After scouring Yelp for a decent brunch location, this seemed like a great, viable choice. I didn't come with any real expectation of anything to be jaw dropping but I was pleasantly surprised. Although I usually never comment on service, the service here is excellent; I believe it was Christopher that helped us. He calmly explained everything and answered my questions honestly. To start, we had the cinnamon roll; it was moist ask the way through the layers and had just enough icing to not empower the roll. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ordered another one which quickly got dismantled and devoured. The bread basket was quite good as well, which included a type of nut bread and granulated sugar covered doughnut holes, freshly fried. We both decided on the BBBC French toast with eggs, and as we were warned, the portion was enormous. Everything on the plate was freshly made, and I believe that made the difference as most of the accoutrements to the French toast were ordinary breakfast items. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and moist, the bacon was nicely crisped, the home fries were savory and had a duality of texture on them with the pillowy interior and crusty exterior. The French toast had an interesting granola crust, which encapsulated the very soft, moist brioche flesh. Would I come again? Absolutely. Great straightforward food and great service. read more

Came here for brunch and had a great time. G made reservations for 11 am, which was perfect. The hostess was very friendly and seated us quickly. Our server was personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. Their complimentary bread basket is filled with goodies. We started out with the blue crab fritters, which was absolutely delicious. Light crispy exterior with a plump and juicy blue crab interior (shaped like a meatball). Excellent! The sauce around it and grilled corn on the side was well made. The Chicken and Waffles were perfect. The chicken had a crispy light coating. The meat was juicy and well seasoned, had a slight kick to it. The maple-bacon-bourbon syrup on the side is on point. Drizzle that all over the chicken and waffles and it's love at first bite. Ended our meal with one of my favorite desserts at any Great American Restaurant, the Chocolate Waffle. Warm smooth chocolate in between a slightly crisp chocolate waffle with vanilla ice cream on the side. Add a dollop of homemade whipped cream and you've got yourself a home run. Artie's serves "classic American" cuisine. It's located amongst many Korean restaurants, somewhat randomly. Comically, I've been here twice and forget what I had as an entree each time. I even took photos the first time I was here and I STILL don't remember what I had - it wasn't objectionable, though! I LOVE their tiny sweetbread bun roll thingies. Donut holes? Mmm. I love Artie's. It's a beautiful restaurant. The wood paneling is warm and inviting. If you have to sit at the bar before your meal on a crowded night, the bartenders keep you entertained with their hospitality and light banter. The restaurant side is nautical themed, more boating than fishy as some have mentioned, especially in comparison to Coastal Flats. The booths are cozy and feel very intimate. The food is spectacular; on par with the other Great American Restaurants in the area, most comparable with Mike's IMO. They also feature GAR craft brews and have a fantastic wine selection. I highly recommend the boathouse salad, the chicken tenders (not even kidding), the jambalaya pasta, rare seared tuna (pictured), and their ribs (beef ribs pictured). Although to be fair, I don't think there is anything on the menu that I have disliked. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Great American Restaurants really get it right and Artie's is no exception. read more

We stopped at Artie's after a Google recommendation and we were pleasantly surprised at the lovely brunch we had! Upon arriving, we were asked if we had reservations. We didn't, but the wait was less than 5 minutes. After getting our coffees we were given a bread bowl with warm banana bread and cinnamon donut holes. It was a wonderful way to start the meal! When brunch came we both had amazing meals. My boyfriend had the cheeseburger and I had the scrambled eggs 2.0. My meal was huge and delicious. There were tons of scrambled eggs in the skillet mixed with bacon, fresh mushrooms, and onions. It also came with a warm biscuit that fell apart in my mouth. If I could recreate that meal myself I would make it for breakfast every day. We had a great time at Artie's and I can't wait to go back for dinner some time! read more

Low-key Easter dinner inner for just me and spouse. Been here a couple of times before and generally like the Great-American chain. We reserved just a little bit ahead and glad we did, because the place was crowded with a few people waiting, but we were seated immediately. I guess it was extra busy for the holiday. Anyhow: reserve and play it safe! Looks like they did a little redecorating since we were here a while back--so hardly fancy but attractive enough and well-maintained. The food was very good: my wife ordered chicken and I went with a mahi-mahi special with some nice asparagus on the side. She had enough to take some home (which I ended up eating so I can say it was good!) My portion of mahi-mahi was not big but also quite good! Service was excellent. Unlike at most places, whatever wait staff came by handled any request we had, rather than passing it on to the initial waiter, but everyone was responsive and it worked fine for us. I wasn't planning on being here but I was waiting for my car to finish being inspected and I decided to stop in for some lunch while I waited. I'm glad I did. Sitting at the bar, I ordered the new bourbon smash cocktail which was quite tasty and refreshing. My meal was the chop salad followed by the bacon cheeseburger. Salad is one of my favorites. The bacon cheeseburger was awesome; had this tasty sauce called wicked sauce. It was wicked good! Finished my meal off with a peanut butter sundae; another new item on their menu and it rocked! I come to Arties for brunch as often as possible. They offer the "free bread" here. Ozzie rolls dusted in sugar and banana bread. I could literally just eat that and nothing else. I get the french toast or steak and eggs. Super delicious, always consistent. Def, try their biscuits, you won't regret it. Excellent service every time and it's just a great spot. We had the pleasure of dining outdoors at Artie's on Friday evening, it was marvelous!!! We had the shrimp fritters for an appetizer, ahi tuna salad (which should be named Tuna Salad Surprise... super awesome with little surprises with each bite, amazing flavors! ) salmon and a grouper dinner. Everything was wonderful. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining, and the sun sets on the other side of the building so, shade for everyone!! It may be a little pricey but it's well worth it. The staff are all wearing masks so we Felt very comfortable eating outside. You can make a reservation on their website, I would highly recommend that if you want to eat outside, you make the appropriate reservation on their website, as outdoor dining is limited. A friend recommended this place while I'm in town on business. I'm glad I came early because it seemed to fill up quickly. Service was relatively quick and attentive. I got a field green salad which was perfectly dressed and had all sorts of yummy goodies tossed in. Then I had a crab cake sandwich with fries. Hmmm--just left Artie's and asked the manager what a martini bump was -(I had a martini w/a martini glass-(w/stem) husband had martini on the rocks--we paid $2.25 more for my drink--as he explained to us--my husband had a small shot of vodka with a lot of ice cubes where I had a full shot of vodka in the stem glass and no ice cubes. We always thought we were each getting a shot of vodka--one with ice and one without ice. I asked the manager if I ordered a martini straight up in a regular (no stem martini glass) glass - what would it cost--surprise--$9.00-the same as my husband's half shot vodka with ice. Ha--I'm bringing my own stem martini glass to Artie's next week and charging them $2.25 for me pouring your vodka into my glass:) read more

Another great American restaurant (GAR) to cross off the list! I have tried Silverado, Sweet Water, & Coastal Flats. I went to Artie's with relatives to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Even calling ahead for a table at 5 PM on a Saturday was a 2 hour wait, so we decided to eat at the bar. We were greeted with the friendliest smiles from the hostesses and our bartender, Remy, was a real treat as well. Also, I think she was a manager, but she was very accommodating to our needs and a great conversationist. The items on the menu are pretty similar to each other with some differences among the GAR. I have never seen Penne Primavera on any of the GAR menus and was excited to try it. We started off with drinks, the oh so famous bread basket (ozzie rolls!!), spinach artichoke dip, firecracker shrimp, and the chopped house salad with buttermilk dressing (my FAVVVVV). Everything tasted great, but I prefer the salad at Silverado's instead. This salad tasted delicious as always, but I didn't like how the entire salad was covered with heaps of cheese and the lettuce was chopped quite large. For my entree, I had the penne primavera and loved every bite of it! You could add shrimp or chicken, but I didn't want any add-ons and the pasta. It was perfect for my taste just how it is and a good choice for vegetarians out there. It had a garlicky, olive oil/buttery, and fresh taste. Loved the asparagus in there too! You can't leave a GAR without having dessert. Because it was my cousin's birthday, we had dessert on the house and picked our favorite: the flourless chocolate waffle! Arties is like a restaurant in a retirement community. It is packed on a weekday at like 5:30pm for dinner. Your parents are literally there right now. I was kind of shocked to see basketball on the TVs at the bar and not Matlock. I've been here a few times and its an ok place to grab a bite, but I only make it out there every 2 years or so, choosing some other cheaper/better options in Fairfax. Parking also stinks here and there are always strange people hanging around outside. They have a typical Great American happy hour. It isn't great but at least it exists, but lamely they don't honor it on Fridays. I hung out at the bar for the first time, and thought it was kind of nice. Nice people. Nice cozy atmosphere. $4 happy hour beer. I could see myself enjoying happy hour here again...nice spot for a date...butttt I was a little upset and disgusted when I finished 3/4ths of my beer and then noticed there was a dead bug in it. The place is so dark I couldn't see it. I paid, left the rest of the beer and felt nauseous for the next 10 minutes. I actually ended up at the dirty pool hall next door, which was an improvement because there was no bug in my drink. I'm not one of those people who just gives a place 1 star because of stuff like this happening once, but I will definitely not return any time soon. Overall this is a place with food where the price runs a little high without a payoff. Try it out for yourself. It might be the best one of the Great American chain but that isn't saying much. read more

This is our absolute favorite restaurant. We consistently go there more than once a week. The service is perfect. The food is amazing 99% of the time. There are times when a dish isn't a fabulous thing that we were expecting, and they always make it right. They have also worked with us for one of our children - our child was getting so picky having eaten there so often. The manager (who knows us) talked with our child to figure out what would be loved and enjoyed. We are now having a wonderful experience for all of us - children too! I have had nearly everything on the menu at this point. I have loved all of it. I have also had most of their specials and loved all but 1 thing - a wild sockeye salmon was just not my cup of tea. My husband and one of my children consistently get the salmon. They love it so much! The staff is extraordinary. I also love love love the fact that they don't do "crayons and a paper color-in" thing for the kids. They offer Etch-a-Sketches! My children love to play on these; one has become incredibly proficient at it now. read more

Made a reservation for Sunday brunch at 10:30 am on Resy. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were seated right away. Hostesses and waitstaff were friendly and welcoming. The decor is of a nautical theme, with rich mahogany wood booths and tables. A breadbasket with zucchini bread and cinnamon sugar covered Ozzie rolls was brought to our table with our coffee. Yummy! We ordered "large plates" from the brunch menu -- I had the Bubble and Squeak and my husband had the Chicken and Waffles. I'll occasionally have a mimosa at brunch, but I didn't notice any specials offered on their brunch drinks which range from $7-$10. My plate came with perfectly poached eggs atop crispy fried chicken tenders and a sliced biscuit, covered with gravy. The homefries were deliciously seasoned and slightly crispy. Portions were good for the price. Service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed brunch and will definitely return. read more

I mean the restaurant is still fine but just be aware that the Resy reservations aren't really reservations. There wont be a table waiting for you when you get there, its basically just a spot in line. Its a great way to get people into the restaurant and committed to waiting. I was seated about half an hour to 40 minutes after my reservation. But just know its actually not a reservation and if you care about your time then a Resy reservation is useless. It should be advertised as such. read more
