Went there with a co-worker at noon for lunch. Relatively empty as expected for the time of day. It was still empty when we left at 1:15. We ordered the sampler platter to share which had boneless wings, mozzarella triangles, sliders and pierogies. The waitress asked if we wanted bleu cheese for the wings or ranch. We couldn't decide and she asked if we wanted both so we said yes. She didn't mention that we'd be charged extra for the ranch dressing! (By the way, it never came so we had to ask her to take it off the bill). When the platter came she put it on the table and walked away. We had to ask for plates. My lemonade was awful - tasted like a powdered mix. They never came to see if we needed anything. We took a bottle of ketchup from another table. Went there Sunday for opening day. They did an unbelievable job. Got there around 12:15 and the place was already getting packed. But luckily we were able to get a table. Didn't know they took reservations, I recommend doing so. Anyway, second time there and the service was beyond fantastic. Never waited for a beer, was more than helpful when friends trickled in and needed seats, and always had a smile despite a huge crowd. Wings were amazing. Crowd was great. My family and I came here for lunch today and were extremely disappointed. We ordered the seafood nachos which were good, and wings for apps. The wings were soggy and the sauce was gross, the kids ate some of them but I did tell the waitress they weren't crispy and we eat wings often to know they weren't good. She took them back when I said that they could make them again for us, she told us she was making us fresh new wings and when another person brought them out they were burnt and had no sauce on them and looked like our wings we sent back. We told the girl to take them back and she made a face and when I asked for a manager, the waitress came over and told us they were fried then placed in the oven, who does that? We told her to take them back as she did. No manager ever came over to our table to try and rectify the situation and ask how we were doing and our waitress barely cared that we were unhappy with our food. Our margaritas were sweet and have had better, the burgers the kids said were soggy and my boyfriend said his meat sweat sandwich wasn't that good either. I had the brunch burger which was pretty good. We spent a decent amount of money here and we would've rather eaten somewhere much better like Del Fuego where we should've gone, many choices in Patchogue and we will never be back. read more

Sold out of 2 popular beers on a Sunday for pregame football!!....a little nervous to see how actual football games go here. I gave two stars because it's new and there's clearly some room for improvement. Wings were standard. I had the hot wings which apparently won an award in Buffalo. I can't see how that happened. (As I'm typing this the fire extinguisher fell off the wall) They tasted like most wings I've tried. (Ran out of another beer lol!! That makes 3!!) The menu is huge, to big for my likings but my friends are in to it. I plan on trying the burger for lunch. 3 things make a sports bar, food and entertainment. There are TV'S everywhere. I recently moved out of the apartments directly above Arooga's and have been going there ever since they opened last year. It was a fun atmosphere between the sports bar vibe and family friendly dining area. The wait staff was always very friendly and hard working. I would take my 6 and 8 year old to have dinner there and they were always treated the way kids should at a restaurant (not like second class citizens). The bartenders were always very attentive and could carry a nice fun conversation. Some of my personal fave's included Sarah, Caleigh, and Ali. Charlie (one of the managers) has done a great job at bringing a fun vibe to the restaurant no matter what time of day. Sarah hosts trivia night on Tuesdays and it's definitely a fun time with a group of friends. The restaurant is clean, the food is good, and the beer list extensive. Definitely worth a visit (or two). I'm going to miss being able to just pop in at any time. read more

This was my 2nd visit to Aroogas in Patchogue. The food and service were both just ok, when ordering my Long Island iced tea i asked the server what their house brand of alcohol was and she said she didn't know. Also, what really annoyed me was when we got the check, on the bottom where it lists the different suggested tipping amounts, the lowest 2 were scratched out and the higher tip amount was circled. Maybe it's just me but that seems shady. I was a server for many years and would never have done that. I clearly don't need that to figure out what tip I'm leaving but still it seemed weird. I unfortunately felt the urge to create this yelp account solely so I can let corporate know about the kind of people they have representing their establishment. I have tried Arooga's multiple times because I live right in Patchogue and it's convenient. But mostly because I enjoy the atmosphere when it's summer time and the doors are open. I don't typically sit at the tables so I can't comment on the service there, but the service at the bar is off more than on. There is a young woman there with blond hair that whenever I see behind the bar, I should just walk out. But for some reason I continue to stay. This time I think it was too much. She just seems uninterested in being a bartender, and more interested in socializing with staff and her cell phone. I'm not normally one to complain, because I am in the business myself, but yesterday the manager and her were inappropriately touching, behind the bar and in front of customers! Yes sure, I'd love a refill on my beer with a side of ass grab from your management as entertainment. I will say that the food is good for what a franchise typically is, and there's a young man who was very polite who brought us our food. If you had more people working for you like him, you'd probably be able to compete with the rest of Patchogue. I'll continue to go back because I'm a glutton for punishment like that, and I'll just expect the service to be mediocre when she's there. I just thought corporate should be aware of the happenings here. But judging by the other reviews on here, they are probably aware. Went there after work with a group of Co-workers. We ordered food which was brought out by Bus Boy who had no idea what dishes were what or who ordered them. He sort of held out the tray with a confused look on his face and motioned to us to just grab the plates and sort it out ourselves, which we did. The food was as unremarkable as the concept, which I have yet to figure out. But, I think Arooga's is Latin for One & Done. We'll just leave it at that. read more

I would give this so much less of a review if it wasn't for my server. Okay so let me start off by saying I've been to this place numerous times food normally comes out good not fast but good, now the restaurant was really packed far behind I have ever seen it. My friends and I sit down and order some apps and then 2 burgers and an order of tacos, we had waited close to 30 mins before asking our server where everything was he assured us that it would be out shortly he was so sincere and apologetic we almost felt bad for him. We then took a look around almost all the tables were upset, we started discussing with the table next to us who had a different server and was saying that their experience was even worse. We asked to see a manger and was told one was coming never did we see him we were late to our show and paid full price for cold food. I am more ashamed at management for not coming over not looking in the dinning room once to be honest. So if you see this place with more then 4 tables go running it can not handle it. From the kitchen to the bar to the management is terrible sorry for the other staff that has to deal with that. read more

I went Sunday afternoon during the busy football rush and was worried I wouldn't get proper service because they were very busy. But my server, Melanie, was efficient and and on the ball. The appetizers and drinks were delicious, all because I went with our server's awesome suggestions. This place served traditional American food but with a nice spin, and was delicious. Our server anticipated our every need, and made eating out during the crowded football season a breeze! If you go there, I would highly recommend you ask for Melanie to serve you. I recently heard about this place so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered some wings to go and was told you need to go to the bar to place an order. The bar wasn't that packed but getting a bartender's attention still took forever. The manager who happened to be walking around asking people how their meals were finally took my order. I am not sure why a hostess can't take orders to go like they do at other places. I saw they have an extensive wing sauce list so I wanted to try different sauces. I wanted to order 20 wings and figured they would allow multiple sauces with that many wings like at Hurricane or BWW. I was told if I wanted to order 2 different sauces I would have to place 2 separate 10 wing orders. The problem is it costs more $$ to do that. If I wanted to try 4 different sauces with the 20 wings (like I usually do at Hurricane and BWW) , I would have to place a seperate order of 5 wings, which would be even more $$. With all those different sauces on the menu you would think they would allow you to order different sauces. I wanted to try the wings so I got the 2 orders of 10 wings with 2 different sauces. The wings were ok, but for $26 I spent, I think I'll just get my wings from BWW, get a variety of sauces and save some $$. They have a lot of beers on tap and plenty of TV's to watch the game. I might come back and stay to eat/drink next time to see if the service/food is any better. read more

Huge draft beer choices-especially liked their Amber Ale-nice layout -as other reviewers have stated-tons of TV's..large menu-fair prices.. Negatives- painfully slow service on a Weds at 6pm! Quickly seated and then waited close to 10 mins for a waitress. My date ordered a water, I ordered an ale- 10 mins later the water came, but no beer! That took another 10mins... Why?? The bar was not crowded.. Seems like service in the dining room is much slower than the bar or high top table areas. We both ordered soups, hers was fine, my chicken noodle was good, but only 3/4 full.. Would hv said something to the waitress but she kinda disappeared ..Her salad and my burger was fine...as a previous reviewer said, they charge for any and everything . My date didn't want things like banana peppers or cherry tomatoes in her salad and asked to have a little extra cheese instead.. First the waitress said no, then she said it would cost extra money- but she didn't know how much! The menu is huge, but strangely limited to appys and burgers and wraps. No entrees like steak or fish, no sandwiches like club or rye, wheat etc Tons of finger foods , ribs, oh just remembered I wanted the soup and grilled cheese- it came with Tomato Basil soup- I asked to sub the chicken noodle instead... You guessed it... Nope! I agree with a previous reviewer about the music- it went from Frank Sinatra to a hip hop song that has some really adult lyrics- across from us were two families with kids.. Quite uncomfortable for them . This restaurant has to get its act together - are there no Managers on duty? Are you a Sports Restaurant? A family Sports Restaurant or a Hipster Sports Restaurant? Patchogue is filled with really good restaurants that treat their customers well.. But they aren't "chains" like this one. I've been wanting to try Arooga's for awhile now and finally got the chance to on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago. As me and my husband walked in we were greeted by 3 hosts and I have to say they were super unpleasant!! It was only a table for 2 I felt as if I was inconveniencing them. We were sat in a booth back by the kitchen. I was so annoyed I thought my experience was going to be horrible just based on that... finally we were introduced to Melanie she made this experience super! She was so attentive, responsive and so helpful and any questions I had she knew the answer to she's the reason I'm giving this place 3 stars and will only come back when she's working! Been there twice so the first time I went (granted it was 2 weeks after they opened) it was a pretty horrible experience went there with my wife and my 2 year old son, ordered 2 wraps and 2 beers and food the baby took about 90 minutes to get our food and when we got it was cold and burned. We complained and they took off the wraps, so I paid the rest of the bill (thank God it was on my credit card because the following day when I was paying my bills I noticed a much higher amount than what it should have been, so I called and thought it was fixed but the next day I saw there was 2 more charges so I called again and the manager had no answer why but he said he would fix it, the very next day I see he refunded everything and wouldn't you know 2 more charges appeared , I called the credit card company and they cancelled the card. The manager sent us a 25 dollar gift card (had to remind him) went back again food was a lot better and so was the service but pretty darn pricey need better specials, the positives are lots and lots of TV's. read more

Yelp is silly. This place has 3 1/2 stars overall and that's exteeemly generous. It has the same rating as the tap room and the tap room's food destroys this place. When i asked if i could be seated & get some drinks while i wait for the kitchen to catch up, i was promptly told no, & that i could go stand at the bar & drink while i wait.
