Our party of 20 plus people dropped in unannounced after a team game and the manager went above and beyond accommodating us during some obvious hard times to operate a restaurant. Literally tastes like reheated fries made from a frozen bag after you left them in the fridge for 3 days after "cooking" them and slapped them in the microwave. The chicken sandwich tastes like it was made by the collective spirit of Minnesota, the least flavor imaginable. And guess what, all the same texture. "Wagyu burger" wagyu thinking serving people this trash. My best friend literally forced me to take a bite to suffer like he has. Trash. And the pretzel burger? My girl literally took two bites and passed it around so we can all suffer too. How is it both moist and dry and neither in a good way. Almost zero sauce, and the meat was overcooked like they wanted to make a hockey puck. We cracked up a new bottle of whiskey for this! A brand new bottle!! We threw $42 dollars of food, and just ordered from McDonald's, thats right your food is worse than McDonald's basic ass, just so we can scrub the taste out with the grease and salt. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt even though I noticed the mediocre reviews on Yelp, but behold, the reviews were truly spot on. My experience at Aroogas was a travesty. I'll start with the pros, they have a very extensive tap list for brews and it's not bad. For the cons, that would be EVERYTHING else. The food was beyond disgusting, the appetizers that my table ordered were bland and generic. Our entrees which were just burgers tasted like they had been microwaved. I couldn't even finish my plate! To add insult to injury, the prices were absurd for an establishment that's basically a GLORIFIED dive bar. Would I ever return to Aroogas? Absolutely not, I would rather go to a chain restaurant. Great menu. Cold drinks. Decent service. My only complaint is that the hostess station has no clue how to seat people efficiently. My 1st visit was a slow Tuesday night. Half of the restaurant was empty, but I still was told it was a 20 minute wait. I asked if I could sit at a bar-top table and finally was seated. 2nd visit was a Saturday afternoon. From the second I walked in the door, to the time I left, I was taken care of A to the Z. The food is unreal. I had the impossible burger, sweet potato fries, and guiltless wings with sauce on the side. Unreal. This is my new go to spot. No more Hooters, no more B Dubs. First time eating here so these are my first impressions of the place. Wife and I came here for a late lunch on a Saturday. First thing to notice is the lot is still being developed so it is somewhat small and under construction. Also the entrances and exits aren't near each other so it can be a little confusing if you haven't navigated the lot before to know. As for the restaurant itself, it's a lot bigger than you think because the rooms are broken in different sections. The bar looked large, the pre-seating area also looked ample if there happened to be a wait. The hostess asks if you prefer a table or booth, they seemed to have either available when we went. When we were first seated it was kind of odd that the waitress made a point to tell us the Enviromental perks of the building from the tables to the recycled napkins. I guess for some people that matters but when your serving bar food in the first place kind falls low on the priority list in the first place I would think for most of us patrons. So the main reason we came was the food. I've read good and bad reviews on this place and in my honest option it came out to be average. Nothing we had was memorable nor terrible. My wife and I both got different burgers, they were over cooked but were still ok just not how we ordered it. Also the size of the burgers are smaller than what one would expect. Honestly the best part for me was there fries were pretty good. We also ordered some apps (faux wings and the crab dip/ pretzels). The boneless wings were ok and the "kind of hot" sauce is actually pretty hot. The crab dip was just ok, like I said the menu looks great and you have high expectations on the food but it just seems to be slightly underwhelming. As for the service it was average, the waitress came and checked after bringing the food but the appetizers could have been brought out way earlier. Literally they were brought to us after about 20 mins after ordering and t2 mins later our entrees came out. Overall I wanted to love this place and realistically only found myself saying it's just ok. Would I eat here again? The cheese steak Stromboli is an instant hit. Try the Bavarian pretzel for an app - served with honey mustard , cheese , and Dijon mustard. Pass on the Nashville chicken sandwich. It's as if they were closing since they were sweeping and everything else but couldnt pay attention to the customer. Came here for the wings and atmosphere. Wings came out lukewarm and they had no crisp to them. Ordered a salad which was fine and ribs with fries. Had to send the fries back, they were super mushy and the ribs were also lukewarm. Besides lacking any real meat on the ribs they just tasted bad. Not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars. Every time I've visited here I've had the best service and great food. The wings here are great. Great sauce, great flavor and cooked just right. They're not stingy with the portions either and feel like just the right amount. The drinks are good and great tap choices. The service oh man the service is great. Tonight we had Jessie in the bar seating area and she was the BEST, the absolute best server we had (this is coming from a person who was in the service industry for a looooooong time) she was professional, drinks were refilled, service was fast, great recommendations and friendly. 5th time is the Charmer. Even though I had less than stellar service in the past, I cannot complain about this visit. My appetizer came out in a timely fashion, and this time it was actually hot. Sunday afternoon, place was not crowded. Sticky menus, which is a terrible first impression. Waitress greeted us promptly for our drink orders but seemed uninterested and not very knowledgeable once we started to order. Pictures of dishes on menu made food look much better (and larger) than what was actually delivered. Nothing worse than being overcharged for sub-par dishes, there are MUCH better options within a quarter mile in almost any direction. Never thought I'd say this but even Applebees would be a HUGE step up from this place. I was originally planning on ordering dessert but couldn't take the idea of another guaranteed disappointment. The bill came and were overcharged (item we never ordered mysteriously appeared). I have never been so happy to actually get out of a place. I'm sure the manager will reply with a "So sorry to hear... please come back" BS, save it, how many times do you need to read the same negative comments to realize nothing is going to change EVER. It's just a matter of time before this location shuts down and, based on the reviews i see for the other locations, the entire organization is laughing all the way to the bank. My dad said it best when we left...the inside is great (big tables, # of TVs, etc.) but that's about it. He had a cheesesteak and I had buffalo chicken cheesesteak. His didn't come close to resembling steak, more like a gray boiled ground beef or something, and had 0 taste. Chicken Cheesesteak - Chicken was chopped ground chicken (which was fine), half the hero had sauce and juice running all over the side so you couldn't pick that up and when I grabbed the other end to eat it, the bottom fell out. Big mess. This place won't last, IMHO. Sucks too because hate to see a business fail over stupid stuff. Preparing good food is easy, getting the customer is the hard part and when you get him, give him a reason to come back. This place isn't doing that...yet. Bread was below avg too. read more

This place needs to close down to train their entire staff for a few days. After waiting for 10 minutes to be greeted by our server after we were seated, we ordered two apps and a round of drinks. The drinks took another 10 or 12 minutes to be delivered, even though I could see them sitting on the service bar, and almost decided to go fetch them myself... Our food took 45 minutes. Read that again. FORTY FIVE MINUTES, for an sampler platter and an order of wings. To top it off, everything but the pierogies on the sampler was cold. And the order of wings was cold as well. Our server, who ended up having a crying meltdown prior to us getting our food (most likely from the ineptitude of everyone involved in running this restaurant) fetched the manager, who offered a half hearted apology. You'd think she'd have comped the whole check after this shit show, right? Naaaah. She took the wings off the check, and offered to replace them with a new order. I told her we didn't have another hour to sit there and wait for an order of wings. She did end up bringing us a fresh order in a to go box, less than 10 minutes later. (Oddly, that's how long the entire original order should have taken) Maybe...possibly...eventually... I MIGHT give Arooga's another chance in a few months. Only if I happen to find myself on Rt. 18 and hungry enough to eat my steering wheel. read more

Aroogas has lots of different options including they also serve gluten free options which is awesome as many places do not cater to gluten free. Drinks are always fresh, tasty and priced well. Food can be a little better but not bad for a sports bar chain restaurant. Would definitely recommend for a boys night out or big game night such as football or basketball. There are tons of tvs and all the servers we have come in contact with have always been pleasant and accommodating. read more

Have been here several times and never had a bad experience. The buffalo pretzel is amazing and we get it every time. The pretzel nuggets and beer cheese, oh man. Love the cheesesteak boil and sandwich. Had the sampler and thought the sliders were too dry. But overall food is delicious. Has never really been crowded when we go, which is surprising. And if you can have Tony as your waiter, get him. Friendly, attentive and great. Wanted to get the wings but the cheesesteak boil just kept calling my name. Next time will definitely get the wings. I grew up in East Brunswick and after being in a town that has no bars I was so excited to check this out. There was no parking so clearly the place was busy which is a good sign. Upon being inside there are no bar seats again showing the place is clearly busy. We made our way up to the bar And I couldn't help but notice the bartender seemed so irritated by us. She acted like we were bothering her by ordering a drink, pretty sure that's her job though. All we were getting was one drink each and we were going to leave and we felt like we were a burden. We all watched how she interacted with the other patrons around us and it was the same thing no smile, no personality just annoyance. Now I work hard during the week I really look forward to going out on the weekend to have a drink and unwind but the poor customer service left me and my friends wanting to leave a soon as we were done and left me not wanting to return to this bar ever. For all the excitement I felt she completely sucked it out of me. There were other bartenders around so who knows maybe they would have caused us a more pleasant experience but she pretty much set the tone. We were originally going to come here for dinner, but due to the bad reviews we read we just stopped by after for the drink. That was enough to determine that this is not the place we want to spend our time and money on. Such a shame. read more

The place was nice and new and parking was easy. That's about the only good thing to write about Aroogas I will first start off by saying the wannabe rapper bar tender was rude and dirty looking. While he sat there talking about smoking and selling drugs with a kitchen staff male, he completely ignored us for a good 25 mins before finally asking if we wanted to order. I have to say I was appalled by his profane mouth and talking about drugs the whole time. Every other word from his mouth was a F bomb and he continually grabbed at his crotch area. When our appetizers arrived they were cold and very small. Came here on a Sunday with my husband at 12 and we were seated within 5 minutes. Our first time here so we needed extra time to check out the menu. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us twice before we knew what we wanted. We tried the sampler which was good. The pirogies were too salty for our taste, but it's added after so we can ask for without next visit. The burgers are Delicious and the truffle tots were banging. I had the street tacos and they were good. The portions are good, so I don't believe they are expensive for what you get. We will be going back. read more

I'd like to shine some light and positivity to the negative reviews for this place. If comparing between other sports bar & restaurants, I believe I had a 4-star experience. I've been really curious about this place for about a month now. I'm always wondering what new things are going on in East Brunswick because I feel like our town has gotten extremely dry. That's a whole other rant that I could go on! My boyfriend, our friend and I planned to go here last Saturday because it was the first day of the NBA playoffs. We're big basketball fans and thought, "hey, lets see if this place can service our needs for watching the start of the playoffs" and it DID. At around 6:50pm or 7pm we signed up for wait list on the yelp app (HIGHLY recommend if going during dinner time). It told us the wait would be about 30-35 minutes, to check-in with the hostess before 7:30pm, and the number of parties ahead of us. We got there around 7:15pm, got a text around 7:30pm stating that our table was ready and then were able to sit right away. The whole process went seamlessly. Immediately we noticed the ample amount of TVs. LOTS of stimulation. I'm not sure if we liked that or not. There were times when I wasn't sure where to look because there was just SO much going on. We were seated at a booth; it didn't have a TV like a lot of the other tables, but there was a giant screen conveniently right in front of us with three different channels going on side by side. Some places don't like changing the channels of their TVs, but when we asked, our server was totally cool about it. Our view for the 76ers game was PERFECT. Service was great and food came out fast. There was one small issue though. One of the food runners brought out my entree with one of our appetizers. I would have understood if our server told us that the food would come out sporadically, but he did not AND when he notice that I had my entree, he was very confused as to why. One of the wing sauces that I asked for on the side was also missing. Despite that small issue, all of this was corrected by our server. He quickly noticed and acted on it. We really appreciated that. We ordered a collection of things to try and share with: -2 beers (I forgot which ones, but it was off their menu) -Appetizers: chips with buffalo chicken dip, onion rings -Meals: A burger, sliders, wings with sweet chili sauce and some kind of sauce with the name Louisiana in it. It just tasted like a spicier buffalo sauce. HIGHLIGHTS: the onion rings HANDS DOWN were our favorite. They were huge, had the perfect amount of crunch and the onion didn't slide out of the ring. Whatever sauce came with it was really great too. Overall impression of the food: it was good for bar food. Nothing over the top, but it didn't suck. Overall impression of Arooga's: all that mattered to us was that this place would create a fun, relaxed atmosphere to watch a sports game with decent food to satisfy us. That is exactly what we got. I had a great experience at Arroogas. This is a new spot in East Brunswick and I never knew what it was until I walked in. I instantly loved the place and imagined game day there. Everywhere you look there is a TV and a different game on. Which is great if you don't want to miss anything. Each table has a TV and even in the bathroom there are TVs. The food was great as well, a bit greasy but what can you expect from a sports bar/resto. I'd love to come back during a sporting event to fully take advantage of the atmosphere. read more

Pretty great experience. The environment is pretty awesome. The TVs at the tables are a nice touch. The waiting staff is friendly. The food was super tasty. The service was fast at the table. There were a few things I didn't like: So, upon walking in...there was no hostess. Eventually one came our way then picked up the phone and took a to-go order. It was at least 5 minutes. There was no wait currently other than that, but there should be a separate employee taking to-go orders. Also, the booths are far from the table and are not bolted down when you lean up towards the table the booth comes off the ground. The booths should be moved closer together and bolted to prevent this. Lastly, the price of some of the entrees can be a bit steep especially when some of them don't come with any kind of side. We had to add fries for $5. Over all I recommend this place, but management: please fix those issues I mentioned read more
