But recently the pass 3 times that I have bought the chips / salsa there Salsa SEEMS TO BE VERY WATERY AND LOST THE THICKNESS AND TASTE OF THE SPICES. So sad that they change the recipe. read more

Grew up on their Tamales, and the Tamale boat. More recently they added new items to their menu but I never strayed from the famous tamale boat, nachos or chips and salsa until the other day!! I was early for work so I stopped by for a breakfast burrito... it was humongous but I still couldn't stop eating it! Papas, chorizo, beans and egg!!!! I didn't eat lunch that day. I had to finish every last bite of that burrito! All simple ingredients that Mexicans use almost daily. If it's done right, you don't need anything else. And this was done right!!! If you come expect to take it home order the Nachos you put together at home with salsa and nacho sauce. Order the tamales you take home. If you can eat in our car and it's not supper hot like it's been than order a tamale boat or some nachos. This place has nacho sauce and salsa like none other. The chips are bomb try some with just salsa and lemon at home the wet ones toward the bottom are the best. As usual the food is great and the service excellent. I always order the red chili burrito and my wife the Chili Verde nachos. My wife also gets her masa here for tamales. Are you kidding? They may have great chips etc, but I stopped by because I read they have, "the best nachos in the business." It is a small place, I dropped in and ordered the nachos. The guy went over to a serving car, slapped some chips in a container, slapped on some cheese, and meat on top. I wasn't impressed, but thought I'd give them a shot. Since you cant eat there, I asked the cashier if there was a park nearby where I could kickback and eat, he said, "not if you value your safety." So I drove down the street to the next city over to find a park. by the time I was ready to eat, the brown bag had soaked up the grease and it looked like a mess. My wife and I were helped by a young man who was very pleasant and helpful. (His name, Ian) While waiting for our order, I had a almost uncontrollable urge to grab a couple fresh tortilla chips off the back counter. (when within ~almost~ arms reach you would too!) I asked Ian if I may have a chip or... two... he gave us a smile and added a bountiful portion to our order to go. Free! But the very best part? THE SALSA! Everytime we have a party, we get a big bag of chips, about 5 lbs, a pint of cheese and a pint of salsa. I love their nachos with meat! Their chips are fried in Soy oil, so much healthier than other places. The salsa has a hint of oregano and is a perfect blend. I had my first experience here about 2-weeks ago. Umm... Tamale Boat... Amazing! This is a hidden gem, walking distance from the courthouse. If you blink, you'll miss it, but I promise you, it's worth keeping your eyes open for. The staff is extremely inviting and the menu gives you so many authentic homestyle Mexican dishes to choose from. I've been craving their Tamale Boat since I awoke from the food coma of that day. Best chips and salsa ever! My minuses to bring me when I was about 10 years old and their place is same spot and I loved it then and I love it now. Tamale boat is what my hubby gets and I get the loaded nachos . I remember this place when they would serve the chips and salsa in a small paper bag. I use to live around the corner and every Friday I would go pick up an order and take home. In Sunday's this place has menudo... Bring ur own pot and the will fill for u. Charge of course. But it is the best in town. Now I live 2hrs away and I will actually take a drive and go go by there and pick up and bring home tamales and a big huge bag of chips and a large nacho cheese and salsa. They don't have seating it's more like go in order and leave. It's the best and they even added a few things over the years such as masa prepared to take and make ur tamales and there's a menus if breakfast burritos and plates too.
