Jackie listens to what you want, but also suggests other ideas that would work for your hair. I always get a haircut, that I like and it's not overpriced. I love Laura!She tends to fill her schedule so make your appointment early. I have followed her from one salon to the next over the past 8 years. She does great natural looking highlights and did my hair for my Jr. and Sr. proms in adorable updo's that stayed put through all the dancing. She has the best attitude and is such a positive person a wonderful energy glows from her aura and anyone around her can feel that happiness. I like to get layered/feathered cuts because my hair is so thick-she always gives me the perfect cut and it's always even no touch up trimming after the blow dry. I highly reccomend her and the prices are very reasonable! One down side of the salon-it can get extremely hot in there, wish they had AC or something. read more

This is the BEST PLACE EVER!!! I once made the mistake of trying some place new, and I regretted it. Never again will I do that!! I've had both Jackie and Leslie although Jackie is my usual. I trust them to do anything with my hair. They always make sure that you're comfortable with what they are about to do as well...some people will just dive in and chop. Anyway, I've had my hair short, layered, with blue streaks, red, blonde, dark brown, you name it...and I've always been happy with the results! They are also SUPER nice and over the years my family and I have been going there, we've gotten to know them pretty well and it's always fun to hang out there and chit chat. The highlights look beautiful and natural, the haircuts are always of perfect quality, and the head rub when you get your hair washed is a real treat. I got my hair curled and a natural make up done for my bridal shower at Aruba Salon. Overall I was pleased with my experience except for one key thing. I mainly picked Aruba because its close to my apartment and I didn't want to travel far because I didn't have a lot of time before my shower. It took over two hours which seemed a bit excessive and I was 15 minutes late to my shower. The main complaint I have was the price. I got charged $165 (not including tip) to get my hair curled and a natural make up done (I brought in my own false lashes and she applied them). I guess they charge you wedding prices even if it is not for your wedding (and I made it clear it was not for my wedding). Let's say the make up was even $100 (which is more than I'm paying for my actual wedding make up), I dont think charging $65 for curling hair is reasonable. read more

LAURA! Simply the best. I appreciate a hairstylist who can work with all different kinds of hair. I have super curly, long, thick hair and she knows exactly what will look good and what won't. Most importantly, she is an EXPERT with color. I came to see her when my hair had been severely messed up by another stylist. This one is for Barbara. I have been coming here for a year now. (And I get a hair cut every three months, so yeah been here a few times) I am very particular about how I want my hair cut. Barbara does a wonderful job. She'll describe how she will cut it to achieve the look I want every time. She takes her time and is meticulous about it. After she is done she will ask if you are okay with it and if you have any suggestions she will not hesitate to spend some more time and get it cut that way. I like the fact that she never talks me out of what I want to do or talks me into doing something I am not comfortable with. Unlike other places, people here are not pushy about products so that is one plus point too. And I really like the fact that they take their time! Plus its on castro. Jackie is AMAZING! After having some god-awful, seriously atrocious short haircuts as a kid (we're talking the Asian "bowl" cut w/ uneven super short, thick bangs), I've ALWAYS had long hair. When I moved back home from college a couple years ago, I REALLY wanted to do the A-line/short cut w/ the side part that was just starting to be popular, but I was more than a little apprehensive due to my traumatic childhood hair. After learning about Jackie from a friend, I decided to go check her out thinking I'd get a trim and then go back to do the drastic cut if she did a good job. Within 5 min. of talking w/ Jackie, I decided to take the plunge -- she was attentive, listened to my ideas, provided great feedback, and made me feel confident she'd do a great job. Of course, it turned out FANTASTIC and I got TONS of compliments!!! Since then I've gone back to Jackie numerous times and had all sorts of different styles (long, short, layered, bangs, etc) and each time I leave w/ a fantastic cut. Even while growing out my short hair there was no awkward "in-between" stage because she is just THAT good! Her cuts look good for months too, which in my opinion is the test of a good cut. The best thing about Jackie is she is a perfectionist; not only does she have a great sense of style and what would work with your face shape and hair type, you ALWAYS leave feeling like you have the best hair b/c she wouldn't let you go until every hair is cut to perfection. read more
