    Finished Back Patio

Art did an excellent job tiling our front porch, original review below. So when it came time to tile our unfinished 400 sq ft back patio, I knew he was the person I wanted to use and therefore did not even bother to get any other quotes! I had to wait a few months for his schedule to free up, but I knew it would be worth the wait. We have an outdoor kitchen built into the patio, as well as stucco pillars on two of the corners. For design, I choose 8x8 hex tiles with a 12x24 border tile, so all of these elements complicated the design install. Before cutting and installing tile, Art went to great lengths designing the layout, so edges lined up, the pattern looked symmetrical and I didn't end up with random small bits of tile to finish edges. He also made sure to install the tile as close as possible to the stucco pillars while allowing for a drainage channel around the stucco. For a grout decision, he created a few grout boards for me with different colors, so it made it easier to see what the final realized grout color would look like. He kept me updated on the way with questions and feedback so I could make design decision changes as needed along the way. I've added before and after photos and in summary, couldn't be happier with the finished install and have had great comments from guests on the finished project. Art takes a lot of pride in his work, will take the time to do it properly and will keep you updated along the way to ensure you are happy with progress and therefore the final product. As a repeat customer, I'd highly recommend him, even if you have to wait a few months as he is a sole contractor, it's worth it!

The shower in our newly purchased home was leaking- we asked Art to come and give us an estimate to repair. After removing tiles, we came to the conclusion the shower had to be completely redone. Art provided tons of info on the different options, worked closely with my spouse to come up with a wonderful (and practical) design and installed it with impeccable attention to details. He is also very careful with dust, protecting all our floors all the way to the garage, regularly checking in for any question /choice. He was able to reuse our glass shower door, saving several $100s. Would absolutely reuse with no hesitation.

If Yelp let you give someone 20,000 stars, I would. We had a fantastic experience with Art as we dealt with a previous homeowner's horrifically atrocious DIY remodel of the master shower. The homeowner did just about everything wrong (including choosing ugly tiles), and Art masterfully diagnosed the problem and rebuilt the shower with excellent craftsmanship and above-and-beyond helpfulness. Art was very generous and thorough with giving advice and a diagnosis of the problem (with a few different options depending on how thoroughly we wanted to deal with it), and when the problems turned out to be worse than anyone could have known (requiring a total rebuild), he was able to fix everything with great skill and attention to detail. He was very tidy, communicative, and personable. Unlike other tile contractors I'd contacted, Art was very careful to thoroughly examine the shower before diagnosis, and clearly knew what he was talking about. He was careful to preserve the surrounding tile and glass. He also is very good with design-thinking, helping you to come up with something beautiful and purposeful. Until my dying day, I will gladly tell anyone and everyone in Austin to hire Art with confidence!

I've worked with Art on two projects - a master bath renovation and kitchen floor retiling - and I cannot recommend him enough! The best things about Art include: - His one-man, one-project approach: Art is entirely committed to one project at a time, which means that you are his sole focus for as long as it takes. He doesn't hire out parts of the job and is a "jack of all trades" in that he can do plumbing, electrical, and woodwork in addition to tile. He only brings in an expert if necessary and has trusted contacts. -Thorough estimate process and detailed quote: Art spent at least 30 minutes with me examining each project, talking through options, and anticipating potential challenges. He then sent a detailed, line-by-line quote so we knew exactly what to expect for both labor and estimated materials cost. -Great communication throughout: from initial contact, quoting, and day-to-day during the project, Art is responsive and communicative through email and text. We always knew when he would show up and what he was working on. - Educates and informs his clients: Art is great at explaining the details of what is going on in an easy-to-understand way so that I could make informed decisions. He presents options, pros / cons, and his take, so that I always felt confident in how we moved forward. - Easygoing, enjoyable, and respectful of your space: Art is kind and considerate - he does everything he can to avoid significant disruption while you're in the home, cleans up thoroughly after each day, and is just nice to be around! - Quality work and attention to detail: Art is fastidious and takes pride in his work. He is committed to both aesthetic and structural integrity of the final output. We are super happy with both projects!

We are very lucky we found Art. Not just because he does the work at an honest price without the ridiculous "Austin" inflation - but because he truly cares about what he's doing - and wants to make sure you are happy every step of the way. Honestly, he's so good and so sought after, we are thankful he was able to fit in our project in. Being this good makes him a busy man. So, if you need a shower remodel - we could not recommend Art enough. His attention to detail is unmatched. Explains everything he does so you're involved in logical, collaborative decision making. A true artist and perfectionist- no other contractor would ever be so concerned about the littlest details - and a super nice guy to boot.

I found Art though a Yelp search and am so grateful! My husband and I recently purchased our first home and it is in need of quite a few renovations and upgrades. Our first priority was knocking down a wall from the dining room to the living room. Art came by to take a look before we closed and was able to get us an estimate quickly. In turn, we were able to schedule with him to get started on the demo shortly after we closed on the house. The inspection and estimate provided by Art were thorough and we felt prepared when it came time for demo. The final result is exactly what we were hoping for and we LOVE how open our living area feels now. We have since scheduled with Art to install the first batch of new cabinets and a countertop in our kitchen. Again, the estimate and pre-demo visit helped clarify what all would be done and what we could expect after demolition. While I am still undecided on what we want to do for our backsplash, we are so impressed with how the kitchen looks now. Art went above and beyond on this job. And we've already requested an estimate for our next home improvement task! I am the property manager for several investments properties here in Austin, I have used Art for a variety of tenant maintenance requests and have been completely satisfied with every step of the process in getting our tenants scheduled, serviced, and invoicing. I have even had tenants contact me to ask for Art's contact info so they could refer him to friends! Art provides thorough communication and timely service. I know the job will be done well and Art will find a creative solution for any parts of the job that might not go as expected. We've taken on several major renovations so far and in hiring Art, we don't have to worry!

Back Splash, Stove Top and Microwave installed by Art

I've never experienced the level of quality, professionalism and care provided by Art, in collaborating with us to define and design what we wanted, then working to create our perfect kitchen. We are extremely happy with our new kitchen. We found Art on Yelp. We wanted to redo our kitchen when our stove top stopped working. We'd previously purchased a new refrigerator and oven that are stainless steal. Our old appliances; sink, dishwasher, etc., were all white. All cabinets were brown and there was no back splash. So we thought we might as well just redo the rest of the kitchen since everything was about to be stainless steal. We couldn't have had a better experience with the remodeling project thanks to Art.He not only provided a concise bid, he did so in regard to multiple material options. We decided on woodblock counter and island tops. Our choice had to be stripped, stained and sealed... he did it after creating several samples first to ensure we were on the right tract in relation to the color scheme we wanted.. The whole experience was like that, we had ideas, he had ideas, we discussed them with Art and decided what to implement together with him. The price never changed.... and He never let us down. Art's Unparalleled Service included: - Transparency! There were no surprises, unless we asked to be surprised - We shopped, then he purchased and picked up everything other than what we wanted to get personally. It didn't matter what materials we chose or where we shopped. - He supplied us with receipts for everything, totally less than the original bid! - He installed appliances, moved electrical outlets (installed one in the island), no extra fee! - He hauled off and discarded old appliances and materials, no extra charge! - He recommended the painter - WoodCo Paint and Wall Coverings - Awesome! - We felt/knew that our home was his priority until we were satisfied - He supplied a written schedule of activities (what he'd completed each day and planned for the next day), until we made him stop... because we came to trust him beyond reproach. - We have a "Lifetime Guarantee" on the counter-tops and back splash We can't wait to bring Art back for the next project.

During the bid process he took the time to explain our options for materials and design and once we decided he was quick to send us a formal bid. in the weeks between the bid and install he kept us updated w/ pictures of our desk being built. We moved into a new house on the east side of Austin several months ago. While we'd had our builder…read moreinstall built-in desks and shelves in our study, we found the cost very high (and the quality lacking). Our 14' long living room wall looked very stark with its small TV cabinet and wall-mounted TV set, and we realized we needed something more in proportion with the room. So I looked on Yelp and found Josh Hager...and followed up with his website. I was impressed with the size of the projects he tackled, so figured he might be able to do a good job for us. Josh responded quickly to my first e-mail and came over within a matter of days to give us an estimate. He looked over my drawings and came up fairly quickly with a cost I found reasonable. Josh inspired so much confidence that we asked him that same evening to look at another space (upstairs) that needed a built-in. Once again, the estimate was reasonable. A week or so later, we thought of another project Josh could tackle: our master closet. Again, a reasonable estimate. We gave him deposits for all three projects. Josh is very busy, and with good reason. He does excellent work at reasonable prices, is totally honest and does not inflate the costs of materials. He uses good-quality materials (no MDF, thank heavens!) And Josh makes recommendations that improve on whatever you might have in mind, based on his breadth of experience. It's all about quality at a reasonable price. Josh uses great hinges on cabinet doors; soft close and push-button removable. Further, his estimates for both materials and labor, at least in our case, were spot-on relative to what we ended up paying. We felt it was worth waiting a few months before Josh could get to our project. Our largest projects were installed by Josh and a helper in a couple of days. The paint-grade wood and great workmanship made the wall units look so nice that we were tempted to leave them unpainted. We actually did leave the interiors of the cabinets unpainted...and they look great. Josh was able to connect us with a painting company to do the finish work within a week or so after he completed installation. The end results were phenomenal; the cabinets Josh built totally changed the look and feel of our rooms in a good way. The quality of his work and the scale of the project made the cabinets a focal point in our living room. We are very pleased and won't hesitate to call Josh again if we need any wood work. Lastly, it's now been about 4 years since our cabinets were installed and painted. I've updated my rating to 5 stars due to how well the cabinets have performed for us over the years. Side comment: I find it odd that so many reviews were screened out, given I can tell many (if not most) are legitimate, based on photos on the Triple Crown website.

Met with Nate in about a built in desk and a built in entertainment center in December and he told me he was booked 2-3weeks out. I said, sure no problem, we can handle it in January. Come mid January, he tells me he needs more time. I say sure. Come February I reach out and no answer. Called, emailed and texted, still no answer (mind you I had already given 50% down to him). Finally after not hearing from him for almost 3 weeks he responded and saying he was just getting started on building the cabinets. It's now mid-March and he finally got to installing the units. But don't expect him to arrive at the time he says. He was consistently 2-3 hours late to the time he promised to be here (which required us to adjust work schedules). First day he arrived at 2:30pm after saying he would be here at noon and then had to come back on a Sunday because he couldn't finish it all in one day. Now that's just the communications part, as for the quality of the work. I have been very disappointed. I had asked for a 1.5" wood top on my desk. After install I've noticed it's a single 3/4" plywood top with an additional 3/4" plywood strip on the front to make it look like it's 1.5". Not only that but because it's plywood there are obvious seams on the desktop. And the front is covered with a veneer which bubbled in multiple places and even though he came to glue it back down still does not look great. There are seams in multiple places where he could have easily gone with a full piece of dimensional lumber instead. There are screws protruding on the side of the cabinets which are the only sides that face out so would have expected the screws to be hidden. He left part of one of the tops uneven, even though I brought to his attention before the painters came, so he had to come back out and fix it and the painters had to come back out and fix the paint again. Also when he put in the shelves after the paint (because he didn't have the shelf pins and had to order from amazon), he scratched up the paint pretty badly in pretty obvious places. I've worked in construction as my dad was a contractor and I fully understand things happen or sometimes things don't work out as planned but for the price I paid I would have expected much higher quality and less chasing to get this completed.

I had been meaning to do a bunch of repairs on my house (which is just about 13 years old and remediated 6 years ago) and was trying to reach out to different people to do different jobs with varying levels of success. The result was a backlog of things to do and coordinate with different parties. I originally reached out to David for some help with repairing a shower door that had fallen off. He replied quickly and showed up to do his estimate as scheduled. While he was over, he looked at a bunch of the other things that I needed to have done and offered to do them as well. He repaired everything in one day only a few days later. I have to applaud David for his courage to start his own business. But this makes sense for him. He knows he is good at what he does and he is organized. He is highly professional in his correspondence. He will outline precisely what he intends to do. He is timely. He is versatile in the tasks that he can perform. He possesses initiative. And he will follow-up with thorough documentation of what was done and needs to be done. Payment is also easy and he accepts a number of modalities. I have attached some of the pictures he took for the various jobs including: 1. Window blind replacement 2. Water valve and supply line replacement (more details below) 3. Ceiling fan remote control failure diagnosis 4. Watersealing of door threshold (more details below) 5. Tub spout repair 6. Shower door repair and adjustment (I contacted a bunch of people who would not offer to do this) 7. Sliding door repair (which another contractor said they would fix but never did) I want to comment in particular on his ability to diagnose problems. For the longest time, my kitchen faucet had slow flow. Just the kitchen faucet. Over the years, I contacted perhaps 3-4 different plumbing companies. They recommended ridiculous things like increasing the water pressure to the house (which didn't make a lot of sense given that the other faucets were fine and was impossible because the pressure was already maximized) and even replacing the faucet altogether (which would cost $220 for the same model and not resolve the underlying problem). David diagnosed the problem as excess calcium build-up in the valves and he was right! He knew the answer when all the professional "tradesmen" did not. I also have what some people would call a "lemon" for a house. The contractors that built it did bad job. It was remediated but even after this remediation, I had problems. One of them was the balcony door which would leak water when it rained. I contacted the builder and they said that my second warranty had expired and they recommended how to repair it. Suffice to say that they were completely wrong and David uncovered some pretty shoddy workmanship and commented on the unorthodox remediation which would lead to the problem. I should have had David remediate my house. Overall, I am exceedingly happy to have stumbled upon this gentleman and would be pleased to refer him to others. He is basically the "doctor" you want for your house. I hope he stays in business a long time.
