This is a great place to visit. If you read the other reviews you will see a common trend and they are very accurate. The service is not very good and the food takes a long time to come even when they are not very busy. Once you get your food it is always amazing. I have eaten here several times and the food was always great. The menu is also extensive so if you have trouble deciding you should look before you go. So as long as you done mind mediocre service and a slow kitchen in the quest for great food give Aroogas a try. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this place. Wow. Here's a list of the main failures we experienced: - the hostess stand had 3 hostesses. They each had a terrible attitude, and didn't greet any guests that walked through the door in or out. As they walked around they blatantly ignored customers, and they were nasty when we asked them how much longer for our table. As we were waiting, we even watched them talk behind customers backs as they walked away from the host stand after asking questions. We were told 30 minutes but waited closer to an hour. Fine, no problem. But it is still no excuse for their terrible attitude. Also, it's important to note that these girls looked DIRTY! Their hair was greasy and they had terrible acne. (That may sound mean, but it's not when they are touching their hair and their pimply faces and then touching menus and unwrapped silverware.) the girl who brought us to our table only brought two menus over even though we were a party of four. - the waitress didn't come over to our table for at least 10 minutes, and while she was sweet, she was absolutely clueless. -when we finally ordered drinks, she only brought two over (we were four people) and she had to ask us again what drinks we ordered, even though she wrote it down. -while my father was in the middle of ordering, the waitress walked away from the table. I mean literally, walked away without any comment. - we ordered two appetizers. The pierogies and the pretzel bites. The beer cheese and the pretzels were clearly sitting under a light for a while because the cheese had that film over the top, and the pretzels were luke warm and over cooked. The pierogies were alright. When our server came back and we told her about the pretzels, she took the tray away. We're pretty positive the kitchen took the tray and popped it in the microwave instead of giving us a new order because the pretzels came out extremely dark and even more over cooked then the first time, missing the one pretzel we had taken off the first time to try . When we finally got the "new" pretzels, our food came out. -our server never asked us how our food was, or if we needed anything. We waited for silverware for 10 minutes. But the waitress took an unwrapped fork and knife out of her apron and set them on our table for us to use... uhm. No. - while we were waiting for the "new" pretzels, a manager came over and asked if everything was alright. We said it wasn't the best, but she never asked what was wrong or how she could make our experience better. She offered to refresh my drink, and never came back!! -our meals were sub par at best. I only ate about half of a half of my Stromboli, and the server never asked if I wanted a box or if something was wrong. - the server then "apologized" to us, stating "it's not my fault the hostesses didn't bring you silverware and that the pretzels weren't hot" All in all, this was a terrible experience, and the ONLY thing this place has going for it is the TVs that are everywhere. I have come to this restaurant a bunch of different times cause the service is really good and same with the food..until tonight . If my husband asked for his food to be a certain way 3 different times the food came out a different way I don't understand how hard it is to do the aroogas style on the wings where all you have to do is take the chicken and put it on top of the tater tots with the sauce they couldn't grasp that...when they finally brought it out they made it look so saucy and supi (on top of that when the gentleman brought out his food he was "is that better?") with the sauce on top that it looks like vomit on top of that they messed up on the bill and my plate and my glass was empty NEVER EVER AGAIN read more

Food average at best, didn't have really any flavor and you could tell ingredients were low quality. Prices were reasonable on paper but once you got the food it seemed overpriced. Service VERY slow. I was close to giving this place one star, but there were a few pros. I'll start with them. 1) The entire place is very clean and overall it is a pretty awesome place, with PLENTY of televisions in every direction, including personal ones at each booth that you can control. 2) Extensive beer list on tap. Of course, that only matters if you're able to actually get them (more on that below). 3) Pretty extensive menu with plenty to choose from and something for everyone, no matter their mood or individual tastes or dietary needs (gluten free, etc.) 4) Two of the people in my group got burgers. They said they were decent. I can't vouch personally though as I didn't taste them. Now for the negative parts. 1) The appetizers did come out relatively fast, considering how busy they were. Decent portion and they were hot and fresh. But, they came without the cheese sauce that was ordered. I immediately reminded the food runner about it since the waitress was nowhere to be found (story of the night). 10 minutes later, the cheese sauce comes out, cold and with a dried "skin" type layer on the top, as if it had been sitting for a while. By this time, the appetizers were cold as well from the time waiting for the sauce. 2) I ordered boneless wings. They came out cold and soggy, with absolutely no crisp to the breading at all. It seemed as if they were made and then sat for a while before they were brought to the table. One good thing here though - the fries I ordered with them were fresh and tasty. Personally, I've had better wings at the bigger chain places (Friday's, Chili's, etc.) 3) I ordered a second beer just before our appetizers came out. As the waitress cleared the empty appetizer plates there was still no beer so I reminded her. She apologized and seemed as if she had forgotten. Okay, it happens, I get it. No big deal. Now, the wings and entrees come out from the food runner. Still no beer and no waitress to be found anywhere. She finally reappears halfway through finishing the wings and I again ask for the beer. This time she had even forgotten which one I ordered and had to ask me again. It finally arrives a short time later when we are mostly done eating. I like a beer with my wings - didn't happen here. 4) One of the reasons my group came here was because of the beer list. There were several I wanted to try. But, because of the lack of service, I never got too. We paid and headed across the highway to have some more drinks at a place that also had a decent beer menu. Only difference is there we were actually to take advantage of it. I did want to bring this to the attention of a manager or somebody higher up. However, on the way out, the front counter in the waiting area was unmanned. No staff around and nobody to speak with. I waited a couple minutes and nobody showed. I didn't feel inclined to re-enter the dining area to ask for somebody in front of other customers so off we went to the other nearby establishment to continue our evening elsewhere. read more

Great and friendly staff. Food was pretty good! Atmosphere is cool and lots of tv to watch sports! A bit stingy and expensive with shots but the beers are reasonable! Okay so I went back a couple more times, and every single time my party's food was either incorrect or just plain cold. Most recently I placed an order for pick up and went to my car to check the order since I had absolutely zero faith that it would be correct, and good thing I did because half of it was wrong. I went back in and had to wait another 15 minutes for them to fix it. I wasn't compensated in any way for having to check myself or bring the food back in and have them re-fire it. They were like, "I'm so sorry you had to come back!" Please. I didn't trust this place at all to even leave the parking lot. Something else that annoyed me is when I walked in there wasn't anyone in the waiting area, but there were 3 girls at the front desk/hostess area and they were all on their phones absolutely ignoring me until I said something. Even gave you a bonus shot at a 4th time, and I was disappointed every single time which sucks because the food, when it's correct, is actually really good. My fiancé and I visited the East Brunswick location on Sunday evening, 4/18. Our server Kayla was attentive, polite, and apologetic. She saved our experience because our meal was subpar to say the least. Our appetizer of wings was cold, so we asked for new ones and when they came out it seemed to be that they just refried our original order. We also ordered the seafood nachos which were sloppily put together and unappealing to the eye and our Italian salad came out missing ingredients. There didn't appear to be any bussers on, as there were many dirty tables around the restaurant which is also not appealing. This was the second visit to Arooga's and our last. The first time wasn't the best experience (long wait for drinks, mediocre food, lazy staff) but we chalked that up due to it just opening a few days prior. So we gave it a second chance with it having a few months to iron out any wrinkles. Well it seems they didn't improve much. Our appetizer never arrived (well it did but AFTER we finished our main meals; and the server thought it was for another table moments earlier--she only brought the appetizer to us to try to give it away for free in fact). My wife's tortillas for her fajita's were rock hard and cold so she had to wait a few extra minutes to get the server to replace them and wait a few more minutes to get a fresh, warm and pliable batch. We had ordered buttered noodles for my daughter but she got French fries instead. We didn't even bother telling the server at this point. Sadly, this place would be a great sports bar/family restaurant but after two mediocre at best experiences we will likely never to return. Another sports bar that has great potential but it's just okay. The waitlist on Yelp is convenient but was shocked that there was a 30 min. at 10:30 p.m., but it is new. Due to the long wait I decided to grab a seat at the bar, not a problem at all! There are endless great options on draft, from seasonal items to classic favorites. No matter where you're sitting in the resturant you'll have perfect view of all the TVs; because there are so many! For an appetizer I had ordered the pretzel bites along with with a spicy margarita, both were delicious! I also ordered the Jalapeño Jack Burger and that was incredible, highly recommend, also add sautéed onions and avocado for a little extra flavor. I would have given this review 4 stars originally but I'm giving it 5 due to the excellent service behind the bar. My wife Maria and I decided to celebrate my sons committing to a College at the new Arooga's on 4/15 at around 1830. What a Disappointing experience! All was well till our server informed us that the kitchen was "backed up", and apologized. Just shy of an hour later our meals arrived; two burgers and an order of Fajitas. First the wraps (fajitas) my wife received were stale: flaky, crumpling and stuck together. When they were replaced with a fresh batch, my wife noted that her Fajita dish was more like a vegetarian dish. She ordered shrimp and beef; she received three shrimp (that you can see were quickly sautéed on one side) a few strands of beef and a whole lot of peppers and onions. At this point I requested to see a Manager, our server acknowledged our disappointment, apologized and went to inform the Manager. Another fifteen minutes went by and still no Manager. We asked for the check and left. It is understandable that this is a new establishment and there would probably be some wrinkles, but this was a crater. We really felt bad for the young lady who had to apologize and hear our disappointment over something she had no control over. read more

Sorry to say, not a great experience. Communication was not great, like how the manager came over to tell us there were no ribs left twenty minutes after we placed our order. Once the server came over to take our order we ordered and then he said they were out of all red meats , it was 7pm .. that would've been nice to know when we arrived , or when we sat down , or before we ordered . After speaking to the general manager, my friends and I returned to Arooga's later that day. I spoke to the GM before we headed over there and she asked us if we had any preference to where we sat. She set up our table so we would be able to walk straight in. It was such a great night!!! It was a Wednesday night which is when they have a DJ and a pong tournament. Liz, the GM, was very accommodating and continuously checked up on us throughout the night. Our server Ricky was amazing! He was very attentive and quick. I would be two sips away from finishing my drink and he would already be there with a new one. So happy Arooga's was able to redeem themselves from our last experience. Aroogas is a very fine dining establishment. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very patient. TVs are located every where for a laid back sports bar vibe. Serving sizes are big, but make sure to save room for desert. My favorite part was definitely the cookie pie dessert. read more

This place has a HUGE variety of food and completely surpassed my expectations. It was completely packed but wait time was decent. Drinks were really strong unlike the typical watered down drinks in other places. Only think I didn't appreciate was that they made a mistake on the order and didn't fix it properly. After another 10 mins, an old waitress comes over to the table and takes the drink order. We ordered 2 waters and a diet soda. After I said "hey, we only got one soda" trying to return one glass, she throws her hands up and says "I'm just doing what I'm told". I gathered my things and left.
