Armenian BBQ. Not American BBQ. This place is really delicious!!! Also, extremely affordable. I hope they expand into more and more traditional Armenian items. My wife and I were told by a couple of residents that this BBQ place is the place to go for good food and generous portions! We were extremely happy to have a lunch of pulled pork, rice, coleslaw, and potato salad/baked beans to help celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary! This unassuming spot has some really good food. They no longer had beef on the menu, so my boyfriend and I each got a combo plate. The combo plates are so big that we had leftovers for 3 FULL meals! The plates included a large portion of rice, 2 sides, a softball sized portion of delicious smokey roasted pork, chicken thighs, and a huge pork chop. The roasted pork (which was listed as pulled pork) had delicious crispy bits and just the right amount of smoky tenderness. The chop looked like it would have been tough, as pork chops often are, but was soft, tender, and juicy. The chicken was a nice contrast to the heaviness of the pork, was well seasoned, and (I won't say the "m"-word) not dry at all. All three items were seasoned differently so even with such a large quantity there wasn't any flavor fatigue. The rice and sides were good, but not extraordinary, but there bbq sauce and garlicky house white sauce were both excellent. read more

Almost drove right by the building initially, but from the second I walked in I was welcomed by the great guys working there. Ended up trying their brisket sandwich and combo plate. Brisket was fantastic, accented by a delicious bbq sauce and what really surprised me from the combo plate was the chicken. The chicken was a perfectly crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside smoked thigh with a nice light glaze over it. Some of the best smoked chicken I've had. We stopped in on our way through Crescent City. We tried Art's BBQ because there were some positive on-line reviews. When we arrived, the smell of BBQ was fantastic, but the guy behind the counter (the owner?) said it would be another 20 minutes to finish a fresh batch of BBQ. We decided to wait for the fresh off the BBQ food, rather than going for something quicker, which was a good decision! The food is more middle eastern style BBQ, not like a Texas BBQ, with side orders of humous, cole slaw, and/or baked beans. There are also potato chips and drinks available. Our Family really enjoyed the great food, and the great service too. We will be back on our next trip through! read more

We grabbed dinner to-go here recently while traveling and staying at an RV resort in the area. We went for BBQ as we had never tried Armenian food before. If you haven't tried it either, you definitely must! You're in for a real treat! The restaurant is small but clean and inviting. The young man at the counter made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in and was happy to answer our questions about the menu choices. We chose to share a combo plate. The beef was perfectly seasoned ground beef on a skewer and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was cooked over an open flame and it was juicy and oh so good! The pork chop was smoked to perfection. We loved the seasoning...it was unique and complimented each entree perfectly without being overwhelming. The meats were served on a generous bed of white rice with two side dishes. We chose a double order of the baked beans and they were scrumptious! If I had to do it over again, I would probably try the hummus along with the beans because I am betting it was also terrific. The portions were very generous and I'd say dinner for two of us with two sodas for about $12 was a steal! I wish I'd taken a few photos of the food but I was too busy enjoying it! Art's BBQ is quickly becoming a popular spot in town, and for good reason! They have amazing food, kind staff, and outstanding prices. Their plates run for $7/$8 a piece and one plate has enough food to feed two people. You get a good pound of meat, rice (oh my gosh, I don't know what they do to their rice but it's amazing!), and a choice of two sides ( or you could get two of the same side). They also have a sandwich wrap option. We have been there multiple times, and it never gets old. We decided to order take out for my husbands birthday on Sunday 8/25, so we ordered the food Saturday and reheated it in the oven Sunday for the party. We got 10 plates of food, and not did we have left overs. The food was a hit, and everybody wanted to know my recipe...how could I not tell them it was actually not a product of my own kitchen but from our new favorite place in town, Art's BBQ. The food reheated very well in the oven and it did not dry out or anything. When I placed the order for his birthday he was surprised at how many we got because we usually only get one or two plates for feed our family of 2 adults and 2 toddlers. They had the food ready in about 30 minutes. And he saw that I was alone with two kids so he helped me carry the bags out to my car so I could hold my children's hands because of the busy street close by.
