So I was in town for a couple of days and whenever I visit LA, I try to hit one of my staples like Johnny Pastrami's or Pinks. But during this visit, my brother in law informed me that Johnny's was no longer being operated by the original owners and subsequently, the quality of the sandwich that I fell live with over 30 years ago, was no longer to be had. Damn... So, I whipped out my phone and promptly started searching Yelp for an alternative. That's how I found Arts. Arts is a food cart located near LAX, directly across the street from the Target warehouse. While they clearly feature Pastrami, their menu mostly skews towards Mexican street food which was fine by me! We pulled up after 8pm and parked across the street in the Target parking lot because there isn't any parking on the street the cart sits on. Now the pastrami sandwich is $30 - so you need to be committed. It is served on a roll vs sandwich bread like rye so if you are looking for the traditional style, this ain't it. That being said, this sandwich more than holds its own. Generous quantities of pastrami and the roll fresh and soft. We also ordered a chili cheese dog, churros and a couple of aqua frescas. Service was really good and we got our order in under 15 minutes. I would definitely keep this spot on rotation when I need my pastrami fix but I would also want to try some of the more traditional Mexican dishes that are on the menu read more

Simply put. If you looooove pastrami, JUST GO. Had the EL BASICO and it was probably one of the best basic pastrami sandwiches I've had ever. Nobody beats KATZ for me but this was close. This place is legit! Came here 2 nights in a row. I work near LAX and get off late so this is a good spot to hit for late night eats that's totally worth it. First night I got breakfast burrito.. it was amazing! The pastrami was cooked perfectly and it was good ration to meat, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Not one ingredient was overpowering. Really good! Second night I got the works pastrami sandwich. Really good! Had a little kick to it (spicy) which I love spicy. The food is amazing but the best part is the service. I don't even know Art but from the first meet I felt like he was one of the homies. He's friendly energetic and you can tell that he loves what he's doing. Service is everything to me, being that I work in the hospitality industry. Arts service and hospitality is definitely spot on! Art even offered me a free sprite on my second night for returning. Food came out quick, fresh, hot, and delicious!The area is pretty dope. Lots of parking, open lot, close to the airport so you can watch planes take off and land while you eat which is dope!
