This place has been around for many years and the food is decent. What's horrible is the wait time. I placed a phone order for 2 breakfast burritos at 9am to take for lunch I had to be at work at 10am. I felt this was enough time to have food ready and I was advised it would be ready in 20minutes by 9:20am. I arrived and my food was not ready until 9:45am. Stopped by for four small nachos, a bean and cheese burrito, and two drinks. I spent a little under $40 and that included the tip. The chips were good, the chile rojo on the other hand was a little tough for my taste. I was a little disappointed to see them pop my daughter's bean and cheese burrito into a microwave. I was not too impressed with that. Their menu is so small and there is nowhere to sit inside and eat. I worried our nachos chips would be soggy by the time we made it home but they were fine. Arriola's is take out only so don't look for somewhere to sit and eat inside. The drinks are either canned soda or bottled lemonade. The food is amazing and delicious, I ordered the tamale boat which is a beef tamale covered with fresh nacho cheese and Chile Colorado and also ordered the deluxe Chile Colorado Nachos which are superb. Arriola's makes the best nachos in the business. Their nachos are strictly chips, salsa, and nacho cheese sauce. Perfect for that mid-afternoon snack. Arriola's isn't a restaurant ... It's a small tortilleria. (The place is so small, you wouldn't even no it was there.) They mostly sell salsa, chips, tortillas, and tamales. But they do put out some delicious red or green burritos and the tamale boats. I try to make it a point to stop by and pick up some chips and salsa whenever I'm in town. If you ever find yourself in downtown Indio ... I definitely would recommend checking out Arriola's for yourself. You wouldn't be disappointed. read more

This place is a joke! I don't know how they are still in business. There is nowhere to sit and eat, the menu is extremely limited and I did not see any signs of an actual kitchen in the back. When I asked what was on the nachos, I was told "chips, meat and cheese, we make them old school". The meat and cheese came out of a serving container on wheels in the back room! By the time I was able to sit down to eat my "old school" nachos, it looked like the Exxon Valdez oil spill. I should have went to 7-11. Maybe the chips alone are good based on some of the reviews, but the nachos... no way! This place is like a bad roach coach, but without the wheels. Came here for nachos and tamales.. Holy crap this place isn't cheap!!! I ordered a small order of beef nachos and 12 tamales.. It nearly cost me $45.00.. Considering this place is a hole in the wall I'm the middle of Indio, it's hard for me to justify takeout that costs that much money... Had the food been outstanding(which is wasn't) it still would have been pricey in my opinion... People rave about the chips there.. They were as hard as a rock people. They may have been good for the nachos, as thy were smothered in beans and salsa(helps prevents soggy chips) but by themselves they were wayyyyy to hard.. As for the tamales, I was disappointed.. Yes they were large, pork tamales(which many places serves small, dinky tamales these days. However, they weren't as good as people made them out to be.. Lastly, the salsa was pretty darn good.. First time going to Indio heading back from touring the Salton Sea. We stopped here by accident, because I got too impatient to keep driving to another Mex joint I wanted to try. It looks like one of those local hole in the wall places that's either going to blow your mind or blow your toilet. So glad we tried it. In fact, not glad ... but blessed. This place is a take out only spot. I appreciate that they finally take credit/debit cards, they also now started opening early, because they now serve breakfast. Over the highway and through the desert to Arriola's Tortillas we go. Indio is home of the tamale festival in December, so I thought I'd stop by for some tasty tamales on my way back from Phoenix. If you're going to and from Joshua Tree or Phoenix, do not, as my friend from Washington did, go to Palm Springs for Mexican Food. Don't expect anything fancy, expect real homemade tamales. Arriola's specializes in tamales, tortillas, chips, and salsa. Not for the carb conscious. The tamales are full flavored, a slight touch of grease, homemade masa, wrapped in corn ears, filled with rich pork. Oh man. The chips and salsa are fantastic and homemade too. The chips must be made from Arriola's own tortillas because they're crisp with great flavor. They smother them in fresh salsa, rather than putting it on the side. It's sort of tomato-saucy and mild to medium, very fresh. Arriola's is a bit hard to find. Exit Jackson from I-10 and head south, turn right on Warner three blocks past Indio Blvd. The place looks like a warehouse and it's across from a dirt parking lot. Welcome to Indio. Gotta love it. Bring cash and take it to go. There's no seating at Arriola's. I took my lunch down the street to the park at the corner of Date and Jackson. From Arriola's: head east to Jackson, turn right, pass Ave. 46 and go one more block to the park on your left. The park has covered picnic tables. A hidden gem in Indio, California. Known for their delicious homemade chips and salsa. The nachos are really good and they have added a nice little breakfast menu that I can't wait to try. The salsa is good and the chips are think and crispy (a little too thick). Service: Everyone there is nice; not everyone speaks English. Tried calling Arriola's for over a week and never could get through...mail box filled. So I thought guess I need to go there to get my Christmas Tamales...totally a mistake. Was told (by the owner) I had to order the them ahead of time, so tell me Arriola's how do I do that. You would have thought the owner would have been gracious enough to find me a dozen tamales. They don't make any extra's (really). So those of you that got your's how did you order them? After reading reviews I thought this place would be amazing. However, for us the chips were way too thick (kind of like Fritos w/o the salt or taste), the salsa was mild and more like a tomato sauce, and the green chili has little to no flavor.
