I still love the people who work here, love the food, love the cheap drinks, BUT- last night I was here and on the way to the bathroom I spotted something running across the floor - turns out there were several rats running around the lounge area in the back. I'm not bothered by rats outside but inside? where there's food being served all night? and we're sitting on couches very low to the ground? nooooooo way nope. This is a really nice bar for the ambiance. The back room has beautiful decor, couches for lounging, murals on the wall, moody lighting, and an eclectic mix of music. Definitely not rowdy and you can have a good conversation. It does get crowded so entry can be limited. The also have a system that if you order at the bar, you cannot buy drinks on the same tab in the backroom (maybe an issue with merging the systems), so just keep that in mind! I would say drinks are average but the ambiance is definitely the selling point! read more

Obnoxious Their diversity marketing is a façade for a couple of corrupt and unprofessional staff members. I made the line to get in, and Louis, the security guy, asked for my ID. I showed him a photo, and he went inside the bar, leaving me unsure if I was allowed in. I waited at the door, and the blonde bartender smiled at me, so I smiled back, assuming she was waiting for me to come in and order something. Eventually, Louis let me in, and I had a couple of drinks. I chatted with Camila, one of the bartenders from my Latin country. When it was time to close the back section, I took my drink and stood near the bartender's door while Camila was telling me a story. As I was standing by myself, the blonde bartender looked at me and then at another bartender, saying, "Who the f*ck is this guy?" I repeated her words in disbelief and asked why she was being so rude. She left, and I asked the manager for an explanation. The manager said, "She is drunk; it's almost the end of her shift," as if that justified her behavior. The place closes at 4 am, and this happened around 2:30 am. The manager took the bartender's side without a logical reason and tried to impose her authority, which I called out as unethical and corrupt. Camila then intervened, saying it wouldn't make sense to argue, and explained that I was just standing there waiting for her. It's not a customer's fault if a staff member, who is supposed to be working, gets drunk and insults them, and then the manager justifies this behavior without reason. Unacceptable, unprofessional, rude, immature, hypocritical, arrogant and illogical. It seemed that the treatment I received was due to racial prejudice since I was not rude with them at any moment. This place is a VIBE!!! When you enter the bar, it looks like a pretty typical bar, but when you enter the back room, it opens up into a kind of lounge area with couches and more intimate seating. Really enjoyed our time here. You can take a seat at a large table and play cards and overall the place has really good vibes. Most of our drinks were good or average; however, the lemon drop martini was literally lemon lime Gatorade with vodka and a sugar rim, hence the 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. The ingredients did not mention anything about Gatorade; however, as folks in our mid-20s who grew up drinking and loving lemon lime Gatorade... it was quite obvious. Given previous reviews, perhaps they were just out of the proper ingredients and threw something together instead of coming back for a different drink order. We'd absolutely come back - just will steer clear of the cocktails and stick to wines or beer. Only place in the city I've been able to find Original Sin Black Widow Cider which I've been OBSESSED with for years before moving here. Huge plus from me :) read more

Had a terrible experience here. I went with one other friend and the server who was serving us was being rude and giving us attitude. The two times we did call him over, he gave us this sigh and rolled his eyes when we asked for glasses of water. He never got us our water and we ended up having to go up to the bar to get some water. When we asked for our check he took a long time and never came to give it to us but he was going back and forth to our neighboring tables and seemingly ignored us. In the end, we had to ask another server to get us our check. Don't recommend coming here, it ruined our night and our experience here. read more

The young gentleman working Sunday night (the twinkish one) was super welcoming and friendly. He offered up NYC suggestions to my friends visiting from out of town and made sure the whole experience was pleasant. There was a rude woman at the bar insulting him and causing made up problems and he dealt with it in stride and was nothing but polite, the mark of an excellent customer service worker. With $9 cocktails , and 6.50 wine it's hard to find something to complain about and those prices are pretty much unbeatable in the west village , especially for the ambience you're getting here. We got the sliders and fish tacos and they were both amazing too!! Fun bar with a nice crowd and open late . This is my go-to spot for a night out! I've recommended it to several friends and all of them love it. One of my friends even uses it as her go-to place to bring her dates. The food is always a hit--you literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The samosas are my favorite, but the mozzarella sticks are a close second. Their mixed drinks are amazing--the ginger coolcumber is my favorite. I once brought my mother here and she said the lemon drop was one of the best she's ever had. The prices are also really good for the city! The crowd is younger, but I've brought my mom and her friends with me before and they were comfortable and loved it. Met a friend at this spot the other night and while I'm usually a frequent of the dive where beer and wells are what's for dinner, Art Bar was a nice change of place. It's called a lounge but it actually feels more like your local beanbag coffee shop. The front bar is also really cute. The ticket price on their cocktails is the main draw at Art Bar though. While most places in the area charge about 15 for a nice cocktail, most of Art Bars cocktail are between 9 and 11. I had the Hendrix Elixir which was pretty much one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Highly recommend if you're a fan of elderflower and gin. This is definitely a spot I'm keeping in my Greenwich/ WV rotation. read more

It has a lounge in the back -- dimly lit and very private, which surprisingly wasn't crowded when we visited, that highly adds to the atmosphere of the place. The service is incredibly friendly and they have a wide variety of cocktails to try; surely they'd have something that was suit any palate and taste. We ordered the seasonal cocktail - a pumpkin pie martini - and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back for this cocktail alone and wish it was permanently on the menu. The menu itself had other interesting things that would be worth coming back for, even without the bonus of the private lounge in the back. I have worked in the service industry for a long time, and have no problem tipping, and give 20% as long as everything is satisfactory, and even more if I enjoyed the service. I have been to Art Bar many times, and this is the first time I've seen this gratuity added. I have a feeling they are picking and choosing which tables to add this gratuity, (I was able to do that at a previous place of employment). To add the full 20% automatically versus 15-18% (which would be more understandable) is quite presumptuous in my mind. The service was slow as well, we had to call a waiter over several times. I love Art Bar, food is decent, drinks are great, back room is so cute and comfy. However this time I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. When I first walked into this bar with my friend on a Saturday night, I wanted to leave. It was loud and chaotic. However, we pushed through to the back room and found a little nook to sit in. From there, the night got much better. Art Bar has a lot of unique drinks ($10 margaritas in nyc is pretty good too.) I had a lychee martini (not my favorite, almost a little cough syrup-y), an espresso martini with mezcal, and a pineapple Jell-O shot. For how crowded it is, service was pretty attentive. I feel like this bar is probably amazing during the week, we came in during a peak time Saturday night. Judging by the crowd, it seemed like a pregame spot, and given the drink prices, I can't blame them! They also have an AMI jukebox, so if you have preferences you can set the music. The crowd was pretty aggressive about this, I queued a few songs but they got lost in the list until later.
