We have been coming to this restaurant for years and recommending it-the cocktails, ambiance, and food have always been great-we do lots of celebrations here----I did not want to write a negative review. However, the past 2 experiences with food/service have been lower; I'm not sure if staffing has been a struggle or..... We got billed for food we didn't get at our most recent visit (dessert), the wrong wine delivered at the END of the meal, bread delivered at the END of the meal then charged to us, and we had to ask for someone 55 min after the bill was dropped off to even come talk to us. The waitress was very nice but the night was way off--the fish was dry and the squash puree was cold...we spoke to the manager and the glass of wine and bread pudding we never got was taken off the bill but no additional effort to remedy. For the first time ever we didn't leave a tip-----we found out today that 19% gratuity was put on our bank card and our friends' bank card. That is not okay----we won't be back, nor will our many friends that we have recommended Artisan 179 to. We are sad that it came to this when it could be an easy fix. I'm devoted to customer service and I understand mistakes, it's why we spoke to the 'manager' young man that night and I would never want to leave a bad review because I know that is painful to a business to deal with. This was just very upsetting to get auto-charged a tip for a bad night that we didn't feel was remedied properly and we were a table of four in a corner. read more

Regret to give this low of a rating, but I had to go with a 2. An unfortunate misunderstanding, my leftovers which was half of a good meal, we're thrown away. I'm certain I replied yes when asked if I wanted a box, but an honest mistake. She had already brought me a box for my appetizer, which was huge and I didn't finish. Then the main meal was also a big portion, so I had about half of it left. Now this is nice that they give good portions. The thing that's sucks must is all of the food was delicious! Really good meal, thrown in the trash. You spend that much money you want to enjoy it. Half of a huge piece of pork chop, why would I have wanted to keep my simple appetizer and not the main meal? Really disappointed I'm not able to enjoy the rest of it. read more

I stopped in for lunch and the menu was extremely hard to make a choice from because there were too many appealing options. We started with chips & dips for the table as well as a Strawberry Cucumber mimosa-both were phenomenal. The dip was so flavorful and the homemade chips were divine. I saw the Ramen at the table next to me and that settled it for me. You can order it with four different spice levels -I started with a .5 because I can't handle the spice and it was plenty for me! They can bring you a little bowl to add more spice if you prefer. The soft boiled egg as made perfectly, the noodles are made fresh every morning, all in all the flavor combination was amazing and I can't wait to order this again. After learning it's my first time in Wisconsin, the staff wrote me a welcome card. Everyone is so sweet here! Ambience: Amazing view right in front of the lake. I recommend coming here during sunset with your loved one, as it is super romantic. Salad+salmon: Everything is fresh and local, which I love! I ordered the wedges salad with salmon, and it was fresh, light, and just what I wanted. It was the best salmon I've ever had in my life, seared to perfection, crispy on the top without being oily at all. Drink: I ordered a seasonal sangria, which is also superb. The strawberries in there were very fresh, and you can tell the difference between these and the normally frozen fruits many restaurants put in their sangria's. They have a huge selection of cocktails as well, and many look promising. I don't think you can go wrong with anything at this restaurant. Dessert: Ordered the mango cheesecake. Huge wine selection, eclectic vibe! We went on a night they had live music and it created a nice ambiance. It's a cool open air boutique-like wine spot with a large bar and ample indoor seating. Our waiter was nice and took care of us, but the food was honestly impressive. My date and I both got the hanger steak and it was very delicious. Accurately cooked for both of our selected temperatures, and the prices aren't bad at all. It's a classier spot, but very welcoming and not pretentious. If you're in the area and want a good meal and wine selection, Artisan 179 is a great choice! read more

Really great experience with good but not totally mind blowing cuisine. Attentive staff, calm outdoor dining on a lazy weekend at the lake always appeals to us. Overlooking Lake Pewaukee, Artisan 179 is an eclectic and casual restaurant serving upscale cuisine. With an expansive wine list and nice selection of craft beers and cocktails, there is something for everyone's likes. The food was fantastic, had a party of 6 for a customer dinner. We shared several apps - cheese board, crab cake and some awesome fried cheese curds. I went with the bone in pork chop with fried polenta - it was amazing. We stopped at Artisan 179 after reading a review on Yelp. It was absolutely fantastic! In addition to the beautiful lake view dining, there was a musician playing guitar and singing, and the food was delicious! On a glorious 85 degree sunny Friday during the first weekend in May, we sat outside at Artisan in Pewaukee overlooking the lake. Although on a day like this in Wisconsin anything would taste great, our salads and wine were delicious. Managed and operated by a Bartolotta through marriage, his in law restaurant genes show through Artisan's creative food and unique wine list. He is very hands on, but not particularly warm and fuzzy. He grew up in New York about 10 minutes from where I did, but when I attempted to engage him, he was not interested. Perhaps it was my rental car which was a very modest Kia Rio. Next time I'll drive up in a Lincoln Continrental. Besides his cold shoulder, I enjoyed Artisan very much. read more

Great little restaurant overlooking the lake. We had the pan seared dumplings for an appetizer which were cooked perfectly and paired with an appropriate soy dipping sauce. For an entree, I had the citrus beet salad and added coconut shrimp. The salad was well balanced and the infused goat cheese added a creaminess to balance the acid of the citrus and vinaigrette. We came here tonight for my husband's birthday dinner. We were seated right away (we made a reservation), but we sat there for over 30 minutes and no one came to take our order. It wasn't too busy either, there were quite a few open tables. We left once a table, who was seated 25 minutes after us, had been waited on. I'm sure they forgot us, but we were right in the main path between the kitchen and dining. We'll come back and try another time, but we just couldn't keep waiting. read more

Came here for lunch and was surprised by the creativity on the menu - There were Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese influences, just to name a few! Service was very attentive and I appreciated the presentation and creativity of the dishes. Crab dip - warm and cheesy, nicely toasted flatbread to dip. Yum! Duck confit flatbread - I don't know how they got the sweet potato so smooth and creamy, but it was awesome! The duck felt just a little dried out, but the dish as a whole had nice flavors. I came for a work dinner with a few colleagues and it was so cute! It's right on the water and seems like a great place for patio dining in the summer. They recently got a new chef so we were treated to an updated menu. For appetizers, we got the charcuterie board, dumplings and tempura cauliflower. I don't like cauliflower but I could not stop eating this one, it's a must try! The cocktail menu is very fun, they even have a few interactive drinks. I was a little underwhelmed by mine because it was supposed to be illuminated, color changing and salt rimmed, but I didn't really get any of those features. Regardless, it tasted great. I also got a blueberry Moscow mule which I could rave about. For dinner, I got the gnocchi primavera and it was amazing! I highly suggest adding steak to the dish as well, it was cooked perfectly. This place seems perfect for so many occasions from work dinners to date nights to special occasions, I definitely recommend trying it out. I visited on a Saturday night with a group of six. We had a wonderful dinner. The night started with a fabulous waitress (Greta) who was well-versed in the menu and the specialty drinks. She was a great help in selecting cocktails and meals. The diversity of the menu was great for the three couples that made up our group. There was something that was attractive to everyone even though we had one vegetarian and a person who eats nothing but steak in our group. Everyone was delighted with the food they were served. The atmosphere was right on. They had a live musician playing the entire time we were there. The music he played was a fine addition to our meal. We had our office Christmas lunch there today. Food was fantastic. Diverse lunch menu for our diverse group of tastes. The server we had was superb, and she handled 11 people with ease.
