This is a real experience I had. I took a window on 6/23/26 to a fix broken glass on a window panel. I picked it up today 6/26/26. The glass was repaired, but they did not put my ADT security sensor back on the window frame. For people who have ADT system will know, it takes two pieces of sensors to line up on the window in order to activate the alarm. I called and spoke with a person. I told him what happened, but he pretty much blaming me. He said that I told them I have the ADT system on my other panel. Yes I do, but it is only one of the two pieces. I told them there is another sensor on the window panel that they fixed it. I asked him just to look for it. He did not. He blamed me, and said he was talking to me in a nice way. I told him all I asked is for him to look for it, but he did not. I wasn't rude at all, all I asked was that if he can look for it. If you are in the glass and mirror business, you should know that the metal piece on the window panel is the sensor for a security system. Now my security system is not working properly at all. I already paid in advance. It is pretty much he said I said. I lost because I paid for the services but now I have to pay more for ADT to fix the security system simply because of a window panel. I hung up the phone call because it is getting nowhere. I just want to warn you that if you are using their services, make sure you take pictures and write down everything you have. I have no doubt that the owner or person will twist the whole truth, it is what my experiences, and I will not recommend this company. read more

This is a tough review to write... we ordered 2 specialty pieces from them and when I arrived they had fused it into one piece. I was disappointed because I felt I was as clear as possible in my instructions and they assured me they understood. The piece that they had built was absolutely beautiful and I agreed to take it but that put me in a difficult position to have to purchase another one for our install. They were unapologetic and after pleading my case they agreed to a 10 percent discount on the second piece. I was frustrated because it set back our install costing me money on contractor labor but nearly doubled the cost of glass. Beautiful work, customer service leaves much to be desired. read more

I came to Ashland Glass with an odd request, replacing the glass in my 1960s camper's Jalousie windows. I didn't have high hopes. Two other glass shops had already turned me down, and one told me it was impossible (Grrr... this was not true). Patrick was game and told me to bring the glass in. They were able to not only cut the panes (which would have been enough) but remount them in the hardware. They had it done in 24 hours, and when one of the panes broke in the trip to the car (or maybe before) replaced it with no charge. The price was not cheap, but fair, and saved me $100s if I had to purchase new windows. Easily worth it. I was able to put the windows back together, which allows me camper to keep it's classy mid century vintage look. read more

After reading a few reviews in depth, I will be honest, I was a little leery about using this company. However, after getting assurances from my realtor who speaks highly of Ashland Glass and who recommended them to me, I also called and spoke with the front end mgr Jurate, who assured me all would be good, I felt good about my decision to move forward and I am so glad that I did! On the day of, Caesar and his helper arrived earlier within their time window and after doing final measurements, they cut the glass and got to work. I almost never post photos, but they did such an amazing job, I feel I have to share especially for those that live in the city and may have intricate pipes and exposed air ducts. I did receive a quote from a couple of other companies that were double the cost of Ashland and after comparing reviews, the installation/quality of glass were about the same. read more

I recently decided to makeover my rather small bathroom and needed a small glass shelf for storage and sitting small every day items. Because the space is so small, the measurements were very exact and finding one ready made wasn't an option. I called and told them my measurements and she confirmed that they could do it no problem and it would only take a few days. (Though I could tell she maybe thought I was a little nuts for needing such a small piece of glass. Lol.) The price was also really reasonable. Much less than I thought it would be! I highly, highly recommend Ashland Glass for all your window repair needs! Today they replaced a window pane in a sliding glass door for me. The door had an air leak disrupting the view with a foggy pane. I reached out to multiple companies and Ashland Glass was the only company willing to replace the window pane and keep the original door in tact. They were also certified to work in a mid-rise/high-rise building and able to provide a certificate of insurance for my HOA purposes. Communication with Patrick was really easy via email and phone. After I reached out, he provided a rough quote and scheduled someone to come out and measure. He then provided a more formal quote. Once I gave the go ahead and paid, they ordered the glass and had it installed two weeks later. Really pleased with the results! read more

Buyer beware. Make sure to have them sign something to show that what you are brining in - has no scratches. I picked up my piece - and it had scratches on it - that were not there when I dropped it off. They just shrugged their shoulder and said - well - we are not responsible. Had several problems. A misquote because they had not read my email request carefully. I had to replace a mirror on old medicine cabinet. Their first attempt was not mounted correctly (was askew and not flush with the top of the door) but the biggest problem was that the mirror they mounted was much too thick and heavy. They had asked me over the phone what thickness of glass I wanted and I said I didn't know. After some discussion, they agreed to use thinner glass and remount it. I am now satisfied but I had to insist. It was a safety issue! The door could have pulled away from the wall and broken! In neither instance was I called to advise me that the mirror was ready. I would not recommend them. read more

How DARE you continue to PUSH us off...you recently installed glass shower doors We paid an EXORBITANT amount of money...they looked BEAUTIFUL...but when we started to use the shower we noticed marks inside the glass we were UNABLE to remove..also the door start leaking and the surround glass was wobbly..this was JUST after our first use When we called Eric to come out and assess we relayed (in detail) what needed to be addressed..someone showed up with ABSOLUTELY no clue of what they were supposed to do and PROMISED to return the next day The NEXT DAY came and went..nobody called or came by..we then made ANOTHER MUTUAL appointment..AGAIN..this time a NO SHOW SO...as it may appear to look correct..it is inferior and cannot get ANYONE at Ashland Glass to address this issue Beware if you have an installation and something is wrong...GOOD LUCK in trying to get them to make it right They're running away from their problems read more

We visited this place for a project we have in mind. We gave them our info and they confirmed someone would come see us and take measurements. Day of visit no one showed up. According to them that employee called off. Finally some else came over days later. Took measurements and said they would get back to us. We are still waiting. It is a small project but we know is not cheap, easily over $2000, guess we'll take our business somewhere else. read more

Brought some cabinet doors in to have glass installed and they did a great job! Super quick and look great.

We brought in two set of mirrors that were replaced with new glass. We noticed over time that the glass developed black/brown streaks. We reached a point that the streaks were most evident and we called Ashland. We told since we called 14 months after purchase the glass would not be covered with an only one year guarantee. We assisted and were then told th purchase and work was not done by Ashland. We challenged this assertion when we presented the purchase order They finally relented and replaced the faulty mirrors We were told in a most insulting manner that would be no more discussion and no guarantee on the work. I would give them 6 stars if I could. The folks here are fantastic. I had the day off of work, and my wife put me to work. I had to fix the broken medicine cabinet mirror, get a sheet of glass to protect a coffee table and track down replacement window latches. I contacted Ashland Glass & Mirror Design for a quote on the mirror. The price was right, so I headed there immediately. While there, I asked about the coffee table glass, and once again, the price was right. Before the cashier had a chance to ring me up, I asked if they had recommendations for the window latches. Sure enough, they had universal window latches that matched my needs! I headed home and got to work on the windows. Less than two hours later, Ashland Glass contacted me to let me know the coffee table glass and medicine cabinet mirror were ready for pickup. I found you on Yelp and I trusted my yelp friends...they were right! This place is great! Unfortunately I broke a very thick full length mirror that was given to me by my parents...it was older than me...it was a part of their first bedroom set as a married couple. It's a very simple but beautiful solid walnut frame. I was heartbroken when I shattered the mirror shortly after moving into my new place. I knew I couldn't just throw the frame away. I began my search for a local glass/mirror shop. The staff at Ashland Glass and Mirror Design were great, very down to earth family owned shop! I could tell by their shop that they also do custom mirror and glass installations in your home as well. I'll definitely keep them in mind if I ever need something like that done at my place. I dropped off the frame and had a quote for the repairs. $75 for 1/4 inch thick mirror for the 24" x 52" frame. They said it would be finished in about an hour. I took care of some errands and came back. They ended up using a thicker mirror but still charged me the original quoted price! $75 is a steal for this mirror. You'd be hard pressed to find anything close to it for that price. I was thrilled! They also helped me unload and load the mirror into my car. Very nice, very friendly! Highly recommended! read more

Product: Purchased 4 glass panels, of which 2 are fixed and 2 are slidable for glass enclosure for lofted bedrooms in a condo Price: Fair pricing, offers discounts for having multiple installs. Installation: Installation was smooth. They provided insurance certificate as requested (most condos in Chicago require this). The guys were communicative on the progress and were friendly. I asked some questions about the installation and we chi-chatted a bit. Great guys. Everything would have been 5 stars until the end of the job. The single thing that took away 3 stars was the attitude when problem comes up. Sh** happens but it's all about how you deal with it that makes or breaks an experience. I did not give it 1 star because of all the positive things above. At the end of the install, the installers pulled out some acrylic pull handles to tape onto the glass panels. I did not think too much of them but when they were done, I asked if I could try to operate the slidable panels. Well the handles were SO thin that you cannot get your fingers to grip it. Basically you have to use your finger nails to pull on the handles to slide the glass panel. The installers took a look and agreed. I asked if they had something different and they said go ahead and call the office, they'll have something for me. They also said they'll put a note to notify them the handles didn't work. So we ended up removing the handles. I called the office and they said they'll take a look. A day later the response was they can sell me some big handles for $25 a piece. When I questioned that the handles were included, the response was "The handles are standard/default and were ordered by you. you don't have to buy from us, you can buy from hardware store". First of all I did not order those handles, second the agreed scope was "2 operable panels". Any reasonable person would not consider using your finger nails to pry open a window is a proper setup (these panels are like 30 inches tall and 40 inches wide, and 1/4" thick, so not exactly light-weight and you need proper handles). How do you expect your customers to slide these panels? Second, if the handles are so high quality, then be up-front about it, if they're expensive for you and you can't give them for free, I can accept that. I specifically asked if they have any other handles that are actually usable, not anything fancy. So it's either handles that don't work or fancy handles?What is unacceptable is the attitude about a problem that clearly came from a product you installed (offering handles that are USELESS). I'm not here to take advantage of them or want to get something out of them for free. I just want a handle that works. Conclusion: Just like other reviews show (either 4/5 stars or 1 star), it's hit or miss. The prices are fair, installers are excellent, but be very careful about what you get. If everything comes out ok, you will love it. If there's a problem, don't expect this company to back their products. P.S. Originally when my neighbor requested a quote, she said they want cash. so when I called to quote for a GROUP deal, I said if you need cash I'm ok with that. When the installers were almost done they asked me to call the office to provide my credit card so I called. She seemed offended by that and said that's not what we had agreed on. I said that's fine, I just didn't know what was going on because the installers asked me to call. I'm pointing this out in case the company tries to say I try to cheat them, when the reality is that it was a misunderstanding. read more

My law degree is one of my prized possessions, but you'd never know it by the fact that it sat in a dark corner for over seven years, in a beautiful frame with no glass to protect it. Fast forward to my new place with an office and no excuse not to hang the degree. Thanks to Yelp (my constant consultant) I found Ashland Glass & Mirror Design. I walked in without an appointment and the framed degree. For a good price (about $28) and a 10 minute wait on a Saturday, I got my degree back with the protection it needed!!!! Perhaps I should add that the degree is not a standard size, but much larger. Should be, for as much as it cost! Ashland Glass & Mirror Design just earned a new loyal customer. Then they wanted to charge $500 to deliver and install the mirror. They are about a mile away. I'll buy the mastic. I'll install the mirror. $500 made no sense at all. read more

Brought in a template for a table top to be cut from. Explained that the template was the basic shape i wanted but that the edges were not completely smooth. Asked if they could make sure when they cut the glass that they could smooth the edges. They agreed, told me something about using a ruler to make sure the lines were straight. I explained again that I wanted all the edges smooth, the rounded edges on template we not smooth because I cut it by hand with scissors. Got the glass back with crooked edges. How on earth someone can assume that this is acceptable is beyond me. Why would I go as far as bringing a template when I could have just said "go ahead and cut it crooked". Called back and they told me they'd cut another sheet for me but would need to charge me again. Didn't offer to try and correct the existing problem, didn't try and offer any explanation other than...your template was crooked. If you have a job thats straight-forward, straight lines, nothing out of the ordinary, i'm sure they can probably do it. Attempt to get creative and watch them crumble before your eyes. read more

I walked in with a tiny window frame from a window I had to break to get into my locked apartment. It was about 12" x 6". The guy behind the counter quoted me $46. I thought that was insane and almost walked out in a huff. Then the owner came over and explained that their system charges a "minimum price" for particular glass types (It was privacy glass). He gave me 50% off due to the small size of the window. I was still overcharged, but they turned it around really fast (in less than an hour, when they quoted me 3). The glass was the right size, even if it was a little thinner than the original. Either way, it's better than the ghetto plastic bag I had rigged up. A job well-done. read more

They went above and beyond to please me. I purchased a glass desk top. Their new clerk made a mistake completing the order so I initially did not get the Edge finish I wanted. When I took the glass back to them, they upgraded the order to my initial desire (at no extra cost), and then they added a beveled Edge that I had initially not requested - again at no extra cost to me. It took them 20 minutes to find it, and said it had been there "for a while now". I asked them if they called me, and she said yes. This year, they were unable to deliver a glass desktop despite multiple efforts - and their ability to deliver on time & customer service was not what I had gotten used to. BE AWARE OF BEING OVERCHARGED. I was being overcharged by a factor of 10. I needed new rollers for my shower doors. They charged me 16,47 for a pair. I thought that was a bit much but bought them. Later that day I checked for the product on Amazon. They charged 1.75 for them. Same at home depot. When I went back to the store and showed them the ones I bought at Amazon they explained to me that they can't compete with Amazon. I understand that they may charge me 25 percent more for having them in their store, but they charged me 1000 percent more. That's totally uncalled for. At least they gave me my money back. What they also should have done is appologize and give me those rollers for free, and I would not have written this review. But insteald they tried to justify their obvious scam. I WILL NEVER SHOP WITH THEM AGAIN! read more
