanted. He asked for a Modelo. She said we don't have it. She aggressively put a menu on the bar in front of him and said, "here's a menu. let me know when you've figured it out". Wow. Our server Hailey was phenomenal. Super nice, attentive and friendly. Always smiling and polite even though she was being pulled in every direction. My daughters dinner came out incorrectly. She apologized and fixed the problem immediately. In general, the food didn't take too long to be served. Place is appealing for sports fans. TVs in every corner. I heard even in the men's bathroom. None in the females. What's up with that? Food was good. Drinks were decent. No complaints there but this place is new and if they want to stay around a bit, they absolutely need to hire more polite servers on weekends. I don't care how fantastic the ambiance or the food is, if I have to wait more than an hour to be seated when there are plenty of empty tables, I'm not going back. read more

Been to the Howell location 3 times in the last few months. Fun place with attentive staff. Always games on the many large TVs. Food is always good - especially the pretzel app and the cookie skillet dessert. Not a ton of menu options but enough to find something you like that is good for your cravings for the day read more

I usually never write reviews but my experience here was so terrible. As a server myself I am more than understanding that this is a tough time for the restaurant business but there was nothing pleasant about this experience. Our waitress was so rude and any time we tried to talk to her she seemed so annoyed. I asked her politely for a side of guac three times and each time she said "oh right" and proceeded to just stand in the corner and do nothing. She seemed bothered and anytime we would look at her direction, she would walk away. On top of it all our food was soggy, and beyond greasy making it inedible. Our server never checked on us and there was no one around for any assistance with anything. I am completely disappointed as this used to be one of my favorite spots. read more

We're visiting from out of town and tried this place for dinner. My husband had the wings and ribs... the ribs were so dried out and couldn't taste any sauce. We also had the shrimp tacos. Definitely don't recommend either. We did not like the pierogies either. They were baked I believe.. not a normal Amish pierogie. They took off the rib meal because he didn't eat it. 10/19/19 visit: Tried to give Arooga's another chance and again disappointed. Our server Allana greets our party by saying she can not do separate checks. I question asking why as in the past we have been able to do it to which she quickly rescinds her statement and says she'll do it. When ordering she also told our party the chicken tenders do not come with fries as a poly to charge us the extra $5 to have a separate basket. When the food came out the chicken tenders were served on a bed of fries and she still charged us for the extra basket. Then when it came time to get the check she came over and condescendingly states "see this is why we don't do separate checks" and hands me a bill where nothing is separated. I ask her for a pen and manually separate out every item for every single person to make it easier for her. When she returns she goes "oh. So you guys want me to separate the bill again?"... I'm flabbergasted at this point. She returns again with the bill incorrect and incorrect it now for the 3rd time. After sitting there waiting for 20 minutes for her to return my friend decides he will just put it all on his card. When he hands her his card she thanks him for being so flexible as if we all haven't just spend the last 45 minutes waiting for her to get it together. Due to Allana's behavior I have had enough permanently with Arooga's. When I heard management changed I wanted to give it another try but instead was greeted with rude terrible service. Just another prefab cookie cutter chain. A 1 hour wait for a Gouda cheeseburger on the small side, cheese not melted. Bun did not seem like a brioche bun either. I liked the fries, a small portion but it's better to have less. Cannot for the life of me remember what my wife had and it was only a couple of weeks ago. Maybe fajitas? That's how memorable they were. I do like all the flat screens with sports on though. See no reason to go back anytime soon. read more

I've been stopping at this restaurant for a while now, and it's pretty good. The restaurant is sectioned off from the bar area, but the bar gets so loud that it's hard to ignore while eating. There's more than enough tables and they have TV's everywhere. Even one in every booth. It's really unnecessary. When I am out, I want to socialize and interact with people, not be distracted by TV. I guess it's good for children, but what are we teaching about manors then? The bar is a big wrap-around rectangle with ~20 beers on tap, beer pong, over-sized Jenga & connect Four. All of the servers have been polite, were helpful, and somewhat knowledgeable about the dishes Arooga's serves. Don't expect anything great here, it's a chain restaurant. The food's a straight "good." Nothing stood out just yet. I am glad to see that they serve some plant-based items. They Impossible burger was pretty good and the faux wings were decent. I always get the faux wings "naked" with 2 sauces on the side because I can never decide what I am in the mood for. The Hickory Smoked Honey BBQ and the Louisiana Garlic mixed with Mild were the two that stood out from the rest for me. The ribs were not good by any means. This also goes for their bone-in wings. All of their appitizers have been good though. Especially the Buffalo Pretzel. Arooga's will definitely be in my rotation of places to visit, but it's not that high on my list. Went to Arooga's for my first time last week. Despite all the negative reviews my friends and family have given me, I have decided to experience this place for once and for all. I must say, even after coming in with an open mind ready to make my own decision on the food, my friends and family were right... the food is terrible. I couldn't believe how they could mess up mozzarella sticks and other simple appetizer items. Besides the appetizers not tasting good, my main meal which was a 'boli with buffalo chicken tasted like a grease trap. There was so much grease on that Stromboli It was absurd. Unfortunately, the food didn't really have much taste to it, despite it "having" buffalo chicken, cheese and hot sauce in it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Ordered in and decided to try something new. They allowed us to order relatively late to some other restaurants near us so that was great. Price was very average if you're dining in but as usual can add up when you're doing delivery. All of the food we ordered was good, fajitas were well seasoned and had good portion size. Pretzel burger was surprisingly yummy. The wings were very crispy and delicious. The only downside was that we paid extra for super wet wings and they were pretty dry, you could pick one up and have not a drop of sauce on your hand. Still, overall the taste was there and they were enjoyable. All of the food traveled well for delivery, nothing soggy or gross. So when I get the bill it's $4.50 which indicates regular price is $6.50 oh and yeah don't forget to add tax, they sure didn't, so $4.80 per draft during happy hour, really? Who's happy? And right from the get go our food order was wrong and our server had to be way out in left field if you know what I mean I had to flag another server twice. After another ten minutes my wife's food finally came out 35 minutes after ours. And in all a manager never came out to my request. Quick review stay away! We are first-time customers as soon as we were sat down the table was filthy. The server took a while to take our order We had another employee clean the table off and it went downhill from there. Then, I go to ask the bartender about my food, because not one of the two waitresses or host or manager for that matter are anywhere in sight.
