Cute place but rough food taste. Service and drinks were okay but I hardly touched the food due to its taste. I ordered the brussels sprouts and chicken sandwich and I honestly was not a fan. They both tasted very bland. I love brussel sprouts and I could not even eat them here because of how they tasted. This review is long overdue. This restaurant has a special place in my heart. I've been here many, many times, but about a year ago my boyfriend proposed on the beach right outside this restaurant. He had called ahead and told them what he was planning, and they were extremely accommodating and made the dinner afterward very special for us with strawberries cut to look like roses and champagne and the chef and owner greeting our table with congratulations. Besides just making the night special for us with outstanding service, they consistently have great food and drinks. My absolute favorite dish is the fried chicken and waffles with Neuske's bacon-infused syrup - I'm a sucker for salty and sweet. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

Lovely view of the lake with a high class dining experience (which the prices reflect). Food is delicious, with flavors and influences that can be harder to find outside of urban centers. What a cute restaurant on Pewaukee Lake with great food, service and view! We went on a Friday night and it was packed. There was live music and the ambiance made it feel like it was a trendy restaurant in a big city instead of the Milwaukee burbs. The menu had either small plates to share or entrees. I thought the shareable plates were going to be typical tapas size but they were gigantic! 5 dishes were plenty for 4 people. We had the buttered truffle popcorn, the beet salad, chicken and waffle, cheese and charcuterie board and the sishito peppers. Everything was really tasty and full of flavors. The chicken in the chicken and waffle was super tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Can't wait to try some other items on their menu! read more

The higher quality entrees cost quite a bit more than their burgers and flatbread, which are overpriced themselves. But I guess being across the street from Pewaukee Lake isn't cheap. I'll eventually go back, just not regularly. read more

Great location with a fun menu and crafty cocktails. The menu is seasonal and local with great options to eat heavy or light. The beer salad was amazing and the pork chop equally great. I really liked this restaurant until I became acquainted with one of their employees. Or should I say past employees. She finally got the courage to leave. This company treats their employees terribly and makes promises to them that they do not keep. While the food and company may be good, it is truly important for the staff to be well taken care of and it is clear that they are not. It is a shame. read more

I went here last weekend for my birthday and the owner was extremely friendly and the service was impeccable! They made me feel very special for my birthday . The food was absolutely delicious. Everything we tried was incredible, perfectly cooked, inventive, flavorful, and delicious. The vibe of the restaurant is upscale but friendly. Artisan 179 was some of the best food I've ever eaten! We started with drinks, and tried a handful of appetizers. My favorites included the lobster lollipops and bang shrimp. I had the special which was lobster mac n cheese for my main entree, and it was delicious. The service was fantastic and the live music made for a very relaxing and nice ambiance. I also loved looking at the local art for sale on the walls. Will be returning as soon as possible! read more

Absolutely a phenomenal place to; dine on a creative and tasty menu, grab your standard adult beverage or one of their custom crafted libations. The wood (cherry or hickory) smoke infused old fashion is out of this world and provides quite the show. If the food and drinks were not enough, the staff is superb and very knowledgeable of the menu. I suspect this is a result of the proprietor's policy of having them sample dishes as the chef explains his creation. During my visit I observed The Owner - Tom, Bar Manager - Adam and Resident Kick in the Pants - Maranda sampling the new short rib dish for two (which I was fortunate enough to have ordered); I highly recommend this dish to couples looking to have a romantic dining experience. Environment was very welcoming and warm, every employee had a smile on their face. It is clear to see that Tom has selected a great team and they enjoy their jobs - something that is extremely difficult to do these days. I anxiously await a return trip to the area so that I can dine here again. read more

There's a lot to like about Artisan 179. Eclectic menu, fantastic service and nicely appointed dining room. On the flip side be prepared to spend $50 or more per person and a couple of TV's that are distracting and unnecessary in the dining room. We had dinner on a cold (sub zero) recent weeknight and were seated in front of the front windows, which are picturesque with a view if the lake across the street. Unfortunately, it made my seat with my back to window quite chilly. For dinner I had the chicken tonkatsu ramen. Overall it was good although the chicken was a little bland. It was a nice sized portion for the price. My partner had the tagliatelle with a meat sauce that featured short ribs. This was a relatively small portion for the money and felt overpriced. Give it a try, just be sure to visit the ATM first. read more

I made my first visit to Artisan 179 last evening and it was an amazingly great experience. They have a great selection of bourbons, always a plus for me and the staff is friendly and attentive. Then I had the pork chop which was incredible and earned a place on my list of top three pork chops I have ever been served in a restaurant. And, did I mention the building and it's location is very cool. I'll be back in the summer so I can enjoy the lake view from the patio. I was so disappointed with our entire experience at Artisan 179. Me, my husband, and newborn wanted a nice night out , and by "night" I mean 5pm since we have a child now. There was no one inside the restaurant, just a little busy out on the patio. We asked for a table outside, there was a spot open, but the hostess said there was a 1 hour wait to sit outside. We unfortunately had to sit inside next to the window where about 10 flies circled us through our entire dinner. They were also many flies dead on the ledge. The spot outside that was open was never sat in, then about 3 other tables became free outside and were free for our entire dinner. Not sure why they wouldn't have allowed us to sit outside and lie to us about the wait, but that was just the start of our bad experience. I am on a post pregnancy diet so all I am eating is lean meats like fish. I asked the waitress how the sea bass was I said I don't like "fishy" fish. She said it's not fishy at all, one of the restaurants favorite dishes. At a $40 price tag and her high recommendation I figured it has to be good. Well, it wasn't, it tasted straight from the sea, did not taste fresh at all! I didn't even have more than 2 bites. She asked how I liked it and I told her it's not my favorite. She replied " I'll take that as not too bad since you said you were a very picky eater" and walked away!! My husband and I just looked at each other in shock. I didn't feel like complaining anymore since I already said something and was blown off. We then had to ask for a refill on our waters 3 times, she would say I'll be right back and never come back. We ended up asking a different waitress for water. The manager/owner was roaming around through our entire dinner but never asked us how it was. He did go up to a few other tables. I hate to write a bad review during covid crisis, but restaurants that are open right now should really appreciate anyone that's going out to eat during these times and the experience we had was horrible. I honestly would have given this restaurant a 1 star if my husbands burger wasn't decent, but for 25 dollars it should be! read more

Date night outing. Pricey, but very worth it. Small but exciting menu, great drinks and apps. We had prosciutto wrapped shrimp for our appetizer, and it was one of the best foods we have had. I had the gnocchi, and it was amazing. My wife had the rib appetizer as a main course, with truffle fries. Both were especially good. We had the RumChata bread pudding for dessert, and it was very good. Our server was spot-on, checking on us often. No complaints whatsoever, loved it and will remember this night out for years to come. read more

We first reviewed this spot nearly a two years ago. A dozen happily served visits later- it's still our favorite spot! The menu is always subtly different.. updating favorites to be even better (hello tempura veggies). The staff there... they aren't just attentive, but friendly to a point of wanting to go there just so see them. What I've learned in 18mo's? I have frequented Artisan 179 often as it is one of my personal favorite restaurants in Lake Country. The atmosphere is amazing from the white table cloths to the gorgeous views of Pewaukee Lake. The food never disappoints and most recently had the salmon. The taste was incredible, to the point I didn't want the last bites to be finished. The bartenders and servers do everything they can to insure you have a great experience. Last night I hosted a dinner meeting upstairs in the Rhino Room. Again they did not disappoint. The communication from the time we made the initial plan to the day of the event was great. The room has a large private bar, plenty of room for a very large group and amazing views of the lake. Our hostess did a great job in making sure every guest had anything they needed and also was able to work closely with the chef to manage the food to all come out at the same time and cooked to perfection. One day later and the group was still talking about the meal, the service and the unbeatable views. I would highly recommend reaching out to Katrina and Ted if you are in the need to have a perfect setting for a large group private setting. The Rhino Room is a perfect option. read more
