I like to call myself the nail whisper. I have tried several speciality nail salons in nyc. For my latest hunt, I needed the hard gel on my nails removed as I was concerned abt nail damage. After several days of looking for a location that would remove work of another stylist/location, I stumbled upon Art Nail in the wee of the night. In fact it was so late at night that I accidentally booked an appointment for the next morning. I was so worried about how I would get out of this pickle as there was a strict cancellation policy but they emailed me the next day with a resolution. The salon consists of several different nail technicians who are all amazing in their own right. The stylist I was working with happened to be my name twin and she was knowledgeable, creative and meticulous. The customer service is top notch. I had cancelled an appointment recently and they had reached out to me via text asking if I needed a rescheduling that they could assist with! That's freaking amazing. read more

Updating my review to 4 stars for a couple reasons. 1) Art Nail really likes to move appointments around at the last minute, which would be fine if *they* didn't charge for cancellations/reschedules within 24 hours. 2) If you don't tip your tech, or forget to tip, or your Venmo breaks, they will chase you for a tip. Maybe I am old-fashioned, but to me, the tip is between the actual person doing the service and the actual person receiving the service - it's none of the salon's actual business and a customer should not have to explain their tip. I couldn't make an appointment to my usual nail spot but opted to try somewhere new for a change to get hard gel removal and nail art. If you want nail art, specialized hard gel, extensions, etc. this is that type of nail salon. They charge an arm and a leg for just tier 1 nail art, which is less complex, time consuming designs. They price accordingly for each tier and any additional services, I think tier 3 or 4 being the highest. I asked for tier 1 art and it cost over $200 after tip. My first experience wasn't bad by any means but It came with some issues. My appointment was already an hour behind schedule as they asked to push it by 30 min, and when I arrived, I still had to wait another 30 min until my technician was ready. I brought some art inspo for my designs, which I thought was pretty simple. I felt the art was ultimately done okay, with the exception of some parts being a little sloppy on closer inspection. I also had some polish remnants on my skin. I asked for a rhinestone on one of my nails, which didn't feel secure on the nail at all. That ended up falling off the very next day which I was afraid would happen. Pretty disappointed when looking at the work more closely. Overall, not completely satisfied with the first time experience, but I wouldn't shun anyone to try this salon. They do specialized nail art, but it's not cheap. I felt what I got didn't really equate to what I paid for. For tier 1, I expected a bit better, and especially for the price. Growing my natural nails has always been a challenge for me because of the damage from acrylics and gels. I've been coming to Art Nail NYC since August 2021 and my natural nails are the longest and strongest they've ever been. I use the IBX treatment every appointment which makes a huge difference. All of the artists at Art Nail NYC are all sooo talented and knowledgeable about the products and service they offer. I've been to a lot of nail salons in NYC and around the world but this is the most talented group of artists I've ever seen in one location. I usually get a tier 3 with 10 designs because I live for nail art. Phoukhane has been my artist for months now and she has given my nails a new chance at life. When you spend $167 plus $30 tip on your nails to feel like you've been fooled. I tried handling my issue privately but I left disappointed. I contacted the Art Nail via text 3 days after I got my nails done by Dakota because I notice they were beginning to lift around the edges. Someone replied then went MIA on me. This around 5:45pm Monday. So I had to contacted again the next day Tuesday telling them wanted the problem to be remedied. They info me I would have to come in Wed-Fri 12-7pm cause they were booked. I came in about 3 hours ago, Thurs July 25 about a week after I got nails done on Fri July 19. First thing the receptionist tells me is that my nails grow out fast after examining them. I would need to wait a bit to get it fix, which is fine since I did come 15 mins late. Celia gave it a look since Dakota had a client. Celia explain to me it was the way the tips were made and it's a bit wider. It's just the way it's growing out. All she did was file the sides. The shape does look a bit better, I must admit. Filing may have help the shape but not the issue. The lifts seem to be more visible. I asked her and pointed it to her. She kept telling me it would be fine. So I left after she finished filing and wiping my fingers with alcohol. Gave it a chance to be fix but honestly I'm still not satisfied. I paid double what I usually would, hoping my nails would last but my nails came out mediocre. They shouldn't be lifting on the third day. I travel 30 mins each way because of your reviews to feel like is was all a gimmick. I waste my money and time to be unhappy. I shouldn't have feel like I need to repaint my nails myself since the side my file off. And the lifts are still there!! Better off going to a salon who cares about the clients. Only reason why I gave 2 stars is because the decor was beautiful. The salon was tidy and clean. read more

The owner reached out to me shortly after my review to rectify the situation and the poorly done manicure by the previous technician. She came in when they were closed to remove and redo my nails herself, and explained to me their culture and products. I do think there were a lot of miscommunications that happened on my initial visit and it seems as a new business they are working diligently to make sure clients have a good experience, and also to avoid the sweat shop mentality (while creating a comfortable environment for their technicians)... In my case, I think I came on a day when there were still a few kinks to be worked out with certain staff and processes, but it seems she has the right intentions. I was also impressed with the quality of products they use and the knowledge around them. I'm grateful I was able to get this rectified and happy with my nails now. Imagine a little hidden cottage in the woods made of gold that only appears ever 100 years- that's Art Nail. Sataya is a wizard that runs the show and should be crowned Queen of Nails. Experience : My whole experience was fantastic. I am someone who does NOT excel at small talk and Sataya made me feel so welcome. Nails: I went with Apres Gel Extensions. This was my first time with extensions. Apres are a soft gel extension so they soak off like gels instead of filing like acrylics. Sataya was wonderfully attentive and answered all my questions about the bonding process and soak off process. She and I talked about length and she gave me her honest opinion, which I appreciate. Nail Art: I went with a design I brought in and a foil nail. They have so many design options but it doesn't hurt to come in with a clear idea of what you want. $$: It rang up a little more expensive than I had anticipated but she did literal witchcraft to my hands so honestly, worth it. I can see myself getting extensions 3-4 times a year and sticking with a gel manicure in the meantime. I WISH this was a habit I could afford every month because again, nail witchcraft. I ended up spending $200 and was pleased with my design. Two days after the appointment, the gel on one of my nails started lifting. I returned to get it fixed, and once again left confident that my gel would last 3-4 weeks. A week later, the gel on another finger peeled off entirely. I cannot say enough good things about this salon! The gel manicures are amazing and all of the artists are so talented. Lots of options for glitter, stickers, and charms. They really emphasize nail health and use extremely high quality gels. I was a little nervous about changing my cuticle care, but after a few months, my cuticles look better than ever. They really get to know their clients and always remember what you like and don't like. Manicures last at least 3 weeks, and if you do have a chip, they will happily fix it for you. Gel removal is so gentle and free for repeat clients. Sataya takes COVID safety to the next level, really, the city should hire her to help gets things under control. Temperature checks and hand sanitizer at the door, 50% capacity, well over 6 ft between stations, plexiglass dividers, masks required, shoe covers provided when you walk in. She even installed air filters at each station, and this is on top of the intense sanitizing procedures they already had in place. read more
