My wife and I were excited to visit the newly opened High Point Diner. We've always enjoyed Colonial Diner and Old Bridge Diner locally and we're thrilled to see this new addition. My wife enjoyed an earlier visit solo where she had a delicious tuna melt, so we were excited to test out the Jersey Diner Staple - breakfast! We came in on a Sunday for a late breakfast. The diner is beautiful inside - very clean, open and bright. The diner was about 1/3 full and we did notice it was very loud inside with voices carrying far making it a bit hard to hear each other at your table. Waiters and staff were incredibly nice and attentive. I had a coffee and the Lumber Jack Pancakes with pork roll substituted for the ham and my wife had the Hungry Man French Toast. The coffee was excellent, better than typical diner coffee. Strongly recommend it. We both enjoyed the eggs, sausage, bacon, and pork roll; however, not so much the pancakes or French toast. My pancakes looked amazing but lacked any discernable flavor. I am one of those unusual people that uses little syrup (sugar free) on pancakes, so the pancake flavor matters more to me. These pancakes tasted bland and almost cardboardy with a dry cakey texture. I only ate two bites and wouldn't get them again. My wife's French toast (on challah bread) was very very wet and soggy. She said the flavor was good but we both rated it low due to sogginess and the "mush" factor. Overall, High Point stuck the landing on the core breakfast elements of coffee, eggs and meat, but couldn't reach the high points on diner essentials like pancakes and French toast. May give High Point another try in a couple months to see if this was a one-off poor meal, but it would take a lot of improvement for me to choose High Point over Old Bridge Diner or Colonial. read more

Let's start by saying this is a diner, not fine dining. Maybe my rating is a little high. The place was packed on a Sunday evening, the parking lot was full too. We were greeted by the hostess and said it will be a few minutes but we were seated as soon as a table was cleared. Our server was very good and checked on us several times during our meal. The food, I had a Gyro that was okay, too much shredded lettuce and cold Tzatziki sauce didn't add to the pita sandwich. The fries were pretty good. Others mention wraps, the Chicken wrap was large and full and diner quality good. Prices are similar to other diners but a Coke with too much ice is $4. I think a little too high. read more

Pretty Basic food. Not bad per say but nothing special at all. The pancakes were dry, the chicken wrap wasn't put together well: Is there even a real chef back there?? Way too expensive for the quality we got. Very loud atmosphere; we couldn't hear to talk to each other - this isn't a sports bar... The waitress was pretty nonchalant; she didn't even ask if we wanted drinks, forgot condiments and all that and had a kitchen boy bring us the food. But whatever. I wasn't impressed, was overcharged and will not return. Got a chuckle out of the weird ketchup on the tables though. read more

Hubs and I wanted to come here for lunch. There was another diner that was at this location and it closed down for a few years, so we were excited when we found out a new diner opened in its place. We were immediately seated after arriving. Hubs ordered the Grilled Eggplant & Mozzarella Omelette, which is 3-egg omelette filled with grilled eggplant and melted mozzarella. It also came with home fries and rye toast. He said that the eggplant wasn't fully cooked and that it tasted gummy. There was very little eggplant in there. But, he said that the omelette tasted ok. I ordered the Western Wrap, which is ham, peppers and onions wrapped in a tortilla and served with potatoes. It tasted ok but I felt it needed some kind of sauce. So, I asked for hot sauce and it tasted better with it. The home fries were pretty good. Service was quick and friendly. The food came out fast. Husband and I got the lumberjack pancakes order. Food was good and portions were great also. Enough to share with my toddler. Service was great, young woman took our order. She was kind and attentive. Absolutely love that napkins are available on the table. So convenient. It's nice and clean inside. It wasn't loud like all of the other reviews said. Perhaps they've taken heed to the comments. Food was flavorful. I think this new diner will do well. I would take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. After my mother's eye surgery, she was hungry from not being able to eat for over 14 hours, then we came upon The High Point Diner, what a wonderful treat! We were nicely greeted and then were served an appetizer and fresh bread & butter. There were so many selections it was hard to decide. Our food was wonderful and our waitress Ally (Allison) was so patient and kind. The highlight was the wonderful desert, a large piece of freshly made chocolate mousse cake. I took most of it home and ate it 2 more times. It was luscious and delicious. We have plans to go there on the 15th or 16th (my next visit from Pennsylvania ) , with family members. Met a friend for lunch here the other day. Had a Greek salad something I thought any NJ diner should do well. Ha! was I mistaken. Massive bowl of chopped iceberg lettuce (no romaine or other lettuces). Under ripe tasteless tomatoes which along with cucumbers were chopped into tiny pieces. Dolmathe's were dry and tasteless. Dressing was kind of sweet, not even close to a simple Greek salad dressing. Pita thin and hard with grill marks as if placed in panini press until totally dried out. My friend had an omelet he thought it was just ok nothing special. Service was attentive but I suspect because place was at least 80% empty during peak lunch hour. I'm leaving for the Air Force, and during one of my last visits she gave me so many words of encouragement and support that genuinely meant a lot to me. Very pleasant managers, who helped seat us , continually make their rounds. The Matzo Ball soup, definitely needs improvement. Tasted like a bouillon cube , with flavorless balls . (We left most of our soups, behind.) We DID tell the manager, so perhaps their soup will be upgraded , in the future . And , he DID ask if we wanted a different soup . (We passed on it , but glad for that option) Meanwhile, the burger was nicely chargrilled, with a good , beefy flavor ! Have ordered take out multiple times, the past 2 times they left things out of my order. The recent order they left out a muffin, had to go back to the diner to get it. We went on a Tues night, not crowded at all. We were seated quickly and server was very nice. Hubby ordered chicken Marsala, which was awful. Bland, very little sauce. I had roasted turkey with mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans. My food was good, could have used more gravy, none on the potatoes. The bathroom was gross. None of the stalls had toilet paper in the holder, all had toilet paper sitting on top. Very unsanitary. The paper towels are just piled in the sink and we're all wet from ppls hands dripping. Everything looks new and clean. Staff upbeat, cheerful. Wraps seem to be their go-to. Our usual first order for a new place is (me) burger deluxe well with brioche bun & well done fries and (hubby) a chef salad. No chef salad listed on menu(?), so he ordered a gyro wrap. He was happy. Burger arrived super rare. Waitress on it & quickly returned it to kitchen. After 10 mins, was re-served (different server) as a single burned burger on greasy flattened bun, no deluxe...after asking & 8 minutes later, l&tom arrived. I was pleasantly surprised when I went there the first time and they were up and running with great service, great food and great atmosphere. My wife and I finally tried High Point a week ago ordering take out. We both ordered the Turkey Club Triple Deckers. They came with fries, cole slaw & a pickle. The club sandwiches were huge and the turkey was piled high although a little dry. I managed to finish the entire meal feeling stuffed. Our take out was ready when my wife went in to pick it up which was great. Had our sandwiches had a bit more mayonnaise on them this would have been a 5 star experience. Not really much went right, unfortunately. Locals like us have been waiting for something (good) to replace the defunct Seville Diner for a while now, but High Point should be renamed to Low Point. From the lack of service, to the bland food, to the paninis not being pressed at all, to the lack of any refills on drinks, to the hair in the dessert...we can definitely say this was a one star experience. The makeover inside is nice, but that's really all it has going for it. The slippery floors and (already?) stained chairs kind of took a bit away from the ambiance. Clearly people in East Brunswick were hungry for a new place to eat because one week after the opening the place was packed for lunch. But, our party of four (two girls 3 and 5) and two grandmas, waited 30 minutes to be seated, although the hostess had advised a 10 minute wait. We were told that the problem was "in the kitchen". Our meal was mediocre (omelette was good, coffee was cold, and why serve "Mac and cheese bites" which were fried breaded balls of Mac and cheese?). Wait staff we had was unprofessional. He told us he forget the toast because another table had cursed him out and he was upset. I went into High Point Donner on December 19. They wanted to hire me but they said that it would be best if I waited until after Christmas then they called me in on December 24 to potentially serve and get my bearing straight. I missed my family Christmas party because of that upon arrival the manager said we don't need you to train. I just wanted to see if you would show up, and he promised that he would call me after the Christmas holiday I repeatedly called and showed up to talk to him and his daughter's ever since at that point, they told me the position has been filled, which made no sense to me because I came in on the last day of work prior to Christmas and then all of a sudden they said no I continue to show up every single week twice a week until this past week they kept saying that if anybody left, I would be the first person that they called. I know for a fact that people have left since then I know them personally, they never called me not only did they promise me, but I wrist my family Christmas party to come in on good faith that they would give me a job. All they care about is business. They don't care about that everyday person and they don't keep their promises to people who really wanted a job and stuck by them ever since they were open you can all go there and enjoy the food. I am just letting you know that you were dealing with people who do not keep their word. They got my hopes up they ruined my Christmas Eve and promise of the job. They lied. read more

First time my wife and I dined at this establishment. Some things to watch out for. Had lunch at 3pm on Sunday 1/4. Service and food were good. Ordered a grilled cheese deluxe $11 which includes fries, pickle and coleslaw. Order arrived without coleslaw or pickle. When i asked about the missing items i was told they are having glitches and they brought out the missing items.( i was almost done eating at this point ) When the bill came it ballooned from $11 to $15.25. I was told they were having glitches again and the bill was corrected. The corrected bill was for $37.75 + tax $2.50 + non cash adjustment of $1.75. ( I left a 20% tip ) This was not the servers fault. We will try this diner again in the future but hopefully after they have fixed the glitches. read more
