This is great casual place to get delicious grub for a good price. My friends and I started by sharing an order of fried cheese sticks. They do provolone instead of the usual mozzarella and beer battered instead of panko. Good decisions. These were fantastic - Gooey, flavorful Cheese with a light, crunchy exterior. Sunday-Tuesdays they have Burger Madness. $8.99 for a patty covered with any of the $0.50 and $1 toppings. The only rule - no more than 6 cheeses. I opted for double cheddar, double provolone, double Swiss and bacon. Talk about awesome! My burger came with sweet potato fries and this incredible curry dipping sauce! So good!! I have been to Arthur's a few times. Here is the gist: It is a fun atmosphere in Arthur's. Burgers are their main deal, but there are a lot of other options too. I would say go with the burger. Although I enjoyed the salad I got here last time, it wasn't nearly as good as their hamburgers. They also have a full bar (including a beer brewed just for them). Service was good the last time we came. Although it isn't an overly large restaurant, they accommodated our larger party well and were ok with us bringing in quite a few children. Great thing to keep in mind when going. Really cool atmosphere here and a nice outside seating area for warmer months. The burgers are thick juicy and made to order. They never disappoint. The Tall Stack is my go to burger of choice. You also have to try the fried cheese for an appitizer. One of the best Apps in the city hands down. I would give it less than a 1 but not able. Horrible disgusting food, we wasted $39. Should have know when we went to be seated saw the cook with no mask walking around in the kitchen. My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was thin and dry with no taste buffalo sauce no taste. We ordered the fried cheese which use to so good and it was nothing but grease. I ordered potato skins. The bacon was not real bacon ugly disgusting taste. The edges of the potatoes were so dried out and hard that I really thought I broke a tooth when biting into one. Arthur's is a great, family-friendly spot in Hyde Park with an enormous range of great burgers to choose from. The inside has a classic neighborhood feel to it, complete with a mural depicting friendly Cincinnati faces. Out back, there is a small but lovely patio covered in greenery. Here's a place to hang out on weekends, if you can get through the door. Arthur's is the worst kept secret in Hyde Park, the spot where EVERYONE thinks, "I'll watch the game, meet my friends, and have a nice little evening out." More typically the place is on a wait by 5 pm, and the bar is elbow-to-elbow all night. If you actually want to eat here, do it at off-peak hours like DLW and I did at mid-afternoon on a Saturday. It is a cool little interior, with murals of Cincinnati celebs from years past on the walls. I'm not from around here, so I had no idea who most of them were. Tables are pretty tight, and the servers use a switch system that looks to be 40 years old to see which are occupied. They are well staffed, and service is very good. Burgers are the thing here. You can choose some ready-made combos or build your own. I chose the Boursin burger, with the classic soft cheese on top of a hefty beef patty. They will cook it to temperature, as any good burger place will, but you have to ask for onion and mayo if you want them. It was a good burger, not life-changing but satisfying. Fries were done properly, evidently twice-cooked, and nicely crisp without batter, which is how I like them. They're committed to local brews, which is great, although it was too early for me to have a beer. It's not a cheap option, but it's much nicer than a dive bar. Arthur's is usually a hit or miss. We've gotten takeout from here several times in the past. Lately it doesn't seem to matter how cooked we order the burgers, it's more often inconsistent with what we order. When cooked right, the burgers are very good. But at this point, we've had more misses than hits. Our medium burgers have been overdone at times, undercooked at other times, and as bad as completely rare such as this weekend. We had to recook the burgers at home so we wouldn't get sick from raw beef. The employees we saw were not wearing masks either, which is unfortunate to see in the food service industry especially with Covid cases rising to record high numbers. This spot is in Hyde Park and I'd say that there is way more to it than the burgers that it's categorized under. I was here on a Saturday in February. Or that day, the temperatures reached in the 70s, so it brought people out of the woodwork. I'm not sure if it's the norm to wait an hour for a table for three on a Saturday, but that was my experience. Side note... what's up with the caricatures on the wall? After the hour wait, our pager lit up and we approached the hostess and then she asked if outside seating was ok. I felt like if I didn't say yes, that I would be put back on the list, so we all agreed to sit outside. The outside seating was in the back. Service was a tad slow, but they were super busy, so that was acceptable. I ordered the loaded cheese fries and once they were brought to the table and nobody else ate them, I made a meal of them and didn't order an entree. Their burger menu is really amazing, and you can make your own beautiful burger masterpiece. I ended up ordering the California Cobb burger with avocado, bacon, and melty blue cheese. It was simply perfect...The burger is gigantic, oozing blue cheese everywhere, juice running down my arm, cooked perfectly (I ordered mine medium well). I couldn't ask for anything more. Arthur's is a lovely little neighborhood establishment in the heart of Hyde Park Square. They have ample seating, a gorgeous patio area with both a lower and upper level and BURGER MADNESS! $8.99 gets you the burger of your choice (Arthur's patty, Sally patty, turkey burger or spicy black bean), cooked to order with as many of the normal everyday toppings you want. Oh wait...they cut you off at six cheeses but I'm pretty sure your heart would cut you off at five anyway. = ) Before I forget...Arthur's kitchen is open til midnight every evening. Score! They have a decent beer selection, wine and a full bar. I've never been disappointed when I've been aside from the wait as this place can get realllllly crowded. The rest of the menu has always looked delicious but I always get a burger. I just can't help it... In my opinion Arthur's is way better than Zip's, way better than Gordo's and even better than the other burger joint down the road which relies on neon signs and reputation to bully other burger joints around. (I've found that particular establishment to be delicious but inconsistent. In that I mean TTC's meat is sometimes dry with a dull peppery overtone. I've had that experience with every trip to Gordo's which is why I won't be back a fourth time.) So there you have it. It took me a long time (30-40 minutes) to finally come to the decision on who has the best burger in Cincinnati. But I have made my decision and it is Arthur's. Here is a short list of my 3 favorites things at Arthur's - 1. Hamburger 2. Hamburger with cheese (aka cheeseburger) 3. Hamburger with cheese and bacon (aka The Last Supper on a bun) My point here is that Arthur's delivers when it comes to hamburgers. I've tried all the local places that are known for burgers and although Gordo's comes in a close second and McDonald's a close third (I'm kidding of course), nothing beats Arthur's burgers. Part of what makes Arthur's the best in the city is the value. Not only are you getting ridiculously bomb food but you're getting it at an incredibly low price. Case in point - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday is Burger Madness. You can get a burger and fries with whatever you want on it for $7.99. And when I say whatever you want I mean it. The last time I went I sampled a burger with american, cheddar, swiss, provolone, pepperjack, and blue cheese. And although I probably shortened my life by a good two days and was constipated for a full week, I'd say for $7.99 I was the big winner. Also Monday-Friday from 4-7 is happy hour which means $2 off appetizers. If there is one appetizer worth getting it's the fried cheese. It's thick and crispy and delicious and easily the best fried cheese I've ever had anywhere. Seriously, if I could roll it up, I'd smoke it, it's that good. If you go when the weather is favorable make sure you check out their Paris cafe style patio, it's pretty money and you would never guess that you're in the middle of Hyde Park or just 45 minutes away from Dayton, Ohio (eww, Dayton). read more

I have always enjoyed Arthur's, but in the winter I'd only give it 3 stars because the seating is so tight. But when you can enjoy the New Orleans-esque patio with Christmas lights and gas-lit lanterns, I'll throw in another star strictly for the ambiance. Arthur's is known for it's burgers, but for some reason I was drawn to the Grilled Gouda sandwich. The waitress described it as "light," and if I can get a "light" grilled cheese, I can't pass it up. Unfortunately, the sandwich was not ooey-gooey hot when it came out, which is the only way to properly serve grilled cheese. I know gouda is a hard cheese, and therefore harder to melt, but there has to be a way to get it hot without burning the bread. Get on that. The sandwich also had bacon, tomato, and spinach, but I left out the spinach. My husband's burger, however, was a "great burger." Believe me, this is high praise from my husband, who could never cut it as a Yelp reviewer. 99% of the time he describes his meal as "just alright." Next time I will for sure order the Boursin cheeseburger, and not think twice about it! For being a burger joint, Arthur's doesn't even have their main dish down to an acceptable level. I ordered an original burger at a Medium level of "doneness" and my burger was bleeding! My fiance's burger had the same situation going on. There was bright red liquid dripping on to my plate and soaking into the bun. Gross. I shudder to think what Medium Rare looks like to them. The meat itself was completely tasteless. At least add a little salt to your burger meat! I ended up slathering on mayo and then later dipping my burger in ketchup because it was so bland. I also ordered a cup of tomato basil soup and it was disgustingly over salted. I ended up only eating the oyster crackers that had a little bit of soup on it. Been here several times recently as my BFF lives right down the street, and I'm never disappointed. Usually coming for the burgers and beers, but had just apps last time and they were awesome too! Got the Wonton Poppers with the "pink salsa" (my best guess there is salsa mixed with some sour cream... whatever it was.. NOM) and they were to die. Also had the Gourmet Burger with roasted red peps and pesto mayo... also a big NOM. Draft beer selection is 5 or 6 local craft brews (only local on draft), along with an Arthur's home brew - Qwitcherbitchin - which may be in my top 3 fave beers - it's freaking amazing. Also a great selection of bottle beers. They have some happy hour specials before 6 on weekdays, but they recently scaled it back a bit because of some local kids that were abusing it apparently, so no more half price apps... Service is always good- laid back, friendly and quick, never waited for anything for longer than a couple of minutes it seems. Also knowledgeable about the menu and the beers on tap. The thing I love most about Arthur's is the atmosphere- casual, laid back, down to earth peeps and a great time. They also have a patio out back that is great. Holy cow! Apparently after over six months of living here, I didn't know that Arthur's was the place to be on Friday night! On the cold December night, the place was packed with all types including families and an extensive younger crowd as well. As with going to any restaurant in Hyde Park square, parking was a pain, even if you do know about the secret parking area behind Arthur's. You can always park on a side street and walk, but with the freezing temperatures last night, we opted out. Arthur's is a place that it seems locals love, and it does seem to have a lot of character. The mural on the wall to the left when you first walk in is full of caricatures of famous Cincinnati residents, and the walls are painted like you're in a castle. The booths are wood with old looking pads on the bottom. They also have a jukebox- how fun! When the weather is nice, it is hard to beat the back patio. Not great on a view, but isn't it always nice to be outside when the weather is pleasant? The girl who seated us asked us if she could get us anything to drink. After taking a quick look at the long beer list, I asked for her opinion. She was helpful and helped me pick out a good beer. It seemed like a great place to go to try different types of beer, and they even had something where you could try four beers in little glasses. Surprisingly, they had many vegetarian options including fish tacos, a black bean burger, and fish sandwich. I tried the tuna salad croissant. It came with fries, which I'm sure you could substitute if you were interested. If you don't like extra "stuff" in your tuna salad, it may not be for you. Filled with eggs, celery, walnuts, raisins, and relish, for some reason it seemed to have an abrasive almost vinegary taste to me. Also, it was almost twice the size of my hand. No joke. We came in around 2 pm, so the lunch rush had gone down significantly, but the tables were so close together I can't imagine it'd be easy on the waitstaff to maneuver around them when it's busier. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She suggested we get the Fried Cheese as an appetizer, and we fell in love with it! It was a slightly different take on mozzarella sticks, and came out super fresh. Now on to the main dish: their burgers. I am 100 per cent in favor of Burger Madness, which I believe happens any time of the day during Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. For $8.99 you can get as many toppings as you want on one of their burgers at no additional charge. I usually like my burger medium, but our waitress told us they under cook their burgers more than most places, so I ordered it medium-well. I'd advise anyone to order your burger how you usually do, because they didn't come out like our waitress described. It's completely okay though, because our burgers were otherwise awesome. They were so big I could only finish about half of it. I also got a side of cajun fries, which were spicy and well seasoned. Excellent burgers! Seeing burgers were their claim to fame, my wife and I both got one. I ordered the Arthur burger, which is a half pound 90/10 hamburger. My wife got a specialty burger with barbecue sauce. Both burgers were juicy and full of flavor. As a note, the specialty burgers are all half pound as well, so if your appetite isn't up to it, get their small patty. The buffalo chicken wonton bites and my sweet potato fries were great as well. We sat inside and were seated as soon as we walked in, but there was a 40 minute wait to sit outside. If you want to enjoy their patio, make sure you make it early. From the moment we walked in, the hostess seemed rather uncaring, stared off into the distance as she asked how many and sat us into an empty booth. We were greeted by several waiters afterwards who were friendly but we couldn't tell who our primary waitress was. Once we got our drinks we reviewed the menu and I remembered a friend told me to try the fried cheese. At $7.50 an order it was an ok price for the serving size but I think I'll be sticking to regular mozzarella sticks. The large portion of deep fried, greasy globs of cheese had a predictable flavor but as I chewed, the cheese hardened and the grease remained in my mouth which needed to be washed down with the generous amounts of coke that seemed to regenerate on the table as soon as our glasses hit the half point mark. I decided to order the Blackened Blue Burger ($8.75) with lettuce, grilled onions, pickles and tomato. Eric ordered the classic Arthurs Burger ($8.00). I was excited to try the whipped bleu cheese and Cajun seasoning concoction but again I was disappointed. There wasn't enough bleu cheese to cover the burger and though the menu stated there was a liberal amount of cajun seasoning, I couldn't taste any. Both our burgers were ordered medium, the burgers themselves were dry but the bottom buns were somehow soggy. Eric's classic burger did not have any special flavor and I think the homemade burgers we made last week tasted way better. The French fries were crisp, salted, hot and delicious but that was the only real upside to our visit. The hype over Arthur's burgers did not live up to itself. I'd be willing to try something else at a later date as well as try the bartenders but burger-wise, Terry's and Zip's outdoes Arthur's by a mile. read more

Arthurs isn't quite a pub or a restaurant, but somewhere between the two. On the one side of the place is mostly restaurant tables, while the other has the bar....with more tables. So it's really more of a sit-down restaurant-type feel and has the food to match. This is one of the more reasonably-priced locations in Hyde Park and the food tends to be at the upper aspect of the pub-food scale. On my most recent visit, I wasn't particularly hungry and was mostly looking for a beer. So we had appetizers: I had the soup of the day while my friend had the spinach and artichoke dip. The soup of the day (chicken noodle!) was fine and the artichoke dip and spinach was rather good. The spinach chips were a little bit more flaky and chewy than I expected, which was a nice surprise. One of the more underrated things about Arthurs is that it's a pretty good place to catch a game. It doesn't have the loud atmosphere of a sports bar and it doesn't have a big Jumbotron-type screen. But it does have TVs scattered across the room and it's almost impossible to find a bad seat where you don't have at least a decent view of the screen. I'm convinced that someone had to sit down and spend a lot of time working out the sight-lines in this place. read more

I'm pretty sure if Arthur's wasn't here, Hyde Park might break away and float into the stratosphere and be lost in the ether of yuppiness forever. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. It's got everything I like and nothing I don't. The food is great, better than typical bar fare without crossing over to the dark side into the ridiculous category of "gastropub." The burgers, their specialty, are top-notch. There are a number of gussied up options, as well as just the standard burger with cheese. I've tried a bunch of them and have never been disappointed. The Black and Bleu burger is my favorite. And, unlike a lot of places (I'm looking at you, Zip's) at Arthur's they cook 'em to order, so if you like, you can have your Black and Bleu burger red, too. It's not just about the burgers, though. They've got great wings, potato skins, pizzas, and even the ahi tuna tacos (which might seem out of place) are good for a lighter dinner. I've also got a weakness for Ruebens, and Arthur's pulls theirs off with all the tangy sloppiness that such a delicious culinary abomination requires. The service is always attentive without being hovering or snooty. The bar, while it doesn't have the bazillion beers on tap that Cock and Bull does, is well-stocked, and the bartenders know their business. Arthur's is the kind of place that knows what it is, and it knows what it's not. It's the perfect neighborhood spot to relax, eat a great meal, and have a few drinks without having to worry if the guy next to you is secretly judging you on the sophistication of your beverage choice. I cannot lie, I love this place. I know it's a really small detail but I'm a sucker for places with fountain drinks and homemade cherry or vanilla syrup. Well this place has both. On top of that they have an amazing appetizer called fried cheese and well, it is even better than you can imagine. The burger choices are amazing and if you go during burger madness you can get a steal for your meal. I ended up getting a classic cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and bacon and a side of barbecue and it was such a juicy burger. They will let you know that medium well is more like a medium burger so if you want it done all the way through you need to get it well done. But even then mine still had a little bit of pink in it but still incredibly juicy and delicious. The atmosphere is amazing and you feel like one of the neighbors just stopping in for a bite to eat. Yes, it's not the healthiest thing ever, but it's so good!! The sticks themselves are very big for your typical mozzarella sticks. They taste just made as well, which is always a bonus. I got the turkey croissant club, which was very good. The turkey looked like it was carved off fresh, think thanksgiving. So it's definitely better then the typical lunch meat you would get at most restaurants. The only downside is it's a little messy. My friend got the grilled Gouda and bacon grilled cheese. She said the bread was very buttery and tasty. She tried Gouda for the first time with that sandwich and throughly enjoyed it. She said it was very creamy and smooth. A nice grownup grilled cheese! When I had read the descriptions on Yelp, though, I had thought it was much different than it actually was. To read about Aurthur's, on Yelp, it seems like a burger joint of the type you can find all over this great nation of ours, sort of like the kind of place that gives you your food in a basket and has a counter. However, it really is an older restaurant that features restaurant-style hamburgers that are very meaty. Still, I went to Arthur's for the burgers and I got a burger. The question is, how was the burger? The answer is: good! It was made very lumpy with good quality ground beef and served on a nice bun with good vegetables. It's not the kind of thing you would really think of being good, because it's just basically a huge patty of meat and a bun and lettuce and not much else; still, it's actually really good. The vibe of Aurthur's is a little on the 'whatever' side, but it does have some charm in its age and a very curious bunch of plaques on the way to the bathroom heralding anyone who was ordered Remy Martin Louis XII there. It's a very odd juxtaposition, $6 hamburgers a kind of homespun TGI Friday's vibe and a plaque commemorating orders of a $120 drink. At this point, I'm just chalking that oddness up to Cincy's oddness and not trying to think too much about it. Still, for a good restaurant style burger, I don't really see how it could have been much better, though the fries were of the frozen variety and that is irksome (which ultimately took it from a 4-star place to 3-stars). read more
