This one in El Segundo is very conveniently located on Sepulveda just south of LAX and literally next to one of my favorite Starbucks. I've been eating Jersey Mikes for many years and always cheering and recommending people I know and strangers to the Jersey Mike subs over Subways. Telling everyone that Jersey Mikes is definitely quality and gives more. But up until today, Jersey Mike has been very unpleasant to me. I've been coming here for my usual giant veggies with several chips to go with my sandwiches for the past months or so and today in the early evening of a little pass 5pm or so on Wednesday February 26, 2025 was a disappointment. Usually the guys make my sandwiches for me and give me fair amounts of veggies. Today was a huge disappointment, not only do the staff like to talk into the food (my sandwich) to other customers or to me, I can't stand anyone talking in my food especially while making my food. I don't do that to people and expect the same back. The other huge disappointment is they were so low on green bell peppers today to none that they didn't even know they were low and not order more ahead of time which they should've prior checked their inventory. What kind of management is that? As the girl staff was making my sandwich, no offense to her but I tell it as it is, she put the least amount of lettuce and veggies that all I could taste was the bread. I've never had a Jersey Mike sub that was this bad. All the other branches I go to in Gardena, Torrance, etc, all give me good amounts of veggies that I can actually taste the whole sub not just the bread. The girl staff made my sandwich like she was either stingy or fearful or just don't know how to make a sub in general. Put that girl in better training of making a sub better. I've become a regular here and today, I was hungry and wasted my $30 plus money just to taste only the bread itself and not enough veggies. I want a refund or compensation. I had paid for the giant veggie sub, 4 chips, and a box of cookies. I just want refund/compensation to the next time I'm there again (not to my address to mail anything to me because I don't give my address to anyone especially when I don't know you) on the giant sub with tax total because the sub was so unpleasant to eat. This is the only location that I have had a problem getting my app order on time. Today was the fourth time I placed an order at least 30 min before my pick up time and showed up and my order had not even been started. I've had to ask for a refund and they don't care. I give them plenty of time but they insist on taking everyone in line before app orders. I was told "sorry we have people I line." What is the point of taking app orders if this is how you run a business. After I talk to others about this I find other people have had the same problem. I love these sandwiches but counting on this for meals and now not having any food is not a way to run a very successful location. I had never tried Jersey Mikes before because i used to go to subway a lot but somewhere in time i stopped going because i felt the quality was lowered so when i heard about Jersey Mikes i was skeptical So i ended up staying at the Fairfield hotel and out of curiosity decided to check this place out and boy was i glad i did I tried the #13 (original Italian) Mikes Way and man oh man was it good, it hits different when you try it "mikes way" This is no ordinary sub! Not only was the food, the quality of ingredients good but the service was really good too! A few months ago, I filed a complaint with this Jersey Mike's and received no response. During my visit, while taking my order, an employee shook his trash bag and said "Have a good day, sir," even though it was obvious I am female. Other customers noticed and looked confused. This is our usual Friday night dinner spot. Not embarrassed to say we're hooked lol.. my wife always orders the #17 Philly cheese. And I try to vary my sandwiches and to this day my favorites have to be the chicken philly, and the club sub. I try to order a new sandwich every week but it's hard to change when my two favorites are sooooo good.. lol. Is it cheap no but tell me something that's cheap nowadays. I always order the giant because it'll feed me for 2 days. The people here are always courteous and knowledgeable. Today for example I came in and ordered a turkey and provolone and asked if they could add roast beef. The employee told me just get a 9 and save some money. After I he said that I said to myself "duh" lol and thanked him. It's those small details that keeps us coming back every week. Went for lunch on a Friday afternoon Parking: walked here but they share a lot with Ralph's so you shouldn't have issues. Wait: afternoon rush few people ahead of me. Not too busy. Food: 2.5/5 got an Italian on white. I learned that they do not toast the bread. Never had Jersey mikes before so sorry for my ignorance. Meats were thinly sliced but not heavily packed. Each bite had like a 80% bread to meat ratio which.. not great. Service: 2/5 they had 3 guys manning the sandwich prep area and one guy paying people out. For some reason 2 of the guys just disappeared from the prep stations. So one guy cut all the bread for everyone in line but no one made the rest. Had to wait around for seemingly nothing. Environment: 3/5 store was clean. People were spaced. What you would expect from a chain sub shop. Overall, getting charged $10 for a sandwich half the size of subways seems high. The shop is conveniently located in the big shopping center and it has its own little parking space and for right now it's not crowded. We walked in to a bright friendly shop. The energy in there was cool, loved the staff and their taste in music! ;) Seems like it was an all lady crew when I went in this past Friday around noon! The wait was reasonable however when I got to the counter and placed my order I was pretty specific I want to know number 43 with no onions. My sandwich was made with onions. I asked for a drink and chips and they forgot that also. But, that was not my worst problem... After taking the sandwich back to my hotel and eating a few pieces I bit into a huge chunk of bone. My teeth are already on the fritz so this was rather painful. I removed that piece of bone, threw it away, and chalked it up to a bad piece and kept eating... More bone fragments... I swear the longer it sits wrapped up, the better it tastes. It's like the oils and spices have a chance to soak in (marinade if you will). My sandwich of choice is the ever popular turkey and it never fails to satisfy. Let's talk logistics for a moment. This location is a bit smaller than typical but it gets the job done. Don't fret if you see a line because they move through the sandwich building process like a well oiled machine. Meats and cheeses are sliced fresh when you order. Parking is the main challenge here but there are usually spots to be found. No door dings people, please. Don't want bread? Try a Sub In A Tub. UPDATE** I'm giving them another star - fastest response from the business & I really do appreciate that they care! I will give it another try and the service was very satisfactory. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time. Heard lots of good and just Ok comments from friends about it. My verdict: It's alright. I'm on the Ok side. I wasn't that impressed and although I liked my veggie sandwich (Mike's specialty) I hate to say that, but that's just me. Other people love the sh%( out of it. Had it loaded up with everything they could pile on it and BUH BAAM! An excellent sandwich. The bread is lite and tastes like bread rather than a shoe sole (your choice white or wheat). The meat was piled on and the whole thing just tasted like heaven. Since this was my 1st visit, it seemed that their biggest hits are the cold sandwiches. The selection is pretty decent. I truly hate leaving a poor review. To be clear we have eaten at numerous jersey mikes at many different locations around the USA. Some how i ended up here tonight because my partner called that it was late and to lets have a Jersey Mikes tonight and to get the usual #13. It was the closest location off 105 and to my home otherwise we usually go to the one on Rosecrans next to Hawthorne Costco. Bottom line here's what happened. It started when you know when something is wrong when you get that bad gut feeling. Walked in around 9:45pm on 10-8-18. A young man comes out to serve me. Asked what kind of bread i wanted and said white. He than gets it and cuts it in half. I had to correct him that it was the full bread not half a sandwich. He then gets a second full loaf and it was obvious half the bread looked like it was squeezed and puny looking. So i ask him could i get a loaf that doesn't looked squeezed or badly distorted. And he did. I ordered the #13 so it all goes well adding each set of cheese and meats. It was when i went to pay that gave me the first red flag. He handled the money with the plastic gloves still on. Then i asked for a recipient since i didnt get one. Then it was after i left and was driving home that i processed the whole interaction again in my head. It was a gut feeling something was off. Way off. It was then i realized that he appears and looked as though he came out of kitchen with the same gloves on and did not change them. The gloves looked worn and not new. Concern number two is he had a gash or cut on his forehead that exposed the flesh. No kidding. Seriously. And not covered up. It was the touching the money that triggered my first concern. I just could not get myself to share the sandwich with my partner when i got home. Part of me said to just forget about it and let it go and just eat it. Couldn't do it even though we were hungary as heck. It just didnt feel right. The full sandwich is still in wrapper untouched here in my house. I never had a bad feeling about a Jersey Mike until tonight. I wanted to go back but i didnt want to make a scene and besides it was after 10pm when i realized it. I was also sort of picky when assembling the sandwich. Everything had to be right including being short one tomato at the end and asking him to add one more. I just did nit wabt to go back there and cause a scene or drama. I even left a 2 dollar tip to show my appreciation for his patience before i could fully process the entire encounter. Wow. I know it was an extremely long day and was a bit tired. Some how I sould have been more verbal and demanded that the gloves be changed. I have requested that before at different restaurants. Last thing i dont want to get ill from improper food handling. Dont know why i didnt do this and just speak up. It was the end of a very long day. I dont like writing negative stuff but i was really disappointed with this whole situation. Now I have to be inconvenienced and find a way to return the sandwich. Not the way to end my long day. Update 10-16-18: Corporate as you can see responded with there standard prescripted response. I emailed them and got another prescripted response. It really is a waste of time to email them. Bottom line they didnt do anything to make up for my lost time and tip to return the sandwich. Even the manager or supervisor who handled the refund had semi-concerned attitude. I have only been here twice so far but will be back. It is one of the lunch options nearby an office building I frequent. For a fast food sandwich, it is SO much better than Subway. And for a fast food sandwich, Jersey Mike's does a good job replicating NJ style sandwiches which being from NY and a west coast transplant, I really miss. The first time I visited it was in the evening and they weren't very busy. The guy who made my sandwich was really cool and nice and all my quirks (no veggies, can you sub this meat out for this, only vinegar) were all accommodated absolutely no problem. The second time I came was prime lunch time and they had a long line. But they were actually pretty efficient in getting trough the line. Yey! This is key for lunch breaks where you really do not have a lot of time to waste in line. They slice the cold cuts as you order your sandwich which is awesome and the bread is pretty good too which I find one of the most challenging aspects of getting a sandwich in SoCal.
